Jessica Harris is the owner of Four Sisters Childcare in Linden, Utah — a thriving center named after her four daughters. Alongside her husband, she's built a program that's now serving 91 full-time equivalent students with a capacity of 86 and a waitlist. But her real work goes beyond enrollment. In this episode, Jessica shares her journey from running a home daycare to leading a full-blown center, all while growing as a leader, navigating fear, and learning how to truly step into her power. She opens up about the deep personal habits that ground her, the way she teaches resilience to her staff, and how she learned to treat herself like the CEO of her own life with systems, policies, and boundaries. She talks with Kris about how she rebuilt from burnout, found peace in structure, and created a culture where small daily wins add up to big growth. Key Takeaways: [2:58] Kris is heading to Bali to work on her leadership, mindset, and spiritual growth. [7:02] Jessica and her husband run Four Sisters Childcare, named after their four daughters. The center started as an in-home program and now serves 91 FTE students with a waitlist. [8:28] A push from Kris at a conference inspired Jessica to expand into a center — an idea that changed everything. [11:42] Jessica was never someone who dreamed big, but learning to shift her mindset has helped her move from fear to confidence. [16:59] The past year brought clarity: her center's “why” is teaching resilience, not just to children, but to her staff. [19:04] Personal growth, including spiritual habits and consistency, helped Jessica move through fear and burnout. [22:02] Missing her daily practices for just two weeks during Summit reminded her how essential small habits are for inner peace. [23:29] Jessica teaches her staff to create “personal policies and procedures” the same way a company would, down to details like where to leave a retainer at night. [26:51] Her team resonated deeply with the message, and starting small helped them follow through on goals they'd struggled with for years. [28:09] Jessica applies the CEO mindset to social media habits too: setting systems and supervision helps her stay accountable without cutting Instagram out entirely. [30:46] Systems = success. Whether it's the gym or your phone, adjusting your system helps you follow through. [36:41] Just like sharing your brownies, it's important to share your strengths and successes. [38:17] Marketing strategy: strong Google Ads, Facebook, and Instagram stories, a busy road, rotating banners, and word-of-mouth from alumni families. [41:56] Jessica and her husband pursued a second location but learned through the process that they needed a little more time to prepare. [44:25] Not getting the building was a hard lesson in acceptance but also an opportunity for growth, reflection, and systems testing. Quotes: “Get comfortable being uncomfortable, and you'll see the growth.” — Jessica [12:30] “I have slowly been learning my passion and realizing that resilience, along with communication, is just huge. It's huge.” — Jessica [19:05] “We are our own CEOs, and we have to have policies and procedures for ourselves, and we have to follow them just like a company. If you don't do that, it fails.” — Jessica [23:29] “If you do what you say you're going to do, then you have a higher level of deservingness, self-love, and value.” — Kris [27:50] “When things either go my way or don't go my way, it's like, I'm not going to put power into wanting to claw at it and control it and need it and be in resistance to the fact that it's not working. It's just to be in acceptance and it'll flow.” — Jessica [45:08] Sponsored By: ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) Use code CCSC5 to claim a free course! In this week's Quick Fire Friday (QFF) episode, Rob Cameron interviews Brittany Miller, the owner of Brittany Miller Socials, who specializes in social media and email marketing. Brittany shares her expertise and insights on how to effectively use these marketing strategies to grow your business. Brittany primarily works with entrepreneurs and small businesses who are passionate about what they do but aren't getting the results they desire. Many of her clients struggle with growing their follower count, which Brittany acknowledges as a common concern. However, she emphasizes the importance of focusing on measurable results like sales generated from social media efforts. To help businesses improve their social media and email marketing, Brittany outlines her process, starting with a clarity call. During this call, she gets to know the client's goals and assesses their current content strategy. Often, clients aren't talking enough about their products or services and lack strong calls to action in their content. For email marketing, Brittany advises offering incentives to capture email addresses, such as exclusive invites or access. She suggests sending regular emails to maintain engagement and measuring success through open rates and conversions. To illustrate her approach, Brittany provides two scenarios: one for a restaurant and another for a business-to-business (B2B) office refit service. She emphasizes the importance of tailoring the strategy to the specific business and its target audience. For B2B, platforms like LinkedIn become more critical, and extensive research on relevant hashtags is necessary. Brittany wraps up the discussion by emphasizing the importance of crafting a clear and compelling social media bio that answers five key questions: who you are, what you do, who you serve, why people should follow you, and how they can learn more. A strong bio helps convert followers into email subscribers. Ready to dive deeper into this topic? Tune in to this week's podcast episode, where we tackle Brittany's insights on social media, email marketing, and how to grow your follower count. Link to listen now! In this episode, Troy interviews DaRel Daniels from Alsace Legacy Group. He's based in Charlotte in the United States of America. Alsace Legacy Group is a financial literacy platform that helps smaller companies, LLCs, and entrepreneurs to access capital to start their businesses or help their businesses grow that need 100k to 20k to get started. As a chef, he and his wife started a food truck business in Charlotte in 2014. This was before his knowledge of how to get funding and capital. So they started using their own money. In 2019, they sold the food truck, and at around the same time he started on a financial literacy journey that kind of led to the business that they do today. The most stressful point was when one of their 2 food trucks broke down on its second day so they had to shut down and get more funding so they could shoot the equipment into another truck and get back on the road and running. This Cast Covers: How he got started with a food truck business in Charlotte in 2014 How it grew to around 12 to 13 team members Why they decided to transition to their current business What success looks like to him Luxury car rental named Alsace Auto Group and how it got funded Part of the business he had to work on the most to add value Links: LinkedIn Additional Resources: OnlineJobs.ph Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Rejection hurts. Nobody likes the feeling of it. But we need to take risks in our lives and businesses for progress to happen. Today’s guest shares some great advice for how to get over rejection and even turn it into an asset. Key Takeaways All your communication to clients should center on getting them what they want. Be clear on what the problem is that you can solve for them and how you are going to do that. Everything else is just details. Your business needs systems in place if you are going to have any freedom. The consistency that these systems provide will give you the time and space you need to free up your time. About Den Lennie Den Lennie is a true veteran of video broadcast and production having worked in this industry for two and a half decades. He is a business coach and marketing strategist who partners with video professionals to grow their video business. Making Connections Without Fear Den explains why it’s easier than many think to make the connections needed to grow their business. In a world where most people rely on texts and emails, an old-fashioned phone call gets overlooked. Actually picking up the phone and making that call sets you apart immediately. Den describes what you can start doing right away to build the confidence needed to make these important calls. This means moving past the fear of rejection. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, you need to take risks. When you think about it though, reaching out to prospective clients doesn’t actually risk much. They may say no. That’s okay. As Den explains, each rejection gets you that much closer to someone ready to say yes. What Your Clients Really Want From You Remember that your clients don’t care about your gadgets and equipment. All those little details that help you make amazing videos are not what is going to land clients. What they care about is certainty. Be consistent with your systems and how you present your business. Interestingly, Den has found that the more consistent and disciplined you are in your business, the more creative you can be. It’s this structure that allows you to find the time you need to enjoy doing what you want to do. How do you deal with rejection? What systems give you more freedom? Leave a comment on the episode page! In This Episode: Having the guts to make the right connections [4:40] Overcoming the fear of rejection by building confidence [9:10] Why your clients don’t care about what you care about [20:50] How discipline brings freedom [25:00] Building resilience through failure and setbacks [34:00] Quotes “Get to no as quickly as possible. You want to be calling people, connecting with people, and then saying no, because the more nos you get, the closer you are to a yes.” [8:45] “If you want to be an entrepreneur, you have to solve problems. And the more problems you solve, the more money you will make. The more people who you help, the more money you will make.” [10:25] “If you want to run a video business, you have to step back from editing, and then shooting, and then become a producer. But you can still have creative input because your creativity shifts to creating a business and opportunity for your team and providing a future for families.” [28:03] Links: Join Grow Your Video Business on Facebook Sign up for the free Client Budget Workshop Core Storyblocks Find Den Lennie online Follow Den on Linkedin Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins Additional Links: Check out the full show notes page Do you have something to share on this podcast? That’s where the best things happen in my experience.” “I stumbled for a long while, but I didn’t really notice because it was so much fun making music and sharing it. It took two years until someone listened and I was writing to a blank Twitter feed. It took a while but then it was incredibly gratifying.” “The gratification and validation that you get from an audience is great but it shouldn’t be the purpose of why you’re making things.” “It’s a huge inspiration to know that there are people waiting for your next creative work. That can really push you. But at the same time, that can push you into a corner where you feel like you have to create a certain style.” “I don’t plan on stopping music, basically ever.” “Consistency beats intensity. If you do something for five minutes every day, then you’re a person who does something daily.” Links mentioned: SpeoTV Bob Ross Twitch Stream Connect with Speo: Website / Soundcloud / Bandcamp / Facebook / YouTube / Twitter
