As Hart leaned into the vehicle to retrieve the keys, the driver sped off, dragging Hart along the pavement. He sustained massive head injuries and was airlifted to a Hospital in Englewood. He was just 34 years old, a Vietnam veteran, a father of two, and a respected part-time officer with the Firestone Police Department. The Manhunt and the Mystery The suspect, was arrested that same morning, hiding in the weeds not far from the abandoned car. The suspect disappeared shortly after being released. A multi-state manhunt followed. Despite FBI involvement and multiple added charges, including vehicular homicide, habitual offender, and failure to appear, the suspect remained elusive. He had committed suicide with a .38 caliber revolver. His note left no mention of Officer Hart. In the mid-70s, he moved to Colorado, balancing work as a tank truck driver and part-time police officer. Firestone Marshal Tony Onorato, Sr., personally recruited Hart in 1977 due to his exceptional record. Robert always wanted to visit exotic lands and was a fan of the famous animal collector Frank Buck.Robert became interested in the Bigfoot legend after watching the movie “Legend of Boggy Creek” when he was young. His mother, who is from Scotland, would tell about him about the Loch Ness Monster. Also, his uncle would relate scary stories of the Fouke Monster and monster legends. Because the whole subject of real monsters scared him, Rob started researching monsters by reading every book he could on the unexplained. He is a distinguished Army veteran with a career that has taken him from the Utah Army National Guard where he served as a Military Policeman, and later, he transferred to the Regular Army where he became a Dog Handler. Ron and his dog were later assigned to a Special Forces team performing combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The team was transported and protected by superbly skilled and battle-hardened Army helicopter crews. Ron was impressed by the skill and coolness of these pilots, and he had no idea that he would later join that elite group of aviators and lead other helicopter pilots into battle.

He continues to serve on the Board of Visitors at the University of Maine (Augusta) and on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's Board of Trustees. In addition to his active duty service as a Military Policeman in Korea, Commissioner Liberty performed an additional twenty-one years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He served as a Mountain Infantryman in Italy, as a Drill Sergeant, and as an Instructor at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. During Liberty's last deployment, he served as a Command Sergeant Major embedded with 772 Iraqi infantrymen in the City of Fallujah. Liberty is a three-time Law Enforcement Officer of the year. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the National Sheriffs Leadership Institute, and the New England Chiefs of Police Command Course. He earned a Master's in Management and Leadership from Liberty University and a B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Maine (Augusta). Liberty served as the Warden of the Maine State Prison and was later appointed as the Commissioner of Corrections, by Governor Janet Mills in 2019. During his tenure as Warden and Commissioner, he and his team have reduced restrictive housing, enhanced educational and vocational opportunities, improved nutrition, and expanded treatment for addiction. Richard Blevins enlisted aged 18 in the US Army in March of 1987.  He completed  Basic Training  & Military Police School training in July of 1987 and was posted to West Berlin as a United States Military Policeman. He describes his selection for Berlin duty while at Rhine-Main AFB in Frankfurt and his first journey across East Germany on the US Duty train to West Berlin.  Richard's first year consisted of patrol duties and combat training as well as serving at Checkpoints Bravo and Charlie as the assistant to the Non-commissioned Officer in Charge. He also got selected as a traffic accident investigator in 1988 where he would patrol with the West Berlin Police and respond to all car accidents involving US military, dependents, and civilian workers as well as West German nationals. Richard also describes how he heard the news on November 8th, 1989, that Erich Honecker had lifted all travel restrictions on East Germans starting at midnight.  He is a close friend of Michael Rafferty who appeared in episode 13 with his account of the last days of Checkpoint Charlie. Find John Barnes on Facebook HERE Chief Warrant Officer John Barnes was born in the great province of Newfoundland and joined the Canadian Forces in 1981. He completed his basic training in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia and then made his way to London, Ontario, where he completed his basic Infantry training within the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (1RCR). On graduation from Basic Infantry Training, he was posted to 1RCR as a rifleman. Less than a year later, he requested and was granted a posting to 3RCR in Baden, Germany, where he remained as part of the NATO Defence Force for Europe until 1984 when he moved with the battalion to Winnipeg, Manitoba, becoming part of the Army of the West. While in Winnipeg, he completed his Infantry Section Commanders Course at the Battle School in Wainwright and was appointed to the rank of Master Corporal in 1985. In 1988, he returned to Baden, Germany, with 3RCR where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and remained with the Battalion until 1992. He was then posted to 2 Brigade Headquarters and Signals Squadron Petawawa, as the Operations and Training Sergeant. In 1996, he returned to Petawawa and to1RCR, where he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and served as the Platoon Warrant Officer and Company Quartermaster Sergeant until his posting to Land Force Central Area Training Centre Meaford in 1999. While in Meaford, he was responsible for numerous jobs including running the basic Infantry Courses, and setting up and conducting the new Soldiers Qualification Course. He was posted back to 1RCR in 2003 and shortly thereafter was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer, becoming the Company Sergeant-Major for Charles Company. In 2007, he was posted to 3RCR as the Battalion Drill Sergeant-Major and in 2009, was posted to Land Force Doctrine and Training System in Kingston, Ontario, as the Headquarters Sergeant-Major. Master Warrant Officer Barnes was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in March 2010 and posted to Joint Task Force X in Kingston as the Unit Chief Warrant Officer. He was posted to Ottawa in 2013 as the first non-Military Policeman to be selected as the Canadian Forces Military Police Group Chief Warrant Officer. In 2016 he was posted into the Canadian Army HQ as the Chief for the Canadian Army Soldier Care Unit. Chief Warrant Officer Barnes has served in operations in Cyprus, the Persian Gulf, Croatia, Bosnia, and Afghanistan and has been awarded the Sacrifice Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Member of the Order of Military Merit. CWO Barnes recently had a book published, “ White School Black Memories” which has been on Amazon #1 Best Seller list for two weeks. The Book is his story of Operation Medusa in 2006 in Afghanistan. Guilherme Cordiviola is a mighty man of God. He is popularly known in the jiu jitsu community as “Guigui or Gui. Born in Niterói in Rio de Janeiro, the youngest son of a Military Policeman, he grew up in the neighborhood called Jacarepaguá in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 14, he was introduced to Jiu Jitsu through his friend Leandro. Leandro said that Jiu Jitsu would help him lose weight, paid his monthly fee and gave him his first kimono. What Leandro did not know is that this generous and kind gesture it would forever change the life of “Guigui”. Guigui first trained Jiu Jitsu school at the Merck Fight Club. The school's founder and owner Professor Sérgio Henrique (also known as Professor Serginho) is a fourth degree black belt from Team Gfteam and a student of Mestre Baruana and Mestre Júlio César. Since the first Guigui stepped on the mat, he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. With only one month of training, he went to his first competition and won the champion. The adrenaline rush from that competition fueled his love for the sport and competitions became routine in his life. He has collected several titles during his career including 3-time Brazilian National Champion, several state championships, and most memorable the coveted IBJJF World Jiu Jitsu Championship in 2013. After the World Championship Guilherme moved to Columbus, Ohio and began training and teaching Jiu Jitsu to professional fighters and the local community.   Later that year his father fell ill and he had to go move back to Brazil to help his family. In 2014, he became a banker and started working at one of the most famous banks in Brazil, but that desire to earn a living competing and teaching Jiu Jitsu still remained in his heart. In 2014, he earned his brown belt and was asked to teach competition classes for teenagers who were competing on the BJJ circuit. What started out as fun became an inexplicable passion. That passion translated into a fun and robust BJJ program that has resulted in his students winning IBJJF Worlds Championships, Pan American Championships, European Championships, Brazilian Championships as well as many Open State Championships. In 2017, he earned the bronze medal as a brown belt placing 3rd at the IBJJF Jiu Jitsu World Championship. He was promoted on the spot while on the podium in what he describes as one of the best feelings of his life. Guigui's life changed in 2019 when his father passed away. He knew in his heart that banking was not his life's passion and took a step of faith by resigning from his job and followed his heart to compete and teach Jiu jitsu on a full-time basis. Gui gave his heart to Christ at an early age. Through many trials and tribulations, he became lukewarm in his faith until the Lord spoke to him and called him into a deeper relationship many years ago. He now actively lives out his faith and walks the walk of faith and is an example to those around him.

I then get into conversation with Eric Taylor aka The Breastfeeding Father, an ex military man who is now studying clinical psychology with a focus on children and adolescents. Eric is based in Canada with his wife and baby, but it also has a young daughter living in the USA. Covid has been incredibly challenging for them with a long period of separation between him and his daughter. We talk about international parenting, the role of the father with new borns and babies, supporting Mothers breastfeeding, the importance of understanding and forgiving his father, engaging with a child in a long distance relationship, the need for more information for Dads in their role in the child and parent relationship, and more. This is a great conversation for any Dads (or Moms), wondering about their role as fathers, especially with young children. She is the fourth female to become a Sentinel at The Tomb of the Unknowns. Ruth shares the history of the tomb, her experiences as a guard and how it has changed her life. What do you do when the training your organization requires you to accomplish doesn't actually prepare you for your mission or enhance your unit readiness. You create a board game, of course. A BETTER PEACE welcomes Mike Loftus, Will McKannay and Jim Markley to discuss how Mike and Will, with Jim's help, came to create a board game during their year at the U.S. Army War College. The three join podcast editor Ron Granieri to explain how their game helps to illustrate the development of appropriate requirements, training plans and reporting cycles for Brigade Combat Teams across the Army. Mike and Will sought out Jim to advise them on the actual game construction and the central question they were trying to answer. They then incorporated inputs from offices in the Pentagon, actual units in the field and the commanders that are living the readiness drill. I struggled and I questioned why we did so much training to meet certain gates to go someplace and then ultimately be told 'Hey that training was very useful, it got you ready, but doesn't meet the requirements of this particular mission.'   Lieutenant Colonel Mike Loftus is an Army Engineer who most recently served as Brigade Engineer Battalion Commander with the 1st Armored Division and forward deployed to the Republic of Korea. He previously served as a Fellow for the Chief of Staff of the Army Strategic Studies Group. Colonel Will McKannay is a Military Policeman with 26 years of service across all echelons most recently as a Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Battalion Commander. Jimmie Person grew up in Port Gibson, Mississippi during the 1930s.  In this episode, he recalls summers on his father’s plantation and the warm, nurturing environment small-town life provided the children.  Back when Person was a child, the closest hospital to Port Gibson was in Vicksburg. He remembers how doctors would make houses calls, and the childhood diseases of that time. When Person reached high school, he attended Chamberlain-Hunt Military Academy in Port Gibson. He reflects on life at the all-male school and how they hosted off-campus dances in an old ballroom. Arnold Taylor served in the U.S. Army's 99th Infantry Division as a Military Policeman during World War II. Taylor served in Europe with the unit as it advanced into Germany, and witnessed the terrible impact of war on the German people. The horrors of war shaped Arnold Taylor into a man of peace, and when he returned home he devoted his life to helping others.Arnold Taylor was a good friend of the AVC's, participating in the National Memorial Day Parade for the past fifteen years. SFC Preston Le Roy Schleinkofer, is a retired military veteran of 22 years and a retired federal officer with 27 years.   In continuing the series on the North American Sasquatch Researcher, Nite Callers Bigfoot Radio presents Robert Robinson from Florida. Robert Robinson was born at Hamilton AFB, CA. He grew up an Army brat and had the privilege of visiting Europe numerous times. After graduating high school at Lansing Kansas, Robert enlisted in the United States Army in June 1982. He received his Basic and Advanced Individual Training as a Military Policeman at Ft McClellan, Alabama. Rob, when he was young, became interested in Cryptozoology after watching the TV cartoon series “Jonny Quest” and the movies” The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas” and “The Legend of Boggy Creek”. His mother, who is from Scotland, related stories of the Loch Ness Monster, to him. Also, his uncle would relate scary stories of the Fouke Monster and Bigfoot. Because the whole subject of real monsters scared him, Rob started researching monster legends by reading every book he could. Rob also became interested in UFO and extratertriels after watching the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. His fear turned into intrigue and then became a hobby and passion. After retiring from the Army, Rob started going on Swamp Ape expedition with the Bigfoot Field Research Organization. Tracy (Rob’s wife) also had an interest in the unexplained and accompanied him on his monster hunts. Tracy also conducted paranormal research investigations such as haunting and ghosts. Rob has stated that “When you are out at night, monster or ghost hunting, there is nothing better than being scared and excited at the same time.
