Today's episode of UFC Unfiltered delivers a powerful mix of rising talent and personal triumph as Jim and Matt welcome UFC featherweight prospect Austin Bashi and DWCS hopeful Jimmy Drago. First up is Bashi, fresh off his first UFC victory — a slick first-round submission over John Yannis. He reflects on bouncing back from his debut loss, chasing a dream he's had since childhood, and what it was like mimicking Alexander Volkanovski in Diego Lopes' camp. Between guests, Jim and Matt break down highlights from UFC Fight Night: Taira vs. Park — including standout performances from Tatsuro Taira, Chris Duncan, Esteban Ribovics, and more. Then, Jimmy Drago joins ahead of his Dana White's Contender Series debut on August 12th. The Yonkers native shares his incredible story — from losing his father, a 9/11 first responder, to battling addiction and surviving eight overdoses. With sobriety, discipline, and grit, Drago turned a goal of just winning one pro fight into a legitimate UFC dream — and he's one win away from making it real when he faces Ty Miller on the first DWCS card of 2025.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller is joined by PWTorch's Chris Adams to review WWE Smackdown with the final hype for Summerslam. They focus first at great length on the top story in the show, which is John Cena's apparently seemingly turning back babyface. They discuss an array of scenarios along with certain wording Cena used that completely undercut the potential impact of his turn and the psychology within the pro wrestling industry that leads to people not even thinking about it.They also go in depth on WWE Unreal and how there's an aspect of it that is going to unravel an aspect of WWE that WWE didn't think about or care about, and why they don't think about it or, if they do, why they mistakenly dismiss the downside. Finally, they get into the Seth Rollins potential cash-in on Saturday night and talk through a scenario where maybe it could make sense for Seth Rollins too fake his injury (although it's still, ultimately, flimsily and more likely a product of today's promoters and wrestlers caring more about "fooling fans" than telling the best, most effective and immersive stories.Scattered throughout are comments on other aspects of the show including Jelly Roll attacking a helpless little security guy and the culture of WWE that leads to everything not even thinking about how counterproductive the message is that his actions send to the narrative of the stories they try to tell in other segments.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-post-shows--3275545/support.

Re-Releasing my old episode with the great Geoff Thompson, whose bestseller, "Watch My Back" was. Apivotal book for me, first reading it as a teenage martial artist in England. Geoff is a man who has lived many lives. In his earlier years he worked on some of the toughest “doors” in Coventry, as a Bouncer, sometimes literally fighting for his life to protect the innocent against the violent (four of his colleagues were murdered during this time). He went in to become the prolific author of over 50 books, an award-winning film maker, a spiritual teacher, and has been a life-long martial artist. Geoff wrote two books solely about fear: both overcoming fear and developing a strong mindset to face challenging situations. I remember reading these back when I was fighting in MMA to get my mind ready for combat, but his writings on overcoming fear are useful in almost any endeavor, especially the fear of being an entrepreneur with no steady paycheck. Geoff has empowered countless people to not only face their fears and improve their personal safety, but to lead happier, more confident lives. And that is what martial arts is about. Leading better lives. Until next time, love and good vibes.
