Suffering from early career burnout? This is something that many overworked SLPs are suffering from, and private practice may be the answer. In this episode of Private Practice Success Stories, Laura and Adrianne share how they started their private practices after overcoming burnout. They both share where they get their referrals from, what types of clients they see, and whether they are generalists or specializing in certain populations. If you've been thinking about starting a private practice and want to see how other folks are doing it, this episode is for you! Laura and Adrianne are the hosts of The SLP Book Club podcast. Each month, they carefully select amazing books that speech therapists might not have the time to read and discuss them on their podcast chapter by chapter. They create and post free resources to accompany the books, allowing SLPs to immediately use the information they've learned with their caseloads.Laura began her career in public schools, working as a contracted employee in a very large school district for six years. Outrageously high caseload numbers and unrealistic expectations led to complete burnout in her fourth year. A switch to part-time proved to be more manageable, but she ultimately decided to open her private practice in 2021 after discovering the Start Your Private Practice course. Her private practice, Springboard Speech Therapy, provides support to preschoolers who stutter and their families in the Los Angeles area. In addition to seeing clients in their homes, Laura creates digital and printable materials for other speech therapists in her TPT store, Laura G SLP.Adrianne has spent much of her career working in public schools with grades K-12. She enjoys helping children as both an in-person therapist and a teletherapist. In 2021 she opened her private speech therapy practice, Say Hello Speech Therapy, in Orange County, California. She has a special interest in articulation/speech sound disorders and is extensively trained in UCLA's PEERS program for both teens and young adults. She is especially enthusiastic about empowering parents to be the best advocates and speech coaches possible for their children. Adrianne currently balances motherhood, working full-time as a teletherapist, hosting a podcast, and seeing private practice clients. In Today's Episode, We Discuss:How the Start program helped Adrianne and Laura start the private practices they dreamed ofHow specializing helps clients come to youThe job satisfaction private practice can bringHow empowering it can be to own your own private practiceThe power of parent coaching and home connection Running your private practice from home and setting your caseload sizesThe freedom you get as a private practice ownerThe truth about burnout among SLPsHow Laura and Adrianne are finding their clientsI hope you enjoyed this episode with Laura and Adrianne! Private practice is all about taking back that control. They didn't switch careers. They just switched to a new job setting- their own, where they are the boss. The Enneagram is a system that applies to individuals of all races and ethnicities. However, it's important to note that the Enneagram, like any personality typing system, can be influenced by a variety of factors, including cultural and social conditioning. Individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds will probably have different experiences and perspectives that can affect how they interpret and apply the Enneagram - and how they "show up" as that type. It may not look like the stereotypical behaviors we see shared on social media.  Certain Enneagram types may be more common or valued in certain cultural contexts - like those in Asian cultures valuing both being perfect (Type 1) and being successful (Type 3). And so, it's  important to approach the Enneagram with sensitivity and awareness of these potential cultural and social influences, and to recognize that individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds may have different experiences and perspectives on the Enneagram. In this interview, life empowerment coach and Enneagram guide, Jessica Denise Dickson provides more insight and context into using the Enneagram to actually do the work and grow, both as an individual and in our understanding of others. Listen in to hear more about:What mistakes to avoid in the typing process  Jessica's own typing journey that includes taking 20+ quizzes and tests How your culture, family systems, religion, and social expectations also impact how you "show up" as your Enneagram type The cons of using the TriType theoryHow growth may look different for the same Enneagram types and vary based on gender and race How to start on your growth path regardless if you know your type or notHow the Enneagram and Anti-Racism work expand us How your type may have helped you stay in privilege and bypass and what is there to let go ofWhat embodiment actually means and all the things it's made up ofHow to use the Enneagram in the workplace as a manager or leader Learn more about Jessica and the work she does: https://jessicaddickson.com/Check out her Life on Vulnerability group:https://jessicaddickson.com/LOVConnect with and say hello to Jessica on Instagram:instagram.com/jessicaddicksoncoachingListen to Jessica's Podcast, The Antiracism Enneagram Podcast:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antiracist-enneagram/episodes/Introduction-Episode-e1p506mJessica's Book Recommendations: Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: https://amzn.to/40PrIm8The Enneagram for Black Liberation: https://amzn.to/3nGS4s6******Work with Sarah and Enneagram MBA:Entertain and inform at your next company event:https://www.enneagrammba.com/enneagram-speakerHost a company or team workshop:https://www.enneagrammba.com/enneagram-team-workshopsBecome a certified Enneagram coach and join one of Jessica's groups inside Enneagram University thru the Enneagram MBA affiliate program:https://www.theenneagramuniversity.com/?ref=85c903

This week's episode dives into a modality that I've always been super curious about – EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) - also known as Tapping. EFT is a treatment that involves tapping on certain meridian points and repeating statements from the certified professional guiding you through the session. It's a beautiful synergy between the mystical, heartfelt healing modes and the scientifically proven nerve calming methods. Science + Mystical = YES! Lauren came to tapping as many of us get to our healing, through our own drive to heal and grow. Our journey tends to lead us to exactly the right places, and Lauren shares how she got there and so much more. On the show we discuss: Listening to your body's signalsHow bad feelings are your body's way of communicating messagesWhy awakenings can be your invitation to explore and growTesting and learning various modalities and how they can lead you to what works for youRealizing that when we are upset, these are often triggers and the underlying problem may be a deeper issue that is asking to be healedSometimes what needs healing is something you aren't even cognitively aware ofHow through EFT, subconscious thoughts can be brought to the surface allowing for healingHow acupressure/acupuncture relate to EFTWhat meridians are and how they relate to the energy in our bodiesHow EFT allows us to actually feel our feelings – even the hard ones and why it's a good thingThe science behind tapping and how the amygdala is calmed when tapping, reducing cortisone levels, how it regulates the nervous system How tapping can help kidsHow you can tap discreetly to calm yourself in a public situationHow tapping can create overall wellbeing as well as solve specific problemsHow tapping can dig into physical pain and identify the source of the painListen while we have our own tapping session for anxiety and stressWhy you shouldn't worry if your stress goes up when you first start tapping Obvi we cover a LOT! Loved learning about this and have started integrating tapping through Lauren's amazing videos into my own wellness routine. It's all about finding what resonates with you - and I encourage you to give this a go if you've been struggling with anxiety, trauma recovery or just want to feel calm and centered. Welcome back to the End Hype podcast.  In episode 112 Callye Keen welcomes back Julie Traxler, co-founder of SB PACE to dispel the myths around followers.  There is a misconception that there is a direct correlation between followers and customers.  That correlation doesn't exist.  10,000 followers does not equate to 10,000 paying customers.  And at the end of the day, that's what you need, paying customers.Paying customers means everything in business.  Followers don't matter.  Listen in as Callye and Julie talk about alternative methods to social media marketing, and why someone who is watching you on social media platforms is more likely to buy from you than someone who is actually following and engaging with you on social media and social networks. And you're more likely to make a purchase during a product launch from someone and then start following them to support a product or service you like than you are to follow someone and then make a purchase.  It's not a straight line from follower to sale.[10:03] Get out of your headYou've created some kind of crazy obstacle and you say if I do these things, then I'm going to be ready to offer something to my audience. I can tell you that you're just adding risk. And you're also building up an audience that doesn't know you're about to offer this thing. It's all in your head. You're complicating the product development process.[10:57] What are you afraid ofHow many people do you think are afraid to move off of social media as the marketing tool for their company because they're uncertain. Either they're afraid of the work effort to go someplace else. Or because they are afraid that maybe they don't actually have something that people want to buy? What if the fear is they will never make revenue, so they don't try?[12:34] Who already has the attention of your audienceIf he wanted to do this through social media, he'd have to create a Facebook page or start polling people, find all the Facebook groups created and start messaging. He'd have to do the whole social media thing from scratch. Now using the simple techniques that I use, we just went to the bike shop. Get in front of where the traffic already is. People in a bike shop, what do you know about them? Right off the bat. They like biking. They have a high intent ratio of purchasing like products.[17:00] Know your customerYou have to go where your actual customer is. I think a lot of people don't know where their customer is though, because they don't know who their customer is. Yes. So we dial it all the way back. And that's why I shared a new benchmarking tool that we're working on.[18:03] Partnerships Then I show them what you could do with B2B, what you can do with partnership deals. And it's this lightbulb moment, “I'm missing this whole other side of my brain”.[19:52] Ideal customerThat is not how things went, it was tons of networking to get in front of people, talk and figure out who our customer is and how we Underdog EmpowermentFrom over 5 years in prison to scaling businesses and rubbing elbows with...Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify Evolve CPG - Brands for a Better WorldA behind the scenes look at the leaders, brands, and products that are changing the world.Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify Join The End Hype Movementredbluecollective.com/movement

Through his simple strategy, Malaki has been able to not only defer taxes but in some cases, eliminate them entirely, just through simple, smart real estate investing.Malaki shares how even a novice real estate investor can find, fund, finish, and furnish an opportunity zone rental property all while keeping Uncle Sam away from their hard-earned profits. If you want to build wealth without having to worry about 1031-ing your properties, Malaki is the man to listen to.In This Episode We Cover:Opportunity zones explained and how new investors can start investing in themWhere to find opportunity zones in your local area (no matter where you live!)Funding opportunity zone investments with little to no money down The biggest opportunity zone myths that scare away investors far too earlyDepreciation, bonus depreciation, and tax-deferral strategies you can take advantage ofHow crypto, stock, and other investors can invest in real estate tax-free And So Much More!Links from the Show:BiggerPockets WebsiteBiggerPockets BookstoreBiggerPockets ForumsBiggerPockets Podcast Episode 569: Rich Dad's CPA Shares 5 Steps to Eliminate Income Taxes through Real Estate w/Tom WheelwrightRobert Kiyosaki's Official WebsiteDonald Trump's Official WebsiteCalifornia Opportunity Zone WebsiteCryptocurrencyRob's TikTok ProfileRob's InstagramRob's Youtube ChannelDavid's InstagramDavid's Tiktok ProfileConnect with King Malaki:King Malaki's InstagramKing Malaki's ClubhouseCheck the full show notes here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/real-estate-599See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
