Samantha reviews her favourite biblical western lovestory Redeeming Love, while Indy gets back into the world of Wong KarWai with a review of Days of Being Wild, and we get ready for In The Mood For Love and 2046.     I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha & Indy Randhawa   Redeeming Love is a 2022 American Christian Western romance film directed by D.J. Caruso, who co-wrote the screenplay with Francine Rivers. The film is based on Rivers' 1991 novel of the same name, which was based on the Biblical story of Hosea, and is set in the American Old West during the California Gold Rush. It stars Abigail Cowen, Tom Lewis and Logan Marshall-Green.   Days of Being Wild is a 1990 Hong Kong drama film written and directed by Wong Kar-Wai. Starring some of the best-known actors and actresses in Hong Kong, including Leslie Cheung, Andy Lau, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, Jacky Cheung and Tony Leung, the film marks the first collaboration between Wong and cinematographer Christopher Doyle, with whom he has since made six more films.   In the Mood for Love (Chinese: 花樣年華; lit. 'Flowery Years') is a 2000 romantic drama film written, produced and directed by Wong Kar-wai. A co-production between Hong Kong and France, it portrays a man (Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) in 1962 whose spouses have an affair together and who slowly develop feelings for each other. It forms the second part of an informal trilogy, alongside Days of Being Wild[6] and 2046.   2046 is a 2004 romantic drama film written, produced and directed by Wong Kar-wai. An international co-production between Hong Kong, France, Italy, China and Germany, it is a loose sequel to Wong's films Days of Being Wild (1990) and In the Mood for Love (2000). It follows the aftermath of Chow Mo-wan's unconsummated affair with Su Li-zhen in 1960s Hong Kong and includes elements of science fiction.

Enjoy two free western episodes of Wild Bill Hickok w/ Guy Madison and Andy Devine A) 6/3/51 The Missouri Kid B) 7/29/51 James Butler Hickok, better known as “Wild Bill” Hickok was a folk hero of the American Old West known for being a lawman, gunfighter, gambler and showman. He earned a great deal of notoriety in life and in death. His life has been depicted numerous times in literature, radio, television and film. His death is also quite notable – he was shot and killed while playing five-card stud. He was holding two pairs, black aces and black eights, which has become known as “Dead Man's Hand.” In 1951, Kellogg's cereals brought Wild Bill Hickok to radio and television starring Guy Madison as U.S. Marshal Wild Bill Hickok and Andy Devine as his gravel-voiced comedy sidekick Jingles P. Jones. The series used a familiar western scenario enjoyed by producers of “Hopalong Cassidy” and “The Cisco Kid” in which a strong, fearless hero is accompanied by a comic sidekick. During the 1950s, several episodes of the television shows were spliced together and released as 16 feature films by Monogram Pictures.

Clarke recalled:I drove from San Gabriel to Hollywood and read for the part, and I got in as a member of the good gang. I went back to work the next day and my agent called me again and he said, ‘Gary, they have just lost the lead in the movie. Can you get down here?' Yes! So I … went home [from work] and changed and went down, and I read every day for five days. I didn't go back to work, I just kept calling in sick.He went on to work in other films, including How to Make a Monster, and Missile to the Moon (both 1958), Date Bait (1960), and Passion Street, U.S.A. (1964).  He has said he was a contract player at Universal Pictures. In the 1960-1961 season, he appeared as Dick Hamilton in the single-season NBC television series Michael Shayne, based on the fictional private detective character created by Brett Halliday, opposite Richard Denning as the title character.  Afterward, he appeared as Tad Kimball, a friend of the character Jess Harper, played by Robert Fuller, in the episode “The Fatal Step” of the NBC Western series Laramie.Clarke played Steve Hill in the cast of the long-running TV Western series The Virginian, remaining on the show from 1962 to 1964. His last series as a cast-member was the 1967 ABC Western Hondo, playing Captain Richards.Clarke said in an interview that his friend and co-star Steve Ihnat and he wrote the screenplay for director Ted V. Mikels' film Strike Me Deadly (1963), though the film's credits list only Ihnat and Mikels. Later that decade, Clarke under his birth name wrote several scripts for the NBC espionage sitcom Get Smart, which introduced the running character Hymie the Robot. All but one of his six produced scripts for the series(“Appointment in Sahara”) is about Hymie. In the 1980s and 1990s, he wrote and produced television public-service announcements including “Youth at Risk”, narrated nonfiction short films including “Promoting Healthy Behavior”, and appeared in TV series including Dynasty and The Young Riders, in which he had a four-episode recurring role. Hollywood has a clever way of distorting our perspective on history, and a great example of this is Western film – a movie genre we've all come to love. Cattle rustlers, guns blazing, outlaws running loose, and vigilantes dishing out vengeance indiscriminately. These scenes have become more synonymous with the American Frontier than Winchester and their "Cartridge That Won the West." But these fictional tales have produced more than entertainment for over a century; they've also contributed to an ongoing, subtle push for gun control, all while making Hollywood millions. Revisionist history books tell us that the “Wild West” was an anarchic period of time that was not conducive to human prosperity. Images of a Hobbesian nightmare – a life that is brutish and short – are ingrained in our consciousness thanks to decades of public schooling and violent images on the silver screen which are light on actual history and heavy on creative license. However, individuals who believe in liberty and developing their critical thinking faculties should be skeptical of most mainstream narratives regarding history, especially American history. After all, these narratives by and large have been created by Hollywood, a legacy institution that has historically advanced politically correct content with the support of Washington in order to perpetuate the cultural status quo. When the curtain of political correctness that's been draped over this particular period of history is pulled back, we see a much more nuanced picture of the American Frontier. In fact, research by historians such as Peter J. Hill, Richard Shenkman, Roger D. McGrath, Terry Anderson, and W. Eugene Holland shows that this period was rather indicative of a “not so wild, Wild West.” On this week's show Brian and Sam talk about the true history of the American frontier. Meanwhile…Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we’re going straight to the wild wild west to celebrate the first comic book hero (or “dime novel” hero if you want to be a dick about it): cowboys and the emergence of the American Western hero in pop-culture. When did it start, where did it go & how does it still influence the pop culture that we celebrate today? To help us hop-a-long this old western train of thought is director, Timothy Woodward Jr (Traded, Weaponized) to discuss the release of his latest old west hero pic Hickok (Available NOW on Amazon & UltraHD) staring Luke Hemsworth. James Butler Hickok, better known as “Wild Bill” Hickok, was a real life folk hero of the American Old West. Best known as a gambler & gunfighter, something happened to Wild Bill that catapulted him from mere man to a Western Legend. Yes, there’s a real story behind Hickok, but we don’t much care about that because if there’s one thing that years of watching westerns has taught us… When the legend becomes fact, print the legend. From oral storytelling to ballads written in scrolls, printed in dime novels & comic books, or shown in TV & movies, the “hero” has always satisfied our archetypal wish fulfillment. Where heroes like Hercules, Perseus, King Leonidas once stood, the heroes of the America Old West Hickok, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Lone Ranger, Zoro now rode & would eventually step aside for the super heroes of today. Yes, that includes Saturday morning TV… Hosted by Grim Shea & Marke. mattypradio.com

jBig Picture: The Douglas MacArthur Story Video Link https://youtu.be/CGSrB46Yrfo Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an American five-star general and field marshal of the Philippine Army. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines Campaign, which made him and his father Arthur MacArthur, Jr., the first father and son to be awarded the medal. He was one of only five men ever to rise to the rank of General of the Army in the US Army, and the only man ever to become a field marshal in the Philippine Army. Raised in a military family in the American Old West, MacArthur was valedictorian at the West Texas Military Academy, and First Captain at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated top of the class of 1903. During the 1914 United States occupation of Veracruz, he conducted a reconnaissance mission, for which he was nominated for the Medal of Honor. In 1917, he was promoted from major to colonel and became chief of staff of the 42nd (Rainbow) Division. In the fighting on the Western Front during World War I, he rose to the rank of brigadier general, was again nominated for a Medal of Honor, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross twice and the Silver Star seven times. From 1919 to 1922, MacArthur served as Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he attempted a series of reforms. His next assignment was in the Philippines, where in 1924 he was instrumental in quelling the Philippine Scout Mutiny. In 1925, he became the Army's youngest major general. He served on the court martial of Brigadier General Billy Mitchell and was president of the American Olympic Committee during the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. In 1930, he became Chief of Staff of the United States Army. As such, he was involved in the expulsion of the Bonus Army protesters from Washington, D.C. in 1932, and the establishment and organization of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He retired from the US Army in 1937 to become Military Advisor to the Commonwealth Government of the Philippines. MacArthur was recalled to active duty in 1941 as commander of United States Army Forces in the Far East. A series of disasters followed, starting with the destruction of his air forces on 8 December 1941, and the invasion of the Philippines by the Japanese. MacArthur's forces were soon compelled to withdraw to Bataan, where they held out until May 1942. In March 1942, MacArthur, his family and his staff left nearby Corregidor Island in PT boats and escaped to Australia, where MacArthur became Supreme Commander, Southwest Pacific Area. For his defense of the Philippines, MacArthur was awarded the Medal of Honor. After more than two years of fighting in the Pacific, he fulfilled a promise to return to the Philippines. He officially accepted Japan's surrender on 2 September 1945, aboard the USS Missouri anchored in Tokyo Bay, and oversaw the occupation of Japan from 1945 to 1951. As the effective ruler of Japan, he oversaw sweeping economic, political and social changes. He led the United Nations Command in the Korean War until he was removed from command by President Harry S. Truman on 11 April 1951. He later became Chairman of the Board of Remington Rand. Join Shawn and Scott as they breakdown "Serenity", not the feature film, but the true pilot for the cult sci-fi series that was canceled much to soon: "Firefly". Listen as they discuss what made this different from other works of science fiction, why FOX actually aired the pilot episode last, the unique fusion of American and Chinese cultures found throughout the series, and much more! They'll also talk about the great characters, the parallels that can be drawn to the American Old West, the attention to detail in the show's look, the excellent writing by creator Joss Whedon, and why lawn chair technology evidently hasn't changed in 500 years.   With the scored tied at one apiece, the pugilists of projections turn their sights to the topic of war.  Duncan digs deep for an excellent and complex film called Ulzana’s Raid, set in the American Old West where a veteran tracker played by Burt Lancaster squares off against savage Apaches, but who’s the real villain of this film?  Determined to take home season two with authority, Bo adds a touch of Kubrick with the Cold War satire, Dr. Strangelove; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, featuring the remarkable Peter Sellers in three distinct roles.  The lines are drawn and the weapons are chosen.  FIGHT!!! And we'll be traveling to Tombstone, Arizona, site of the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Giving a detailed account of its colorful history, Earp brings the past to the present in a revealing account of what few people realize is a three decades transformation of the entire structure of law enforcement in America.Tombstone, Arizona is a historic western city in Cochise County, Arizona, founded in 1879 by Ed Schieffelin in what was then Pima County, Arizona Territory. It was one of the last wide-open frontier boomtowns in the American Old West and the site of the famous Gunfight at the OK Corral fought October 26, 1881 between the outlaw cowboys Billy Claiborne, Ike and Billy Clanton, and Tom and Frank McLaury, and the opposing town Marshal Virgil Earp and his brothers Assistant Town Marshal Morgan and temporary lawman Wyatt, aided by Doc Holliday designated as a temporary marshal by Virgil. Twenty four seconds and 30 shots later, Billy Clanton, Tom and Frank McLaury were mortally wounded.

A short story of four showmen     William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (February 26, 1846 – January 10, 1917) was an American soldier, bison hunter and showman. He was born in the Iowa Territory (now the U.S. state of Iowa), in Le Claire but lived several years in Canada before his family moved to the Kansas Territory. Buffalo Bill received the Medal of Honor in 1872 for service to the US Army as a scout. One of the most colorful figures of the American Old West, Buffalo Bill became famous for the shows he organized with cowboy themes, which he toured in Great Britain and Europe as well as the United States.    19 year old william cody   At the age of 14, Cody was struck by gold fever, but on his way to the gold fields, he met an agent for the Pony Express. He signed with them, and after building several stations and corrals, Cody was given a job as a rider, which he kept until he was called home to his sick mother's bedside.[1]    Cody earned the nickname by killing 4,280 American bison (commonly known as buffalo) in eighteen months, (1867–1868).[ In 1889, the show toured Europe, and in 1890 Cody met Pope Leo XIII. He set up an independent exhibition near the Chicago World's Fair of 1893, which greatly contributed to his popularity. It vexed the promoters of the fair, who had first rejected his request to participate.                                                                                                                                                                                    Phineas Taylor Barnum (July 5, 1810 – April 7, 1891) was an American showman, businessman, scam artist and entertainer, remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxesand for founding the circus that became the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.[1]   Late in 1860, the Siamese Twins, Chang and Eng, came out of retirement (they needed more money to send their numerous children to college). The Twins had had a touring career on their own and went to live on a North Carolina plantation with their families and slaves, under the name of "Bunker." They appeared at Barnum's Museum for six weeks. Also in 1860, Barnum introduced the "man-monkey" William Henry Johnson, a microcephalic black dwarf who spoke a mysterious language created by Barnum.     Jenny Lind     Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz in Budapest, later Ehrich Weiss or Harry Weiss; March 24, 1874 – October 31, 1926) was an American stunt performer, noted for his sensationalescape acts      The mahogany and metal cell featured a glass front, through which audiences could clearly see Houdini. The stocks would be locked to the top of the cell, and a curtain would conceal his escape. In the earliest version of the Torture Cell, a metal cage was lowered into the cell, and Houdini was enclosed inside that. While making the escape more difficult
