When you tell me who to interview, I listen. Who should I interview, I asked folks on Facebook. What central PA creators would you like to hear from? And one of the most asked-for names was Sc'eric Horner, the bartender at Pine Grove Hall in Pine Grove Mills, PA. He's a regular on top bartender lists in the area, he's creative, some say eccentric, but almost everyone agrees: he makes great drinks. I got the interview, and it's here, all 50 minutes of it. I found him to be open, honest, and a fascinating interview. I think you're going to enjoy this, whether you find cocktails intriguing or not. To be honest, a 50 minute interview didn't give me a lot of room for much else. What I'm Drinking Today is a Liberty Pole Spirits canned Old Fashioned, made with their straight rye whiskey. Can a canned Old Fashioned be any good? We'll find out! The Smack-Dab in the Centre sponsorship moment is about some great cocktail bars in State College. I would remind you about the small contest we have going on. I'm asking you for your favorite central Pennsylvania foods, and suggestions on which one you'd like to hear about in a future episode. If your suggestion is the winner, I'll thank you by name in the episode and send you five STAG stickers; and I'll draw a random winner from all respondents to get another five-pack of STAG stickers! Next episode? I have a barbecue interview, but I'd rather keep that for warmer weather. I have a couple interview prospects bubbling, they might work out; or I might do a town profile, seems like a good time to get on the road. See you in two weeks! Until then? Taboo to Truth: Unapologetic Conversations About Sexuality in Midlife
Some people say kink is just about pain. Others think it's only for people with trauma. Some have never given it a second thought—and then there are those who know exactly what their kink is… or at least think they do. But what if kink is about more than any of that?In this episode, I sit down with Sir Leezus, a sensual sadist and erotic power exchange expert, to talk about what really draws people into kink. Is it healing? Is it about control? Is it even sex at all? For some, kink happens without a single touch below the belt—but the emotional intimacy? That can run deeper than any bedroom encounter. We explore why so many people—especially in midlife—start to unlock new layers of desire after years of silence or shame. And how things like spanking, submission, and even humiliation can become powerful tools for rediscovering connection, pleasure, and self-trust.If you've ever felt like something's missing, or like your desires don't fit the standard mold… this conversation might make more sense than you expect. Let's get into it.Timestamps:In This Episode:(00:00) - Introduction(00:40) - Sir Leezus: His roles as sex educator, kink advisor, and "sensual sadist dominant."(01:13) - What is a sensual sadist dominant?(02:20) - BDSM vocab 101: Bondage, Dominance, Submission & Sadomasochism(04:00) - Can kink be healing from past trauma?(07:20) - Does BDSM always involve sex?(09:06) - Pain and pleasure: Understanding masochism(11:42) - How midlife women discover kink (and what opens them up)(15:25) - Safety, vetting, and how to trust a partner in kink(19:16) - Definitions: Dom vs. Top, Sub vs. Bottom, Switches(21:46) - What's a Stag and Vixen dynamic?(22:54) - Hotwifing vs. Cuckolding(24:50) - Penis humiliation? Understanding the mental side of masochism(25:58) Relationship between certain kinks and past trauma(26:06) - Reclaiming trauma through consensual non-consent(27:35) - Sir Leezus defines sex in his own words(28:18) - Where to find and work with Sir LeezusKaren Bigman, a Sexual Health Alliance Certified Sex Educator, Life, and Menopause Coach, tackles the often-taboo subject of sexuality with a straightforward and candid approach. We explore the intricacies of sex during perimenopause, post-menopause, and andropause, offering insights and support for all those experiencing these transformative phases. This podcast is not intended to give medical advice. If one of our correspondents is correct in saying that we didn't break 80 with our last episode, then it is very possible we shoot in the low-90s with this one. Iain is absent and Andrew and Eddie drift, rudderless, across the golfing oceans although they do make attempts to discuss the dramatic finish to the first women's major of the season, a first win for Marco Penge and his impressive thighs on the DP World Tour and also wonder if playing good golf on your own is actually good golf at all.Visit: www.petermillar.co.ukhttps://biggolfrace.prostatecanceruk.org/Instagram: @chippingforecastemail us: tcf@thechippingforecast.co.uk Hosted on Acast. I went way out in the Pennsylvania Wilds, up in elk country (not Elk County), to interview a couple who make salad dressings and ship them across the country. Village Eatinghouse dressings...or are they sauces? Marinades? Whatever they are, they're delicious and versatile, and they're made here in Centre County, so I went out and found Clay and Melanie Phillips in Pine Glen, PA. We talked, we tasted, we had a few laughs. You'll like it. Those dressings made me think of all the ways I do little hacks and additions when I'm cooking, so I talked about that, including another central PA favorite, Gazebo Room Salad Dressing. I give you a couple short recipes for shortcut family favorites, including one with a surprising secret ingredient. We have another small contest! I'm asking you to fill in a list of Pennsylvania foods at the end of the episode, and suggest what Pennsylvania food you'd like to hear about in a future episode. I'll draw a random winner from respondents to get a five-pack of STAG stickers! There's an absolute bonus on What I'm Drinking Today: three different Dad's Hat rye whiskey tasting, including an as-yet-unreleased Danko rye whiskey. Next episode, if I can get a second short interview, will be about trout fishing in central PA. I've interviewed two fishing guides, I went to a couple opening day parties -- why didn't anyone tell me about opening day parties?! -- and I learned about fishing. See you in two weeks! Until then? The Inside TrackThe Guys reminisce about a particular bottle of Tony's pinot noir that may have changed Francis' life and talk about the true purpose of wine: enjoyment.“The ultimate satisfaction is when you can sit there and watch the bottle go down and watch the smiles on people's faces,” Tony Soter on The Restaurant Guys Podcast 2007BioTony Soter is the founder, with his late wife Michelle, of Soter Vineyards at Mineral Springs Ranch in Yamhill-Carlton, Oregon. Soter is a Portland, Oregon, native who began his remarkable 40-year winemaking career in the Napa Valley. The bracket contest is BACK! Everyone's favorite segment returns at the end of this show. The well is stocked with magazines and toys and Tony is doing his “very best” to keep out of there as he has to guess which is better: Michelob Golden Ultra Light Gold Bock, or Natty Daddy ICE Baddie? Good luck binch! Anyways, Tony and I spent way too much time on Bulls crap and we had a highly disjointed AF1 update of the week - it seems like the league has been around for years and yet they've only played 6 games and one team has somehow been in 3 of them? Also, the show has a bad and dangerous text message leak and we are sent to the gulag. Tony revisited some of his favorite Maffcos and Mountain Cultures and I tried to figure out if Luka Modric's brewery is as good and cool as him. Next week! The bracket returns with the RETRO BEERS!! Between The Covers : Conversations with Writers in Fiction, Nonfiction & Poetry
Four novellas, in four different genres—science fiction, horror, teen romance, and a western—Stag Dance not only interrogates genre, but gender through genre. Written over a ten year period, Torrey Peters' new book spans a decade when her own views and insights about gender were themselves changing. Placing these four novellas in conversation with each other […] The post Torrey Peters : Stag Dance appeared first on Tin House.

Eric Newman speaks with Torrey Peters about her new story collection, Stag Dance, which spans genre, time, and place to explore the shifting sands of gender, sex, desire, and identity. From a post-apocalyptic world in which everyone is trans to a pirate logging camp in the early 1900s where desire and gender explode in surprising ways, the stories in Stag Dance plumb the murky and often ugly feelings that contradict the “good politics” narrative of the transgender experience. Eric and Torrey discuss how our desires and identities often remain unintelligible to us, how the materialist force of capitalism shapes those desires and our relationships with others, and what history might tell us about today's unprecedented assault on trans rights and lives.

It's Ticked Off Tuesday, and Jared is diving into listener complaints that are as hilarious as they are infuriating. One listener vents about the absurdity of airline pricing after booking two identical seats at wildly different costs just to save $40. Another listener rages over paying for YouTube Premium, only to suffer through creator-inserted ad breaks — and don't even get them started on people with blinding headlights in drive-thrus. And finally, we break down the wild world of rural Canadian “stag and doe” parties, where a listener is asked to drive 2.5 hours, pay for entry, and bid in a silent auction… for a wedding they're not even invited to. Is this just a cultural difference, or next-level entitlement? Jared sorts through the madness with his signature blend of humor and sharp takes. Feather, feather!

This week it was a Toby week, and we learnt that someone on the show has a sixth sense…We had the hilarious Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicomb in to tell us about their new TV show, and after some minor technical issues and some major lateness, we managed to hear all about Rob's memorable time at Ally Pally….We also had the wonderful Martin Compston in to tell us about his brand new series and what it's like to watch a naughty scene of yourself with your mum…. and that's straight outta Compston! Watch This Episode On YouTubeThis is as close as I've ever been to going Joe Rogan style, four hour interview.I've never talked with someone so willing to discuss the history of cinema (in this case, Taiwanese) than my guest today, Birdy Wei-Ting Hung. She directed the brilliant film, A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY FOR THE LADY AVENGERS (2024), which screened at Slamdance. In order to make the film, she drew on years of reading history and watching cinema. If you loved school, or even if you didn't, prepare for the best class ever with Birdy. In this episode, we discuss:how she became a subject matter expert on Taiwanese cinema and learned to love horror films;how Edward Young and other filmmakers influenced her film;if a critic can take their own biases out of their judgment on a particular film and whether students of film can see that in others' works;Sean Baker's influence on her type of filmmaking and the bravery to take on subjects like sexual awakening, which is a theme of her film;who she thinks are female directors taking similar steps and her thoughts on labels;what her first screening at Fantastic Fest and in Taiwan was like;why Slamdance? it's her first time at the festival;does she consider herself a California filmmmaker?her work on music videos and what her first feature looks like -- "I'm not one of those people that has to be working on a feature"Birdy's Indie Film Highlights: MAULED BY A DOG (2024) dir. by Sion Owens; THE STAG (2023) dir. by An ChuLinks:Follow Birdy Wei-Ting Hung On InstagramVideo Essay For A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY FOR THE LADY AVENGERS (2024)Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/first-time-go/exclusive-content

William Hess-Martin of Venatic Opus is a writer, hunter, artist and Jungian in Southern Quebec, Canada. On this Jungian walkabout, we explore a handful of the ideas of Swiss psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, as they relate to hunting. After Jungian readings about hunting taboos & ritual in native cultures, we begin with musings on Canada, America, Europe, Catholicism and Protestantism all leading to St. Hubert [the patron saint of hunters] for a discussion about the symbology, history and legend of the saint's conversion before the divine stag. From Hubert's stag to William's buck, we hear the story of William's first whitetail hunt and what that meant for him opening conversations on instincts, the search, and the numinous. Through the symbol of the white deer, William dives into Carl Jung's study of alchemy as a metaphor for personal transformation, a combining of the material with the spiritual; including the Greek myth of the huntress Atalanta appearing in an alchemical text from the 1600's. Then we're on to the fantastical unicorn of medieval legend & lore with William beautifully describing the famous Hunt of the Unicorn tapestries with their Edenic forests, hounds, huntsmen, and the pure-hearted virgin. We end this Jungian trek on the most Jungian topic possible...the interpretation of dreams, and hunting dreams no less! Reading from Shadow and Evil in Fairy Tales and Interpretation of Fairy Tales by Marie-Louise von Franz. In the days leading up to the wedding of Amos and Edda, Edda tries to seduce her (mostly) gay roommate Seth. He rebuffs her, or does he? She's engaged to Amos, but she (at the very least) dry humps his knee. He says no. But then (apparently?) he changes his mind and has sex with her anyway. Later, that same night? Later, like, the next day? It's impossible to decipher. But later she has sex with Amos and declares to him that she has always loved him. Both she and Seth lie about what happened. Amos seems to know what really happened but shoves it down deep inside so he can carry on living inside The Greatest Love Affair The World Has Ever Seen. As a result of whatever Edda did with Seth, she wants to elope. But they're stopped by Juliette and Seth who both want there to be a regular wedding, for very different reasons. Juliette wants a wedding she can attend, Seth wants Edda to wear the wedding dress he made her. The reasons he made the dress were to make Amos so amazed by her beauty that he would feel inferior and run to Seth for comfort, so Seth could then fuck Amos. Guys, this is actually what he says out loud in the strip. They get married. Their dog sniffs Eddas ass. And The Greatest Love Affair The World Has Ever Seen continues!
