What and how much we eat affects our entire constitution and overall health. The more you learn, the more you want to share what you've learned to help others. Melanie started trying the Paleo diet after she read Robb Wolf's The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet. [11:05] Getting Heavy Metal Poisoning from Fish People don't realize and tend to underestimate how much mercury there is in the fish you eat. Melanie thinks that swordfish should be made illegal to be sold in restaurants due to the amount of mercury you can contract from it. Eat fish in moderation to avoid heavy metal poisoning. You can get mercury poisoning not only from fish but from silver tooth fillings as well. Symptoms of this poisoning include fatigue, anemia, memory loss, anxiety, hot flashes, and insomnia. [25:25] What Happens When Toxins Get into the Body? Our bodies can detoxify on their own; however, we are not accustomed to the overwhelming toxic burden that we have nowadays. Every day toxins such as heavy metals in the food we eat, pesticides, skincare products, and makeup aren't regulated, which is why we consume more than we should. An abundance of certain compounds in makeup can cause you to gain weight and make it hard to lose it. Not to mention carcinogens. The solution to pollution is dilution. There are also studies about obesogens that states that they may affect insulin levels as well. [39:05] The Most Common Themes in Interviews Most people are all about bio-individuality: different diets and things work for different people. Most of them seem to be focused on fasting as well, which is quite popular at the moment.  Blood sugar control is a common theme since many people have a lot of trouble dealing with it. There is no cookie-cutter approach to anything. Different strokes work for different folks. A specific diet can't work for literally everyone.  Dans cet épisode #67 nous allons parler du métier de cadreur. Ce métier qui, vous le comprendrez en écoutant ce podcast, n'en est pas vraiment un, avait failli disparaître. Au début des années 2000, le vélo est sorti des oubliettes et quelques intrépides amateurs se sont lancés dans la construction de cadres. C'était d'abord pour les copains, puis la demande a suivi. Ces nouveaux cadreurs ont dû refaire eux même l'apprentissage de ces constructions faites de techniques mais aussi de tours de main.      Julien Leyreloup, que j'appelle aujourd'hui, fait partie de ces pionniers. Il a créé en 2011, avec quelques copains, les Cycles Victoire avec pour objectif de relocaliser en France la construction de cycles. Avec un groupe d'entrepreneurs comme lui, ils ont fondé l'association des Artisans du Cycles et fait revivre le Concours des Machines, qui autrefois mettait en concurrence nos meilleurs cadreurs spécialistes de la construction des beaux vélos. Cette première étape pour faire exister le métier de cadreur étant atteinte, ces artisans, qui sont aujourd'hui très sollicités, ont besoin d'avoir dans leurs ateliers de bons ouvriers pour répondre à la demande croissante. La seconde étape se déroule maintenant, avec la mise en place d'une vraie formation sous l'égide de l'AFPA de Clermont-Ferrand, avec l'aide des Cycles Victoire. Dix élèves cadreurs : 5 filles et 5 garçons, sortiront bientôt de cette formation avec un diplôme qui leur offrira un métier … La 3ème étape consistera,a officialiser, au niveau de la nomenclature des métiers, celui de cadreur vélo qui aujourd'hui n'existe pas.      Écoutons Julien qui nous explique comme ce métier de cadreur est progressivement en train de gagner sa légitimité comme bien d'autres métiers en France ...

Grief is the natural response we have to losing something that we love. Grief is not an experience for us to push through – we should not need to appear strong in the face of loss. Yet this is often what is expected or anticipated by ourselves and by those around us when we experience loss. We talk about how Misty herself dealt with the loss of family members and how loss is perceived in general, plus strategies for dealing with loss. Misty Fields taught anthropology for 15 years and is a published researcher in that field. Now working with grief and related trauma, Misty is certified by the Grief Recovery Institute and the Trauma Institute International. She recently completed a pilot study with the CoIumbia Center for Prolonged Grief and is also an AFPA-certified holistic Health Coach. Misty focuses on the whole person using a mind-body-heart centered approach. Her focus is to help you envision and bring out your truest self as you heal and renew your life after loss. What and how much we eat affects our entire constitution and overall health. The more you learn, the more you want to share what you've learned to help others. Melanie started trying the Paleo diet after she read Robb Wolf's The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet. [11:05] Getting Heavy Metal Poisoning from Fish People don't realize and tend to underestimate how much mercury there is in the fish you eat. Melanie thinks that swordfish should be made illegal to be sold in restaurants due to the amount of mercury you can contract from it. Eat fish in moderation to avoid heavy metal poisoning. You can get mercury poisoning not only from fish but from silver tooth fillings as well. Symptoms of this poisoning include fatigue, anemia, memory loss, anxiety, hot flashes, and insomnia. [25:25] What Happens When Toxins Get into the Body? Our bodies can detoxify on their own; however, we are not accustomed to the overwhelming toxic burden that we have nowadays. Every day toxins such as heavy metals in the food we eat, pesticides, skincare products, and makeup aren't regulated, which is why we consume more than we should. An abundance of certain compounds in makeup can cause you to gain weight and make it hard to lose it. Not to mention carcinogens. The solution to pollution is dilution. There are also studies about obesogens that states that they may affect insulin levels as well. [39:05] The Most Common Themes in Interviews Most people are all about bio-individuality: different diets and things work for different people. Most of them seem to be focused on fasting as well, which is quite popular at the moment.  Blood sugar control is a common theme since many people have a lot of trouble dealing with it. There is no cookie-cutter approach to anything. Different strokes work for different folks. A specific diet can't work for literally everyone. This week's guest is Larry Sprung, founder and wealth advisor.Larry is the founder of Mitlin Financial and the story of the naming of the firm is a sweet one. His reasons for going into wealth management are a reflection of the values shared in his family and the result of his upbringing. It is his way of serving others through the work he does.Larry also created the Mitlin Money Mindset podcast. After publishing a blog but wanting to say more in a different way, the podcast was started as an opportunity to share content in a different way. His involvement with the organization began after facing the loss of his wife's brother. He started out by doing a golf fundraiser and now along with is wife, partners with romance authors for a book fundraiser every May. Through all of the efforts, they have raised over $1.7 million dollars for AFPA.Peconic Hockey Foundation is another place Larry gives his time and effort. Les cas de rougeole ont explosé de près de 80% dans le monde au cours des deux premiers mois de l'année, selon l'Organisation mondiale de la santé et l'Unicef. Les explications de François Vié Le Sage, pédiatre et responsable du groupe d'expert en vaccinologie Infovac au sein de l'Association française de pédiatrie ambulatoire (Afpa). Plus de 17 000 cas de rougeole ont été déclarés en janvier et février, contre une petite dizaine de milliers un an plus tôt. Et il ne s'agit que des cas recensés. Cette progression s'explique notamment par une baisse de la vaccination, perturbée par la pandémie de Covid-19. En 2021, 23 millions d'enfants n'ont pas pu être vaccinés. Face à cette maladie extrêmement contagieuse, l'Organisation mondiale de la Santé craint une « catastrophe absolue » si la situation perdure, avec potentiellement des millions d'enfants touchés d'ici la fin de l'année. La rougeole a tué plus de 200 000 personnes en 2019, dans la très grande majorité des enfants de moins de cinq ans. Il est donc essentiel pour l'OMS de remettre les campagnes de vaccination sur les rails, en particulier dans les régions les plus touchées par la maladie. Il s'agit essentiellement de cinq pays : la Somalie, le Yémen, le Nigeria, l'Afghanistan et l'Éthiopie.

Today, I speak with IFBB Pro Niccole Guggia, an AFPA certified holistic nutritionist who turned Pro in the 35+ division. Niccole began bodybuilding after she was already vegan. She was experiencing unexplained medical issues that doctors were unable to solve. In 2017, she decided to try a a plant-based diet for 30 day. After only two weeks, the majority of her symptoms were gone. She fell into bodybuilding after lifting weights with her husband and falling in love with the sport. She did her first show in October of 2018 and immediately knew she wanted to keep going. She won her pro card in her first national show and won the 2021 Nashville Fit Show Pro Masters division.   She decided to take an 18 month improvement season to build muscle before her first national show. This taught her a lot about her body and different aspects of bodybuilding. When she was two weeks into her next prep, COVID hit and derailed her plans. Despite all of the chaos, she decided to push through and let go of things she couldn't control.    Niccole tells us how she considers “offseason” her “on season” because that's when the real work of improvement happens. She also speaks to her experience as a vegan bodybuilder and proving that it's possible to build muscle without animal protein. She chose to be vegan for health reasons and wouldn't sacrifice her health for an incremental amount of gains that she could possibly gain from animal protein. She shares her favorite sources of vegan protein and how she uses them in her diet.    We get into how Niccole became as AFPA certified holistic nutritionist and that she and her husband grow strawberries. Now that I am in my..ahem...proper adulthood age, things are starting to work a bit...differently.  The fall routine has begun and I know that my daily routine is pure madness and with that, I tend to ignore my own well-being.  This is why I had to get some advice from a professional!Anita Mirchandani, M.S, R.D, C.D.N received a B.A. from NYU and a M.S. in Clinical Nutrition from NYU. After completing a dietetic internship at New York-Presbyterian hospital, Anita became a Registered Dietitian in 2011.  Anita also maintains current fitness certifications in indoor cycling, kickboxing, group exercise, and personal training. She is also an AFPA certified prenatal and postnatal exercise specialist.We talk about growing up in Texas and in the 80s where portion control was not a concept, how we're both alive after eating Pop-Tarts 5 times a day growing up, launching India's first Greek yogurt and how Indians in general are starting to understand our common chronic diagnosis.   Anita also has a passion for  women's health and intuitive eating and gives her top 3 pieces of advice to South Asian women about how to eat “well”.I ask her about different diets and why they don't work, what the deal is with "gluten-free", and why balance is key to every diet.
