Democrat Riggers have indicted Donald Trump again accusing him of leading a criminal conspiracy in the 2020 election. CPAC Australia triggered the usual suspects outraged at truth and jokes. A riggerrous edition of Tim's News Explosion. The Matildas didn't win the FIFA Women's World Cup. But because they came 4th they will be getting a bronze statue in Brisbane and a mural outside Stadium Australia. Federation Square was banned as a live site because of too many flares. The mainstream media declared the Matildas one of the gayest teams at the World Cup. However the cashed up Saudi Pro League won't be featuring any gay players where even public displays of Christianity are illegal. Louise Milligan on ABC's 4 Corners is dedicating a whole report about there being no openly gay male AFL players. In Melbourne a group of lesbians want an exemption from the Sex Discrimination Act to hold a lesbian-born female event at Victoria's Pride Centre. The CPAC Australia conference featured some based speeches including comedian Rodney Marks paying respect to the traditional owners ‘violent black men', Gary Johns stating Aboriginals need to learn English and just being an Aboriginal means you will die younger, the Christian founders of GiveSendGo stating they will only cancel those on terrorist lists, who support murder (abortion) and child abuse (gender transitions for minors), and the new Australia Christian Lobby Director Michelle Pearse opposing a proposed NSW ban on gay conversion therapy. But what most outraged the usual suspects was CPAC refusing to cancel former Blaze TV host Elijah Schaffer because he interviewed Joel Davis. Dan Andrews has paid the Commonwealth Games Federation $380 million of Victorian taxpayers' money in compensation to not put on the games in 2026. He is cutting money in other areas such as helicopter water bombers just in time for bushfire season. Poor urban planning has resulted in an estate in the Melbourne suburb of Kalkallo only having one entry and exit (but maybe that's by design?). A new Omicron subvariant BA2.86 with 30 mutations has been discovered which Alex Jones reported will be used as a justification for new mask mandates and lockdowns according to a US TSA source. Donald Trump's fourth indictment is under Georgia's RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act accusing him of leading a criminal organization to overturn the state's 2020 Presidential election result. Trump posted on his Truth Social accusing Fulton County DA Fani Willis of only going after those that fought to find the Riggers. Al Sharpton claimed Trump made up the word Riggers because it rhymes with the N-word because Fani Willis is black. Trump will not be attending any of the Republican Presidential primary debates. Another Killer nurse has been uncovered in the UK. Lucy Letby was found guilty of murdering 7 babies and attempted murder of 6 in an NHS neo-natal ward. Could the high number of British killer nurses be because they are protected by the cult of the NHS and are all as revered as Florence Nightingale? Rishi Sunak decided he wasn't the British Prime Minister on Indian Independence Day but only a Hindu. Four Corners reporter Louise Milligan explains why the family of a man who follows the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon has warned authorities about his beliefs.
It's still not easy for the ABC to deliver straight news as after one Four Corners saga they want to create another. The continuing Melbourne lockdown is being justified because of two new variants named after letters of the Greek alphabet. Just when you thought one LGBT alphabet soup-themed day had ended there is a whole month of LGBT Pride. All that on tonight's Tim's News Explosion. In the second week of Melbourne lockdown a second Indian strain cluster has been discovered named Delta which is apparently even more infectious than the highly infectious other Indian strain called Kapper which triggered the initial outbreak leading to the lockdown. With another weekend of Melbourne lockdown more threatening letters were sent to anti-lockdown activists and journalists including the Real Rukshan and Avi Yemini by Assistant Commissioner Luke Cornelious warning them against going to a small business protest which was held at Flinders Street station on Saturday. Bored Melbournians in lockdown have gone down the rabbit hole again looking into the various rumours about Premier Dan Andrews stairfall on March 9 which he has been on recovery leave and not been seen since. This afternoon the Victorian Liberals even asked for more information to be released about the stairfall. Former Federal Attorney-General Christian Porter withdrew his defamation action against the ABC last week in exchange for an Editor's note on Louise Milligan's original story that a sitting Cabinet Minister had been accused of historical rape. The ABC spun Porter's withdrawal as a win but they will pay his mediation costs with the case already costing the taxpayer-funded broadcast $780,000. Despite this, they were planning to air another Louise Milligan program on Scott Morrison's supposed relationship with a QAnon believer. Just as one LGBT-themed day had passed IDAHOBIT Day a whole month of LGBT Pride is taking place in June. A redacted version of the ABC's defence in the defamation lawsuit brought by former Attorney General Christian Porter has been made public. Mr Porter is suing the ABC and reporter Louise Milligan over a story about an anonymous letter sent to the Prime Minister, attached to a 31-page dossier detailing a historical rape allegation levelled against a serving Cabinet minister.

Christian Porter and Linda Reynolds have been stripped of their portfolios, with Prime Minster Scott Morrison announcing a cabinet reshuffle after several weeks of chaos.Mr Porter will lose the Attorney-General post and Senator Reynolds has been dumped from the Defence Ministry.Senator Michaelia Cash will become the next Attorney-General and Peter Dutton will be Defence Minister.Mr Porter announced he was going on mental health leave at a press conference on March 3, in which he vehemently denied a historical claim that he raped a 16-year-old girl.He has been under pressure to resign after he revealed himself as the minister at the centre of the rape allegation.Mr Porter has never been charged and police confirmed there was “insufficient evidence” to proceed with an investigation, labelling the matter “closed”.His decision to launch defamation proceedings against the ABC and journalist Louise Milligan saw calls for him to be removed from his position intensify, over conflict of interest concerns.Meanwhile, Senator Reynolds has been on leave since February after being admitted to hospital to receive treatment for a pre-existing heart condition. She has faced intense criticism over her handling of Brittany Higgins' alleged rape in Parliament House — first reported by news.com.au in February this year. The former Liberal Party staffer has alleged she was raped at Parliament House in Defence Minister Linda Reynolds' ministerial office by a colleague.Police are investigating the incident and a political inquiry was suspended on Monday over concerns it could interfere with the criminal probe. The significant reshuffle saw a number of senior moves, including among the two major scalps today.Mr Porter will be Minister for Industry, Science and Technology while Ms Reynolds will take on Government Service and the NDIS.Filling the Home Affairs Minister role as Mr Dutton moves to Defence will be Karen Andrews.−The Morrison government has been under renewed pressure since the publication last week of “disgusting” images and videos of male senior government staff performing sex acts in Parliament House.A shambolic press conference by Scott Morrison the next day, in which he falsely claimed News Corp Australia – publisher of news.com.au – was subject to its own harassment investigation, saw criticism intensify. On top of that, the saga surrounding Queensland MP Andrew Laming has added fuel to the fire, with him now saying he won't contest the next election. The news that he would quit politics and not move to the crossbench followed allegations he took a photograph of a woman bending over to fill a fridge with soft drinks – without her consent – and abused two women online to the point that one considered suicide.
Born of Louise Milligan's own brutal experience as a witness in the Cardinal Pell case, Witness is at once a gripping, powerful, meticulously researched critique of our criminal justice system, and an eloquent and empathetic argument for change. Including the accounts of victims retraumatised by their courtroom experience alongside expert opinions and analysis from legal practitioners - including defence counsel, prosecutors, judges and academics - Witness lays bare the flaws of our adversarial system, and the devastating impact they can have on the delivery of justice. Investigative journalist Louise Milligan chats with political commentator Annabel Crabb about her masterful and deeply troubling new book, Witness. This is a live recording of an online event hosted via Zoom during the Covid-19 crisis.
It was 2018 when Saxon Mullins, now 23, came out and said the four words: “I am that girl.” People had heard what had happened to a young woman in a laneway behind the Soho nightclub in Sydney’s King’s Cross. They heard what a man, Luke Lazarus, son of the nightclub owner, said to her. The public was also aware of what happened next. But it took five years for Saxon to say those words, “I am that girl”, and she said them to ABC journalist Louise Milligan. Saxon did what she was meant to do. She reported alleged assault. She turned up to court. She sat in the witness box and she told her story. But, Louise Milligan asks, at what cost? Louise Milligan is an investigative journalist, a reporter for the ABC’s Four Corners program, and Walkley Award winning author. Her most recent book is Witness: An investigation into the brutal cost of seeking justice in which she explores Australia's legal system and how it treats witnesses. She gives us a glimpse into a world so many of us will never see, and explores the stories of various witnesses, including Saxon Mullins and Paris Street. If you dare probe that there might have been voter fraud in the US election and Joe Biden is not President-elect you'll be fact-checked ten times or disappeared online. After Election Day endless coronavirus vaccination pricks are being mass-produced. The Uncuckables' panel discusses the new post-election world with Tim Wilms Editor of The Unshackled, David Hiscox Editor of the XYZ, Jarrad Searby Director of the AMAG Project, Jarrad's mate Jimmy and for a short while Andy Nolch the Space Cowboy. Andy Nolch the Space Cowboy tries to join us at the beginning but experiences internet interference. Jarrad is joined by his mate Jimmy from Wodonga, Jarrad lost his court case for crossing into Albury, NSW without a permit and was fined $600 by the Magistrate. Big tech is busy either censoring or correcting anyone who suspects that there might be voter fraud in the US elections and that Biden should not be called President-elect. The allegedly far-right Murdoch owned Fox News was the first to call the election for Biden. Former Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull are lobbying for a Royal Commission into the Murdoch media in Australia. Victoria has recorded almost two weeks of no new coronavirus cases but masks are still mandatory everywhere. Dan Andrews has said there is no normal without a vaccine, the Oxford vaccine despite stage 3 trials not even being completed the vaccine is already being manufactured in Melbourne. Pfizer announced after the media declared Biden president-elect their vaccine was 90% effective. Dan's government this week tried to pass a law to silence families of rape and murder victims and voted for a Green New Deal motion. IBAC corruption hearings have continued with Dan and his Minister's closeness to a donor coming under closer scrutiny. In federal politics the ABC's Four Corner's program was used by host Louise Milligan and Greens Senator Sarah Hanson Young that two Liberal ministers having consensual affairs with staffers showed the Liberal Party was sexist. Sarah Hanson Young earlier this year gave a character reference to a wife slapper. It was NAIDOC week another Aboriginal themed week which has as its slogan: always was, always will be. Labor and the Greens wanted the 1971 created Aboriginal flag flown during the week. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian wants a line in Advance Australia Fair to be changed. As the decade turns, The Show of the Year marks 2019 in style – with host Casey Bennetto and a glittering line-up of writers, comedians and musicians. Paul Kelly, Nath Valvo, Alice Bishop, Sista Zai Zanda, Margot Morales Tanjutco, Laura Jean, Alice Gorman, Evelyn Araluen, The Merindas, Brodie Lancaster, Louise Milligan and Bill Shorten share their thoughts on subjects as various as the decommissioning of the Opportunity Rover on Mars, the Tigers' premiership run, the death of Toni Morrison, The Masked Singer and the closure of Uluru to tourists. Select an image to view in detail Select an image to view in detail What a year. Protests shook Hong Kong, the Amazon caught fire and children led a worldwide climate strike. Boris Johnson picked up the prime ministerial ball as it came loose from the back of the scrum, Scott Morrison baseball-capped his way back into government, and Trump impeachment talk turned to (some) action. We said goodbye to towering figures in literature and politics, including Toni Morrison, Bob Hawke, Les Murray, Clive James and Mary Oliver. And we farewelled meowing figures of the internet. (R.I.P. Grumpy Cat.) There were the mandatory Big Cultural Moments, too: someone (no spoilers) finally won the Game of Thrones, Fleabag stormed the Emmys, and a Sydney real estate video went viral. Beyoncé came home, Fyre Festival blew up (again) and Lil Nas X shot to stardom via TikTok. Ah yes, how could we forget: TikTok. Goodbye 2019 … we hardly knew ye! Cardinal George Pell was Australia's most powerful Catholic, jailed in March 2019 for child sexual assault. To coincide with Pell's failed appeal, Better Reading has decided to immediately release our podcast with Award-winning investigative reporter, Louise Milligan. This is a fascinating, powerful and timely conversation between Cheryl Akle and the author of Cardinal: The Rise and Fall of George Pell. Louise and Cheryl also delve into the tragic stories of the victims, highlighting the life-long impact of their childhood abuse. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
David Crosling/AAPCardinal George Pell’s appeal against child sexual assault convictions kicks off this week, but when that’s over Pell still has another reckoning to face: the unredacted findings of Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. When the royal commission handed down its massive report in late 2017, several sections were redacted until after any legal proceedings against Cardinal Pell were concluded. In this episode of Media Files, Matthew Ricketson talks with ABC investgative reporter Louise Milligan – author of Cardinal: the rise and fall of George Pell – about the issues and incidents the royal commission investigated. While Corrie’s away in ‘Mother of the Groom’ mode, Anna from the Op-Shop and Caro’s daughter Rose come off the Interchange Bench for Episode 75 'Romance at the Op-Shop'. Caro shares the detail of her scary fire evacuation experience while hiking on the weekend which paled in comparison to some of the heartbreaking stories of loss emerging from bushfires in Gippsland in recent days. The news of George Pell’s conviction last week has rocked the Catholic Church and the wider community to the core. We pay tribute to journalist Louise Milligan who’s incredible reporting and writing about the case (including in her book Cardinal and Monday night’s Four Corners) has helped to expose the true toll of crimes that some, it would seem, seek to diminish. On a lighter note – we get an Op-Shop update from Anna where everyone's doing the 'Kondo, Kondo, Kondo' dance and there's more than a little romance in the air. Caro’s 'Crush of the Week' is Rafael Nadal after he put Nick Kyrgios in his place, but she’s grumpy about what she sees is the AFL’s misguided investment in AFLX. In BSF – Anna and Rose jinx each other with an identical book recommendation for Normal People by Sally Rooney. Anna provides a rather brutal but honest review of the new Michael Caine film King of Thieves and she shares and easy and delicious duck salad recipe (recipe coming soon via our Facebook page). In ‘6 Quick Questions’ we remember Mike Willesee, get Rose’s millennial perspective on how much climate change issues could affect the next election and reminisce about Moomba memories. Rose shares a GLT, a fantastic free screening event at ACMI in Melbourne The Clock. ***If you're in Melbourne on the morning of April 30th - SAVE THE DATE. This week, the ABC's Four Corners program I Am That Girl followed the story of Saxon Mullins, a young woman whose sexual assault in Kings Cross was the beginning of a five-year legal ordeal. In this special episode, Holly and Jessie speak to investigative reporter Louise Milligan about how the show came together, the increasingly complex issues around consent, and how we all support Saxon in a tangible way. Watch I Am That Girl here. Call 1800 Respect if you need to talk to someone.
On this episode of the FIRST THINGS Podcast: Editor Rusty Reno and literary editor Matthew Schmitz talk to associate editor Julia Yost about a recent article in the Jesuit journal La Civiltà Cattolica. According to the authors, both of whom are advisers to Pope Francis, American Evangelicals and Catholics are warmongers and apocalyptic cultists bent on establishing a theocratic state. What does the article reveal about American religious conservatives—and about its authors? Then, Julia reflects on her experience reviewing Louise Milligan’s Cardinal: The Rise and Fall of George Pell.
