In this episode of Medicated Michelle I talk about the absolute WORST medication I ever took. I can't remember what it was as my doctor never formally prescribed it to me, she merely handed me “samples”. From my recollection it was the generic form of wellbutrin, but I could be wrong. Socks are one of those milestone knitting projects that once successfully completed, help you feel prepared to take on more difficult projects. Knitters who haven't taken the leap can be intimidated by words like "gusset" and "kitchener stitch" but on today's podcast Lee and Stacey hope to help make socks less scary for sock newbies by diving deep into everything sock-knitting. First up, Lee and Stacey check in about what's on their needles. Lee picked up a project that she started in 2019 while Stacey shares a sad knitting story with a happy ending. (Yes frogging can be happy!) Then Lee and Stacey disagree on how to knit socks: toe-up or top-down? Next, new Knit Picks team members, Michelle and Cathy talk to Lee and Stacey about their knitting background and even answer our lightning round knitting questions. (*Use the This or That graphic below and answer some of our knitting questions yourself in your Instagram Stories!) Later Lee and Stacey pick up where they left off with their socks fight, only to agree that personal preference is key. Both discuss knitting two socks at at a time is a favorite. They cover everything about how to knit socks, demystify sock construction, share some favorite sock yarns, and answer YOUR questions about sock knitting. In a time where the world continues to feel deep sorrow, stress, and strife, I am encourage by the leaders who brave the storm like Michelle Nunn, CEO of CARE. I have such a fondness of CARE as I used to work for a likeminded NGO previously and this feels like an extension of my heart projects. When I asked Michelle what she has learned as a leader in crisis, she said “I had to learn things anew & challenge our preconceptions. I tend towards an optimistic sensibility which hasn’t always served well in the last year. I need to surround myself with those who think about the worst case scenarios.” This is something I have seen leaders avoid; the discomfort of differing views, of recognizing the hardships, and accepting the trials. I am inspired by Michelle’s ability to face this head on. Thank you Michelle for your time and your advice on facing crisis. Michelle Gray is a Spiritual Practitioner, Psychic Medium, Magic Mama, Blogger and Public Speaker. Michelle is very empathetic, and was a target for bullies as a child and young adult. Her connection to the Spirit world was something she knew existed but she kept much of it within her family and close friends. In 2004 after the birth of one of her children, she was diagnosed with a hereditary disease called SpinoCerebellar Ataxia type 6. She was told that her health would continue to fail and that she would digress over her adult life...eventually unable to talk or walk as a result. By 2011, Michelle had been hospitalized several times with pain and illness, and was highly addicted to opiates as a result of being prescribed a deadly dosage for a lengthy time. A Letter to God, A guide named Erik Medhus, and a poignant question from her daughter changed EVERYTHING! Michelle started a road to recovery, trying to rebuild and focus on better days ahead. On today's episode we have the sweetest gem on to chat about something that millions of women are struggling with oftentimes in silence during their struggle. We are going to tackle a subject that I have put my foot in my mouth more often than not over the years without realizing and that is struggling with infertility. Michelle is an IVF support coach for women starting and those going through their journey to help guide them along the way so they know they are not alone. Infertility is more common than even I had understood and it affects the women in our lives all differently. The big lie that has been fed to us over the years is that it's so easy to get pregnant and have a baby but for some that is simply not the case and for those struggling Michelle is there to walk along the journey with you. Having been through the process successfully herself she can help you ask the right questions, be someone to cry with and just the kindest soul when you need it most. Meet Michelle Finding joy in this journey literally changed my life. I know firsthand what it feels like to be entirely consumed by infertility and how freeing it is to finally feel in control and like yourself again. More than anything though, I want you to know you are not alone and you don't have to do this hard thing alone either. If you're struggling with infertility, going through IVF, or anywhere in between, you owe it to yourself to see what a happier, more joyful version of this journey could look like. To experience the peace, freedom, re-invigorated hope and belief that something beautiful is waiting for you on the other side of this experience, no matter what happens. https://www.instagram.com/thrivf/ (Instagram) https://www.thrivethroughivf.com/ (Thrive Through IVF ) Let's be FRIENDS! This woman, as a child, was painfully shy but yet was often the peacekeeper of a family of two siblings and 5 foster children. Even though she was shy, she was driven and hated to lose. As she grew into a young woman, she became interested in politics and dreamed of perhaps being the governor of California. But as the years went by, the role meant for her was to be a connector of people. First working for someone else and then in her own company. And she was really good at it. But her world came to halt when she was given 90 days to live after a breast cancer diagnosis. Today, she is still a powerful connector but her path to greatness now includes the insight of how precious life is and what it takes to live fully. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Michelle Patterson.
This woman grew up with a father who was a fighter pilot therefore the family was constantly living in new places and meeting new people. It was strict home where the messaging was clear - if she wanted anything, she would have to do it on her own and she was to always keep her word. As she grew and started to find her way, she found her heart was in the creative space. Even as a child she explored this as she made clothes for dolls. And as an adult, she experimented with being a designer, painter or sculptor. But she somehow came to believe she would never make money in design so she decided to pursue psychology. However, her desire to design never left and now she creates and showcases entire fashion lines in high end clothing boutiques bearing her name. She is right where she is meant to be. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Michelle Farmer.

I do not knoweverything, but I love to research and learn from others and I will always share my ownexperiences with new investigators. In 2016, I decided to start my own business. I originally began working in my bedroom using my dresser and a desk. I had one attorney, Angela Lee in Bend, Oregon. She called me and asked to take a case that I had worked on earlier. I was told the client only wanted me to be the investigator. She believed in me and to this day, we still work cases together. Eventually, I grew out of my bedroom and had to get an office. In 2017, I opened an office with the help of my mother, Linda Gates. I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have been presented with. I have the privilege to work side by side today with some of my most admired attorneys. When I am asked if I enjoy my job; I tell them, this is not a job, it’s my passion and I love it! Our podcast today is with a strong mama who has found success in her work life as well as her home life through a self care morning routine that helps her center her thoughts and give her clarity in her mission.Meet Michelle.Michelle Gomez is an author, speaker and success coach. She helps women professionals achieve their next promotion or career transition with an emphasis on negotiation, leadership style, and family. I can’t wait for you to hear her story and join me at learning from all her experience. For more Michelle Gomez:Instagram: @mgsuccesscoachFacebookWebsite: www.michellemgomez.comFree digital download!! Book on Amazon: Own Your BrillianceA message from Michelle:“I lived with anxiety, fear and a constant need for validation for many years; feeling like I had not truly earned my success but just happened to stumble upon it by chance. Today, I am no longer that person. I have learned to let go of the need for perfection, let go of the need for validation, and approach life from a place of gratitude and worthiness. After years of battling the negative thought patters around the Impostor Syndrome in my career, I finally decided to stop running the race and instead change the direction of my focus.“When I changed my focus to self-development, while still actively thriving both professionally and academically; my whole experience changed. I went from being a corporate burnout, to a happy, healthy and successful version of myself. I now have a career, business and life that I LOVE. It all started with a change in focus, a strategy of 'self' and mastering the art of negotiation. I'm using the information I've learned, experiences I've had, the statistics of the Impostor Syndrome and examples of people I've helped to write the book, Own Your Brilliance: Overcome Impostor Syndrome for Career Success.”I now use the knowledge I've gained and experience in the corporate arena to coach other women professionals to breakthrough cultural barriers, the Impostor experience in their own lives and achieve their next promotion or career transition. I do this with an emphasis on negotiation, leadership style, and family. Working moms are the pillars of our society and so I make it my mission to empower women, like me, to thrive at work and at home. It is not easy being an ambitious Latina, but with the right tools, coaching and, clearly set goals, you can design a career and life strategy to make an impact on the world around you, your family's legacy, and your future.”Books Hillary is reading this month:The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin,The Screwtape Letters, by CS Lewis and The Magnolia Story, by Chip and Joanna Gaines

Michelle Dyer wants everyone to think in multiple sources of income. Being a freelancer can be very hard. It’s not like a 9 – 5 where you can have a clear career path and most educational institutions don’t cover the “how to freelance” part of the art training. In a world where you bounce from job to job having multiple sources of income can make a huge difference in how you approach projects. When you’re not as worried about one gig paying all of your bills you have the freedom to take jobs that are more important to you and not just because you need the money. Michelle knows this first hand and from her own experience in the arts created a resource to help actors get side jobs that allow them to continue to act and work on their craft. MEET MICHELLE: (http://www.advanceyourart.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/MichelleDyer.png) In 2002 Michelle Dyer got on a plane to NYC with two suitcases and never looked back. Her eclectic background of performance, White House Intern, and now a full-time businesswoman has made her a natural candidate to inspire others to have a “side hustle” to be smart, pay the bills, and save money while going after their dreams. She created Survival Jobs for Actors when she had just arrived back into town after a gig, and didn’t want to go right back out on the road. After asking around for temp agency recommendations, she thought – there must be a better way [to find a survival job] – and thus Survival Jobs for Actors was born BOOKS: The Automatic Millionaire, Expanded and Updated: A Powerful One-Step Plan to Live and Finish Rich by David Bach (http://amzn.to/2jc4O6J) The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke Paperback by Suze Orman (http://amzn.to/2ip4z7H) The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom: Practical and Spiritual Steps So You Can Stop Worrying Paperback by Suze Orman (http://amzn.to/2ikWspi) RESOURCES: Bryan Tracy (http://www.briantracy.com/) Bob Proctor (http://www.proctorgallagherinstitute.com/) Jim Rohn (https://www.jimrohn.com/) Vic Johnson (http://www.vicjohnson.com/) http://www.actorsfund.org/ (http://www.actorsfund.org/) http://www.actorsfund.org/services-and-programs/al-hirschfeld-free-health-clinic (http://www.actorsfund.org/services-and-programs/al-hirschfeld-free-health-clinic) CONTACT: http://survivaljobsforactors.com/ (http://survivaljobsforactors.com/) BONUS: This podcast is brought to you by Audible.
