Ali and Ever sit down with FirmTech's own Dr. Justin Elliot and talk about sex, pleasure, sexual health and CENTAURS! Just a heads up In this episode, Dr. Elliot—who is a cisgender, heterosexual male—uses some binary and cisnormative language when discussing sex and gender, referring to "penis" with AMAB and "vagina" with AFAB. He also misgenders Ever a lot but not intentionally. While we did our best to encourage the use of more inclusive terms such as "AMAB/AFAB," "people with vaginas/penises," and to center non-binary experiences, some of the language may still feel outdated or non-inclusive. We understand this might be frustrating or hurtful for some listeners. We want to acknowledge that impact, even if there was no harm intended. We found Dr. Elliot to be open-minded, sex-positive, and genuinely trying to engage in a respectful and inclusive conversation. There is also a brief mentioning of animal testing as well as human testing (Dr. Elliot tested on himself.) Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

I don't need to throw out content warnings for this show anymore, right? It's pretty well-known that heavy stuff is discussed here. In this particular episode, Tony Pacitti shares his experience of becoming a father, and dealing with his wife's postpartum depression and psychosis all in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic's early days. It's a lot for a new father to deal with (understatement of the century) but, Tony managed to find support from his family and friends and eventually reached a point of relative normalcy. Tony highlights the importance of trust and communication in relationships and goes deep on the challenges of parenting twins. He also emphasizes the relative lack of support groups for new dads, the need for more, and what he's doing to keep the conversation going. Tony reflects on his own childhood and what it's like to raise two AMAB children in 2024. There's a lot of ground covered, and I hope that you enjoy our conversation!
The prostate is a gland below the bladder and in front of the rectum in men and people assigned male at birth (AMAB). It consists of connective tissues and glandular tissues. It adds fluid to semen, and its muscles help push semen through your urethra. Conditions that affect your prostate include cancer, prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
It's the final episode of our series on trans voices... an interview with the speech-language pathologist that I saw for my gender-affirming speech therapy! We're going to get into the science behind it all, why AMAB and AFAB voices sound different and what it really takes to change them. It takes a long time and a lot of work, but if you're dedicated and put in the effort (with safe and certified instruction), amazing things can happen. Do you... adore the lore behind Al Gore? Facial feminization surgery (FFS) is not covered by some health plans. If your health insurance company says they won't pay for a surgery you need, you can appeal that decision. Listener Robin asks for tips from Faith, who succeeded with her appeal on her third try. Our other FFS episodes: Faith F's her F Part I Faith F's her F Part II Faith vs Her Health Insurance "Insemination style genitalia" and "gestational genitalia" are terms that Faith thought up in her weird brain and we do NOT recommend googling them. Kath thinks AFAB and AMAB are adequate. Faith learned about appealing decisions from your health insurance at the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference. There was no 2023 conference but there will be one in 2024 and we will see you there! Legal aid societies that can help you with your appeal, for each state. Faith said people with gestational genitalia (aka AFAB people or people who were assigned female at birth) "retain neoteny". Neoteny refers to child-like facial characteristics. These “neotenous” characteristics include a large forehead with lower set eyes, nose and mouth; a smaller, shorter, more recessive chin; fuller lips; larger eyes; a smaller nose; higher, thinner eyebrows; and a rounder, less angular face. This can be (but is not always) associated with attractiveness, to some people. Our old video of conventionally attractive people whose facial features are androgynous or even skew toward those of the opposite gender included the jerk Ezra Miller. Join us in cancelling that creep. Faith's surgeon, Bella Avanessian, MD at Mt Sinai, also has Jazz Jennings as a patient. See Dr. A. in this video as a baby doctor, just starting her surgical fellowship. Legal Eagle YouTuber has an episode about arbitrators and also "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Former New York State governor Mario Cuomo groped staff members and helped the LGBTQ+ community a lot. Those are two uncomfortable truths we have to live with.

How do I approach girls as a bi girl with a fear of rejection? I'm a woman and my AMAB partner recently came out as a trans woman. Do you have any tips for exploring a new sexual dynamic so we can both embrace our femininity? How do you get yourself out of a dry spell? Do you know much about sexsomnia? Welcome to Season 3 and Episode 48 of the Movement Logic podcast! In this episode, Laurel and Sarah discuss dogmatic beliefs and myths around the pelvis from the yoga, Pilates, and strength training worlds. We also discuss how correlating pelvic position with safety or pain is not backed by research, and thus what value teaching pelvic alignment may or may not have. You will learn: Natural variations on the AFAB and AMAB pelvises How there's a variety of ideas on where neutral pelvis is, which tells us that nobody knows what a neutral pelvis actually is That anterior pelvic tilt is not a pathology and we need to stop acting like it is Alignment cueing has value - let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater What place does mula bandha have in our pelvis Literally, where is mula bandha as there seems to be no agreement Is “butt wink” a bad thing or an inevitable thing? They seek to understand masculinity and try to find out how use it in a more healthy way. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: What's it like to have sex with Duncan?, published by Duncan Sabien on June 17, 2022 on LessWrong. Content warning: the title. While this essay is neither explicit nor vulgar, it talks frankly about the topic at hand in a PG-13 sort of way, and may be NSFW for many instances of W. I secured approval from LW leadership before posting. What on Earth is this essay? Well, I started wondering about the above question, and I decided to ask some people. I know a lot about what I want sex with me to be like—what sort of person I want to be in the bedroom, what sort of impact I hope to have on the people I'm intimate with. And of course I get substantial feedback through people's nonverbals and little bits of pillow talk and so forth. But I'd never really actually just asked, directly. So I did! I sent a broad, open-ended request for info to thirteen of the twenty-four people I've ever had sex with, and got back responses from twelve of them (and a polite “no thanks” from the thirteenth). I left out the ex from my longest relationship (who spent several years after breaking up with me being really quite vicious at unpredictable intervals), and there were a number of people (including a bunch of one-offs) that I had no way of getting in touch with. But represented among the respondents were: 4 AMAB men, 4 AFAB trans/nonbinary folk, and 4 AFAB women 3 partners with 8+ encounters (a person I've been having sex with for 20 years, a person I've been having sex with for 10 years, and my current fiancé) and 9 partners with 1-7 encounters each At least five people I hope/expect to sleep with again More people than you might naively expect for whom I was something like their first sexual partner, or their first male partner, or their first partner since Something Bad in their past (whether recent or distant) Why this post? A few reasons. First, I often think by writing, and I wanted to digest and distill and . collate? . the various responses I'd received, and make them all make sense together, and an essay felt like a pretty natural way to do that. Second, I really liked the idea of there being something for potential future partners to look at, that was rooted in the direct, first-person data of past partners rather than wholly filtered through my own self-report. It seems like good information to have available, for people who are wondering if they would like being physically intimate with me! And I am fond of moves which simultaneously [attract people who are into your whole deal] and [deter people who are not], and both the essay itself and its specific contents seemed likely to do that. Third: it is my belief that sex and sexuality have too much power in our society, that our mythology and mysticism around them give them even more power than they would naturally have, given human biology and psychology, and that the best path forward for us, as a culture, is to boring-ify and mundane-ify them. Writing this essay publicly rather than privately was a small act of bravery and a baby step toward being the change I want to see in the world. (I of course told my partners up front that a public essay was one possible outcome of the survey and that I would not-publish anything they flagged as private.) On completeness, and bias A lot of the quotes and summaries to follow are nice! My partners and former partners said a lot of nice things (though not only nice things), and a lot of those things made me feel pretty good about myself. There is a Certain Kind Of Reader who will see someone saying nice things about themselves of any kind (let alone in the fraught domain of sex and sexuality) and try to make that seem bad, somehow. I've elected not to try to make this essay proof against that sort of adversarial interpretation, and have spent basically no energy on modeling those readers outs...

In this episode I share my experience of anal rape, discuss the dangerous myth that boys/men/AMAB people can't control themselves, discuss consent, and talk about some of the reasons why it was so difficult for me to identify this particular assault as valid and as a rape.Sexual Assault can happen to anyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Women and AFAB people experience anal rape too and it is not discussed enough. Because anal sex continues to be taboo in out culture there is an extra layer of shame and stigma that survivors of anal rape face on their path to healing. I hope that by sharing this story I can help others feel less alone. The Episode CoverThe episode cover is an actual photo of me and my abuser that was taken the year this assault took place. It is run through a filter to protect identities. Without context the photo looks innocent enough, but within the context of an abusive relationship the image changes. I was standing tall and confident and he is seen pulling at my arm to spin me around, or pull me to him. It was a moment I know must have appeared charming or romantic to outsiders. You're a man, with a penis, but you enjoy dressing up as a woman. OMG, you must want to be transgender! Not exactly. Ok, so you want to do strange things to children in bathrooms by dressing up as a woman..HELL NO. Truth is, you are simply a man who likes men and women, and who one day you like presenting as a man, and the next day presenting as a woman, and you enjoy sex with both...Welcome to being gender fluid. Kat LaMar shares his, hers, their story on the life of being a genderfluid individual which actually has nothing to do with their sexual orientation, until it does. Let's go explore gender fluidity. About Kat I'm an AMAB (assigned male at birth) who identifies as genderfluid/non-binary. Before I knew those words, I described myself as a "cross dresser." That term is now antiquated and does not reflect my gender identity. I knew I was "different" at around 4 years old. From then until my 20s, I struggled with all of the typical shame and self-hatred associated with feeling different. I told no one. I did everything I could to get rid of it. I was surrounded, as many of us were and are, by toxic masculinity. I finally came out to someone at age 19. From then, my circle of people who knew about me gradually grew bigger and bigger. Still, I kept a list in my head of people who could never know. I got married and had three kids. They all knew and embraced it. I was lucky. For unrelated reasons, my wife and I separated in 2017. It was then that I decided I didn't want to have a "circle" of people who knew and a list of people who didn't. I decided to come out to the world, via social media, of course. I credit a girlfriend I had at the time. Although we only were together for about two months, she left me with one of the best pieces of wisdom I had ever heard: give those around you the change to love you as a queer person. I'm very fortunate to be surrounded by so many people who love and embrace my authentic self-the authentic version of me who I hated and tried to get rid of for so long. My sexual orientation follows a pretty similar arc. I knew as a child that I liked girls. But I also liked guys. I had the same feelings of guilt and shame. I hid it from everyone and tried to rid myself of it. Eventually, there was a small circle of people who I told. That circle got bigger and bigger, until there was no circle at all. My wife, who was also bisexual, knew and embraced it. I identify as pansexual and polyamorous. Ironically, I'm not currently seeing anyone. Living authentically is critical to living a happy and satisfying life. There is nothing like it. Today I get to chat (and laugh) with Dr. Melissa Cioffi, PT, the owner of New Quest Physical Therapy, a mobile physical therapy practice specializing in pelvic health Mel Cioffi is a doctor of physical therapy who “frees active folx with vaginas from endless kegels and garbage exercises so they can get their damn lives back." She's participating in the O+ Festival offering a class, "Beyond Kegels," where you'll learn the basics of what the pelvic floor is, does, and how to condition yours beyond kegels alone. You will learn how breathwork can be incorporated with your deep abdominals and pelvic floor. This will be for AFAB participants (I am not trained in pelvic floor conditioning related to AMAB people…yet!) Join her Sunday, October 10th from 1:15-2:15 at the Yoga House. In the second half of today's show (around minute 54) I get to speak with several members of the Performance sin Miedo, a community event bringing awareness to ending violence against women. Joining the conversation are co-organizers, Perla Ayora and Mariel Fiori; choir director, Christine Gevert; cellist, Carolyn Leschuza; and community singers Maritza Del Razo and Sue Weed.Violence against women and girls is one of the most serious, widespread, deep-rooted and tolerated human rights violations in the world. Women and girls suffer various types of violence in all areas of their lives and under multiple manifestations: at home, in public spaces, at school, at work, in cyberspace, in the community, in politics, in institutions, among others. According to UN Women Mexico, globally, 1 in 3 women has suffered physical and / or sexual violence throughout their lives, and in some countries this proportion increases to 7 out of 10. Another unpleasant record: 14 of the 25 countries with the highest number of femicides are in Latin America and the Caribbean. In Mexico, 43.9% of women have experienced violence from their current or last partner. And in the United States we are not left behind in statistics concerning the violent patriarchy. According to the National Coalition against Domestic Violence, every minute almost 20 people are physically abused by their partner; in a year this is equivalent to more than 10 million people.Because of these type of numbers, and because of specific cases that we know here in the Hudson Valley and beyond, it is that a score of Spanish-speaking women, led by choral director Christine Gevert, with the support of two radio program hosts, Perla Ayora of No me digas, and Mariel Fiori, of La Voz con Mariel Fiori, on Radio Kingston, unite our voices for a Performance without fear, free and open to the public. All people who support the global cause, against femicide and against violence against women, are invited to bring their banners and join in on Sunday, October 10 at 4 p.m. at the Parking Lot of the Kingston Court House, 285 Wall Street. The event will be livestreamed and English interpretation will be provided. What will happen at the Performance without Fear / Performance sin miedo? Everyone is invited to join in singing the Spanish language feminist anthem that went around the world in 2019 and that began in Chile thanks to the Las Tesis Collective, A rapist on your way, with strong and powerful lyrics: Patriarchy is a our judge, that imprisons us at birth, and our punishment is the violence you don't see. After this song, several people will have the opportunity to share their experience with gender violence, from the organizers and participants, to women who work in organizations that provide resources to help survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Finally, we will sing another feminist hymn, The song without fear by Vivir Quintana, with the arrangement of Paz Court. When she gave her permission for this performance in Kingston,Chilean composer and singer Paz Court, who arranged the Song without fear, which was sung by El Palomar choir for the first time, said: “Thank you for joining your voices and helping to spread this message around the world”.We have changed some of the names that are mentioned in the song for cases that the group wanted to highlight, such as Vanessa Guillén, Nicole “Nikki” Addimando, and Marielle Franco. In the revised lyrics, we also recognize the thousands of immigrant women who are waiting to reach the United States and are now in overcrowded shelters in Mexico.Christine Gevert, founder and choral artistic director of Crescendo, in charge of preparing the participating Spanish-speaking women, said “I feel very honored to be able to be a part and help in this initiative. I realize that I have been privileged in my life thus far and I live in a safe ‘bubble' here in the Northwest corner of CT. I frequently experienced sexual harassment on the streets of Chile growing up, but I never thought much about it as it was part of our reality and we got used to dealing with it. I did not realize how much domestic violence, especially against women, is still a problem in this country, and in the countries of Latin America and in our neighbor Mexico!”For more information or to participate, email lavoz@radiokingston.orgWe also listened to the songs, "New Moon" by Breanna Barbara who is playing the O+ Festival Friday at 8:30pm at Keegan Ale's, and "Right Now is All We Know" by Shana Falana who's performing at 7:45pm Friday evening at the County Lot. Fraz: Facial Hair Things that make us feel euphoric: Sascz's new reimagining of his Draenei Shaman in WoW. I've had her for ages and had this general idea of her having some kind of deep dark trauma, but hadn't really fleshed it out. Then I read about the Scythian Enarei (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enaree) who were AMAB but feminized themselves using (among other things) pregnant mares' urine (today known as premarin!) and identified as females; they were great shamans and worshiped nature (did not use temples). So I've decided my toon is an Enares and am RP'ing her as such. She is very old, and has children whom she fathered (much like me mothering my children) but then transitioned later on after the Draenei were driven from Argus. It makes me very happy to have this toon who is sort of my mirror image to play! I also have a FTM toon but he isn't fleshed out as much. When Sascz is “heard” and accepted as male while talking to recruiters! Fraz: Having my manager at my grocery store say “There SHE is!” Fraz: Seeing my breasts and hips and butt come in. Fraz: Being properly gendered. Fraz: Experiencing my cycle each month, as uncomfortable as it is Fraz: Thinking of my past self as being perceived as a man --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lothie/support

It's about time we desexualize conversations about sex. This week, Kenna and Brianna are joined by fellow Peer Educator and all-around cool human Tacs to talk about what it's like to be asexual in sex ed. circles, the abstractness of gender, and the importance of vocabulary, community, and communication. Below you can find a glossary of jargon-y terms we might've said on the show. AFAB: Acronym meaning Assigned Female at Birth. AFAB people may or may not identify as female some or all of the time. AFAB is a useful term for educating about issues that may happen to these bodies without connecting to womanhood or femaleness.Androgynous: Having physical elements of both femininity and masculinity, whether expressed through sex, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. AMAB: Acronym meaning Assigned Male at Birth. AMAB people may or may not identify as male some or all of the time. Asexual: Describes a person who experiences little or no sexual attraction to others. Asexuality is not the same as celibacy and exists on a spectrum with varying relationships and feelings towards sex. Aromantic: Sometimes abbreviated as "aro," the term refers to an individual who does not experience romantic attraction. Aromantic people exist on a spectrum of romantic attraction and can use terms such as gray aromantic or grayromantic to describe their place within that spectrum. Aromantic people can experience sexual attraction. Cisgender: Those who identify and present as the gender they were assigned at birth. In its simplest terms, cisgender describes someone who is not transgender.Gender dysphoria: Describes the distress, unhappiness, and anxiety that transgender people may feel about the mismatch between their bodies and their gender identity.Gender non-conforming: A person whose gender expression is perceived as being inconsistent with cultural norms expected for that gender. Neopronouns: A neopronoun can be a word created to serve as a pronoun without expressing gender, like “ze” and “zir.” Nonbinary: Non-binary is an umbrella term for gender identities that are neither male nor female—identities that are outside the gender binary.Words that people may use to express their nonbinary gender identity include “agender,” “bigender,” “genderqueer,” “genderfluid,” and “pangender.”Pansexual: A sexual orientation that describes a person who is emotionally and sexually attracted to people regardless of gender.Transgender: A general term used to describe someone whose gender expression/gender identity are different than the sex assigned at birth. Sometimes shortened to trans or trans*.For more information about the resources we talked about in this episode, check out the links below.Planned Parenthood website: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-southwest-central-floridaRose Dynasty Foundation: https://www.rosedynastyfoundationinc.org/Planned Parenthood Textchat: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/online-tools/chat or text PPNOW to the number 774636 (PPINFO)Special thanks to: Planned Parenthood Staff: Paola Ferst, Kelsey Hunt-Dolan, and Nan MorganAudio Editor: Martin PelaezMusic: Rascal Miles with the song “Imagination.” Also check out their new project Tailor-Made at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhJDNtkZTYI Cover Art: Brianna Nelson

When I first began this podcast series, Sarah Moore was one of the first people I wanted to interview on a range of topics in regards to personal safety, especially in regards to safety at trans conferences and for clients who have transitioned AMAB or MtF and are not aware of the new set of dangers they are exposed to as full or part time women. Our safety expert, Sarah Moore, has a previous medical background that she has paired with 19 years of experience in law enforcement including work in city foot patrol, S.W.A.T. and as a detective in a Crimes Against Persons Unit specializing in Gender-Based Crimes. Cat and Bat get together for a personal talk about their relationship to gender, transitioning, and their road into the world of the wibbley wobbley gendy bendy. CW: transphobia, gatekeeping, NSFW discussion ______________________________ This is not "Transgender 101" and a few concepts may be unfamiliar to some listeners. So here follows a brief explanation: Assigned female at birth = Anyone who has been thought to be a girl growing up. They may or may not disagree with this later. Shortened to AFAB. Assigned male at birth = Anyone who has been thought to be a boy growing up. They may or may not disagree with this later. Shortened to AMAB. Transwoman: A person who is AMAB, who identifies as a woman. Transman: A person who is AFAB, who identifies as a man. Genderqueer/Nonbinary/Agender/Genderfluid etc: Genders that do not fit the binary "man or woman" options. Cis woman: A person who is both AFAB and identifies as a woman. Cis man: A person who is both AMAB and identifies as a man. T: As in "I may want to go on T" - the hormone testosterone, AFAB people can take this hormone as a step in their transition. (Physical) transition: The act of physically altering your body to be more aligned with the typical characteristics of people who share your gender identity. This often includes hormones and surgery. Not all trans people choose to transition. Dysphoria: More accurately, "gender dysphoria" - feelings of unease and depression etc. caused by the disconnect between how a trans person feels they should look, be perceived etc, and how they actually are. Not all trans people experience dysphoria, but many do, and it can be very painful. Top surgery: Usually refers to removal of chest tissue for AFAB people. Bottom surgery: Surgery to alter your genitals. Have you ever wanted to live out your medieval life dreams in a safe and modern way? This is exactly what today's guest, Jamie Unrau, does with the Society for Creative Anachronism. Today, we're talking about this cool, geeky hobby, their gender identity and journey, and the intersection of both. Jamie is a film PA, indie game developer, writer, active member of the SCA, and all around geeky person. They were assisgned male at birth (AMAB), transitioned to female in 2007, and now identifies as non-binary/genderfluid. The Society for Creative Anachronism is a modern medieval world that celebrates all the good parts of the time period and reimagining the bad. Women have a proper place in society, men are chivilrous, and gender expression is a-okay. Jamie has created their non-binary Ancient Greek persona, Appa Apopolitarchopolis in line with the SCA's regulations. Jamie also shares they they used to believe that women were the more priviledged gender and how their worldview completely changed when they transitioned. They talk about how the SCA is changing to embrace gender diversity and invite you to join their openly queer clan. Do you want to join the SCA? (You're totally not alone, Amanda does, too!) How do you approach gender identity? You can find Jamie Online (https://unrau.me) Learn more about the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc (https://www.sca.org/). Episode 8: Imposter Syndrome and Being Trans Enough In Episode 8 of the Kinky, Nerdy, and Poly podcast talks about a heavy subject and a bit of a deviation from the normal topics of the show - being transgender and having imposter syndrome. In particular, it discusses how one can feel not "trans" enough, not "queer" enough, and the feelings that "maybe you aren't REALLY trans". The hosts, both trans themselves, walk you through their experiences with this syndrome as it relates to their gender and sexuality. These experiences come from two different directions, L (normally G) being an AMAB trans-feminine genderfluid person and M being an AFAB non-binary trans guy. Despite these differences, their journeys have similarities that unite them in this particularly difficult dialogue. If you are transgender and you need someone to talk to you can call the Trans Lifeline. The number for Trans Lifeline in the US is 877-565-8860 and in Canada is 877-330-6366.Webcomic about different types of dysphoria by Raylen Greer. The blog post that dives deeper into passing privilege and queer imposter syndrome is divided into two parts. We chat about masculinity and makeup–when is makeup on men coded as queer and when is it not? Scott grapples with feeling empowered by heels and makeup as a queer AMAB person who also recognizes that a lot of people get criticized for not participating in beauty standards. He talks about his endless search for the perfect matte black lip, and spoiler alert, I’ve seen the pictures and it’s damn hot. Intro music: New Year by Sacrosanct https://sacrosanct.bandcamp.com
In this episode I discuss how podcast (and other types of media) consumption is often used as a way to replace or mimic meaningful connection and relationships. The intent is not to diminish the value of podcasts (that wouldn't be very productive), but rather to consider how people, especially men/people AMAB can challenge their own consumptive patterns or extractive patters and build meaningful relationships.
