Nate talks paddling with Zach Craft of Unadilla and Luke van der Veur of Cobleskill as they recap the 2026 AuSable River Canoe Marathon in Michigan. The New York duo steadily climbed through the field during the 120-mile journey from Grayling to Oscoda, finishing in 16 hours and 3 minutes while earning the honor of top rookie team. Zach and Luke were also one of only three boats to complete the second half of the course faster than the first. Nate had a front-row seat to their performance while serving on the feed crew for Jake Crotser and Gaston Jones, giving him a unique perspective on how the night unfolded. The conversation covers how both guests got into the sport, what inspired them to take on the AuSable, their preparation leading up to Michigan, and memories from this year's 70-miler. They also share what it was like competing in one of canoe racing's most challenging events and reflect on a memorable trip.

In this episode I share a conversation with the amazing Ashleigh van der Hoven. We talked about a chance encounter in LA and how we almost met… and how she avoided multiple cult-like situations in the spiritual community. It felt like such an important conversation to share! Ash's bio:Ash is a Cape Town-based subconscious coach, speaker, and founder of The Alchemized Spirit. She works with ambitious, driven women who are already doing the work but keep hitting invisible ceilings on their income and impact. Her approach is unlike anything in the personal development space. Ash combines subconscious rewiring, somatic work, and deep spiritual practice to target the root of what's actually blocking her clients: identity-level patterns like the inner critic, imposter syndrome, and chronic self-doubt.A self-proclaimed story alchemist, she helps women rewire the negative & false stories that women so often tell about themselves. As a result of this, they access their deepest level of self-trust, leadership & "joie de vivre" energy leading them to earn more, show up courageously, stop getting in their own way and have massive success breakthroughs. You can check out Ash's work here:https://www.instagram.com/alchemizedspirit/Xo BonnieP.S. Long before Little River was landing on lists of the coolest neighborhoods on earth, Matthew Vander Werff was quietly buying it, nearly 80 properties at a time when the rest of Miami was still fighting over Wynwood. This week the Founding Principal of MVW Partners joins us to trace the whole journey: an Iowa upbringing, a detour through the film and hospitality worlds, a Columbia real estate degree earned at the worst possible moment in 2007, and the decade of patient assemblage that turned a forgotten industrial pocket north of the Design District into the epicenter of Miami culture. We get into the mechanics of buying a neighborhood without tipping off the market, his hand-picked approach to tenants, the $79.9 million deal with AJ Capital, and why he stayed on to keep running the place after selling the majority. Plus the restaurant bets that keep paying off, from Sunny's Steakhouse to Ogawa, the 10-seat omakase that brought a Michelin star to Little River, and building it all in partnership with his wife and co-founder, Ashley Abess. We poured a bottle of Samuel Billaud Les Grands Terroirs 2023 for this one, a Chablis with the kind of restraint and sense of place Matthew has spent a decade building into a neighborhood. It did not survive the episode.Connect with usWant to dive deeper into Miami's commercial real estate scene?

Amanda Van Der Heiden could trot on a horse before she could walk. Her parents strapped her legs to the stirrups as a toddler. By age two, when she fell into the sandpit they trained in, they put her right back on before she was done crying. There was no discussion. You get back up. That was the whole lesson.Decades later, with two degrees in psychology and a career built across some of the largest organizations in the country, Amanda has hit the same wall more than once: working 20-hour days, running teams across continents, and eventually burning out so completely that when she left one company, they replaced her with three full-time employees. She saw it as a badge of honor. It took her years to recognize the pattern for what it actually was.On Episode 240 of Fine is a 4-Letter Word, Amanda talks with Lori Saitz about the horse farm childhood that built her resilience without a vocabulary for it, the psychology behind why executive presence is instantly recognizable even when it cannot be defined, the real difference between introversion and extroversion (it has nothing to do with how much you like people), and the framework she now uses to help leaders set their teams up to actually succeed instead of just survive. She also shares her redefinition of failure — you either win or you learn — and why she believes the fear of trying is almost always worse than whatever you were afraid of in the first place.Listen on all platforms:Search "Fine is a 4-Letter Word" on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your shows. Every harvest begins with unseen preparation. In this message, Pastor Nicky Van Der Westhuizen challenges believers to recognize when God has brought them into a shovel season—a time to prepare, obey, and build in faith before the visible breakthrough arrives. Through biblical insight and practical application, he reveals that God's greatest works are often preceded by seasons of faithful labor, perseverance, and expectation. Don't allow delay to convince you that nothing is happening. Continue preparing the ground, because the God who promised the harvest is faithful to bring it to pass.

Stage 17 of the 2026 Tour de France looked like a day for the sprinters on paper, but the 174.7km route from Chambéry to Voiron, featuring 2,200 metres of climbing, ensured nothing was ever going to come easy. Instead, it produced one of the most chaotic and entertaining stages of this year's Tour. The breakaway split apart time and time again as riders attacked from every direction. Jasper Stuyven looked to have timed a brilliant solo move to perfection, while Mads Pedersen emptied himself in pursuit of intermediate sprint points to strengthen his grip on the green jersey. With the race exploding behind, it looked as though the attackers might stay away. But Alpecin had other ideas. Emiel Verstrynge, Edward Planckaert and, above all, Mathieu van der Poel produced one of the finest team performances of the Tour. Van der Poel chased down every dangerous move in the closing kilometres before delivering a flawless lead-out, allowing Jasper Philipsen to finally deliver on the expectation that has followed him throughout this race. When he launched his sprint, nobody came close. The result keeps the green jersey battle alive. Pedersen extended his advantage at the intermediate sprint, but Philipsen's stage victory means the points classification is still far from settled heading into the final week. Ned Boulting and David Millar break down Stage 17 of the Tour de France 2026.
