Ethical Persuasion   Ethical Persuasion: The Fastest Path from "Maybe" to "Yes" (Without Being Pushy)   Most decisions aren't made by logic—they're made by fast, intuitive shortcuts.   That's why great offers often stall: we speak to System 2 logic while the listener's System 1 is steering the wheel. In this episode, Patrick Van Der Burght—ethical persuasion expert and business partner of Dr. Robert Cialdini—shows how to align with how people actually decide using Cialdini's seven principles of influence. The result? Communication that feels natural, honest, and effective whether you're leading, selling, or simply asking for change.   7 Key Insights You Can Apply Today: Reciprocity ≠ "freebie-for-email." A true gift has no strings attached. If you require an email, it's a reward—not a gift—so it won't trigger reciprocity. Action: Offer one no-opt-in resource purely to serve. Liking > "be likable." It's more persuasive that you genuinely like them than that they like you. Action: Express authentic appreciation before making an ask. Unity creates momentum. When people feel part of a shared identity, they move faster and farther together. Action: Involve your audience, team, or clients in co-creating outcomes. Social Proof must match the buyer. People follow others like them. Action: Use case studies or testimonials that mirror your ideal client's stage or values. Authority: let others announce your credibility. Self-promotion weakens authority and liking; third-party validation strengthens both. Action: Add a professional intro or testimonial that speaks your credibility for you. Credibility lives in precision. Rounded numbers signal estimates; decimals signal truth. Action: Use exact figures—"75.4%" sounds real, "75%" sounds guessed. Loss beats gain. People act faster to avoid loss than to gain reward. Action: Reframe offers by showing what's lost through inaction.   Money Learning from Patrick's Upbringing: Patrick grew up in a home where money was tight and every decision had to stretch the family's limited resources. That environment taught him that real wealth isn't about how much you have—it's about how much value you create. Instead of chasing easy wins or cutting corners, he learned to lead with integrity and influence through trust. Persuasion, used ethically, opens doors that money alone never could. It's not manipulation—it's a tool for mutual success.   Key Takeaway: Ethical persuasion is the art of aligning truth with trust. When your words honor both, "yes" becomes the natural next step.   Bio: Before 2000, he was a sales rep, looking after a large part of Australia, selling Scuba Diving equipment to retailers. He was frustrated with the level of time and effort he was putting in, wanted to be better at selling, but he didn't want to lie or cheat either.   It was then that he discovered the work of Dr Robert Cialdini, and he has had a passion for educating others about this because he knows how much time, resources, and success they are wasting without it.   Circumstances enabled him to start teaching this science to professionals with Dr Cialdini's permission since 2000. In 2023, he was invited to become a Founding Member of the Cialdini Institute and was the first Cialdini Certified Professional and Coach to be accepted in the Cialdini Institute Licensed Trainer program.   Sales is other when Ethical Persuasion is first introduced, but it is not exclusively for sales. It is about creating behaviour in others and so that applies to any situation where a goal gets reached through the agreement or compliance of others.   Ethical Persuasion is NOT manipulation A common mistake is to think that persuasion is making people do things they don't want to. Research shows that unethical use of persuasion science leads to long-term disaster, and ethical use leads to both short- and long-term success. This is why teams (and your audience) really embrace this way of communicating and use it.   Research-based Nothing you get from him is based on Patrick's gut feelings or unfounded personal experience. What we as Cialdini Certified Trainers teach is grounded in research and scientifically sound.   Also for young adults He loves sharing this with professionals, but he also has a passion to teach this to young adults before they attempt to 'convince' an employer with a predictably inefficient job application and go to an interview 'unarmed' when it comes to persuasion skills. Persuasion is a much in-demand soft skill that should be mastered early in life, rather than late in life.   When the penny drops It is engraved in his mind that eye-opening feeling he got when it sank in how easy, ethical, and powerful this science is to learn and practice. To this day, he loves seeing that in the eyes of my audience. He hopes to give your audience this same experience.   Links: Website: https://ethicalpersuasion.com.au/ Podcast 'Ethical Persuasion Unlocked' : https://ethicalpersuasion.com.au/podcast/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ethicalpersuasion Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrick-van-der-burght/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ethicalpersuasion/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ethical_persuasion/ Twitter: https://x.com/yesmoreoften TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ethicalpersuasion Book: https://yesmoreoften.com/ FREE Give-Away: Downloadable e-book (no email required, just download), and/or 7-day Influence Challenge: https://ethicalpersuasion.com.au/free-influence-persuasion/   Which of the seven principles do you naturally embody—and which one could transform your results if practiced intentionally?   #RicherSoul #EthicalPersuasion #Cialdini #Leadership #Influence #Integrity #DecisionMaking #Trust   Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@richersoul Richer Soul Life Beyond Money. The conversation moves beyond conference highlights and into the reality of everyday following. Andy invites Eric to share how he understands true discipleship, not as a program or event, but as a way of life shaped by Jesus, formed in community, and practiced in the ordinary rhythms of the week. Together, they explore what it really means to walk with others, be shaped over time, and stay faithful in the slow, unseen places where real formation happens.  The title, More Obscure Than Scott Vander Ploeg, is a playful homage to Paul Vanderklay's praise of the conference's host pastor. It carries both humor and respect, nodding to the kind of quiet, faithful leadership that often goes unnoticed but makes a lasting impact. Support the showSUPPORT THE SHOW BEYOND SUBSCRIPTIONS1. My guest for this conversation didn't set out to have fourteen children in her home. But through every step of her journey, she boldly trusted in the Lord and kept stepping out in faith. Beth van der Wel is not only a biological mom to three, but she is also an adoptive and foster parent to an additional 11 children. Throughout their nearly three decades of marriage, Beth and her husband, Robin, have opened their hearts and their home to however the Lord would lead, which would include welcoming entire sibling groups into their home all at once. From an unexpected nudge toward adoption to watching God bring life and hope to children the world had given up on, Beth has seen firsthand that you don't have to have a perfect plan to be used by God. Beth recently joined the TFI Team as an Advocate in Marshall County, Alabama. In this episode, Beth shares how she is living out her call to serve vulnerable children, the importance of making caseworkers feel seen and supported, how even 24 hours can have a profound impact on a child's life, and much more. Grant McGaugh sits down with Richard Vanderblom, the global authority on social selling and LinkedIn strategy, to unpack how AI-driven behaviors, automated outreach, and shifting relevance signals are reshaping what works and what backfires. If you've watched your reach drop or felt your DMs fill with spam, this conversation maps a smarter path forward. We dig into the metrics that actually matter—qualified DMs, right-fit invites, and conversions on low-commitment offers—and why “views” are a value metric when treated as a bridge to action. Richard explains LinkedIn's emerging “interest clusters,” how second and third-degree engagement now carries more weight, and why chasing viral content outside your niche sabotages your credibility. The guidance is clear: stay in your lane, focus 80% of your posts on your core expertise, and let relevance compound.Leaders get a practical content playbook that outperforms company pages: personal storytelling that shares real lessons, point-of-view thought leadership that leads, co-created posts with peers to unlock new networks, and video or live formats to build instant trust. The Science of Ethical Persuasion — Strategies to Hear “Yes” More Often with Patrick Van Der BurghtIn this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, host Josh Elledge speaks with Patrick Van Der Burght, SHIELD Certified Coach, Sydney Institute licensed trainer, and founder of Ethical Persuasion. Patrick shares how ethical persuasion—rooted in behavioral science—can drastically improve how you communicate, sell, and lead. He explains why persuasion isn't about manipulation but about building trust, creating clarity, and helping others say “yes” to what's right for them.Master the Psychology of Persuasion Without ManipulationPatrick Van Der Burght's approach begins with reframing what persuasion really is: not trickery, but a science-based method to guide decision-making ethically and effectively. Drawing on the seven universal principles of persuasion—reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, scarcity, and unity—Patrick shares how understanding these can significantly improve conversations, sales, and influence. He emphasizes that persuasion must be built on relationship, clarity, and trust. If those elements are missing, objections arise and conversions stall. From using specific data to build credibility, to helping clients make public commitments that increase follow-through, Patrick lays out actionable, research-backed strategies anyone can use. He also encourages business owners and consultants to stop chasing “more follow-ups” and instead fix the relationship and clarity gaps first.Whether you're presenting offers, coaching clients, or leading teams, this episode shows how ethical persuasion can lead to stronger relationships, more impact, and consistent results—without pressure or pushiness.About Patrick Van Der BurghtPatrick Van Der Burght is the founder of Ethical Persuasion, a certified SHIELD Coach, licensed Sydney Institute trainer, and author of How to Hear Yes More Often. Daarnaast vroegen we ons af of Marianne Vos én Pauline Ferrand-Prévot gaan crossen.

A touchy subject for me as I believe the term has been misused so many times. But, I had to know what it means and how to use it the right way.Patrick shares the 3-question test that tells you whether your message builds trust or breaks it. He also gives us the science behind how your audience's brain functions before they get to a “yes.”It's a struggle to use persuasion methods when selling without feeling pushy. Send us a textSPECIAL NOTE: SEASON 15 OF THE GOOD, THE POD AND THE UGLY CELEBRATES THE USE OF THE PRACTICAL AND DIGITAL EFFECT KNOWN AS THE SQUIB. IRL GUN VIOLENCE IS INTOLERABLE AND RENOUNCED BUT... CINEMATIC VIOLENCE WILL BE CELEBRATED IN A WAY THAT WILL DISTURB SOME LISTENERS.   TGTPTU books its final perp in the 20-movie-long shooting spree of Season 15 – Squib Games with—dead or alive, you're coming with me—ROBOCOP (1987), a pod favorite.   Like last week's film Walker (played by Ed Harris and not Peter Weller), this week's movie concerns a man caught up in the machinery of his time, except Officer Alex Murphy (played by Peter Weller and not Ed Harris) is a character at least moderately sympathetic, despite his chosen profession. Similarly but instead of returning to the past to satire the violence of American imperialism, this week's feature directed by Paul Verhoeven (his first American film) occurs in the Reagan-esque future of the 1990s to satire the violence of American corporatism. And while the commonalities between this season's final pairing continue, the word count for these show notes is limited.   Jack is out this week. Filling his guest host spot is pod regular Erik W. Van Der Wolf from the Blood and Popcorn podcast.    This ep—while host Ken reveals the origin of his large-frame eyeglasses fetish, host Thomas introduces his replacement for regulating future seasons' discussions, and host Ryan does research and independently comes to the wrong conclusion that RoboCop's action scenes aren't very good—guest Erik weighs in on matters of substance and industry with a slide deck and laser light/hologram show and talking points on how modern filmmaking trends might get in the way of the “lightning in a bottle” confluence of unexpected events that creates an amazing film like Verhoeven's RoboCop and likely prevents another good RoboCop today, a problem not just of franchises but of the modern movie condition of IP and rebootquels. The 3D animation between slides is remarkable; the interactive hologram of Erik as a helmetless RoboCop, Ken as Cain, Ryan as the jetpack, and Thomas as the toxic sludge kill are all mind-blowing. Unfortunate that this is an audio medium. And there are licensing issues. And lawyers.   A special thanks segment and a limited version of our end-of-season film rankings conclude the episode. Also, Season 16's director is announced.  I'd buy that for a dollar!   (The revivified, cybernetic remains of SF legend Harlan Ellison approach with hand extended to accept your dollar.)    ((Post-postscript: There will be two more eps released this season (and calendar year) as i. sometimes you've got to sing for your dinner and ii. our three unwise men will finally be putting the Christ back into Christmas with 2025's Winter Holidays episode.))   THEME SONG BY: WEIRD A.I.Email: thegoodthepodandtheugly@gmail.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/TGTPTUInstagram: https://instagram.com/thegoodthepodandtheugly?igshid=um92md09kjg0Bluesky: @goodpodugly.bsky.socialYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mI2plrgJu-TB95bbJCW-gLetterboxd (follow us!):Podcast: goodpoduglyKen: Ken KoralRyan: Ryan Tobias

We argue whether the multiverse pivot actually helps the story, untangling Jinx as a whole, and where Shimmer and Ekko's rewind fit into that not to mention the mixed feelings that we have on Vi and Jayce and get into a full debate over Ambessa plus a couple of fan-theory rabbit holes like Jinx's likely escape, Heimerdinger futures the whole “no body = not dead” deal. We also compare S1 pacing to S2's choppier but more satisfying structure, call out the intro Easter eggs. Plus a whole lot more. About the anime: Picking up immediately after Jinx's rocket attack on the Piltover council, Season 2 plunges the twin cities into open war. Jinx's act of terror kills Caitlyn's mother, forging Caitlyn into a hardened, revenge-driven military leader, while Vi, torn between her love for Caitlyn and her desperate hope of saving her sister, joins the Enforcers to try and mitigate the conflict between Piltover and Zaun. As the war escalates, it's revealed that Vi and Jinx's adoptive father, Vander, has been monstrously resurrected as the beast Warwick, forcing a devastating family confrontation. The central conflict ultimately shifts as Viktor's "Glorious Evolution" becomes an existential threat to both cities, forcing an uneasy alliance.Next Week's Pick: "Solo Leveling Season 2"Have you had the chance to watch Arcane Season 2 or any of our previous selections?

Get ready to have your mind blown by one of the most exciting frontiers in health science. In this episode of the Not Your Mother's Menopause Podcast, I'm sitting down with the incredibly knowledgeable Kyal Van Der Leest, an Australian Nutritionist and Naturopath who is truly pioneering the future of wellness.  If you've heard the term "peptides" buzzing around but aren't quite sure what they are or how they could revolutionize your health, especially during the hormonal shifts of menopause, this conversation is your essential guide. We dive deep into the fascinating world of peptides, explaining them not as foreign chemicals, but as the body's own innate messengers that speak its language fluently. Kyal masterfully breaks down how these powerful chains of amino acids act as targeted instructions for healing, regeneration, and repair in a way that traditional supplements and pharmaceuticals simply can't.  The conversation gets particularly illuminating as we explore the profound gut-brain connection and how a specific peptide can actually block zonulin—the very protein responsible for creating leaky gut—offering a revolutionary approach to sealing a permeable gut lining. We also discuss why these are often short-term, interventional tools designed to restore your body's foundation so you can thrive long after you've stopped taking them.  This is a masterclass in cutting-edge, holistic health that you won't want to miss. Haar proefschrift ‘Birth Justice: From Obstetric Violence to Abolitionist Care' onderzoekt dit.
