I have my good friend (and repeat guest) Ben Albert on the show today and we are all over the map discussing the challenges and frustrations of marketing and lead generation. We explore different approaches to reaching out to potential clients, including the use of content creation, cold outreach, and personal connections. We also compare the strategies of successful individuals in different industries, such as Ryan Serhant and Alex Hormozi. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding one's target audience and tailoring marketing efforts to their preferences and needs. You're gonna love it!TakeawaysThe traditional methods of marketing and lead generation, such as automated DMs and generic content, are not effective and can harm your brand. The key to successful marketing is understanding your target audience and creating valuable content that resonates with them.Building personal connections and engaging in meaningful conversations with potential clients can lead to more successful outcomes.Different industries and business models may require different marketing strategies, so it's important to find what works best for your specific situation. Follow the footsteps of successful people and learn from their strategies and processes.Focus on authenticity and value creation rather than relying on false income expectations.Invest in relationships and find a balance between business success and personal life.Take a long-term perspective and prioritize sustainable growth.Create exceptional value to attract clients and build a strong reputation.Ben's the talented host of a host of podcasts (yes, that was a great pun) on the Real Business Connections network. You understand that in sales, in general, the best way to get a sale is from a referral. Like that's kind of simple, common sense. And I don't even like to call them referrals. I like nominations or recommendations. And at the end of the day, when you're, um, creating content and sharing influence with brilliant people, it leads to reputation gain. It leads to thought leadership, which leads to people talking about you and being impressed with you because you're adding value to their lives. What do you think that leads to? That leads to recommendations, nominations, and referrals. It's simple." – BEN."AI and tech are taking over the world in one way. But at the core, humans purchase solutions from other humans. We're fulfilling products and services for humans, by humans, to help humans. All the tech is just facilitating that process. Really, marketing, adding value, and then making the sales process so simple for you or your team will never go away. The better you are at building those human-to-human connections, and that can be in person, but it can be through social selling. It can be through content marketing or podcasting. The better you are at building those human-to-human connections, the better art you are going to be in business. And the AI can't replace you because there's only one you." – BEN."There's so much going on in video at the core. People say, "I don't have all the lights and the setup." But if you have a phone that can take videos, you can share them. And I think the biggest reason it's hot is that it's such a trust builder. It shows your face, expressions, style, and personality. So, when someone gets on a call with you when someone does meet you, there's already a rapport built because they've watched you, know you, and listened to you. So I think the reason video is so popular is one, it's entertaining, but two, in a sales and marketing context, it's the best way to build easy trust because you're unveiling the person behind the profile, behind the phone. You're showing an extra part of yourself." – BEN. Connect with Ben Albert:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/realbenalbert/Balbert Marketing LLC:https://balbertmarketing.com/Real Business Connections: https://realbusinessconnections.com/Try Our Proven, 3-Step System, Guaranteeing Accountability and Transparency that Drives RESULTS by clicking on this link: https://oneofakindsales.com/call-center-in-a-box/  Connect with Nancy Calabrese: Twitter:https://twitter.com/oneofakindsalesFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/One-Of-A-Kind-Sales-304978633264832/Website:https://oneofakindsales.comPhone: 908-879-2911 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncalabrese/Email: leads@oneofakindsales.com

He is a collaborator, connector and visionary and he's due to speak on stage alongside Richard Branson in Las Vegas, very soon! When Covid hit in March 2020 Ben was a sales executive bobbing along quite nicely in his hometown of Rochester, New York. Within a month he was unemployed and in his own words ‘lost'. He was in a dark place. Did he say did he stay there and wallow in self-pity? Hell, no! • He launched a network of podcasts including Real Business Connections (on a mission to actually move the needle on 1 million lives, one conversation at a time!) Have you ever walked into a room and felt out of place, only later to realize that it was the perfect platform to connect, grow, and evolve? That's how my guest, Ben Albert, host of Real Business Connections, felt when he started his podcasting journey in a guest bedroom. Today, Ben and I take you on a journey across our shared pasts in New York, our struggles with bullying, and how all these experiences shaped who we are today. In the world of podcasting, it's a constant battle against uncertainty, but it's also an open door to unexpected opportunities. Ben and I grapple with this reality, relating it to the harsh realities athletes face when they realize they won't always be the best. But podcasting isn't just a race to the top; it's about creating a successful platform that allows people to share their stories and experiences. It's about being a good listener, asking the right questions, learning and teaching from each other, and evolving together with our listeners. The power of vulnerability and the influence of our past experiences are themes that echo throughout our conversation. Ben and I reflect on our individual journeys, discussing the importance of networking, mentorship, and sharing our personal stories. As we look back on our childhood experiences, we understand how they've shaped our lives and our podcasting careers. Tune in for a heart-to-heart talk about the struggles and triumphs that have defined our journeys, and how these experiences can inspire you on your journey to success.Episode SponsorFocusrite – http://pcjk.es/vocasterFullCast – https://fullcast.co/Key Takeaways0:00:00 - Podcasting, Backgrounds, and Overcoming Bullying 0:07:09 - Impact of Podcasting and Passion Pursuit 0:18:42 - Creating a Successful Business Podcast 0:24:53 - The Importance of Sharing Our Journey 0:27:51 - Impact of Childhood Experiences on Success 0:32:15 - The Power of Vulnerability and Mentorship 0:39:30 - Podcasting and Personal Growth 0:46:48 - Marketing and Personal Story ConversationTweetable Quotes"In the world of podcasting, like the world of sports, it's a constant battle against uncertainty, but it's also an open door to unexpected opportunities.""Podcasting isn't just a race to the top; it's about creating a successful platform that allows people to share their stories and experiences." The difference between a dream and a goal is that goals have tangible steps.” ~ [08:43] ~ “If you have not done the random word exercise a hundred times, the steps don't matter; you get points on how many times you do the exercise, not on how well you do it.” ~ [09:52] ~ “Fear of communication… the anxiety of communication... can never be completely removed. It's kind of if you are in a marriage and expecting every day to be a great day; that is a wrong expectation.” ~ [15:36] “Think of your fear or anxiety like a boxing match, where one side of the ring is fear or any stressors, and the other side of the ring is the message and why it's important for you to share. The goal is not for the fear to leave the ring, but to make sure when the two meet in the middle, and the bell rings, the message gets the knockout punch.” ~ [16:48] ~ “The best speakers on the planet use three tones at the same time so that they can go high, low, and regular at any time, don't stay at the same tone when doing public speaking.” ~ [31:25] ~ “What's great about practicing communication is that the worst thing that can happen is that you get better.” ~ [40:04] ~ “Pausing is the most important power technique in communication; it allows us to emphasize the key parts of our message; you want to pause at the parts of your speech where you feel your audience should pay attention to.” ~ [47:27] ~ “The reason you need a smile in your speech is that the presentation isn't about you and what you think. The presentation is about the results and outcome you are delivering for the client.” ~ [52:15] --- FULL SHOW NOTES AND LINKS AT: https://realbusinessconnections.com/episode/brendenkumarasamy/ Real Business Connections is made possible by www.balbertmarketing.com

Ben Albert is the founder and CEO of Balbert marketing and the founder, host and producer of the Real Business Connections podcast. When Covid hit in March 2020 Ben was a sales executive bobbing along quite nicely in his hometown of Rochester, New York. Within a month he was unemployed and in his own words ‘lost'.   He was in a dark place, taking comfort in a bottle of whiskey. Did he say did he stay there and wallow in self-pity? Hell, no! He re-launched the Rochester Groovecast podcast. He started the Everything Balbert blog. He taught a podcast in class at Rochester prep high school and became a marketing consultant. He launched Rochester Business Connections. And there's more ... Over the last 2 years, he has been fortunate enough to work professionally with over 40 businesses, built multiple B2B partnerships and helped numerous brands. He's spoken on countless podcasts and networked with new friends that he hopes to support for the rest of his life. Wow! See what happens when you put the bottle down and put your mind to something. As you would imagine, our conversation is jam-packed and full of advice and wise words. From stacking your skills to amplifying the underdog to leaning into vulnerability and what to do if you're too short to play basketball. So you sign into your LinkedIn account – and viola! – your inbox gets flooded with all these annoying automated and unwanted spam messages. But then you also do the same thing with your business and spam everyone. It's a vicious cycle! (And you're wondering why no one has ever gotten back to you.) In today's conversation, Erik Cabral chats with Ben Albert, owner of Balbert Marketing and curator of the Real Business Connections Network, about connecting and building relationships – in strategic ways. Fun fact: Ben and Erik actually met on LinkedIn. They were outside of each other's circle. But how did the magic happen? Let's find out! Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: The power of personalizing your messages The concept of more equals more Ben's eureka moment Living in alignment with your values Using the LinkedIn platform to build your business Podcast launch and guesting strategies How to create valuable content Embracing the F word and holding yourself accountable Episode Highlights: Human-to-Human Experience vs. Transactional Automated Experience There's nothing wrong with automating a lot of processes. But we get so much automation going on right now that we lose a bit of our humanity. That being said, this sets an opportunity for those people who are willing to take the time to craft a unique, more personal message because they truly want to connect. Therefore, treat relationships like a human-to-human experience, and not as a transactional automated experience. The Concept of More Equals More The concept of more equals more does make sense in certain areas. However, it doesn't work if It doesn't convert. The more you do cold calls or cold emails, the more you're taking humanity out of it. It's then much better to connect with fewer people with whom you know you're going to get real conversations. Tips for Building Relationships and Creating Connections Whether you're launching a podcast, a course, or whatever it is you offer, reach out to people you're similar with. Edify them, make them feel really good about themselves, and bring them on board as a partner. Don't ask for anything that's going to cost them money. If anything, you're asking for their time. And so, over-deliver in the time spent and the product you create for them and their audience. In terms of becoming a podcast guest, be sure that before you reach out to the host, you've already done your research. Listen to an episode and pull out at least three takeaways you got from it. That way, you're letting the host know that you listened to them, you care about them, and you appreciate them. Then ask for a recommendation and listen to it. Then tell them you'd love to offer to be on their show if they think you're a good fit. How to Create Valuable Content Find your sweet spot and what's best for you. For instance, pull out a quote from the podcast and turn it into an image with a synopsis and a link for the long-form conversation. Others create reels. Use that image to attract people into the long form. Many times, too, the image itself creates the aha moment for the people reading it. Our Authenticity Depends on Our Values, Not Our Comfort Zones Throughout our lives we learn many lessons about ourselves and others, how we move on and grow from these lessons is how we become better versions of ourselves even if at the time it seems painful. By sharing what we've learned and our interests in a constructive and compassionate way, without sounding condescending or judgmental we can achieve our best selves.   In this episode Sarah Elkins and Ben Albert talk about the importance of life lessons and sharing our interests with others in a way that doesn't sound conceited, as well as balancing our work and life in a healthy way, and through doing so learn how to reflect on ourselves in order to benefit others and ourselves by being empathetic and vulnerable. Highlights Being conscious of how you speak and rewording things that can seem negative. Being proud of being your whole self There is continuity in steps that feel disconnected Balance is essential for a healthy life Quotes “To me it doesn't matter who gets the trophy, so long as the solution is found.” - Ben Albert “ “Should” doesn't demonstrate care, it demonstrates judgment.” Sarah Elkins About Ben Albert   Ben is the owner of Balbert Marketing LLC. He is also the curator of The “Real Business Connections Network,” where he hosts 5 podcasts, “Rochester Business Connections,” “Learn Speak Teach,” “Ben's Bites,” “Five Minute Fridays,” and “Real Hits.” Once an underdog, now a successful entrepreneur, Ben is passionate about helping other underdogs achieve their dreams. When Covid hit, Ben was furloughed from work. He found himself down and out, staring at an empty handle of Jim Bean Whiskey. He was unemployed, depressed, and felt unworthy. Hesitantly, he opened his Macbook and started reaching out to strangers on Linkedin. This spearheaded his entrepreneurial journey.  The rest is history.  Now Ben hosts a network of 5 podcasts called “Real Business Connections,” runs a massively successful marketing firm, Balbert Marketing, and has replaced his established sales income in just over a year. Ben found his way. Once an underdog, now a successful entrepreneur, Ben is passionate about helping other underdogs find their way and achieve their dreams. Ben is on a mission to move the needle on one million careers, one conversation at a time.   You can contact Ben via his Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and at Balbert Marketing! Or schedule a consultation with him Here! You can also listen to his podcast Real Business Connections on Apple or Spotify! About Sarah Elkins "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana.
