Political resistance to Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign
POPULARITY
Some say Trump won a second term one year ago today when his head was almost blown off on live television. Maybe that's true. Maybe it isn't. Luck was most certainly on his side that bright, beautiful day in Butler, Pennsylvania. I'd been looking forward to the rally because he was returning to a place made almost famous in MAGA lore by Tucker Carlson, who explained Trump's appeal better than anyone else ever had.So when Trump was almost assassinated, the first question I had was Why Butler? Even one year later, it seems odd that it happened there, especially since US intelligence already knew Trump's life was threatened, and outside in Butler, there were many rooftops, and many ways to climb on top of them. It wasn't secure, but then again, MAGA rallies seemed like the last place anyone would get away with shooting Trump. In September, another assassin would give it a shot, a burned-out Gen-X surfer dude who wanted to “save democracy.” But one year after Butler, it's as though the tragedy never happened at all. The Left never fully absorbed it and is awash in assassination porn every day, and the Right, well, let's just say there are many forces at work to break up the grassroots movement otherwise known as MAGA.Here is a look back at the good, the bad, and the ugly of this past year. The GoodOne year after Butler, Trump's presidency has been a smashing success when you look at everything he's accomplished, from the historic bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities to the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, to passing the One Big Beautiful Bill, and several key Supreme Court decisions in his favor. The tariffs seem to have worked out, and the economy is humming. One year after Butler, the Secret Service has been overhauled. They will continue to reform the agency, they say, to prevent something that catastrophic from happening again. One year after Butler, Corey Comperatore is remembered as a hero. He protected his family from gunfire. But to those he left behind, they don't feel like there has been enough closure on the case - how could they have left them unprotected? But on Saturday, the community came together to honor Corey with a motorcycle ride called Corey's Cruise:Corey's Cruise, that's the MAGA spirit. Paying tribute to one of their own.One year after Butler, journalist Selena Zito published the definitive account of that day. A Pennsylvania native, Zito captures Butler and cares enough about the place and its people to tell the story of its history and why it mattered that Trump came to Butler at all. He's the only sitting president ever to do so, she says. Zito has seen Trump in a way no other mainstream journalist ever has, and even tops Tucker Carlson, I think, in explaining Trump and his appeal. Maybe because she knows the time and place of which she writes, or maybe it's something else, an ability to see what other people can't. One year after Butler, it has been promises made and promises kept for people like me. I voted for Trump for two reasons. To protest the unprecedented, authoritarian lawfare by Joe Biden and the Democrats and to put an end to the gender madness that was destroying the minds and bodies of children. It is still hard for me to believe this is going on in America with no guardians on the Left to protect kids. When I see videos like this, I am reminded of why I voted for Trump and why I would vote for him a thousand times over:One year after Butler, the Trump administration is going after John Brennan and James Comey for Russiagate:Matt Taibbi has been on the story for years and goes into it at length on America This Week. The BadOne year after Butler, Elon Musk, who said he became a Trump supporter that day, is now a Trump hater, someone so filled with rage and resentment that he started his own political party just to hurt Trump. And said on Twitter that Trump is in the Epstein Files, which put the whole ugly scandal into motion. The truth? Musk was likely burned after Trump shut him out of the inner circle. The richest man in the world might be among the most fragile, and hell hath no fury like an Elon scorned.Tucker Carlson is parting ways with the Trump administration because of Iran and Israel, now proclaiming Israel is the one behind the Epstein cover-up. He's also saying, in his recent speech for Turning Point, that it's no big deal to kick biological men out of women's sports. Who cares? One year after Butler, fair weather MAGA like Andrew Schultz, Theo Von, and Joe Rogan aren't ride or die Trump supporters anymore. They chose him at the time as the better option, but if Trump doesn't give them exactly what they want — not fund Ukraine, wash their hands of Israel, or reduce the government deficit, whatever it is, they're free agents now ripe for the picking. One year after Butler, a war has broken out between the head of the FBI, Dan Bongino, and Attorney General Pam Bondi over the promised release of the Epstein Files. MAGA wants Bondi to be fired or to step down because of it. She made it seem like there was a client list and they would be naming names. But then abruptly announced that no, there isn't one and case closed. So Trump has had to take to Truth Social to defend her and try to steady the ship, but more and more people are reading this like a cover-up. In other words, MAGA is leading a Watergate-like situation to take down its own leader. into its own leader, doing the Democrats' dirty work without even trying:Both the Left and the Never Trumpers are using the Epstein case in hopes of dividing and conquering MAGA. And from the looks of it, they're winning. It reminds me of that song from U2, So Cruel, “I gave you everything you ever wanted, it wasn't what you wanted.”Even though the Democrats had the files all through Biden's presidency, they are counting on people being stupid enough to believe them when they pretend to care:The UglyOne year after Butler, almost no one cares about the shooter, Thomas Crooks. He is a ghost. If Thomas Crooks had succeeded, would he have been made a hero like Luigi Mangione? Is that what he was seeking, that kind of adulation and respect? He was not only a nobody, a loner, but like so many others, spent his formative years on lockdown, online. Who knows who got to him?One year later, the lesson was not learned because the tragedy was never fully absorbed. All they knew was that they were angry the shooter missed. We have to assume that, yes, Crooks would have been remembered well if he hadn't. Instead, he was shot and killed in the blazing sun on a rooftop at just 20 years old. One year after Butler, comments like this are not just accepted but encouraged. Nothing has changed for the Democrats and the Left; their propaganda press and the so-called “resistance” have not done a single thing differently after their defeat. They didn't absorb what happened on their side, the debate, the cognitive decline, the George Clooney op-ed, and Kamala Harris' terrible campaign. If anything, they've become even more emboldened to amplify their hate against Trump, as if they never saw him shot at all, as if they didn't just suffer the greatest political humiliation in modern American history. But they did. We were there. We saw. All it's meant to them, one year after Butler, is that they have to wish harder for Trump's demise. They have to get louder and meaner. One year after Butler and the Left still have no power except for one Democratic Socialist on the rise, who is leading them even further into fanaticism. The day I called Trump “My President”If I'd never left the Doomsday Bunker and found my way to watching a MAGA rally, I'd have never humanized Trump either. I, too, might have said about both of these attempted assassinations, “Too bad he missed.” But I did escape. I had to leave when the hatred I was engaging in made me feel sick. I knew I had to do something to understand better why we were on one side and they were on the other, and why we felt it was okay to treat half the country like human garbage. At first, the MAGA rallies were like homework. I was looking for the smoking gun. Was Trump really Hitler? Was he a bigot and a racist? No. He was just someone who didn't follow our strict rules of language, which had become so rigid that we didn't even know what basic words meant anymore, like man and woman. Over time, the rallies became, for me, the one bright spot amid a long, miserable, dark winter. They were celebrations with happy people. None of them judged each other. All of them were part of an America that people like me had abandoned long ago. Finding my humanity in 2020 would change the course of my life, something I could never have predicted would hit me in middle age. All I knew was that I had to do what I thought was the right thing, and humanizing my enemies was it. So, of course, I was watching Trump's rally in Butler. I wouldn't miss it. When I saw Trump was shot, I said, “Please, God, not my president.” My president. I didn't vote for him in 2020, so how could he be my president? And besides, he hadn't even won yet.I can't really explain it except to say that by then, I knew the forces that had been marshaled to remove Trump from power by any means necessary, and there were only a few months left before it was too late for them. Would they really go this far? Could they? Would it have been like shooting fish in a barrel to find vulnerable people who might want to make something of their miserable lives by becoming famous for taking out Public Enemy Number One?I guess it's as Rupert Pupkin says in The King of Comedy, “better King for a day than schmuck for a lifetime.”One year after Butler, we'll never know the answer to that. If there ever was any evidence, it's long gone by now. It could just be that lockdowns caused real harm to the minds of the young, especially young men, and no one has bothered to look into it.One year after Butler, I know I made the right choice when I voted for Trump. I'll be forever grateful to him for rescuing this country and its children from the clutches of fanaticism. And you can't watch as many rallies as I have and come away not liking the guy. Those still awash in rage and delusion might find, decades from now, that they missed out on one of the most spectacular moments in American history when this country elected one of its brightest lights. // This is a public episode. How America's Godless Made a Thunder God Out of a Mortal ClownI saw someone on Reddit shrug: “The thing is, he's actually responsible for stuff. He's the president.”And that's it, isn't it? In a country that once thought presidents were just men in suits, we've built one who rains bunker-buster thunderbolts like Zeus. Not by accident — by hunger. By a god-shaped hole in a nation that told itself it didn't need a god at all.It started as a joke. A clown descends the golden escalator — half Golem, half carnival barker — forged out of the flyover states' raw clay. A tulpa of every grievance that polite America forgot about: open borders, closed factories, global wars fought by kids from nowhere towns. His people breathed him into being like villagers summon a protector. Not a god — just a hammer. But the other tribe, the self-anointed rationalists, the coastal priests of data and democracy, never understood that you don't banish monsters by screaming at them. You feed them. Every headline, every effigy, every “literally Hitler” chant was fuel for the fire. The villagers marked their lintels and said, “At least he's ours.” The priesthood went blind with eclipse fear. A scapegoat is a trickster until he grows too big to burn. Now it's July 2025. He's the 47th president — swing states by landslide, electoral and popular votes. He walks the West Wing like a man wronged, spending four years in exile plotting every bunker plan, every drone fleet sortie, every wall and raid and black budget operation. He doesn't ask permission — he asks forgiveness later. Or never. He knows the fear in your bones, the one that says, “What if he really can smite me from 8,000 miles away?” And you're not wrong. With the Patriot Act still humming, with post-9/11 tools still sharp, the Zeus we built can flick his wrist and the century trembles. It's not just tulpa magic. It's not just a paper god. This is a real empire with 800 bases, an 800-billion-dollar defense spigot, a thousand little Caesars running cover. And the “Never Trumpers” keep screaming, “He's poopy pants! He's senile!” while he stands there naked and radiant, thunderbolt in hand, saying, “You know exactly who I am.”Every mural, every “Never Forget” wall, every daily exorcism is supposed to shrink him back to mortal size. But old magic knows: burning an effigy keeps the flame alive. The villagers built a quarterback, a Champion — not a savior. They know he's a clown. But they also know the crops grow behind the golem's wall. And the other side? They keep howling that the sky god wants your firstborn. Maybe they're right. Or maybe they're feeding him with every scream. When the plague hits or the flood comes, they point up at Olympus: “Trump did this. Trump killed them. Trump broke the world.” And so the trickster tulpa — the clown golem — ascends the storm clouds, pulling the old sun god's mask over that famous hair. Zeus the Trump. Smiter of cities, ruler of the surveillance state, king of the village circus.Don't misunderstand. He won't live forever. Champions break. Golems crumble. But the villagers know how to bury their dead. The priesthood does not. They'll keep the ritual alive long after he's dust, waiting for the next eclipse.Amen.

No matter how some people try to deny it, we humans are very tribal. And for the most part, that can be a good thing if we will forego any sense of tribal superiority. So if one is excommunicated from a tribe the mental and spiritual toll can be significant. In her book ‘Ghosted' Nancy French describes her upbringing in a Fundamentalist Christian church and early alliance with conservative Republican politics. For years she made her living as a ghost writer for several prominent right-wing politicians. But when she and her husband declared themselves to be Never Trumpers, doors closed, calls were ignored and friends abandoned them. In this episode we speak with Nancy about the trauma, betrayal and heartbreak of maintaining high principles in the face of such challenges.

Episode 878 of The Professional Left Podcast examines how the Republican party built a "democracy-destroying machine" over 50 years, and why attempts by Never Trumpers to reform it from within consistently fail. The hosts analyze a recent Bari Weiss column as a case study of how conservative critics must attack Democrats and marginalized groups to establish credibility with the MAGA base. They discuss recent developments including Trump's attacks on Zelenskyy, Nikki Haley's "evolving" (revolving) stance on Trump, and Kash Patel as FBI director. The episode includes commentary on Senate #FAIL, astronauts pushing back against Elon Musk's claims, and concludes with a brand new "Thursdays with Royko". Trump might get his cabinet after all.It was never going to be easy, many of them pulled from the Deep MAGA reserves doomed to offend the old guard who are developing carpel tunnel holding their nose through Trump's second administration. Others are lifelong Democrats who helped over the finish line but still inspire a stink eye from lifelong Republicans. Some confirmations were easy—Elise Stefanik sailed through, and Marco Rubio was unanimous. Others more controversial, like Pete Hegseth, who barely squeaked by. But throughout it all, two nominees had the lowest odds of making it through, Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. That's because neither of them are Republicans, and in a Senate where the GOP holds a 53-47 edge, blocking a nomination means peeling off Republican votes, not relying on Democratic opposition. The Democrats could stomp their feet all they wanted—it didn't matter. But on this Tuesday, both have made it out of committee, thanks to key endorsements from influential figures within the GOP they both look to be on a narrow but assured path to the executive branch where they will serve at the pleasure of the president.Politics Politics Politics is free twice a week. Does it LOOK like news is only breaking twice a week? C'mon dude, get the two bonus episodes.Tulsi GabbardHer confirmation was boosted by Susan Collins, a senator unafraid to buck the Trump administration. Representing Maine—a state that's far from a deep-red stronghold—Collins' support was critical. It was enough to push Gabbard through committee on strict party lines. Beyond Collins, outreach from newly installed CIA Director John Radcliffe and Senator J.D. Vance helped smooth over concerns that arose during her confirmation hearing. The main sticking point? Her stance on Edward Snowden. Gabbard made it clear that she viewed Snowden as a criminal and would not recommend a pardon, but she stopped short of calling him a traitor. This led to a bizarre debate over whether she was sufficiently condemning Snowden, as some seemed to argue that unless she said the magic “traitor” word she was unqualified. Gabbard's confirmation has brought together one of the strangest coalitions I've seen on the right—far-right Republicans like Tom Cotton, staunch Never Trumpers like Meghan McCain, and figures like TuringPoint's Charlie Kirk. McCain even appeared on Kirk's radio show Monday to announce they'd team up to primary anyone who voted against Gabbard. That looks like it might not be necessary.RFK Jr. Unlike Gabbard, his confirmation hearing was messier. While Gabbard kept her composure, RFK Jr. approached it like a Kennedy: arrogantly. Democrats took their best shot, mostly by hammering him on vaccines, though their efforts were, frankly, ineffective. They made a lot of noise but didn't seem genuinely committed to blocking him. In the end, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, a Republican who voted to impeach Trump, decided he was comfortable enough with RFK Jr. to push him through committee. With that, Trump's cabinet is nearly complete. There's one more potential hurdle: a labor secretary nominee who previously supported the PRO Act and has drawn skepticism from Republicans. But compared to Tulsi and RFK, this is a much lower-profile battle. At the end of the day, this confirmation process has been tougher than what Trump faced in his first term, but his team has handled it deftly. The Democrats? They put up almost no real defense. Was that on purpose? I don't know. I suspect they don't either.Chapters00:00 Intro02:50 Tulsi and RFK safe?12:42 USAID21:04 Waffle House Raises Egg Prices25:46 Senate Takes Charge on Reconciliation Bills32:38 Chris Cillizza This is a public episode. [SEGMENT 2-1] From Ruin to Renewal 1 Where are the Trump naysayers? I know many still exist, though most have been silenced. This includes RINOs who aided Democrats in plotting the demise of Trump and MAGA. I spoke of the NeverTrumpers recently. They now want back on the wagon, as they continue to plot against President Trump and his agenda. Still, many of them have been silenced, as they watch the difference between competence and failure. Look at what the Left have learned about Biden over the past year. And what of all the reveals to come? How could you possibly have supported this idiot and his agenda. While many on the Left continue with their muscle-memory to oppose Trump, they now catch themselves, course-correct, and rethink their knee-jerk lunacy. Take for example all the outspoken entertainers and Hollyweirdos. For the most part, they have kept a sock in their pie holes as it relates to Trump. It's difficult to criticize the man when you have Biden to whom you can compare him. Also, we know that most of these Tinseltown twits virtual-signal publicly while privately supporting Trump's policies. Even they look at the hard-core idiots like DeNiro and Stephen King as too far gone. Many of these pansy-asses exist, awaiting the moment they can proclaim that they never supported Biden, Kamala, or the Democrats. Trump will be the new fashion for 2025, as the closet-MAGA fakes simmer. As soon as Trump does something “Trumpian”, they will pretend they've been down with Trump since circa 2016. “We had his back!” And Trump will have many opportunities. He could end Biden's proxy war with Russia. He's already making moves on the Chinese with trade and the Panama Canal. And in the words of The Carpenters, “We've Only Just Begun”. I saw a stat that read: From 2021-24, approximately 6% of new jobs added by S&P 100 companies went to white males [SEGMENT 2-2] From Ruin to Renewal 2 What's your plan to make your life better next year? Let's begin there, because without that you can't help others. If you haven't thought about it, and put it on paper with ACTION ITEMS, please do so. Help yourself FIRST. Then do that thing that is required for real happiness: help others. Make a plan for that. It takes a LOT less than you think. A phone call, a note in the mail, and occasionally financial help. But don't rely on the money aspect first. It's usually just letting people you love know that you're thinking about them. You're all special. But in 2025 I challenge you to be better. Not because we are measuring, because the measurement is in how YOU feel. I'm not judging. But I know God has given you much. Share it. In a time of seismic shifts and reckonings, Americans stand at the precipice of profound change. Looking back at what we leave behind, we see a trail of political deceit, cultural absurdity, and institutional failures that have scarred the nation's history. But alongside this retrospective, there are memories we refuse to let fade—hard lessons and pivotal moments that underscore the resilience of truth. And on the horizon, a brighter future glimmers, with opportunities to rebuild on the foundation of accountability and common sense. Leaving the Past in the Dust [SEGMENT 2-3] From Ruin to Renewal 3 Barack Obama's legacy is finally unraveling. Once hailed as a transformative figure, his impact now reveals cracks in the facade. From economic stagnation to divisive rhetoric, Obama's tenure ultimately set the stage for his handpicked successor, Joe Biden, who amplified the damage. Biden's presidency—a product of the political maneuvering orchestrated by Obama—exemplifies the erosion of American leadership. Together, they'll be remembered as the "Dynamic Duo Dingbats," emblematic of what went wrong. The Clintons, too, have been relegated to history's dustbin. Their attempt to align their name with families like the Rockefellers or the Kennedys faltered under the weight of corruption and scandal. Hillary's loss to Trump was the final nail in the coffin for Clintonism, a political dynasty undone by its hubris. Gone, too, is the outdated notion that Trump can't lead Republicans to victory. The old-guard Republicanism—rooted in compromise and tepid policy—has been supplanted by a new era of bold, unapologetic conservatism. MAGA has meaning, and unlike the Tea Party movement, MAGA has staying power. Americans have also turned their backs on the once-trustworthy media, preferring MAGA influencers for their truth. Years of lies and selective reporting have shattered any credibility these institutions once held. Few people believe the NY Times, WaPo, CNN, and the like. The numbers prove it and Van Jones said it recently [X] SB – Van Jones on media "Belief in the science," as weaponized by Leftists, has similarly crumbled. From gender ideology to the mishandling of COVID-19, the so-called experts—whether in the FDA, NIH, or DOJ—have proven untrustworthy. Their failures are etched into the collective memory of a populace betrayed by those they were told to trust. Likewise, Leftist platitudes such as "saving democracy" and "for the greater good" have lost all meaning, exposed as cynical tools to silence dissent. Perhaps most importantly, the tide is turning against the Left's normalization of the sexualization of children and the creeping acceptance of pedophilia. Criminals in government and culture will find their time is up as the public demands accountability. Lessons We Must Remember Julian Assange's plight stands as a stark reminder of what happens to those who challenge the status quo. His detention stifled stories that could have unveiled further corruption, particularly surrounding the Biden family. Similarly, the Left's denial of Biden's incompetence and corruption remains a damning testament to media complicity. How is it that the Bidens managed to dodge scrutiny while seemingly laundering half of Beijing's treasury? The Biden crime family's antics could fill a Netflix series—and probably should. As you consider what Assange might have accomplished if not tethered to the Ecuadorian embassy, remember all that our media didn't do. Meanwhile, the DOJ's relentless targeting of Trump, aided by state-level cronies in New York and Georgia, underscores the weaponization of the justice system. Their lawfare campaign has been nothing short of historic—an epic quest to find something, anything, to pin on Trump. Yet every grand charge against him has collapsed like a Jenga tower at a kid's birthday party. It's almost comical to watch prosecutors argue, “This time, we've got him!” only for Trump to moonwalk out of the courtroom. And then there's Trump himself, the ultimate troll. Who else could turn working at McDonald's into a political flex? While Leftists mocked him flipping burgers, Trump spun it as a symbol of his connection to the average American. Let's not forget his sanitation stint—cleaning up the political trash Leftists left behind—a metaphor so on point it deserves an Emmy. Every one of Trump's antics serves a purpose: to troll, to entertain, and most importantly, to expose the absurdity of his detractors. Speaking of absurdity, remember when Ketanji Brown Jackson couldn't define a woman during her confirmation hearings? That moment alone should be preserved in the Smithsonian as a cultural artifact of wokeism's peak. Meanwhile, Biden's record-setting pardons—37 criminals off death row and counting—have set a new standard for tone-deaf governance. By the time he's done, Biden's pardon list might include the guy who stole your lunch at work. And let's not forget Hollywood's Diddy scandal and the still-unreleased Epstein list. These dark secrets promise to unravel networks of power and corruption, implicating everyone from studio execs to politicians. Every day that list stays hidden is another day the internet's conspiracy theorists sharpen their memes. [SEGMENT 2-4] From Ruin to Renewal 4 Jimmy Carter died over the weekend. I would never celebrate a person's death, but I have to say I'm not unhappy that he's gone. Democrats milked that man for decades, and he was one of the worst presidents in history. Education Department was started by him. The Department of Energy. Who can forget the hostage crisis, and how he allowed Muslim fundamentalists to start terrorizing the world? I know he built a few poor people some houses, but it doesn't undo all the damage he did as president. Ep 24-506 Kevin discusses that every day is validation, now that Team Trump with the support of MAGA is draining the swamp again. If you think you saw Leftism lose its mind during the era of Biden, wait until these truths get revealed in 2025.[SEGMENT 2-1] Validation coming 1 What will we have validated in 2025? Maybe I should save this for tomorrow's show? We know that Trump won the 2020 election. Mail-in ballot fraud study finds…Trump “almost certainly” won in 2020 But we should know definitively in 2025. There is a joke meme where Pelosi admits they cheated Trump, and thus declares him ineligible for 2024. On that subject, there is a bloc of Democrats who want to prevent Trump from taking office. Can you imagine the crapstorm that would occur if they tried that? Things are so good for Trump, that Democrats can't get any terror groups like BLM or Antifa to go against Trump. You know you screwed up when BLM won't answer the call to protest. Maybe it's because the Democrats can't afford to pay them? They're still settling up that Kamala debt. Did you get some Kamala Bucks? Beyonce did, and speaking of her, did you see that half-time show on Christmas? One of the worse I've seen. She's trying to deflect from that Diddy story. Her husband is in the middle of all that, and she was aware. [SEGMENT 2-2] Validation coming 2 [X] SB – Don Lemon gets owned Who is the real president elect? We don't trust any of these. But he also wants his cake and to eat it too. While he admits to missing mark, he falls short of admitting the truth: the NeverTrumper are made up of elitists who are angry at completely missing the mark on Trump. He began his pseudo mea culpa with his column title: “Done With Never Trump”. "It's been more than nine years since I first denounced Donald Trump as a ‘loudmouth vulgarian appealing to quieter vulgarians.' I've called myself a Never Trump conservative ever since, even when I agreed with his policies from time to time. I also opposed him throughout his run this year." Even in retrospect, Stephens ignores Trump's success. And not just for his first term, but in battling back against the most corrupt government Americans have ever seen. He goes on with his wishy-washy admittance of being wrong, but not exactly: "Could his second term be as bad as his most fervent critics fear? Yes. Is it time to drop the heavy moralizing and incessant doomsaying that typified so much of the Never Trump movement — and that rendered it politically impotent and frequently obtuse? Yes, please" Stephens then explains what he learned about Trump and his followers, alluded that both “degraded” the conservative brand, and almost wholly ignoring the reasons we fell into embrace: "It wasn't that we'd forgotten Clinton's scandals or were ignorant of the allegations about the Bidens. It's that we thought Trump degraded the values that conservatives were supposed to stand for. We also thought that Trump represented a form of illiberalism that was antithetical to our ‘free people, free markets, free world' brand of conservatism and that was bound to take the Republican Party down a dark road," Stephens wrote. Just when you think he might understand, he adds: "In this we weren't wrong: There's plenty to dislike and fear about Trump from a traditionally conservative standpoint. But Never Trumpers also overstated our case and, in doing so, defeated our purpose." Yes Stephen, you were wrong. Trump didn't change. And his style led to the most unexpected defeat of Leftism since the first time he defeated Leftism. Stephen continues explaining other areas where the virtue-signaling Conservative elites blew it. For example, he bought into the idea that Trump "might stumble into World War III" as president. A man who clearly stated for those paying attention that he would fight wars with the America economy. Stephen admitted that the Hillary Clinton Russian collusion allegations "were a smear", something even the most casual observer should have recognized. Next, he conceded that Trump acted "much tougher" on the Kremlin than the Obama and Biden administrations. The fact is that Trump kept Putin in check in a variety of clever way that the Ivy League pompous asses missed. Still, the biggest failing of the NeverTrumpers came with their prediction that Trump would not be able to bring wins to the Republican Party: "We predicted that Trump's rhetoric would wreck the Republican Party's chances to win over the constituencies the party had identified, after 2012, as key to its future. But we missed that his working-class appeal would also reach working-class minorities — like the 48 percent of Latino male voters who cast their ballots for him last month," Stephens told readers. "And we were alarmed by Trump's protectionism and big-spending ways. But the economy mostly thrived under him, at least until the pandemic." How many misses is this at this point. It's safe to say that NeverTrumpers missed on everything. In fact, Stephens also admitted that he and other "elites" prioritized the issue of "democracy", just like the Leftists who now lie on the battlefield in the wake of the 2024 election. What Stephens found out is that Americans care about their money and fairness. They witnessed a blatant dual-system of justice, and an equally disgusting open border policy that proved Democrats and the NeverTrump elitists were detached from Average Jane and Joe. "Why did Trump — so often deprecated by his critics as a fortunate fool — understand this so well while we fecklessly carried on about the soul of the nation?" Stephens asked himself. What they missed is how much Trump cared about the soul of the nation. And from his next comment, you can see that Stephens still doesn't get it. "What else did we not sufficiently appreciate? That, as much as Trump might lie, Americans also felt lied to by the left — particularly when it came to the White House-cover-up of Biden's physical and mental decline. That, as bigoted as elements of the MAGA world can be, there is plenty of bigotry to go around — not least in the torrent of Israel-bashing and antisemitism that emerged from the cultural left after Oct. 7. That, as much as we fear Trump could wreck some of our institutions, whether it's higher education or the F.B.I., many of those institutions are already broken and may need to be reconceived or replaced." Until he admits that Trump didn't lie, he's just a RINO in hibernation. Democrats lied about the 2020 election, then created multiple lies about J6. These are the two biggest lies of the Left that Democrats and NeverTrumper based almost the entirety of their disdain for Trump. Is there hope for Stephens and other NeverTrumpers. Of course. Trump has won over many critics. And if the RINO establishment can't come over to the good side of the island after this win, they are not redeemable. Stephens vows to give Trump a shot. "Let's enter the new year Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

John is joined by Pete Wehner—veteran of the Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 administrations turned eloquent Never Trumper—to discuss the once and future president's transformation of the GOP, his perplexing appeal to the Christian Right, and more. Wehner explains why the best summation of Trump's agenda comes from Michel Caine as Alfred in The Dark Knight (“Some men just want to watch the world burn”); Pete Hegseth's redemption narrative and invocations of his Lord and savior ring so hollow; and so many Evangelicals are so devoted to Trump in spite of his lack of godly virtues. Wehner and John also harken back to the magical duet of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car by Chapman and Luke Combs at this year's Grammy's, and riff on why the emotional outpouring it triggered was a hopeful sign for our politics and culture. Today on the Matt Walsh Show, a prominent Never Trumper made this case this week for why conservatives should vote for Kamala Harris. But voting for Kamala Harris, if you call yourself a conservative, is incoherent and incredibly foolish at the very best. Also, the Left accuses JD Vance of hypocrisy after an alleged photo of Vance wearing drag at a Halloween party in college surfaces. I'll explain why they're undermining their own position by making that argument. And a primitive tribe on an island in the Indian Ocean viciously murders any intruders who venture close to their borders. What do they have to teach us about immigration policy? More than you might think. Today, we sit down with Allie's dad, Ron Simmons, to discuss former President Donald Trump's big Vice Presidential announcement. Will Ohio Senator J.D. Vance give Trump the push he needs to win the election? What does this ticket mean for the pro-life agenda, and should we be worried? We also explore how a former Never-Trumper could become the second-highest leader in the country. Monday was day one of the Republican National Convention and it was a doozy, we break down the speeches and a highly contentious prayer by Harmeet Dillon. Additionally, we examine the Secret Service's failures at the Trump rally on Saturday—where were the agents supposed to be, and how could they have made such a colossal mistake?
