Summary In this episode, Becca and Toni discuss their experiences at the 2025 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival. They share their thoughts on the festival's menu, the balance between food and wine offerings, and their personal favorites and disappointments from the event. The conversation also includes tips for attendees and reflections on how this year's festival compares to previous ones. Takeaways The festival leaned more towards wine than food this year. Many food booths offered fewer items than in previous years. Some attendees did not deem the Sip and Savor Pass worth it. The California Punch was a standout beverage choice. Lemon Pepper Wings received positive feedback for flavor. The pineapple and coconut cheesecake was a highlight for many. Some food items were disappointing and lacked flavor. The festival felt crowded, impacting the overall experience. Ordering food ahead can save time, but check date restrictions. This year's festival was considered less exciting than previous years. The casting call is looking for “vibrant, energetic, and dynamic vocalists of all gender identities.” The performer chosen will be a DJ host who is youthful, quirky, and has great comedic timing, according to the post. The sipper is in the shape of a Megabot – the robot seen in the opening scenes of the movie. It looks like the pricing has increased on the items, so a Sip and Savor Pass might be the way to go. No pricing has been released for the pass at this time. – https://www.micechat.com/407847-disneyland-news-fires-hope-next-chapter/ When purchasing a Sip and Savor pass this year, you will have another choice to make: what design do you want? This year's passes will come in three limited designs which pay homage to either Chinese, Vietnamese, or Korean cultures, while also featuring Disney characters in culturally-inspired outfits designed by artist Ann Shen. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/sip-and-savor/ A new beignet has come to the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. The display on the balcony above the new Louis' Critter Club has been redecorated to a dressing room with musical instruments and a fan mail box. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ Weeklyteers who will be traveling to Disneyland with kids in early 2025 should take advantage of a new ticket offer. Children ages 3 through 9 can get a ticket for as low as $50 for a one day, one park ticket for visits from January 7th through March 20th. This deal goes on sale October 22nd. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/50-kids-disneyland-ticket-savings-on-hotel-stays/ Some good news for those of you who didn't want Avatar in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. Micechat reports that locations for the new Coco and Avatar projects have been in flux. After studying the crowd flow on Pixar Pier, there may not be enough room for an extended queue where the planned Coco attraction would be located. It was suggested to move the Coco attraction to Hollywood Land, which would allow for Monsters, Inc. to be saved as Coco would move into the Hollywood and Dine location. This leaves the Avatar project without a home for now. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The Jungle Cruise has returned from it's two week refurbishment. We had hoped that the tiger's stone surroundings would have returned, but they have not. However, both African bull elephants are back, the piranhas are functional again, and overall looks in good shape. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The lounge in the Disneyland Hotel's Fantasyland Tower has a new name! The Broken Spell Lounge is located next to Goofy's Kitchen and has a darker vibe, with forest accents and dark colors. Disney did not announce the name change, or put up a new sign, but they did update the navigational signage around the hotel. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/10/01/did-disney-just-quietly-change-a-restaurant-name/ While you are stopping into the Market House on Main Street for a morning beverage, be sure to pick up the newest sweet creation. The S'mores Cake Donut has arrived and is made of a graham cracker cake donut, chocolate ganache, and topped with a toasted marshmallow. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ A new Disney Parks cookbook has gone on sale, and to celebrate, Disney has posted the recipe for the Celebration Chocolate Fudge Brownies. These brownies were available at the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This recipe has just a few ingredients and looks fun for the whole family to create and eat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-celebration-chocolate-fudge-brownie-recipe/ For the select few who will be taking a VIP tour, there are some new exclusive items. A new line of VIP tour merchandise featuring the iconic plaid design is available to guests taking a VIP tour. The new items can only be purchased the day of the tour and are limited to one of each item per guest. There is a spirit jersey, pin and keychain set, lanyard, ornament, Loungefly mini backpack, and, of course, an ear headband. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ When the holidays arrive at the resort, a popular tradition will return to Downtown Disney. The Holiday Gingerbread Workshop has guests of all ages build and decorate a gingerbread house at the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio. The event is $35 per person and includes unlimited hot chocolate, one assorted mini dessert plate, and a digital photo with Santa. The gingerbread house is an additional $56 per house, with one house per group required, which includes a bag of assorted candies and icing for decorating, plus a limited edition 2024 Jazz Kitchen ornament. Welcome to GEEKS CORNER! This week Caitie is back from Walt Disney World and shares about her experience there, particularly with TRON Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Before getting into the discussion about Walt Disney World Resort, however, there is a discussion about some current events. This mainly revolves around the Fantasmic! accident that caused Maleficent to go up in smoke. The real tragedy of this accident was not an animatronic dragon, however. It is those who worked around it. The GEEKS chat about this. This week also saw the end of the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and with it, the end of Phat Cat Swinger's run for the season. The GEEKS discuss their favorite songs from this favorite band. Along with all of these topics, the GEEKS also try out the pickles that they made and introduced last week. This week's podcast guest talks about something close to my heart - FOOD!Growing up overweight most of my childhood and still identifying as someone who has to watch her weight, I'm always interested in learning more about cultivating a healthy relationship with food. My guest this week is chef Daniella Malfitano @chefdmalfi. Daniella is a chef of 15 years and a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and she's passionate about helping you use food to heal and thrive. She's created and hosted Delicious Discoveries for PBS and was also the producer of the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, hosting all of the Food Network stars and celebrity chefs from all over the United States on the Disney stage. She's written and produced her own in-park show about healthy living and edited cookbooks. Her impressive culinary experience belies a super personable, relatable and wonderful human being. We talk about her transition from being a traditional chef to a plant-based chef and what Daniella refers to as being the antithesis of a chef! These days, Daniella streams live demonstrations of her plant-based recipes daily on her live cooking show. Daniella takes us on her journey of listening to your intuition, acting on your calling, even when it's difficult, painful and involves twists and turns along the way. Find out how Daniella went from nursing to food, what they have in common, what spirituality and God has to do with food, and how you can become plant-based even if it's just a few times a week as a way to get healthier, save the planet and be kinder to animals!RESOURCESConnect with Daniella on:Instagram @chefdmalfiFacebook @chefdaniellamalfitanoYouTubePlant-Based Made Easy Facebook Group

The trams are coming back this month! Disneyland posted on Twitter that the trams are returning Febraury 24rd! It has been just under two years since the trams cycled between the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures and Downtown Disney. – https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1491818730095104000 and https://www.micechat.com/314063-disneyland-trams-returning/ Guests who take the rafts over to Tom Sawyer's Island in the near future will have a unique experience. The refurbishment of Fantasmic! has made the dock used for guests unavailable at the moment, so the rafts are docking at the Fantasmic! support dock further down the river. To keep river traffic safe, when leaving the island, guests are taken around the entire island and back to the dock. This is a uniqie opportunity to see the river this way. No word on how long the dock will be closed for work, but act fast! – https://www.micechat.com/314132-disneyland-update-parking-trams-food-festival-super-bowl/ Another favorite nighttime spectacular has made more progress toward performances again. The World of Color projector housings have been reinstalled along the backside of Paradise Bay. The previous housings had a lot of weather damage that would not be repaired. Once the new housing installation is completed, the show should be ready to begin testing and adjustments before opening to the public sometime this spring. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/02/world-of-color-projector-houses-installed-at-paradise-bay-lagoon-at-disney-california-adventure/ For Weeklyteers in the United States, this last weekend was the Super Bowl. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinatti Bengals 23 to 20. What does this have to do with Disneyland? Well, the Rams players MVP Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald and Matthew Stafford said that iconic phrase “I'm going to Disneyland!” And they did! The champions took part in a Cavalcade down Main Street, a trip around Avenger's Campus, and more. To see the highlights, visit the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/02/mvp-cooper-kupp-aaron-donald-and-matthew-stafford-celebrate-super-bowl-win-at-disneyland-resort-with-a-jubilant-cavalcade/ With the big 50th anniversary celebration for Walt Disney World in full swing, a couple of board games are coming out to mark the occassion. One of them is called “The Happiest Day Game,” which the description reads “It's a delightful game of sharing and discovery! Visit exciting attractions, meet cherished characters, and experience magical moments throughout the Magic Kingdom Park. Along the way, you'll share your favorite ways to spend the day. When Tinker Bell reaches the top of the castle, the game board magically transforms from day to night! It's an enchanting adventure every time you play!” The one that we are most excited for is the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad game! The description reads “This here is the wildest game in the wilderness! Step off the stagecoach and into the cursed mining town of Tumbleweed. Will you find fortune mining the mysterious mountain, or awaken its many dangers? Discover gold-filled veins, grow your mining operations with new equipment, and invest in the town's businesses. With the right strategy and a dash of good ol' fashioned luck, you may strike it rich!” Sounds fun. Both games come out this spring and are not open for pre-orders just yet. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/02/new-50th-anniversary-magic-kingdom-and-big-thunder-mountain-railroad-board-games-by-funko-coming-soon/ Discussion Topic: Debbie and Steve from Designer Park Co. – https://designerparkco.com/

News: Some new and returning entertainment is coming to Disneyland in 2022. An expanded “Celebrate Gospel!” will debut in February at the Fantasyland Theater, and “Tale of the Lion King” will return in the spring, also to the Fantasyland Theater. The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Main Street in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. Fantasmic! and World of Color are also announced to return, with no firm time frame yet. Finally, Disneyland Forever fireworks will also be lighting up the sky once again in 2022. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/more-fan-favorite-entertainment-returns-to-disneyland-resort-in-2022-including-celebrate-gospel-and-tale-of-the-lion-king/ Nothing quite beats a food festival at Disneyland! Lunar New Year and Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festivals are returning in 2022. The Lunar New Year celebration in 2022 is based on the Year of the Tiger, so Tigger will be joining the festivities. Raya, from Raya and the Last Dragon will make her debut at Disneyland for the celebration as well. The Lunar New Year runs January 21st through February 13th. Starting March 4th and running through April 26th, the Food and Wine Festival will return. Sip and Savor passes will be offered for both celebrations. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/fan-favorite-limited-time-festivals-return-to-the-disneyland-resort-in-2022-lunar-new-year-and-disney-california-adventure-food-wine-festival/ As we have been covering for a few weeks now, Jessica Rabbit is taking over Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. Last week, Jessica Rabbit, dressed in her best detective outfit, made her appearance in the attraction. A new figure was placed next to the car trunk that she used to be inside of, then where she held the sledgehammer, she has been changed over to the new look, and finally, her silhouette has been updated in the queue to reflect the new look. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/11/photos-new-detective-jessica-rabbit-animatronic-debuts-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/309922-roger-rabbit-cover-up-at-disneyland-jessicas-new-starring-role/ The Disability Access Service, better known as “DAS” has been improved! Starting with visits on December 20th, guests who utilize the service can pre-register for the service virtually with a Cast Member. To do this, guests use a live video chat feature as early as 30 days prior to their visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival. Guests can then book up to two one-hour return windows for select experiences, per day in advance. In the future, Disney says that guests enrolled in the system will be able to same-day self-select an attraction, without having to visit with guest relations. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/07/guests-can-now-virtually-pre-register-for-disneylands-disability-access-service/ It was great to be able to ride it's a small world on it's first day of operation for the holiday season, but it took a lot of work to get it open! The Disney Parks Blog documented the process. The underground maintenance room of the attraction, known as “the pit” flooded on November 10th, while refilling was underway. Almost all of the ride control machinery is in the pit, and was submerged in at least 7 feet of water. Twenty different teams sprung into action to get the attraction working again. They set a timeline of 4 weeks to get it operational again. More than 200,000 gallons of water needed to be pumped out of the pit before teams could even begin to determine the damage. Teams worked to determine what could be cleaned and salvaged, and what needed to be replaced. Many of the spare parts which they could use were stored in the same pit. The team reached out to small world attractions around the world to get the needed parts. They met the goal of under 4 weeks and reopened the attraction on December 6th. The timeline was expected to be several months under normal conditions. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/how-disneyland-resort-cast-rallied-to-open-its-a-small-world-holiday/ We saw first hand how the launch of the Genie system in Disneyland went last week. The first hour or so worked well as we were able to buy our Genie+ service, and make a couple of Lightning Lane reservations for Guardians and Midway Mania. We were even able to mobile order some food and have a lot of PhotoPass photos taken. About an hour into the day, the entire system went mostly unresponsive. The free Genie service to plan the day only displayed an error, and reservations for Lightning Lane attractions could not be made. Even the Lightning Lane+ pay-per-attraction options were not available. However, around 5pm, the system seemed to come back online and continued to work for us perfectly until the end of the night. Even the couple hours the next morning, the free portion of the service seemed to be working well. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ If, like us, you were in the parks on December 10th for the launch of Genie+, and you used the service, you may have received an email from Disneyland. The email states that they are “working to provide recovery” for the launch. Not exactly sure what that means at this time, but it is possible that Disney will either refund guests, or provide some other perk for the inconvenience. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/13/select-disneyland-genie-users-to-be-provided-recovery/ A new Star Wars photo opportunity has come to Downtown Disney. Next to the Star Wars Trading Post, there are two new displays for The Book of Boba Fett, the new Disney+ show coming later this month. The first is a throne that Boba can be seen sitting on in the trailer for the new show. The second is a sand crawler, which fans will know from the original movies and the Mandalorian. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ A strange construction project that drew a lot of attention has finally been completed. The right side of the walkway to ToonTown has finally come out from behind construction walls and has been revealed to be an ADA access ramp. Theories had been talked about like a new Lightning Lane queue, or other odd options, but this is just an ADA ramp for people needing the less bumpy path and slighly less grade going to ToonTown. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ It is going to be easier to spot former Disneyland, and other Disney Parks Ambassadors in the future. New gold Disney Ambassador Alumni name tags have been created that take their inspiration from Walt Disney's Disneyland employee #1 badge. The new name tags were presented to the current alumni at a recent alumni gathering. So, next time you are in the parks, be on the lookout for a gold name tag to see if you are in the presence of a former Disneyland Ambassador. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/new-alumni-name-tag-for-disney-ambassadors/ It has been a little while since guest's paper parks have been able to grow – until now. A new Disney Paper Parks: Holiday Edition has been posted on the Disney Parks Blog. The Paper Parks are designed by Imagineers for all to enjoy. The holiday version is 12 ornaments, for the 12 days of Christmas, featuring different parks around the world. Starting in Disneyland and moving through all the parks around the world, this is a set not to be missed! Last week, Disneyland hosted a Galaxy of Wishes fundraising event in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The money raised from this event will help the Make a Wish Foundation be able to grant more wishes for children with critical illnesses. Disneyland was part of the first wish back in 1980. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/galaxy-of-wishes-disneyland-resort-and-make-a-wish-join-forces-to-create-more-magic/ We wanted to have the final update on the Cast Member union negotiations and voting that took place a couple of weeks ago. The Cast Members voted to accept the current contract, which will offer $1 per hour retroactive to June 16, 2021, $1 per hour starting June 16, 2022, but being pulled forward to November 17th, 2021, and a final $1 per hour on June 16, 2023. Cast members who were hired on or before June 16, 2001 will get $2000 for fulltime and $1000 for part time, one time payments. Cast members hired between June 17th, 2001 and June 16, 2011 will receive $1000 for full time and $500 for part time, one time payments. The Mouse Castle Lounge Podcast: Disney News and Interviews, Cocktails and Conversations
For the first time in way too long, the Food and Wine Festival has returned to Disney California Adventure. It's going on this month every Friday, Saturday and Sunday ending on May 1st. It's a celebration of the tastes of California and an opportunity to sample an assortment of beverages and tasty treats you can't otherwise find at DCA. You can eat and drink your way from Carthay Circle to Paradise Pier at 8 different Festival Marketplaces, plus there are a number of beverage seminars and culinary demonstrations happening throughout the event. In Hollywood Land, they've set up a celebrity kitchen. For $99 per person you can enjoy presentations by famous chefs like Andrew Sutton, Guy Fieri, Keegan Gerhard, G. Gavin and Graham Eliot--and no, not all those presentations are sold out yet. You can find out more by visiting https://disneyland.disney.go.com/events-tours/disney-california-adventure/food-and-wine-festival. Last weekend, Team Mouse Castle dropped by the Food and Wine Festival and, oh yes, we sampled as many culinary offerings as we could. Saturday night, we all got together at Napa Rose inside the Grand Californian Hotel and shared our thoughts about Food and Wine, how it compares to similar past events at DCA and especially how much of a value it is for guests. Team Mouse Castle overindulges in food and wine—what could possibly go wrong? Enjoy!www.TheMouseCastle.comRSS Feed: http://themousecastle.libsyn.com/rss
