The King of the Hill Corvette is making a comeback, and we have the specifications, the hype and our comments on what the newest and hottest version of “America's Sports Car” means to you and to General Motors. The just-released specs on the new 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 are mind-boggling. Tucked behind the driver and passenger is the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer, and it's housed in an iconic design that has the goods to challenge the world's best supercars. Former Road & Track Editor Matt DeLorenzo and former Motor Trend Editor Jack Nerad, who is, of course, the host of America on the Road and owner of a classic Corvette, will give their thoughts on what promises to be a landmark vehicle. While some observers suggest that we have enough crossover SUVs already, Toyota obviously doesn't think so. To prove the point, the brand recently introduced the first-ever 2025 Toyota Crown Signia, and it's set to arrive in dealerships virtually as you read this. The brand is taking an upscale approach with its new toy. Available in XLE and Limited trims, the Crown Signia is equipped with the Toyota Hybrid System and all-wheel drive. With a four-cylinder engine doing the heavy lifting, the hybrid system delivers a net output of 240 horsepower and achieves an EPA-estimated 38 mpg combined rating. The Crown Signia's handsome exterior boasts a stylish and sleek monochromatic grille and the option for 21-inch wheels. Inside, the premium cabin offers seating for five and a fold-flat second row. Passengers can enjoy a quiet ride with standard leather-trimmed seating, soft-touch materials, and the option of a panoramic glass roof. The likable new model is also equipped with a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen and comes with standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 advanced driver assistance system array. Of course, all this sounds as appealing as a hot fudge sundae topped with real whipped cream, but how does it drive? Guest co-host Matt DeLorenzo will tell us in his portion of the road test segment. In the other half, host Jack Nerad will describe his weeklong encounter with Volvo's newest version of its C40 Recharge battery-electric crossover coupe. The big news is the Single Motor version of the Volvo C40 Recharge that Nerad tested. It's the first rear-drive Volvo in years, and it makes the handsome C40 Recharge a much more competitive player in the cutthroat BEV crossover market. Nealy every automaker offers an electric car nowadays. Volvo's second full EV is the C40 Recharge. Similar to the XC40 Recharge, it drops the X and the squared-off back end. C30 has more of a coupe silhouette. The interior is rich in recycled materials and it's packed with the newest interface that runs the Android Automotive user interface. How does its range and charge speed compare to other modern EVs? Tom Voelk travels to Palm Springs, CA to check one out in Fjord Blu . And true to Volvo's safety reputation, there's a section on what the company does to keep people from harm, and the companies commitment to sustainability and recycling.    

Volvo is turning itself into a completely new brand with a strong emphasis on EVs. The latest example of that is the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge, a vehicle we got a chance to test drive in the desert of Southern California. Kristina Vasandani, Volvo Senior Product Manager, is an expert on the C40 Recharge EV, and Host Jack Nerad got the chance to talk with her at length about the new car and how it fits into Volvo's plans to concentrate heavily on electric vehicles. We'll have that insightful interview for you in this week's episode of America on the Road. It is New York Auto Show week so the new model introductions came thick and fast. In our news segment, we'll tell you about the 2023 Toyota bZ4X electric sport-utility, the 2023 Kia Niro, the 2023 Honda HR-V, and the truly mind-boggling 1,050-horsepower Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance. Chris Teague will tell us how the small pickup worked out for his family as winter turned to spring in Maine. At the same time, Host Jack Nerad had the opportunity to drive the 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, a sport utility that has strong off-road credentials. In the course of the rigorous test that involved a trip from Southern California to the Central Coast, he put more than 600 fresh miles on the 4Runner's odometer. ELECTRIC VW TRINITY TO BE BUILT AT A NEW $2.2-BILLION FACTORY - Volkswagen has announced it has passed a resolution that gives a go-ahead to build a new plant that will build the upcoming all-electric model, the Trinity. The up-and-coming flagship model was first announced in 2021, which will spearhead the next generation of zero-emission VW cars. - The new factory will be built near VW's main plant in Wolfsburg. - VW said investment totals to around €2 billion or around $2.2 billion with the current exchange rates. - Construction for the new Wolfburg plant for the Trinity is set to begin as early as spring 2023. Si les voitures électriques sont bien souvent valorisées par le fait qu'elles n'émettent pas de gaz à effet de serre ni de particules fines lors d'un trajet, cette technologie fait face à de nombreuses critiques, sur son autonomie, mais aussi sur la pollution de ses batteries. Aujourd'hui, c'est au tour du constructeur Volvo de critiquer les voitures électriques. Le constructeur suédois estime que leur production est plus polluante que pour les voitures diesel ou essence.Pour prouver ses dires, Volvo a publié une étude sur le bilan carbone complet de la fabrication de son modèle C40 Recharge, la seconde voiture électrique de la marque. Objectif, la comparer avec la production d'un XC40 avec moteur thermique. Les résultats montrent que la fabrication d'un C40 Recharge génère 70% d'émissions de Co2 supplémentaires par rapport au XC40. À noter que les deux véhicules sont construits dans la même usine Volvo, sur la même chaîne d'assemblage et qu'ils partagent un grand nombre de composants.D'après le constructeur automobile, c'est la production de la batterie électrique qui augmente la quantité de CO2. Une voiture électrique arriverait donc sur le marché en ayant déjà pollué davantage qu'une voiture à combustion. C'est seulement à partir du moment où elle arpentera les routes se montrera finalement plus écologique qu'un véhicule thermique. Pour qu'une version électrique parvienne à rattraper l'excédent de CO2 émis pendant sa conception, elle devrait selon Volvo impérativement rouler plus de 200 000 km avant de passer par la case recyclage.Alors critiquer c'est bien, mais le constructeur suédois propose aussi des solutions. Afin de réduire la quantité de CO2 lors de la production des batteries électriques, Volvo recommande de se tourner vers les énergies propres dès la fabrication. Ainsi, un C40 aura une empreinte CO2 d'environ 27 tonnes pendant son cycle de vie si l'électricité provient de sources propres.
