Ikigai is a Japanese term that means "A Reason for Being". What is your reason for being? And how can you incorporate that into your personal brand? What do you bring to the world that is so uniquely you and creates your brand?Let's start by asking ourselves some important questions:1) What are you good at?This can be easy AND this can be hard. Think of what everybody else is constantly saying about you. Or even better, ASK the people who know you best what they think you are good at. Sometimes, what you are hardest on yourself about, you are actually pretty good at.2) What do you love? What is it that lights you up? Is it a hobby or a dream that you have? If I gifted you a whole day, all to yourself, what would you do?Now take a moment and look at your two lists. At the intersection of what you’re good at and what you love is your passion. Who doesn’t love discovering or reaffirming what they are passionate at? Can you circle or draw connections between things on your first list and things on your second? This is a good insight into what you are passionate about.3) What does the world need?I’m talking both big and small. This can be something on a global scale or a simple daily annoyance that needs attention. Maybe the world needs more laughter….it definitely needs more love and healing. What do YOU think the world needs?Just like there was an intersection between what you’re good at what you love, there is also an intersection between what you love and what the world needs. This is called your Mission. 4) What can you be paid for?You are creating a business and that means that you need to make money. The more money you make, the bigger impact you can have and the greater good you can bring to the world. What would someone pay good money to have? This is the question that every entrepreneur asks. The better you get at answering this question, the more likely you are to be successful. At the crossroads of this question, what can you be paid for and what you’re good at is your profession, and at the crossroads of what you can be paid for and what the world needs is your vocation. What if you were able to find something where all of these places overlapped? Where you could be good at what you’re doing, help the world, love the work you do and finally get paid for it? This is your Ikigai. This is your reason for being. This should be the center of everything for your personal brand. If you want to find success, this is the work that you need to do. Maybe you’ve looked over your lists and thought, Great! This is validation that I’m doing exactly what I want and need to do. Then good for you. Keep moving in the right direction. Keep aligning yourself that way. But maybe you looked at your lists and they are nothing like what you’re doing. This is what’s keeping you stuck. You may not feel like you are mission driven. Your WHY isn’t big enough to keep you going. Or perhaps you aren’t loving what you do. Maybe at one point you thought it was for you, but now it’s time to make a serious pivot. Because you only have one life and you don’t want to get yourself STUCK doing things that aren’t of great worth and joy. This is the time to write down and be innovative. Which part of this isn’t working for you in the way you want it to? Work it out. Come up with ideas. Be brutally honest with yourself. It may be the best thing that you can do for your life and business. To each of you out there, my hope is for you to find your ikigai. Head over to our FB Group and let me know what your Reason for being is.Purpose Driven Millennials
What is your why?Your why helps you plan your life, set goals, it keeps you motivated in life. When you know your why, it helps you stand up to naysayers, and negative influence. Knowing your why helps you create a healthy outlook on life.To Reign in purpose means to know what your purpose is and why it’s important. Why it’s meaningful. We were not created to merely exist. To let life happen and live aimlessly. If you don't know your why, you may often feel as though you are just plodding along the path of life; allowing it to happen. Instead of living passionately and courageously. For anyone that is attempting to achieve something or reach a goal it is much easier to accomplish - if you have a reason for it. Consider people who are trying to lose weight. Nothing seems to work or it’s not sustainable for them until they uncover the true reason for why they want to lose weight. Or why they overeat. Your WHY can be basic or as deep as it needs to be as long as it meaningful to you.DO YOU KNOW YOUR WHY? Have you identified it for the various areas of your life?Consider some core areas of your life: Relationship – Health – Fitness – Education – Career – Finances – Community – Family – Spirituality -Entertainment.Are you satisfied with these areas? Are they producing what you desire for your life? Are they life-giving – meaningful? Are you meeting your goals and reaping good fruit? Or is there an area that feels draining? Do you feel helpless or hopeless? Do you feel like something is missing? Look at the areas of your life and examine if they are healthy. If not ask yourself why they aren’t. Once you know your why, you decide whether is beneficial, healthy or meaningful. The best way to discover your why is to be honest with yourself. Sit down in a quiet place and truly think about what it is you want out of life. And identify your WHY.Welcome to the REIGN in Purpose Podcast. With actionable strategies, growth mindset, and insight - - this podcast is your secret weapon to not only live your best life but to live a blessed life.Consider Reign In Purpose a master-class in personal and professional development. It’s time to live your life on purpose in your purpose so that you can reign in purpose.Contact Lisa at: lisahook@purposebourn.comPurpose Bourn Coaching:https://www.purposebourn.com/Blog: https://www.purposebourn.com/blog-1 FOLLOW US: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lisa_hooks_Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LisaHooksLif...Twitter: https://twitter.com/purposebourn#lisahooks #businessmentor #lifecoach

There is a huge distinction between the things that we want and the one thing that we really really want. Todays Exercise: The 1 thing I really want is..... 1.) Ask yourself “what do I want?” Make a list of all the things you believe you want because you find yourself regularly giving energy to. 2.) Now, make a second list titled “I want this even more.” What is the one thing you really want more than anything? 3.) What are you going to have to stop doing to get what you really want? 4.) Your "WHY" is the driving force behind every action. It is so powerful, that millions of people spend their entire lives lives searching for it, failing to realize it was under their noses the entire time. Everything we do has a why. Said differently, everything we do has a purpose. The reason so many are unaware of this controlling force, is that they've been unconscious in choosing it. Something magical happens when we consciously choose our purpose. Instead of haphazardly moving through life, we become deliberate creators and as a result, more fulfilled.
In life, you are going to face hardships. In life, you are going to face trials. In life, you are going to face roadblocks. BUT it is up to you to decide what is your WHY! Your WHY will help you push through those tough times. Your WHY is going to keep you on track. Your WHY is going to give you a reason to keep going. “Your world is full of everyone else trying to be someone else. Just be you. Don't be afraid to magnify that piece of you that's uniquely you because it can take you to some incredibly extraordinary places.” -Jesse Brisendine We have another incredible guest this week: Jesse Brisendine, host of A Handful of Hope Podcast and creator of Zero Limits Coaching. Jesse helps his clients weave together success and fulfillment, and that’s what we’re going to talk about today. Maybe you still remember when you were in school analyzing The Great Gatsby or memorizing all the tricky math equations. After spending all those years, it’s funny how we barely remember anything at all. What’s not laughable is, how after graduation, we have to throw those concepts away and start learning how life works. Now, the hard work of unlearning some of the things we were programmed to believe and discovering who we are and what we want begins. In this episode, we learn how to avoid default drift patterns and empower ourselves. Jesse focuses on two things of which ironically, act as our superpower and archenemy at the same time: our thoughts and our emotions. While growing up, we learned that we must take control of our situation, which is mission impossible in itself (unless we are agent 007!). Rather than taking over the things we have little or no control over, Jesse shares how we can show accountability in the emotions resulting from those circumstances. He also talks about how we can extract a part of our pain and use it to create a picture of our vision and purpose in life. We want to live a meaningful life and be able to teach our children how to do the same. With that, you may be interested in Jesse’s advice on how to be an active observer and participant in your kid’s life. Your Why is your source of intrinsic motivation. If you know your Why, you can drum up that little bit of motivation that you need to get started. From there, it’s momentum, not motivation. Your Why is a list of reasons that resonate with you as to why you’re doing something. “Nothing gives a person inner wholeness and peace like a distinct understanding of where they are going.” – Thomas Oppong So let me ask you; "What is Your Why?" This is a legitimate question to ask yourself, and in this video, I will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to find your “why” in life. I hope that these tips can clarify your purpose, and by doing so benefit your life.

Hey friends, It's the 20th episode of this podcast and I am excited to share a little bit of my "why' I started it. My name is Deana and in this episode I share a little bit about me and explain my why to you. I started this podcast to bridge the connections and share the correlations between raising our babies all while raising a beauty business. No matter the ages or stages we all have similarities and differences. None the less, there is something we can all learn from and be inspired by from each other. As I traveled and attended seminars, summits, conferences, and classes, and the more I connected with other moms in the beauty industry, the more I realized this platform was needed. We are all amazing women doing amazing things in this world and we rarely celebrate it or share our trials and tribulations on getting here. So it is my honor to be doing this. I love showcasing mama's in the beauty industry and letting them share their how and why! So sit back and enjoy this short episode!Connect on Instagram:@mamaknowsbeautybizpodcast

You define yourself by who you are, not what you do. In today's episode, I dive back into your WHY and it's importance! Following my last episode on understand your WHY (linked here), so many of you asked if I could do round two on this and try to unravel how we can even begin to define our WHY. Although I can't give you step by step on how to define your WHY, I do walk you through things that your WHY should embody, which will allow you to get thinking about your WHY. I also dive into a little something called "Ikigai" (e-key-guy). Yeah, it sounds crazy, but its an amazing concept used in Japanese culture that dates back hundreds of years... And has a lot to do with your WHY. Remember, your WHY is personal. It is not a marketing pitch. Your WHY is going to evolve, change, and transform with the different phases of your life. Once you have a better understanding of this concept, you will be able to truly find fulfillment and happiness in everything that you do. - TED Talk on Ikigai: https://www.ted.com/talks/tim_tamashiro_how_to_ikigai/up-next Simon Sinek, Find Your WHY: https://simonsinek.com/find-your-why/?ref=mainNav - The Purpose Project Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thepurposeprojectpod/ Dear Emily... I often have people ask me questions about how long it will take…to lose weight, to learn to handstand, to reach a business goal. What I have found is this really isn’t the correct question. How long will it take should be shifted to what will it take! When you have a strong why for going where you want to go you are not as concerned about how long it will take and you are more concerned with what you can do to make it happen! I am really excited to hear what you think about this episode! Stay in touch on Instagram @naturalwellnesstips Ready to connect and learn more about living your healthiest, happiest life? This was a breakthrough week for the Big Picture of what I'm doing. I have business SMART goals that I set for my solo cleaning business on 1/1/20. I share this mindset in my goal-setting series (What is Your Why, Why Set Goals, Make Your Goals SMART, The Accountability Roadmap, and Kill Parkinson). The lessons and reminders from this week in business forced my hand to create a 6th installment to this series. As many of my podcast listeners know, I have other streams of income. I run the SMART Cleaning Tribe for team cleaners. I host this podcast and the connected Solo Cleaning School Elite Membership for my students to learn my ISO Model to hit their goals. I am also at the beginner stage to consulting large cleaning companies with employees that would like to scale with optimized solo cleaners or Solo Teams. I'm also a published author of an interactive book for fathers to read to their kids called "Arctic Land". In past years, I have struggled with holding it all together and being productive with multiple irons in the fire. This year is different. I have figured out a way to prioritize and follow through. I call it reverse engineering your dreams and I hope this podcast will help you find a similar system that works for you! I knew (prior to COVID) that this year needed to be our breakthrough year. We needed to build a new solo cleaning business to become an optimized part-time 6-figure income. There were multiple reasons for this:To teach our kids the "family trade" by working with dad, earning income, saving, giving, spending, and investing. To show YOU (the listeners) that my ISO Model works by building and optimizing a second solo cleaning business to the same level as my first in a fraction of the time.To earn a main income source in the schedule I was willing to clean that would provide everything our family needed too thrive in 2020 & beyond, not relying on any online income. Thus, I set the SMART goals on 1/1/20 to add $10,000 of new annual & recurring cleaning revenue every 60 days. This seemed like a tall order, but I believed it was A-chievable (the "A" in SMART Goal). I added 3 new houses in January & February to hit my first SMART goal for 2/29/20. March and April were very difficult with COVID-19, but I plugged away at my #1 goal for 2020 and upgraded a veterinary hospital by doubling the monthly service fee to hit my 4/30/20 SMART goal. We added 2 offices and a house to not only hit our 6/30/20 SMART goal, but we doubled the goal! The year is halfway over and we've hit 3 out of 3 goals. We have accomplished this through COVID, the loss of my Nana, near loss of my mom from COVID, and the emotional toll of helping my autistic uncle. How is this possible? We've been focused and having a #1 priority all year has allowed me to tend to other things. I have NOT been distracted. This level of FOCUS is necessary. And FOCUS stands for Follow One Course Until Success.Read the rest of this article at the Solo Cleaning School website
Welcome to another episode of The Online Marketing PRO Show. This week Kate from San Diego, California emailed us asking if we could help her and her team with establishing a strong WHY. Here at OMP Ali and Thomas believe the first thing you need to do when you start your business is figure out the true reason why you need to make this work. Why do you deserve this income? Why do you want to become successful? We call this your "Why". The reason it's important to discover your "Why" is because this business can be hard at times. Having a strong "Why" will help you get through the struggle and lead you to success. The larger the "Why" is the easier the "How" is. Your "Why" should not just be for money or cars; it should be larger than that. Many young people are doing this to be able to retire their parents and several already have. Others want to establish time freedom for the rest of their lives so they never have to work a job again. Having powerful "Why's" such as these will allow you to have the strength that is needed to achieve success in any business you do! Follow us @onlinemarketingpro.co @aliinspires.co @thomascarver.co

Write things DOWN to remember your WHY and how to get there Be proactive – Just don’t say it, DO IT! Remember don’t be a collector of ideas, be an executor of them. Practice Gratitude – In these uncertain times, I know it’s hard to see the bright side of things but there always are and you have MUCH to be grateful for. The Super Important Business WHY Do you ever feel unmotivated in your business? Ever want to just give up because you’re hustling so hard? That can all be fixed with one thing- nailing down your WHY. Let’s talk about nailing down your business why. If this is a topic that makes you feel anxious, or if you just have no idea who your ideal client is or why exactly you want to chase this career, then this episode is for you. Since we’re at the beginning of the podcast, I wanted to start with advice for the beginning of your business. Now don’t be fooled. This topic is one that can be addressed MANY times throughout your business journey as your brand and mission evolves. You’ve probably heard people say that you need to know your business WHY. You need to know WHY you’re in this specific business and trying to make a space for yourself in this competitive world. Now if you’re anything like me, I used to DREAD this topic. I always knew I wanted to go into business but it was so hard for me to answer why? Uhhh “to make more money I guess?” “ to have more time?” I mean, it sounded generic and I had no idea how to figure out why I wanted this so badly. I just knew I wanted it. Your WHY is what motivates you to be in your specific niche. You might see businesses post on their website “We’re wedding photographers because we believe in the sanctity of marriage.” Or health experts saying “We’re here to serve you because we believe a healthy life is a happy life.” People want to know why they should choose you as the expert and the best way for them to figure it out, is to know why you’re there in the first place. Today, we’re going to talk about why it is you do what you do. Now I know that the best of the best out there talk about their why’s with such passion, clarity, and conviction, that it can seem intimidating. It honestly did for me! But in reality, most people really don’t know why they do what they do or they know their WHY on a surface level. Today we’re going to go from a surface level WHY, from thoughts on why you want to successful- to anchoring it in our heart with feelings and emotions. When you do that - there’s no stopping you. Have you ever been around kids, and notice how they always ask, “WHY?” Even from young ages, we instinctively understand that having a WHY or a motive behind an action is the most important piece of any story. It creates validation. As a business, knowing your why will help with two crucial things Stay committed Getting others on board with your business We’re going to go through both of those points today. Simon Sinek said “People don’t buy what you do or how you do it, they buy WHY you do it.” I’m going to be honest, I always struggled with my WHY. I heard COUNTLESS successful entrepreneurs mention it on all sorts of blogs, podcasts, and in courses. But I felt like I didn’t know WHY I wanted to start my business, I just knew that I wanted to. Then I invest in a business course with Dean Graziosi. In the course, they provided me with the perfect tool to uncover my WHY and I want to share it with you because it was so powerful for me and my business. This specific exercise is going to help you to find your business WHY that will keep you committed. But here’s the thing- You really have to sit down, and take the time. When you do- I promise you you’re going to discover the fuel you’ll need to keep moving that business forward- no matter what happens. I want to stress one point before I walk through it with you. Not having a true, strong WHY is one of the biggest reasons why people fail in the business world. Really let that sink in. Lacking in your WHY, means you’re lacking clarity in your business. Your WHY, is completely tied in with your mission. If you don’t have a strong mission- what do you have? Your WHY is so much deeper than what you think. If your WHY is “to make more money,” that’s great, but that’s not going to keep you committed when things get tough- which they will. Having a clear WHY, or purpose, or mission, is on its way to becoming the number one thing that will set your business apart from the rest. Businesses with a strong defined purpose have better customer engagement, connect deeper with customers, and fuel their bottom line. It’s crucial to the success of your business. Now let’s dive in. This exercise is called 7 Levels Deep. I can tell you this method is tried and true! Since working through the 7 levels, my why has never been more clear and my drive to push through and continue the work I’m doing has never been stronger! The first question is this: Why is it important for you to become successful? I want you to write down your answer, or if you can’t write it down, think about it and say it out loud if possible! WHY is it important? When you have your answer- we’re going to turn it into the next question! So when I did this exercise, I answered by saying “It’s important for me to become successful so that I can create a community and scale my business.” Question number two would then be “Why is it important for you to create a community and scale your business?” Do you see what I did there? I took the answer from the first question, and turned it into the second question. This whole exercise is asking why you wanted your previous answer and why it’s important to you. You’re going to do this 7 times! Yes. 7. That’s why it’s called 7 levels deep. It is the magic number. I’m going to be honest- this gets hard and you’re going to have to dig really deep. The point of the process is the more you ask why from the previous answer, the more you’ll get out of your head and get more into your heart. Digging deep is going to be how you find out your real WHY which will fuel you through any problem you’re going to face. When you’re having a bad day- you’re not going to be thinking of your surface WHY like “i want to create a community and scale my business” -that’s not enough to drive you on a bad day. It’s not enough to get you out of bed when you’re not feeling the best. What will get you out of bed, what will help you break through the barriers, what will allow you to never stop, is knowing your final 3 in the 7 levels deep. When I learned this exercise in my business class from Dean Graziosi, he talked about how he cried his first time completing the exercise. Like I said, you really have to dig deep and get to the core of who you are. You might even have to work through childhood experiences to understand why you want this better or different life now. Again, it’s personal, and It’s definitely for you. However, if it works with your brand, don’t be afraid to share it! The WHY you figured out from going 7 levels deep, is the why that is going to help you stay committed. I can’t tell you how many people I know who started a business, but gave up as soon as the waters got a little deep. Want to know why? Because they didn’t have a strong why. They didn’t have a strong enough reason to push through when the going got tough. You can find the worksheet for the 7 Levels Deep exercise here. Now I want to dive into another aspect of knowing your WHY, because we also want to find out why you’ve decided on a certain niche, because this is what’s going to help get your ideal clients on board with your business. So in the beginning of this episode, we talked about how knowing your why will help with two crucial things Staying committed- and we talked about this with the 7 level deep exercise. Those deep, core reasons will be what keeps you moving forward when the going gets tough. Getting others on board with your business- which we’re going to talk about now. Do you ever feel like people don’t take your business seriously? Maybe even your closest network like family and friends views it as more of a “hobby” then as a career. Maybe more than your closest network, you don’t feel like your following takes you seriously. This is where knowing your business WHY can help you. Let’s talk about your passions. There are so many businesses out there right? It’s honestly amazing how we can turn a passion into something that helps us keep the lights on, but what people want to know is why you started that business. Why is that niche your passion. With so many businesses out there, customers want to feel like they’re supporting a cause, not just buying a product. Make sure your following knows that you love what you do. When they know that, and they see how much you love what you do, they’ll be more confident that you have the best product or offer the best service, and they’ll want to support your enthusiasm with their business. So why are you in your niche? This ties in with finding your story. What happened in your life that made you passionate about what your business is? Mine was my grandmother and upbringing, maybe yours was how you went to the library for a free jelery making class and it was so fun it hooked you! You loved expressing yourself through your art, and it made you feel XYZ. Write down WHY your niche is your passion. Figure out why you started on this specific path, and share the heck out of it. Tell people your story. Tell them why you’re not only in business, but why they should work with you over someone else. Sharing your story will help your ideal clients relate with you and will help create that relationship all business owners need to create that know-like-trust factor. The key to harnessing passion is understanding your why. Why did you become a fitness coach? Was it because you lost 50lb and learned how a healthy lifestyle correlated to a happy life? Then that’s your why and that’s the story you need to share the heck out of with your clients. To wrap it up let’s go over three action items we can do today to move the needle forward: Action step #1: Complete the 7 levels deep exercise. ACTUALLY WRITE IT DOWN! Don’t skip this friends- you’re only cheating yourself. And for the sake of transparency, I want to share this took me a long time to fill out. So don’t be afraid to start and come back to it if you have to! Action Step #2: Write down the story of how you got into your niche and why it’s your passion. Action Step #3: Share the story you wrote down from action step number two on social media with a picture of you where people can actually see your face. Use this to start building genuine connections. CODES: 50% OFF HONEYBOOK: www.mollykrajewski.com/honeybook

This is episode #63 with Hans Appel, who has been a school counselor from Richland SD, WA for the past 19 years and is the author of the NEW book, Award Winning Culture: Building School-Wide Intentionality Through Character, Excellence and Community[i] that you can find RIGHT NOW on Amazon. My husband has worked closely with this District when he was a Regional VP of Sales with Scholastic and he agrees that they go above and beyond with everything they do, and it’s not surprising to hear that they emerged as International Thought Leaders over there but there’s much more to this story than meets the eye. I look forward to sharing Hans’ background and story for those who would like to replicate Award Winning Culture in their school, workplace or organization. Click here to watch the YouTube interview. Welcome back to the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning podcast, my name is Andrea Samadi, I’m a former educator who created this podcast to bring the most current neuroscience research, along with high performing experts who have risen to the top of their field with specific strategies or ideas that you can implement immediately, whether you are a teacher in the classroom, a parent trying to figure out homeschooling and working from home, or someone working in the corporate world, to take your results to the next level. Today we are speaking with Hans Appel, has worked as a counselor in the Richland School District for the past 19 years at Enterprise Middle School since it opened. He’s passionate about school culture, servant leadership, and kindness. In 2018, EMS was awarded the ASCD Whole Child Award for the State of Washington and the Global “Class Act Award” for creating a culture of excellence through kindness, service, and empathy. Additionally, the were selected as a finalist in the 2019 PBIS Film Festival and took top prize in the Community, Parents, and Staff category. When I first spoke with Hans, just last week, to learn more about his background and new book, his humble nature came through. It wasn’t until last night, when I started to read his book “Award Winning Culture” that just became available last Friday, that I got to know and truly understand where Hans’ passion for building school-wide culture emerged from. I could go on with Hans’ bio, but will include more details in the show notes, and urge you to read his book yourself, and his website[ii] where you can learn more about Hans’s story, and about his wife Jen, who is an educator at Enterprise MS. Welcome Hans!Q1: Hans, when we were speaking last week, you were telling me how all of this started but we didn’t speak at all about your personal story that you share in the beginning of your book. For anyone looking to understand how change takes place, I do highly suggest reading this book to get a deeper understanding with someone who has grown up firsthand with ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences). Before we get to the questions, can you share how you used your difficult upbringing to fuel your passion for change within your local school District?Q2: Can you explain how this all began at Enterprise Middle School that caused you to write your book, Award Winning Culture and create the framework around what you did to cause such an international interest?Q3: Hans, I’m familiar with how important it is to infuse SEL skills into a school, home and emotional intelligence training in our workplaces, with what we’ve been doing here, but many schools or workplaces are not sure how to begin, where to even get started with a program. Can you give some ideas of where someone can start to implement award winning culture within their school or organization to reap the benefits that will follow with a program like yours?Q4: Imagine a school or an organization that has not yet implemented a program, and they are well aware that change needs to occur. The part in your book about the reporter crying when she “felt” the energy of your school and asked “why aren’t all schools like yours?” made me think of the fact that I have walked into thousands of schools in the US/Canada over my 20 year career working with schools and that reporter was right. When you see or get that “feeling” that’s hard to explain, but it’s there…usually right when you walk in the front doors (sometimes it can be felt before you walk in) but it’s hard to forget a school like this. What’s involved in changing a school or organization from where they are now, and get them to where they want to be to experience what we know can be felt? I’m sure this change takes time, so what is the process?Q5: Most of us by now are aware of Simon Sinek’s book or TED TALK “Starts with Why” where an organization must have a clear understanding of their “why” before they can make a larger impact with their goals. Once they know WHY they are there, the HOW and WHAT they do becomes simple. What is YOUR “Why” and how do you identify, and tie in a school’s purpose (the foundation) and ensure that all stakeholders are on board with this purpose for existing? Q6: Is there anything that’s important to mention that you think we have missed? Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us and share your powerful story of creating Award Winning Culture in a school or workplace. Your story could have gone 2 ways as we are all well aware of the effects of ACES on a child’s future, but you used your experience to fuel for something that has, I think only just begun for you. I want to recognize you for doing the work to get to where you are today, (because I know work was involved) and thank you for the impact you are having not just locally in your state, but across the country and internationally. If someone wants to reach you directly, I will put all of the links in show notes and be sure to find the book, Award Winning Culture on Amazon and contact you to learn more about your programs and services for implementing Award Winning Culture. "When it comes to personal development, 'Why?' is both the question and the answer." WHY challenge yourself? Why get involved in personal development? Why read 'self-help' books? Why try to improve? Why run a marathon or try to write a book? Only you can know your personal motive. Understanding what drives your behavior helps you produce personal power— self-efficacy— the ability to create a desired result. Knowing your motives is a prerequisite to prove to yourself that you can control and improve yourself! Your motive, your why, reinforces self-efficacy which builds momentum. Your WHY gives you courage and confidence to push yourself further and go after bigger challenges. Your why makes you bigger than your problems. This is WHY. Leah Chowdhry ‘He who says he can and he who says he can’t are both usually right’ - Confucius Founder and CEO of an award-winning childcare company, ‘Pop Up, Party & Play’. Leah's comapany provides mobile childcare and in doing so help to make childcare more accessible. They also offer children a safe, stimulating and exciting environment so they have as much fun as their parents can work or enjoy their corporate conference. You can see Pop Up, Party & Play popping at workspaces, members’ clubs, corporate events and special events. Leah completed the gruelling 30-mile English Channel swim in 13 degrees water in just under 15 hours on July 4th, 2018, becoming one of the first young British Asian women to achieve the amazing feat. A national-level swimmer when she was younger, Leah started training to swim in the English Channel in early 2017. Also speaking about the preparation, Leah said she had to put on weight because the biggest risk of swimming the English Channel was dying of hyperthermia. On her first trip to India aged just 7, Leah couldn’t bear to see the way children were suffering. It was especially difficult as some were even the same age as her. These children don’t get a say in their lives. It was at that moment Leah decided that she needed to make a difference. She started small, giving up fizzy drinks and sweets, but still she managed to raise £1,000 by going out and voicing her concern. Since then, Leah has been constantly involved in charity work. Her determination to help children, particularly vulnerable children, only grows. Leah, along with The British Asian Trust, aimed to raise funds for a project run by The British Asian Trust, and she managed to raise over £50,000 with help from family and friends. Both parties are working in the red light districts of Mumbai to protect children vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking. The organisation runs three night care centres for such children who are at risk, as well as shelter homes and a residential training centre for the rescued girls. Although it can be useful to seek counsel from others, remind yourself that they don't necessarily know what is best for you. Take their advice into consideration, if they're more experienced than you are. In the end, your heart knows best. You lived your life and fully experienced it, making you the best person to decide what to do next. When it comes to life decisions which involve a lot of feeling and heart, like relationships, only you know what's in your heart. Trust that you have all the knowledge and experience you need to make the decision that's right for you. Stay True to Yourself To be true to yourself takes courage. It requires you to be introspective, sincere, open-minded and fair. It does not mean that you are inconsiderate or disrespectful of others. It means that you will not let others define you or make decisions for you that you should make for yourself. Be true to the very best that is in you and live your life consistent with your highest values and aspirations. Those who are most successful in life have dared to creatively express themselves and in turn, broaden the experiences and perspectives of everyone else. Knowing your Why Your Why is a list of reasons that resonate with you as to why you’re doing something. Finding your “why” is important not only for success in your professional and personal life, but also for your well-being and longevity. You need to look within, discover the things that you are passionate about, and pursue them—regardless of other people’s doubts or the setbacks you’ll meet. Your own purpose will point the way to your success. Your Why is your source of intrinsic motivation. If you know your Why, you can drum up that little bit of motivation that you need to get started. From there, it’s momentum, not motivation. Finding your Why will help you to eventually build self-discipline Subscribe! If you enjoyed the podcast please subscribe and rate it. Today’s episode is about getting above the problem and plan. So you can go to the next level. If you desire abundant growth and creation, then you’re going to have to get to a much higher level of thinking, believing, desiring, trusting, and behaving. THIS is abundance. Where do you start? Start with… 1. Your WHY. What’s the reason you’re doing what you’re doing? Either there’s a problem needing a solution, or a need being fulfilled. What is it for you? 2. Your WHAT. What’s your VISION? Do you have a bird’s eye? 3. Your How. Does your how make sense? It will present itself once you see the WHY in your heart, the WHAT with your eyes (VISION), and then strategize with your brain. That's when you can begin to formulate a plan of execution. Don’t start with your HOW. Go deep within your soul. From your desire, you go must go HIGH and stay HIGH. That’s why abundance elevates to its level. Stop waiting in your now, because you don't know how. Please grab your SACRED S.O.L. D.A.T.E. JOURNAL (Daily Action To Engage with yourself.) TODAY'S S.O.L. STEP: 1. Write down something that you desire to do, but don't yet know exactly how to do it. 2. Write down these 3 words, and what your heart is telling you. WHY WHAT HOW 3. Your HOW may require you ASKING someone to help you. 4. Go to diycoachingguides.com and request some Daily Healing Life Coaching sent directly to your inbox each day. In last week's episode, I spoke about what it is you want to create. In this week's episode, I speak about your WHY. Your WHY is incredibly important because if it's not compelling enough, than when you begin to step out onto your journey towards living deliberately, your lower mind will very likely hold you back, rather than support you in moving forward. In this episode, I share with you about what I want to create during the Corona virus pandemic and what my WHY is. Tune in to today's episode and share what yours is. www.shiragura.com https://www.facebook.com/shiragura/
I was asked the question this week: “If you’re not all in, does it mean you shouldn’t be doing it?” This is what I say… A lot of times “should” shows up as a future excuse. It also says, “I’m interested, but not committed.” OR… “I’m doing this for other reasons besides my true heart’s desire.” It’s like saying that ALL IN happens by chance, divine intervention, or destiny. But… YOU get to decide what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. So, my answer includes a few questions... A: Why are you “shoulding” on yourself? B: Have you ever considered that maybe “ALL IN” didn’t necessarily come as a result of the circumstances, but instead, “ALL IN” CREATES the circumstances. C: What does ALL IN look like, really…and what are you ALL IN to? D. Why are you doing IT if you’re NOT ALL IN? Can you relate to this? If so, then... Ask yourself: Is it about circumstance or commitment? If you’re waiting for circumstance to give you power for your commitment, you’re not going to find it. Why? Because, your commitment creates your circumstances. Got it? In order to be ALL IN to anything, you must... -Know your WHY. Why are you doing what you’re doing? Your WHY must be bigger than your WHY NOT. FEAR can also play a role in keeping you from doing what you say you desire to do. - Stay connected to your BIG WHY. -Identify your FEAR, which can become your big WHY NOT. - Be honest with yourself and others. Is your commitment based on a decision, or is your decision based on a commitment? Decisions based on the commitments to your BIG WHY are the ones that are ALL IN. What is your heart crying out? What is it saying to you? What is it (are you) yearning for? - Stop saying you’re ALL IN to what you’re NOT ALL IN to… - Stop saying you “should be”… - Simply focus in on what your heart is leading and guiding you to. AND… - Follow it. Follow it ALL IN to wherever it’s leading you. This is a DISCOVERY. It's an ADVENTURE in discovery. There’s nothing greater than being ALL IN! I’M GOING IN. I AM in. ARE YOU? Please grab your SACRED S.O.L. D.A.T.E. JOURNAL (Daily Action To Engage yourself.) TODAY’S SACRED S.O.L. STEP: Take a look at your life right now — at anything that you keep saying you want to do…or "I’m gonna do that"…but for whatever reason, you’re NOT ALL IN. Begin to write in your journal about it. Allow your heart to show and tell you. To lead you into truth about why you’re not doing it. And more importantly, WHAT you really desire to do…and WHY. Hey, are you willing and — right here and now — to go ALL IN? Make that commitment today, my dear. I promise you. You’ll have the adventure of a lifetime. Thank you for being here, and allowing me to Sip On Life with you. I’m going to be inviting listeners onto the program. HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to the weekly podcast, No More Excuses! Thank you for being here, listening and sharing this podcast with others. I'm assuming you're sharing... how else are people finding me? Besides me being TOTALLY BADASS! Yes, last week's podcast was about remembering or figuring out your WHY. Your purpose. Whether it's being in the industry you're in, leading the business you lead, or even own the business you own. WHY? This week I continue down Simon Sinek's path from his book, "Start with WHY". The next step is really understanding the "HOW"... aka the PROCESS. The actions you taken to realize your WHY! In the book, Sinek says, "People buy because of your WHY". Yes, there are people who disagree, and that may be you. You may look at two products or talk with two [or more] different people in the same industry and not have a CLUE what their "WHY" is, but you'll buy because.... and that "because" may be financial. But think about it. And, again, think about YOUR WHY. And this week, listen in as I share MY "how" I do what I do. If you can't figure out your HOW, let alone your WHY, for the LOVE of all that is GOOD and EVIL... email me. STOP thinking you have to be failing to need a coach or that you don't want to admit you need help! Yes... that's why I've been doing this shit for years! FOR YOU! So let's. Friggn. do. this! Cheers! Sandi

There is much to learn from other people's stories, if we take the time to stop and listen. Storytelling can be incredibly powerful and help us to find meaning, build connections and drive change. My guest this week, Brittany Elmslie has a story that's both extraordinary and extremely relatable.Brit has achieved more than your average 25 year old - she has reached the pinnacle of international sport, winning 2 Olympic gold medals. As the youngest person on the Australian Olympic team in 2012, Brittany's strength, drive and determination got her to the podium. But there was a cost to her success and a challenging journey behind those medals. In episode 179 of Be The Drop, Brit reflects on the personal shame she felt during her Olympic career and how she overcame it by learning self-compassion. She discusses her retirement from sport in 2019 and the process she went through to discover her new "why", this is a must-listen for anyone going through a time of transition.----Are you considering starting a podcast? I'm calling an audible to my original plan. We started this now 5-part series with Goal Setting I "What is Your Why" and talked about the most important aspect of goal-setting. It's your reason for getting up and doing what you do. The "5 Why's" exercise is an effective way to peel back the layers of your reasons to get to the core of what makes you tick. We are not robots, but emotional creatures. Mike Michalowicz, in his epic book "Profit First", shares why rational accounting doesn't work. He uses an example of plate sizes. Do you know that the average size has grown from 9" to 13" in diameter. That's DOUBLE! Over the same time period, the average American male's weight increased from 160 lbs to 190 lbs! Why? Mike goes to say that humans consume everything they are given. It's human behavior. They also use every available amount of time to finish a project and every dollar to fill their budgets. This is why Americans don't have 'extra' savings on hand or 'spare' time or 'uneaten' calories. There is a name for this. It's called Parkinson's Law.Parkinson's Law states that "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion." We have to fight against this human behavior to win and learn how to Kill Parkinson! Our SMART goals are subject to Parkinson's Law too. If you set a SMART goal with a 'T' of 3 months, you will either miss the goal or make it just in time even if you could have done it faster. This is human behavior. I want to encourage you to set goals so that you can complete them in the beginning and get the wins. However, you need to get more aggressive as you progress. I'm going to use this example. I interviewed my friend Courtney Wisely of Rescue My Maid Service on a FB Live to help her set a SMART goal. She wanted to complete a technology course for cleaning service owners to help them be more productive and automated. I asked her if she could get it done by December (12 months away). Her answer was "Heck, yeah!" Then I asked if she could have it done this month. She said, "Heck, no!" I asked about June, which was 6 months away. "Um... yes." She wasn't as confident, but knew she could. Then I said April or 4 months away. She was very uncomfortable, but believed it was possible. I encouraged her to set her SMART goal for April. Here's the psychology behind this and it looks at the 'A' in SMART or 'Attainable'. I pressed Courtney and discovered she could achieve this massive goal in 4 months. However if she set the goal like most people for 12 months, Parkinson's Law would kick in and she'd allow the work to expand to fit the time. That would waste 8 months of potential goals or create a huge Opportunity Cost. Courtney won't do this. She will set the goal for 4 months and kill it this year. Just keep in mind that Courtney is a hyper-focused goal-achiever. We're not all there. So start where you are. The 'A' in the SMART goal has to be defined by YOU depending on where you are in your goal-setting journey. What's barely attainable now will be a joke in a year, so you cannot continue to set the same goals. The reason I added a 5th part to this Goal-Setting series was to show that human behavior drives your completion of goals. You need to have an emotional 'Why' which determines the 'R' in your SMART goal. You need behavioral 'A' in your SMART goal to kill Parkinson. And you need an accountability partner to ride with you along the journey to point out when you are veering off the path or taking too long to get something done. Face it. Goal-setting is 80% emotional and 20% rational.
