Jon Tyson is back for the third time! In this episode, he uncovers the seven lies that hold men back from becoming fully alive. You'll discover the strategies Satan uses to keep you distracted and passive, and you'll be inspired to embrace your current season and ask curious questions for the sake of others. Key Takeaways Satan wants us dumb, entertained, oversatiated, and unmotivated. You must fight against despair, loneliness, shame, lust, ambition, futility, and apathy. If you ask curious questions about the needs around you, you never know what you'll get swept into. What things do you need to harvest and enjoy right now before they rot and are gone? Jon Tyson Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Jon Tyson is a pastor and author based in New York City. He is the author of "Fighting Shadows" and the bestselling books "The Intentional Father" and "Beautiful Resistance." Jon has been married to Christy for twenty-five years and has two adult children. Key Quotes 10:40 - "I always tell people, my vision is intentionality, it's not perfection. No one is perfect. In fact, the perfect fathers are often the ones that damaged their kids through such high expectations. It's just do your best, live in love, be honest with your struggles and get help. Rely on the community of men to help raise your kids. Ancient societies were not primarily just father-son societies. They were the community of men playing a vital role. It was the tribe that helped formed men, not just this psychotic pressure on an individual father." 19:23 - "I know everybody tells you this, be careful when you kill time, it has no resurrection. You can waste time. You can kill time. Waste time. Use time. Invest time. Redeem time. Or leverage time. And a lot of God, that's Ephesians 5, make the most of the time. That's not the word kross is the word kairos, which means you were in a season right now, that must be leveraged that you will never get again. It's not the same in every season. So I'm not advocating a kind of guilt where every, like, if every spare moment should be in prayer. That's, that's death. That's the law. I'm advocating, I'm advocating an awareness of your season. The things that need to be harvested now or they rot. Or seed now, or you missed the window to sow. Or enjoyed now or it's gone. How do you really figure what that is in that season and leverage it? Make the most because the days are evil. So yeah, it's about really trying to leverage the season more than anything else. First you got to know what it is, but when you know what it is going to be aware and go after it." If you are a parent, this episode is a MUST LISTEN.In the United States, rates of suicide are on the rise and more than 20% of all teens have seriously considered suicide. That means in a room of 100 teens, 20 of them have been dangerously close to taking their own life. Today, Dr. Dole will tell us that it's important to consider demographics when we talk about statistics and she shares some staggering ones regarding minority populations, but suicide is on the rise in all groups.According to the CDC 30% of all teenage girls have seriously considered suicide (13% make an attempt). More than fifty percent of adolescents with ADHD have suicidal thoughts. The statistics are staggering. Over the last few years, because I have teens…and likely because my clientele has more teens, friends, and clients are coming to me, usually unable to breathe, and telling me their kids have told them they have suicidal thoughts or are actively suicidal. Unfortunately, the statistics and my experience tell me this is an eventuality, we as parents, need to be prepared for.Show LInks:- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline- One Sec: Distracting apps made less appealing - Online Workshops with Mika- Sign up for Mika's Newsletter- Connect with Mika on IG- Disclaimer: www.mikaross.com/disclaimer

In this episode, Cath Hakanson joins me to talk about a very important topic in today's parenting age: how to talk to your kids about sex. Storytelling is a powerful component of brand visibility. Telling your story is an opportunity to connect more deeply with others–our people, our audience, our colleagues, our clients–and begin to humanize our brand. But how do we begin to tell our story? How do we navigate doing that in a way that doesn't change who we are and builds deep connections? Hillary Rea joins India for a discussion about storytelling, trust, and taking up space. Several years ago, when I was a member of a networking group local to Springfield MO, I had met some amazing people doing some pretty cool things. And today's guest is no exception. She's pretty amazing! Dayna Ault is a well-established writer, editor, and author. Her articles appear in many parenting, religious and literary journals, newsletters, and "best of" compilations, all penned while parenting her eight children. Her children's book, Benjamin's Coin Purse, was published by Rod & Staff Publishers in 2001. Several children later, she began a non-profit organization to support her magazine, the Missouri Autism Report. She wrote, edited, and published the magazine, supported by autism organizations Missouri-wide, for seven years. Now, with an empty nest looming, she has launched herself into, writing Christian books with historical and spiritual value, for all ages. Dayna's desire is to leave a legacy, which points, unabashedly, to Christ. Dayna serves as a City Alderwoman and spends every spare moment writing and building her platform for her upcoming books. Dayna is a Christian writer, who resides in a small town in Missouri, with her husband, youngest son, and a very needy American Eskimo. Today, you'll hear Dayna's inspiring story of always continuing her dream of writing through the challenges of her life. Out of necessity of suddenly being a single mother, she used her writing talents to grow a little newsletter into a successful magazine. Now, at a different season of her life, she's going all-in for her true passion of being a full-time published author.
