Join the MMA Fighting staff as we look back at the biggest highs, surprises, and most unbelievable moments of 2025 in a special year-end retrospective. We're honoring all the nights that defined a rollercoaster of a year this sport has seen in quite some time — and handing out plenty of hardware in celebration of the knockouts, submissions, fights, fighters, and breakthrough competitors who made sure 2025 was a year that will be remembered. This year, the categories seemed tougher than ever in regards to determining a winner, along with figuring out who belonged in the top-five overall. We invite you to stick around for the final award, which features controversy like never before in the history of MMA Fighting award shows. For the final episode of UFC Unfiltered in 2025, Jim Norton and Matt Serra put a bow on the year that was and look ahead to what 2026 might hold. The guys open the show by revisiting their 2025 predictions, breaking down how the season played out after a razor-thin race in their season-long picks competition. Matt finished ahead on total points, while Jim led in correctly predicted winners — setting the stage for plenty of friendly back-and-forth.From there, Jim and Matt hand out eight end-of-year awards, including four official #UFCHonors categories that fans can begin voting on December 27, along with four Unfiltered-only awards the guys add in their own annual tradition. They debate the biggest fights, knockouts, submissions, comebacks, and breakout performances of 2025 — while giving special shine to standout runs that defined the year. The conversation then shifts to the future as the guys roll out their UFC holiday wish list for 2026, discussing everything from potential superfights and divisional clarity to fighters poised for massive breakout years.Jim and Matt wrap things up by calling their shots for 2026, predicting which fighters — including possible first-time champions — could be wearing gold by this time next year, and whether the very top of the women's divisions could see major shakeups.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
With just a couple of days left in the year, it's almost time to say goodbye to 2025, and hello to 2026. In the sport of MMA, there was certainly a lot to like this past year — and a lot that needs to be improved upon, from the UFC, to PFL, and beyond. On an all-new edition of Between the Links, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew bring you the fourth annual BTL Promotional Festivus — where they grade the UFC for their 2025 performance, both in and out of the octagon, along with their airing of grievances for things that happened negatively throughout the course of the year. Additionally, the duo do the same for PFL, BKFC, and give their thoughts on things they did better from the year prior, other ideas to bring into 2026, and what could be the breakout promotion in the space for the upcoming year. The Packers controlled every aspect of Sunday's game against the Bears—until they didn't. In this raw, emotional episode, we break down the gut-wrenching late-game collapse that left every Packer fan feeling that sickening 2014 NFC Championship déjà vu the moment Chicago recovered that onside kick. A retired Marine Corps officer calls in with a powerful message about warrior spirit and mental toughness that completely shifted our perspective on what this team is missing. We dive deep into why the NFLPA's practice restrictions have created a league of talented athletes who can't handle adversity, exploring how elite performers in every other field—from bodybuilders to MMA fighters to Navy SEALs—are broken down and rebuilt to handle exactly these moments. The conversation gets heated about Matt LaFleur's ability to motivate, Rich Bisacchia's special teams disasters, and whether Bears fans have any right to gloat after barely beating our decimated roster. With two winnable games remaining against the Ravens and Vikings, this team has a choice: find their heart or go home. We also address the Keyshawn Nixon situation, the corner position moving forward, and why talent alone will never win championships. This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! On this episode of The Schaub Show, Brendan Schaub gives his unfiltered breakdown of Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua, why the fight was never competitive, and why calling it “brave” completely misses the point. Brendan explains how the fight should have been marketed, why the idea of a “puncher's chance” doesn't apply at this level, and how boxing continues to sell narratives that casual fans don't fully understand. He also breaks down the difference between actually engaging in a fight versus surviving for rounds, why the money changes everything, and why this kind of matchup could only happen in boxing. The episode also touches on boxing vs MMA, how real fighting works at the elite level, the role of promotion and streaming platforms, and why Jake Paul has been able to exploit a broken system while making more money than most champions ever will.DraftKings - Download the DraftKings Sportsbook app and use code SCHAUBSHOW. Off the Mats Podcast #292 features a conversation with Naomi Ives of Ivey League MMA and Crazy 88 MMA, a longtime teammate whose jiu-jitsu journey reflects the realities many practitioners face but rarely articulate in full. We discuss how she began training, the gym environments that shaped her early identity on the mats, and how consistency, setbacks, and self-perception evolved. Rather than centering the discussion on highlights alone, this episode focuses on the quieter chapters that define longevity in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. A major part of the conversation addresses injury, how it first showed up, what it took away, and what it demanded in return. Naomi breaks down the physical and mental cost of being sidelined, the uncertainty that comes with rebuilding trust in your body, and the internal work required when progress slows or stops altogether. We discuss practical changes she made during her return, including how she adjusted training intensity, partner selection, positional choices, and recovery habits, as well as the conversations she learned to have with coaches and teammates. We also explore how parenthood reshaped her relationship with training. That includes managing time and energy, redefining what a productive training week looks like, and navigating guilt on both sides of the equation, being on the mats and being away from them. Naomi reflects on what jiu-jitsu has taught her about patience and composure, and what parenting has clarified about priorities, boundaries, and sustainability in training. The episode closes with a look at where her jiu-jitsu is now and what success looks like at this stage. This is a practical, honest conversation about resilience, identity beyond performance, and staying connected to jiu-jitsu through injury, life changes, and shifting goals.
