Notas. Inglés y Español ⬇️November 21: Is it worth being good?Psalms 73:10-28:Therefore his people return here, and waters of a full cup are drained by them. And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?” Behold, these are the ungodly, who are always at ease; they increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I had said, “I will speak thus,” behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. When I thought how to understand this, it was too painful for me— until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. As a dream when one awakes, so, Lord, when You awake, You shall despise their image. Thus my heart was grieved, and I was vexed in my mind. I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry. But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works. The third part begins with this psalm, which is a compilation of the book of psalms. The first 10 psalms are authored by Asaph, one of the main leaders of the worship directors stipulated by David. Psalm 10 and Psalm 37 are very similar to the theme of this psalm about the dilemma we see in the world, of people who are living lives totally contrary to the Word of God, living lives full of immorality and injustice, mocking and rejecting all that is of God.This psalm is like a testimony of Asaph, telling us what that process was like from his frustration, doubt, revelation and conclusion. First he tells us how it is unfair that people who have no fear of God are satisfied with their needs and desires; they are full of abundance despite their works of arrogance and even blasphemers, thinking only of themselves and not of their Creator. This issue is so complex and delicate that Asaph here reported that many of the people depart from the faith, following the footsteps of these impious people. Asaph, as a spiritual leader, also exposed his own frustration and confessed his doubts, whether it was really worth keeping his heart from evil and having maintained his integrity by staying on the path of good. I think we have all been through that dilemma and perhaps we have also become frustrated. It is important to recognize these contradictory feelings, that struggle of the mind, and I think it is necessary to process them and find an answer because if it is not done, our children will go after these impious people and they will guide them in the lie, making them think that the evil does pays, that living messy lives is common and that it is a waste of time to live pious and holy lives. The ambition to achieve short-term success, doing wrong or immoral things is in vogue and on the rise. Easy money and compromising their convictions to achieve a job position or level of influence has become common, both among young people and adults. That is why we must open a space for dialogue and ask the Lord for direction so that the God of Asaph, who is also our God, gives us the same revelation. Talk with family members to understand that it is worth standing firm in the faith! despite the pressures we face in schools or workplaces. Asaph said that when he entered the temple of God, in His presence, he received this revelation of God that opened his eyes: He was able to see how the evil one, in the end, receives the payment of his consequences. God showed him that all of this is temporary and that life does not completely fill or satisfy the human soul. Asaph recognized that he was living a stage of ignorance, but that God had given him the knowledge. God had patience with Asaph, and then He showed him all these things because Asaph did something very important and it was not to let go of the hand of God even though he was going through that dilemma and spiritual confusion. In the end, Asaph recognized that God took him by the hand, led him little by little so that he understood the way of justice and that in the end the Lord will give us eternal life to be with Him in His glory.Asaph concluded his psalm by declaring that now he cannot live without the Lord, that now his gaze is only on Him and that God is the only one he would like to have in his life. Let us remember the need to be searching for the answer to our dilemmas in constant prayer. God will reveal to us what we don't understand. I invite you to pray this prayer today and learn to memorize these verses 25 and 26: "Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”Consider:Have you been discouraged when you see the impious prosper? Please take time to read the entire chapter of this wonderful psalm. I am your friend Eduardo Rodríguez. May the Lord hear your prayer and reveal to you all His purposes in your life. ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈Noviembre 21: ¿Vale la pena ser bueno?Salmos 73:10-28 RVA2015:"... So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.” And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear! Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me.” And the Lord said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him. At the 2021 Ancestral Health Symposium (AHS) in Los Angeles last month I was able to catch up with microbiome researcher and writer Lucy Mailing, PhD. This year Lucy presented on the topic of Rewilding the Gut, noting the detrimental effects of our modern environment, diet, and lifestyle on the gut microbiome. Lucy has been on the podcast twice before, talking about optimising the gut microbiome and debunking microbiome myths and misconceptions. Lucy's research and writings are truly cutting-edge and have consistently shaped our recommendations and approach to gut health with our clients. On this podcast, Lucy shares some of the concepts she outlined during her AHS Talk, including the specific aspects of modern living that interfere with microbiome diversity and establishing a basis for chronic disease. She talks about the hygiene hypothesis, including the need for early childhood exposure to microbes, and some of the best ways to support a healthy gut ecosystem. JUDGES 14-15:Yesterday we heard the conclusion of Jephthah's six years as a judge of Israel. Then we heard briefly of three more judges, and then about the miracles preceding the birth of Samson. PSALM 85:This psalm is one appropriate at any time and to anyone. There are hidden nuggets of spiritual gold here— deep truths that are worth digging for. 1TIMOTHY 1:Yesterday in the final chapter of Galatians, Paul continued what he was saying (from chapter 5) about the contrast between being led by God's Spirit versus allowing our sinful natures to lead us. And Paul returned to something he said in chapter two, explaining the figure of being crucified with Christ. It means being so much in union with Christ as to consider ourselves dead to this world. Paul had marks on his body that were much more valuable than circumcision, and those were the scars he had gained as a representative of Christ. Today we turn to Paul’s first letter to Timothy. This contrasts with the letter we have just finished in that it is personal correspondence written to Paul’s disciple. Timothy was so dear to Paul that he considered him a son. Paul had given Timothy— who was still a young man, the task of shepherding the church at Ephesus. This book is important for the personal advice, for personal insight given about Paul, for insight into church leadership, and for the sound teachings for us to follow. GNT Translation notes: Ps. 85:2 [CEV You have forgiven the sinand taken away the guiltof your people.//You have forgiven your people's sinsand pardoned all their wrongs.]3 [CEV Your fierce anger is no longeraimed at us.//You stopped being angry with themand held back your furious rage.]8 I am listening to what [You, O Lord God are//the Lord God is] saying; You promise//he promises] peace to us, [your//his] own people,if we do not go back to our foolish ways.9 Surely [You are//he is] ready to save [us//those] who honor [You//him],and [your//his] saving presence will remain in our land.11 [CEV Loyalty will sproutfrom the ground;justice will look downfrom the sky above.//Human loyalty will reach up from the earth, and God's righteousness will look down from heaven.]12 [You, O Lord//The Lord] will make us prosperous, and our land will produce rich harvests.13 [Righteousness is like a path spread out before You, Lord—And that is the road You will always follow.//Righteousness will go before the Lordand prepare the path for him. ==== 1Tim. 1:2 [To Timothy. John 8:48-59 The Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?" 49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 "But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 51 "Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he will never see death." 52 The Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.' 53 "Surely You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be?" 54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, 'He is our God'; 55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." 57 So the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple. Ex 3:13-16 Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?" 14 God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" 15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.

[Quran Chapter 3] 190. In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, are signs for people of understanding. 191. Those who remember Allah while standing, and sitting, and on their sides; and they reflect upon the creation of the heavens and the earth: "Our Lord, You did not create this in vain, glory to You, so protect us from the punishment of the Fire." 192. "Our Lord, whomever You commit to the Fire, You have disgraced. The wrongdoers will have no helpers." 193. "Our Lord, we have heard a caller calling to the faith: `Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, and remit our misdeeds, and make us die in the company of the virtuous." 194. "Our Lord, and give us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Surely You never break a promise." 195. And so their Lord answered them: "I will not waste the work of any worker among you, whether male or female. You are one of another. For those who emigrated, and were expelled from their homes, and were persecuted because of Me, and fought and were killed—I will remit for them their sins, and will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow—a reward from Allah. With Allah is the ultimate reward." 196. Do not be impressed by the disbelievers' movements in the land. 197. A brief enjoyment, then their abode is Hell. What a miserable resort. 198. As for those who feared their Lord: for them will be gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever—hospitality from Allah. What Allah possesses is best for the just. 199. Among the People of the Scripture are those who believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed to them. They are humble before Allah, and they do not sell Allah's revelations for a cheap price. These will have their reward with their Lord. Allah is swift in reckoning. 200. O you who believe! Be patient, and advocate patience, and be united, and revere Allah, so that you may thrive. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mochzamroni/support
In today's episode of The Art of Passive Income, Mark and Scott talk with Stephen Shapiro—StephenShapiro.com. Stephen is a big deal. He is in the business of company innovation and helps companies like 3M, Proctor and Gamble, Nike, and Marriott improve their innovation practices. Stephen is also the author of four books and has spoken to audiences in 50 different countries. Before Stephen became an expert in innovation and helping companies grow he was working at the opposite end of the spectrum in business optimization, which meant he was helping companies shrink and in the process people were losing their jobs. Seeing the impact it had on those who lost their jobs, he decided that he didn't want to be part of that process anymore. So, he took a leave of absence and then decided to focus on innovation and growth. He created a 20,000 person practice and has never looked back since… that was over 20 years ago. Join us as Stephen dives deep into the approach of business innovation, including: The real definition of innovation How he convinces big companies to innovate instead of cut Where he sees companies struggling The worst advice he has seen given Plus, so much more! You can cut expenses and become optimized, however, you can't cut your way to success. If you start cutting out all the expenses then the revenue is going to take a hit too because the two of them work hand in hand. There is no end date in innovation. You don't reach your goals then take your foot off the accelerator and expect your company to keep going at status quo. Innovation is constantly changing and evolving with the market and it's important to stay on top of your game and always look for new ways to grow and stay relevant in the market. Jeff Bezos is a good example of that. Jeff founded Amazon nearly 25 years ago, it's the largest online retailer in the world and his foot is still on the gas pedal. They are still innovating like they are new. He's set this long-term time horizon that says, “We are not dealing with today—we are dealing with 500 years from now. We are not done—We haven't even begun.” Listen in as we travel deep into the world of business innovation, and find out which 3 CEOs Stephan would invite to dinner and what question he would ask them. John FitzSimons earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) from Purdue University and has worked at Motorola, Northrop Grumman and now currently at GoogleX working on drones. At Motorola John helped design cell phones starting out in battery charging, moving into display technology, and then into high speed processor design. Jon then moved to Northrop Grumman designing Electronic Warfare (EW) equipment. His expertise is high speed processing and then interfacing that processing power to the outside world. At GoogleX working on drones, while is pilots license is not 100% applicable, he says it has helped. Outside of work he has done some glass blowing and metal work which has been quite interesting. John provides advice that college is a place where you should try to take in as many experiences as you can and you need to take time during the day to re-charge. John’s recommended book is “Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!” by Richard P. Feynman This book is available on Audible and you can get a free book from Audible at www.stemonfirebook.com and can cancel within 30 days and keep the book of your choice with no cost. We all have these things in our life that we accept as a first principle while having no scientific basis or reason for believing in that thing. Today we do a deep dive of the world’s raddest man: Elon Musk. We’re exploring the wildly popular Elon Musk series by “Wait but Why,” focusing on the last article titled “The Cook and the Chef: Elon Musk’s Secret Sauce” which explores just how Musk might be able to do all the things he can do. And most importantly, we discuss how any of us can use these tools to enhance our own thinking and work. How any of us can be more chef than cook. Kalid Azad and I discuss August’s book, Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman. This is the autobiography of the Nobel-prize winning physicist, Richard Feynman. As I make the case at the start of the video, the benefit of reading biographies is that you get to see how someone very accomplished lived and thought in ways different from you. I find this a lot more effective than reading books expounding the virtues of creativity, curiosity or courage–you actually get to see how someone who embodied those characteristics lived in concrete terms.
In this episode, Jason Staples and Erik Rostad discuss book 10 of the 2017 Books of Titans Reading list – Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman. Richard Phillips Feynman May 11, 1918 – February 15, 1988) was an American theoretical physicist known for his work in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as in particle physics for which he proposed the parton model. For his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics, Feynman, jointly with Julian Schwinger and Shin'ichirō Tomonaga, received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965. Feynman developed a widely used pictorial representation scheme for the mathematical expressions governing the behavior of subatomic particles, which later became known as Feynman diagrams. During his lifetime, Feynman became one of the best-known scientists in the world. In a 1999 poll of 130 leading physicists worldwide by the British journal Physics World he was ranked as one of the ten greatest physicists of all time. He assisted in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II and became known to a wide public in the 1980s as a member of the Rogers Commission, the panel that investigated the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. Along with his work in theoretical physics, Feynman has been credited with pioneering the field of quantum computing and introducing the concept of nanotechnology. He held the Richard C. Tolman professorship in theoretical physics at the California Institute of Technology. Feynman was a keen popularizer of physics through both books and lectures, including a 1959 talk on top-down nanotechnology called There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom, and the three-volume publication of his undergraduate lectures, The Feynman Lectures on Physics. Feynman also became known through his semi-autobiographical books Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! and What Do You Care What Other People Think? and books written about him, such as Tuva or Bust! and Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman by James Gleick.
Ditched by the scheduled guest, Jimmy comes up with a brilliant plan to save the podcast session. Instead of a famous person, who writes a comics stip about grad school, why not just go straight to the source? Someone actually in grad school. So Jimmy brings back 2nd year grad student, Shyam Saladi, who is working on his PhD in biochemistry and molecular biophysics. The experiment works perfectly and Jimmy, Kevin and Griff bust out yet another hilarious episode Surely You’re Joking.
Tim Ferriss is the author of The Four Hour Workweek and The Four Hour Body. “If you have a fitness magazine, you can’t just write one issue, ‘Here are the rules!’ ... My job, conversely, is to make myself obsolete. The last thing I want to be is a guru, someone people come to for answers. I want to be the person people come to for better questions.” Thanks to TinyLetter and The Great Courses for sponsoring this week's episode. Safecracker, prankster, bongo drummer, painter, teacher. Richard Feynman was many things in addition to being a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, and he seemed to enjoy the incongruities of his varied interests. His collection of anecdotes Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! chronicles some of these pursuits, while also shedding light on Feynman's years at Los Alamos working on the atomic bomb in the company of J. Robert Oppenheimer, Niels Bohr and others.Join us this week to find out how a man goes from illuminating the behavior of subatomic particles to spending his free time in California banging on the bongo and sketching nude models.
