He lets people see him in a positive light and be positive to others because not doing so is not conducive to growth for anybody. Eating healthy has helped Robert stay positive. [07:20] How To Increase Your Protein During Mealtime If you're trying to build more muscle, you may not benefit from doing an OMAD approach. In a building phase, Robert will eat two or three meals a day. Currently, Robert eats 3,000 calories a day and 220 grams of protein. Animal-base is just going to be more bioavailable, and it has a better amino acid profile. You can succeed on a plant-based diet. However, you are going to have more supplements. Robert eats a lot of meat and doesn't have any issues with it. Meat helps Robert streamline and simplify his meal prep. [16:30] How Can You Be A Body Builder Without Any Carbs?  Most people didn't think it was possible to lift hard and heavy on a low-carb diet. Plus, people told Robert that he wasn't going to have any energy. Well, keto helped Robert improve his relationship with food. Haters will talk smack all day long; Robert doesn't listen to it. If you're eating minimal carbs and you feel great, then you're obviously functioning on fat and ketones. If your calories are very low, you may want to leave fat higher and decrease protein because fat is great for energy. Don't leave protein low indefinitely. [21:50] Should You Throw Away Your Scale? How To Track Your Health   Robert says, “don't throw away your scale!” He likes to look at his weight as a data point. Weight doesn't show the whole picture, but it does show one piece of data. Instead, your composition should be what you measure. Also, take pictures and measurements. If you haven't trained before, start with a push-pull leg routine. Anything is going to be better than nothing! If you are already in a legitimate regimen, then increase weight, increase time under tension, increase density, and increase frequency. [36:15] What Should You Do If You Feel Sore The Next Day?   Don't do the same muscle group again. If you just started training, you will have a week or two of muscle soreness. To get through muscle soreness, you should train through it. If you're a seasoned lifter, you may benefit from a week where you decrease the intensity. [41:20] Should You Work Out Fasted or Have a Meal Before Exercise?   It comes down to preference. Robert prefers fasted workouts. Fats take a long time to absorb; you won't make use of those calories. Robert eats his evening meal as his “pre-workout meal” for the next day. AND MUCH MORE! Since there's immense controversy surrounding the keto diet, Robert talks about the various uses of the keto diet and how that has evolved over the years. “I think in 2017-2018 is when it really spiked… and since then, there's been a massive influx of products and just marketing around the ketogenic diet, paling it as this miracle weight loss diet. There's some truth to some of that marketing but a lot of it has been overly hyped for sure,” Robert says. Robert details his improvements in various health markers after going keto, as well as the power of combining research on diets and health trends with personal experimentation to come to your own conclusion. He lets people see him in a positive light and be positive to others because not doing so is not conducive to growth for anybody. Eating healthy has helped Robert stay positive. [07:20] How To Increase Your Protein During Mealtime If you're trying to build more muscle, you may not benefit from doing an OMAD approach. In a building phase, Robert will eat two or three meals a day. Currently, Robert eats 3,000 calories a day and 220 grams of protein. Animal-base is just going to be more bioavailable, and it has a better amino acid profile. You can succeed on a plant-based diet. However, you are going to have more supplements. Robert eats a lot of meat and doesn't have any issues with it. Meat helps Robert streamline and simplify his meal prep. [16:30] How Can You Be A Body Builder Without Any Carbs?  Most people didn't think it was possible to lift hard and heavy on a low-carb diet. Plus, people told Robert that he wasn't going to have any energy. Well, keto helped Robert improve his relationship with food. Haters will talk smack all day long; Robert doesn't listen to it. If you're eating minimal carbs and you feel great, then you're obviously functioning on fat and ketones. If your calories are very low, you may want to leave fat higher and decrease protein because fat is great for energy. Don't leave protein low indefinitely. [21:50] Should You Throw Away Your Scale? How To Track Your Health   Robert says, “don't throw away your scale!” He likes to look at his weight as a data point. Weight doesn't show the whole picture, but it does show one piece of data. Instead, your composition should be what you measure. Also, take pictures and measurements. If you are already in a legitimate regimen, then increase weight, increase time under tension, increase density, and increase frequency. [36:15] What Should You Do If You Feel Sore The Next Day?   Don't do the same muscle group again. If you just started training, you will have a week or two of muscle soreness. To get through muscle soreness, you should train through it. If you're a seasoned lifter, you may benefit from a week where you decrease the intensity. [41:20] Should You Work Out Fasted or Have a Meal Before Exercise?   It comes down to preference. Robert prefers fasted workouts. Fats take a long time to absorb; you won't make use of those calories. Robert eats his evening meal as his “pre-workout meal” for the next day. AND MUCH MORE! Robert Sikes is one of the sweetest men you'll ever encounter. And that may not be obvious when you first look at him. Because, you see, he's a bodybuilder and massive. And I don't just mean massive in terms of bulk. He's also massively influential in the bodybuilding space, as the leading spokesperson about following a ketogenic diet for bodybuilding. He's a natural ketogenic bodybuilder, author and entrepreneur as well as the CEO and founder of Keto Savage, a health and fitness company that offers coaching, training and nutrition for athletes and bodybuilders. He is also CEO and founder of Keto Brick, a company that produces ketogenic meal replacement bars for efficient nutrition with the highest quality ingredients. And he holds first-in-class titles from his bodybuilding competitions within the OCB and WNBF federations and lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife Crystal.
