There's a Better Way to Theme Your Wardrobe for a Disney Vacation

Forget matching Disney shirts. Matching shirts for a Disney vacation may be a common way to theme your Disney travel outfits, but there's a much better (and more fun way) to get into the Disney spirit by theming your family wardrobe more creatively.Choosing a theme can help to elevate and add some fun to your next Disney vacation Packing outfits for a Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation can be a lot of fun. Beyond the basics of packing for the season or the weather – or packing matching shirts for your family or group – there's another way to really elevate your Disney vacation style.  If you're like me and you're not a big fan of matching Disney shirts, then this Disney fashion style is a great way to go. Theming your wardrobe to your upcoming vacation (or at least part of it), can make it fun to pack and even more fun to co-ordinate with what you plan to do onsite. Ideas for How to Theme Your Disney World Wardrobe Princess Theme A Cinderella-inspired theme for your outfits, along with a visit to Cinderella's Royal Table, a Cinderella Meet and greet and more. Or, do the same with Princess Ariel, Princess Belle, or your favorite Disney princess. 1920s New Orleans Don't just do a Tiana wardrobe theme, expand it into 1920s New Orleans inspired outfits for the family. You can do everything from a Princess Tiana dress for your little ones, to more clever apparel for the adults and teens. Couple this with a Tiana Meet and Greet (she will love it), a ride on Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and if you're at Disneyland, a visit to Tiana's Palace and a stroll around New Orleans Square for photos. Toy Story Theme Toy Story offers so many opportunities to have fun theming your family/group's apparel. Everything from your favorites from the movie, to your favorite toys as a kid...they're all fair game to inspire your outfits. Then, it's off to Toy Story Land for a few rides, dining at Round-Up Rodeo BBQ and Toy Story character meetings. Star Wars Theme Star Wars also offers many opportunities to theme your family Disney outfits. Then, wander Galaxy's Edge, visit Oga's Cantina and pilot the Millennium Falcon. Animal Print Theme Visiting Animal Kingdom Park is much more fun when you have your animal inspired family outfits. Take pictures in the park, meet characters, dine at Tusker House, ride Kilimanjaro Safaris and have a little fun with Wilderness Explorers.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Update to Disney's Park Pass system on August 23rd On August 23, Disney made some updates within the Park Pass reservation system. Disney World Guests can now book Park Pass Reservations for all ticket types at the same time, so if you are an Annual Passholder and want to book with friends that have a single day ticket, you can make all the reservations at the same time. Another change is that Park Passes will be tied to a ticket and not a guest. This means that guests can have multiple ticket types (eg. Annual Pass, day ticket) and choose which ticket they would like to assign a Park Pass reservation to. Disney is also increasing the number of tickets that you can reserve from 12 to 30 guests, which should better accommodate larger traveling parties. And lastly, Guests who wish to make changes to their Park Pass Reservations can now edit the date and Park without having to cancel it first.5 Source: Blog Mickey and Walt Disney World website Return of Traditional Character Meet and Greets on DCL Disney Cruise Line announced the return of traditional character meet and greets across the fleet by August 29, 2022. This includes up-close encounters and autographs. In a statement, Disney Cruise Line says the return of traditional character greetings, up-close character greetings, and autographs, has begun across the fleet due to the latest guidance from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and proven success at their land based theme parks. Source: WDWNT and Disney Cruise Line website Tusker House Buffet returning in November Tusker House has been open serving family style meals, but on November 1st all meals at Tusker House will return to buffet service. This represents an increase over the normal 20% discount.  In order to obtain the discount, buyers must present proof of their Annual Passholder status along with a government issued photo ID. So far there is no word on whether or not this offer will be extended to Disney Vacation Club members who also receive a standard 20% discount on the same merchandise purchases. In other Passholder news, a new complimentary magnet is set to be distributed later this fall. No word on the design. Passholders will not be required to claim this magnet in person. Our favorite vegan foods in Magic Kingdom are the meatless sloppy joe at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, the Curried Vegetable Crew Stew at Skipper Canteen, the Impossible Meatloaf from Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Veggie Rice Bowl at Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. At EPCOT we highly recommend eating Vegan at Le Cellier and trying the Steamed Asian Dumplings, or ANYTHING at the Earth Eats Booth at the Food and Wine Festival. At Hollywood Studios, there's vegan food at the Brown Derby and vegan meals at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. The vegan dish at the Hollywood Brown Derby is Ginger-Lemongrass Pho. AMAZING. However, the best vegan at Hollywood Studios (IMO) is the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread. So flavorful, so filling, and mind-blowing for a vegan counter service meal at Disney. At Animal Kingdom be sure to hit up Satu'li Canteen to build your own bowl with fried tofu. There are also vegan food options at Tiffins, Tusker House, Harambe Market, Flame Tree Barbecue, and even Restaurantosaurus. Obviously, availability plays a role for popular attractions, but if you can help it, check out a map and select your FastPass times based on where/when you'll be in the park. This will save you a LOT of trekking back and forth. For example, if you have a reservation at Tusker House, schedule a FastPass for the Safari or Festival of the Lion King right before your meal. Eating lunch at Be Our Guest? Head to Enchanted Tales with Belle right after! Planning to watch the parade from Frontierland? Book a FastPass for Splash Mountain at 3:30 so you can hop on as soon as the floats clear. I did my best to follow this strategy for our last trip, and my family was thoroughly impressed - and grateful for less walking! The reception was originally planned for Expedition Everest Base Camp but was moved to Tusker House at the last minute due to weather—and Amanda says she ended up loving the new venue even more than Expedition Everest Base Camp! She also talks about her Fantasmic! dessert party with Tower of Terror ride mix-in, how she saved money by using outside vendors for the Grand Floridian portion of her event, and why her first look with Ben was her favorite part of the whole day!   Overview:  I visited Walt Disney World in late October as part of my annual tradition of enjoying the Food and Wine Festival.  This time, I went at it alone, but made new friends as I went to various booths.  And since I was there, I visited all the parks to check out construction activities, see what was new, and to of course ride a few favorite attractions. Notes: I had some fun hanging around, working on my video series, and enjoying some food!  I noticed with iOS12 my iPhone automatically added a location name to each recording, which was pretty slick.  And except for one recording, it was accurate.  The one that was wrong was when I was near the Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom.  For some reason, it said the recording was "Restroom" which I thought was pretty amusing. Report the Magic

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 28, 2019 101:01

Today I’m joined by Jennifer and I have been so excited to share this with you for so many reasons. First of all, Jennifer is kind of a Disney Newbie. Although this wasn’t her very first vacation to Walt Disney World, this was the very first trip she has planned herself. She just didn’t grow up with Disney…they went as kids but only one time. If you’re also planning your first trip, you’ll be grateful for her insight. The other reason you want to keep reading, is that we are bringing you an introduction to runDisney! If you’re a runner and you’ve never tried a runDisney race, or if you’ve never ran a step, but you’re thinking “This is my year!” and you want to run through Disney World, then keep reading for all the details. Trip dates: November 1 – 5  Why she chose trip dates:  Jennifer’s ambitious goal is to run every runDisney race in one season (a twelve month period) before her next birthday. How awesome is that?? She had a wonderful time running in April (when she first started running!) A friend had invited her to run Star Wars Rival Run Weekend and it was so much fun that she was hooked. In a big way. Jennifer has booked every race weekend through the Star Wars Rival Run Challenge in April 2019. Resort Review: Coronado Springs and the Dolphin Disney’s Coronado    MagicBand  Amazon Prime Now   Dolphin  Marriott Rewards    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend  Port Orleans, Riverside  Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend    Beach Club   International Gateway  Trip Planning Details Travel Party: Jennifer traveled to Orlando from Dallas and her sister met her from Buffalo.  Disney Dining Plan: No  Park Tickets: Annual Pass  Memory Maker   PhotoPass   Tables in Wonderland – Yes.  Read more about Tables in Wonderland here.  Lessons Jennifer learned while planning her first Walt Disney World vacation Trip Planning Tools: The Internet.  Phil Gramlich You can read Phil’s Insider Tips for Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line here. You can learn more about dining in Walt Disney World with a food allergy here. Last minute reservations at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom Everything you need to know about runDisney Becoming a runner It was an absolute blast. It was super fun even getting up at 2:00 in the morning to go run. runDisney: The details Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend   Uber   Lyft  ESPN Wide World of Sports  The Itinerary Arrival Day: ESPN Wide World of Sports and Epcot Food & Wine Festival  I wish I was hungrier. I would have pre-gamed better, ate way less during the day, and also probably worn stretchier pants. Day Two: 5K and Magic Kingdom I had only ridden it with my sister, the one that was with me. We’re two years and two days apart in age, so we pretty much did everything together as kids. So I didn’t want to do Haunted Mansion without her. (I didn’t do it in April when I was there.) We jumped into the Haunted Mansion FastPass+ line, and we just rolled right in and it was awesome. It was just as amazing as it was a lot of years ago. The rides aren’t any smaller. They’re not any lamer, you know, they’re not like, ‘oh, this was fun as a kid, but it’s dumb as an adult’ it’s exactly as awesome as it was when I was eight or ten or however old I was. Day Three: 10K and Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot Garden Grill There were kids around us. I’m pretty sure they were not as excited as we were because we just looked at each other and started shrieking! Day Four: Half Marathon and Animal Kingdom Two Course Challenge    Disney Springs  Favorite Vacation Memories Jennifer’s sister had a really hard time defining her favorite memory of this trip. However she did mention riding the Haunted Mansion together…they actually have two older siblings and the whole family drove down from western New York, six people in a wood paneled station wagon and it was as awesome as any trip you could imagine. Being able to relive those vivd memories in the Magic Kingdom was really special. Jennifer’s favorite memory is also riding the Haunted Mansion. Riding it with the same person that she always rode with as a kid, because they were always paired together in a family of six. Their two older siblings rode together or one rode with their Mom and the other with their Dad, but Jennifer and her Sister always rode together. So getting back in the Dune buggy together was just so awesome. Her other favorite memory was at Animal Kingdom. As you look at the Tree of Life, there’s a kiosk literally right on the left (as you’re walking down towards the tree), where they stopped to get Mickey ice cream bars because that was their favorite snack is a kid. The two sisters just stood there, staring at this tree, just talking with each other, eating Mickey bars. Finally Jennifer has a photo of her standing in front of the Tree of Life with all of her medals from the weekend. What a perfect souvenir!

MouseChat.net – Disney, Universal, Orlando FL News & Reviews

Should you see Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom? We booked the Rivers of Light dining package so we could review Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom for you. Tusker House for lunch was fabulous. We have two adults an 11 year old and a 7 year old. Our total bill for the buffet lunch with tax and tip was $220. That's a bunch of money for lunch but again the variety of food at Tusker House is a relief when you have been eating chicken nuggets and burgers at theme parks. The seating for the 7:15 PM Rivers of Light show when you get the dining package, is great. I would get to the Rivers of Light seating area at 6:30 - 6:45 PM for the 7:15 PM show. This is for those that have the Rivers of Light dining package. If you don't have the Rivers of Light dining package you need to get to the show earlier to get a seat. I also would get a Fastpass if you did not purchase the dining package. Rivers of Light Review First, it is great to see some night time activities at Animal Kingdom. The nighttime safari, the Tree of Life show and now Rivers of Light. If you have seen Wishes at the Magic Kingdom, or Fantasmic at Disneyland or Disney World, Or World of Color at Disneyland, Rivers of Light is nothing like these which for me was disappointing. I think my expectations were set to high. The last two Disney nighttime shows I saw were Dreams at Disneyland Paris and World of Color at Disneyland. Those shows are AMAZING! Rivers of Light is worth seeing once but lacked emotion. I was hoping Disney would take the best from World of Color with projections and fountains, and add like actors, to that type of show. What's nice about Rivers of Light. This shows extends Animal Kingdom to a full day park and gives you something to gather with family and friends to watch. The floats are beautiful Seating seems to be good from most if not all of the river side seating areas.
