As a personal development coach who works with parents, I'm particularly passionate about helping people navigate the major transitions in family life. Wether the transition that occurs in becoming parents or the one that occurs when a relationship becomes irreparable, these transitions create great opportunities for growth. Believe me when I say that these lessons have been hard earned. My first child came swiftly on the heals of my first marriage. Not so surprisingly we failed to navigate the change of roles from partners to parents. Both of us feeling abandoned, neglected, and undernourished led to increased conflicts that eventually ended in divorce. It was undoubtedly the biggest failure of my life AND it also sparked my transformation from a grown child with a baby to a mature nurturing adult stewarding life. In the aftermath of the divorce, I began to reflect on what went wrong. I realized that I had been blaming my partner for the problems in our relationship, rather than taking responsibility for my triggers and unhealed traumas. This realization was a wake-up call, and it was the beginning of my personal development journey. I got involved with personal development and started leading men's groups, and it changed my life. I began to deepen my exploration of compassionate communication as well as taking a path of radical responsibility for everything that was showing up in my life. I started applying these principles to my life and relationships, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities. My second journey through marriage and parenting would prove to be far more successful. Although a change in sexual identity would bring an end to our marriage, we continue to share a thriving relationship as compassionate co-parents and loving friends. My two divorces were certainly among the hardest challenges I have faced in my life, but they were also the challenges that taught me how to truly hold and grow both a family and a life of purpose. The clarity I gained and offer to my family and clients is what I call Inspirational Parenting. This approach is about allowing the reflections of our closest relationships to become the guide for the growth most needed to create greater fulfillment. From that place of fulfillment, inspiring others to meet me at my highest. I can not change others but I can inspire their growth and if nothing else, I will grow in the process. In this episode of Next Level Human Podcast, Dr. Jade and Emily Gough discuss the many nuances of male (and female) insecurity, the different aspects of sexual encounters, the singular connections between men and women when it comes to sex, and how people should view sex as an exploratory process instead of something unemotional and mechanical. Each person is unique and everyone has a particular set of wants and needs, both outside and inside the bedroom. A sexual experience can be the perfect opportunity to explore this. However, these experiences can also make insecurities more apparent – which is normal. Talking to your partner, understanding where these insecurities are coming from, and looking at the whole thing from different angles are the key steps to making a pleasurable situation even more pleasurable. In this episode, Dr. Jade and Emily talk about all the nuances involving friendships between men and women. A male individual and a female individual don't necessarily need to be romantically involved to have and nurture a true friendship. Not only are friendship and love two different things, but friendship can happen in any circumstance, regardless of gender. If you are in a romantic relationship, it's also important to understand that your partner has all the right to have friends outside of the relationship. It can be harmful to the relationship itself to rely only on one person to ‘be happy' and ‘enjoy life'. Humans need different connections with different people to feel fulfilled and it's completely normal to have social interactions that don't involve you. There's no need to feel insecure or left behind. Tune in! Check out the Next Level Human sponsors! In this episode of Next Level Human Podcast, Dr. Jade and Emily Gough talk about the challenges of romantic and intimate relationships. Building a solid relationship with someone is a beautiful thing as we all know. All aspects of having a partner are important for our well-being: companionship, accountability, and support. However, we shouldn't rely on somebody else all the time to be content in life, right? If we are always seeking for the other person to provide safety, security, and happiness we will start to develop a level of attachment that is simply not healthy. On the other hand, an honest relationship helps us go through life with much more joy and happiness. So, in order to have balance when it comes to relationships it's really important to do some inner work and be open to having dialogues both with your partner and yourself. Tune in! Join this episode of Next Level Human Podcast as Dr. Jade and Emily Gough discuss the roles given to men over the years, and how it affects their actions and behaviors. On the other hand, it's also interesting to note the influence that women have on these same actions and behaviors. However, both men and women are part of a larger group – the human group – so it's important to see the whole situation from that angle as well. Dr. Jade and Emily highlight that the differences between males and females only happen up to a certain point. Passed that point, we can now start to analyze men/women struggles as human struggles, men/women battles as human battles, men/women patterns as human patterns, and so on and so forth. This idea applies not only to gender, but also to race, ethnicity, and many other human characteristics. Tune in! Check out the Next Level Human sponsors! I was on the ROOM TO GROW podcast with Emily Gough and gave an interview that was the turning point for me of really understand my own magic when it came to manifestation. I thought it was important to share on my own platform because Emily asked me questions that really help me explain what this is all about. I adore her so go check out her podcast as well! " I call my dear friend Alea Lovely the “Manifestation Queen” because I swear she can manifest anything. But what I truly love about Alea is that she's all about “grounded spirituality” which isn't about staring at your vision board all day asking the Universe to send you all your hopes and dreams in a basket. Instead, she teaches how manifestation starts with surrendering and letting go of resistance within our nurtured beliefs. This is where healing truly begins and opens us up to receive all the good we desire (relationships, money, purpose etc.) Alea is an Energy Reader, Spiritual Teacher, host of the popular podcast Spiritual Shit and founder of Mystery School. She's back on this podcast to really dig into how manifestation actually works and the signs to look for that inhibit the manifestation process. Alea and I are talking about: • How Alea's manifestation journey started with “embracing emptiness” • How Alea's approach to spirituality and manifestation is different • Why manifestation requires surrender and letting go of resistance • Why instead of trying to manifest something, you need to change the way you think about that thing first • How to recognize signs of resistance • Why we first need to open up and expand to be able to receive a manifestation • Why we often hold onto beliefs that inhibit manifestation Work with me here: Thelovelyalea.com Get my Energy meditations here: thelovelyalea.com/shop Become a Patreon Member to get behind the scenes, extra content, and workshops. The correlation between dating and social media is more curious than you probably think. People who have an impactful presence online can – and should – be honest about their relationships and romantic status, because the way all of us show up online is the way we show up in real life. Our social media profiles are an extension of our day to day actions so they also require a good amount of integrity and transparency. In this episode, Dr. Jade and Emily debate all the kinds of do's and don'ts of social media interactions if there is a relationship going on in our real lives. The online world allows everyone to follow everyone, so it might be confusing to manage the dynamics between ex partners, current partners, potential partners, likes, comments, DMs, and you… amidst it all. Age gap romances have always been surrounded by a lot of stigma in the eyes of society. People involved in a relationship where one is much older than the other are often more susceptible to the opinions and judgments of someone else. Not only that, there are important factors to be taken into account when starting a relationship like that such as differences between life experiences, specific goals in life, and overall lifestyle. In this episode of the Next Level Human podcast, Dr. Jade and Emily Gough analyze these types of romances and relationships between two individuals who don't have the same age. In order to live an experience with these circumstances, the person involved needs to have some level of confidence, self-consciousness, comfort, and most of all: preparation to deal with potential issues of compatibility. Relationships are – or at least should be – created and cultivated in the life of two individuals to make all the areas of life easier and more manageable. As long as two people have each other and have a strong bond, the adversities of life become a game for two players. However, when a relationship happens to go through a betrayal, what was supposed to be simple turns into a complex situation, where the two parts (the betrayed and the betrayer) must re-evaluate to understand what happened. In this episode of the Next Level Human podcast, you will listen to a frank discussion about relationships, how betrayals impact, not only the relationship, but the whole connection between two individuals, and how to begin to understand the causes and the consequences of a situation that involves a person betraying another. More important than being responsible with the circumstances is to accept the lessons and learn from it all. Tune in! Check out the Next Level Human sponsors! Join Dr. Jade Teta and Emily Gough in this episode of the Next Level Human podcast as they talk about confident detachment and the idea of controlling only what is in our power to control. The concept of confident detachment involves being aware that how you organically show up in a relationship can be different from how other people show up, and managing your expectations about it to not be frustrated is the first step to preserve yourself and your emotions. Emily, who is a Coach, Speaker, and Host of the Room to Grow™ podcast, also talks about the distinction between a person, who is romantically involved with someone, having needs (in the sense of wants and desires) and being needy (being overly connected and not functioning alone). In addition, you will learn that we are all multidimensional beings living multidimensional lives so it's important to eliminate expectations coming from other people because what they do and how they behave is a sole responsibility. Hello and welcome back to the Is That Soh Podcast! Today on the podcast I have invited fellow podcaster and human connection & transformational coach, Emily Gough to come on and talk to us about the power of forgiveness and how forgiving someone who hurt you is actually for you. Like a rug ripped out from under her, Emily's life took an unexpected turn when she found out on Christmas Eve her ex had been having an affair for the last 9 years. Forced to take matters into her own hand, Emily ended the relationship, sold her house and nearly all her belongings, and booked a solo one-way ticket to the opposite side of the globe. Today, Emily inspires others through her podcast and coaching to take ownership of the circumstances life has handed them and create a deeper sense of meaning and purpose from major life transitions. Today on the podcast we are going to be talking about creating a deeper sense of meaning and purpose from major life transitions, how forgiveness can sometimes be for you and not for someone else, the benefits of forgiveness, and how to turn pain into purpose. Hearing the word networking or connection can be overwhelming for entrepreneurs, especially if you're a bit on the introverted side. But the connection is one of the greatest ways to build your business and make an impact, and it doesn't have to be in a “bro-marketing” kind of way. It can be heart-centered, which you know I love. "I was standing on the ashes of my life." Emily Gough, Human Connection Coach & Host, Room to Grow Podcast. Relationship breakdowns are always painful, even more so when infidelity is the root cause. Emily shares her journey from finding out that her relationship was not what she thought it was through to the coping mechanisms she put in place to survive. Even though, as Emily says, she was standing on the ashes of her life, she was able to learn, grow and forgive. She points out that forgiveness is for us, not for the person who hurt us. It takes a lot of resilience to work while going through difficult personal times. Emily provides ideas to help others through traumatic personal experiences. Her tips include allowing ourselves compassion, finding ways of moving our bodies, staying hydrated and nourished and asking for help. https://emilygoughcoaching.com/room-to-grow-podcast/https://emilygoughcoaching.com/More on Ford Keast Human Resources can be found here: https://www.fordkeast.com/services/human-resource-consulting/& for all the podcast and YouTube information visit our website: https://www.career-resilience.com/ If you enjoyed this podcast or our YouTube video and need support in your own career resilience please do get in contact with Jann at HR@fordkeasthrc.ca We would love to hear from you!Want to show your support? Starting a Business, Breakups & Travel With Emily Gough In this episode, we speak to Emily Gough about: Going back to school Changing careers Starting a business Relationship breakdown Travel Pros and Cons of working remotely Your money story and money beliefs About Emily Some things you may not know about her: A handful of my favourite things include deadlifts, dark chocolate PB cups and patting every dog I meet. I’ve held random jobs that include everything from working in a warehouse and bartending in nightclubs for years, to customer service at a well-known chain and managing large corporate sales accounts in the automotive industry. I have BA in Criminal Justice & Psychology, plus certifications as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and holistic nutritionist - and it all somehow led me to where I am today. Whether it’s walking, hiking, lifting heavy weights or trying to learn to love the assault bike, I’m usually in motion. I laugh a lot, even at inappropriate moments. I try to find the light in everything, and will also always encourage you to feel all the feels, otherwise, they have a habit of coming back to bite us in the ass 10X over. The hardest lesson I’ve learned is that life isn’t going to go according to plan. Ever. The faster you learn to let go of “the plan,” the more adaptable you will be and that will allow you to see and appreciate the most beautiful parts of the unexpected. “Try to limit your pain, and you will also limit your joy and capacity to love.” - Emily Gough Pain is inevitable. Joy and love are not necessarily, because they require you to open yourself up enough to truly feel. In some ways, you are the one that determines how deeply you can feel. But most of us walk around in a state of avoidance, or trying to shut down certain parts of ourselves, prevents ourselves from feelings and experiencing certain emotions because it’s uncomfortable. We don’t know how to self-soothe or how to manage the emotions and it scares the shit out of us. Particularly when it comes to love, because when we open ourselves up to love, we open ourselves up to the very likely possibility of pain and hurt at the same time. It’s about allowing for Room to Grow™ and expanding this podcast to focus on three main pillars: 1. Human connection 2. Personal Growth 3. Freedom We’ll be covering topics like: Relationships and cultivating genuine, supportive connections with ourselves and others Speaking your truth. Shattering personal barriers. Radical self acceptance. Courageously leaning into your skill sets. Whether it’s a solo episode or bringing on highly curated guests with incredible stories, experiences and expertise to share, we’re leaning in and taking the entire idea of Room to Grow™ to the next level - all while still covering the uncomfortable topics that many of us like to avoid. It’s time to expand, level up and show up boldly. To take up space and acknowledge that little twinge of knowing you’re capable of more, even if it means going against the grain. To confidently trust yourself and show up with all kinds of compassion. This is the final episode of the show! After 128 episodes, I have decided to practice that I preach, and make the tough call on priorities and pressures in my life, which means this show will be setting with the sun today. Whether that's forever or for now is not relevant because "forever" is not happening today. With all the demands on my time, I have been facing my own burnout – something I've had as a central theme in many episodes in this show. To protect and love myself, I've taken an inventory of all the things that I am committed to, where they are in the grand scheme of building toward my goals, whether they've served their purpose, and how I might be able to move forward without them. Though it was a hard decision I've grappled with for several months, ending the show here made a lot of sense. Do a Day is not going anywhere, however, with all the resources at your fingertips, as ever. You can still get the book in paperback, Kindle, Audible, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Nook and more. You can still do the Do a Day Masterclass, or sign up for 1-on-1 coaching with me. And the entire back catalog of episodes of the show will still be available for you to go back, listen to, and grow from. With all the stories and inspiration in the 127 episodes that I've released before this final one, I know there is at least one spark that every person in the world could use to start the flame that lets you Go Out and Do It! Respect for all my past guests: Season 1 I kicked the show off sharing the story of Do a Day. Charlie Gilkey shares about how being smart makes you strong. Evan Ruggiero reminds us through his cancer batter that rising up even when half of your world vanishes is possible. Amy Schuber taught us that you are the inspiration you seek. Ryan Caligiuri shared his mantra that there are no set backs, only set ups for what's next. One of my favorite artists, MC YOGI, talked about how all things grow in darkness Anne Sugar shared her battle with cancer as a way to see how you can trust your body even when it betrays you. Chris Wirth hit on his message of never quitting on living the life you deserve. David Ralph reminded us about the power in our lives if we connect the dots. Claude Silver shared her story (for the first time) of why she is who she is today and how that's showed her the importance of Heart in leadership. Elizabeth McCourt talked about the empowerment we can take from building our own resilience. Josh LaJaunie shared his story of overcoming extreme obesity--not just for himself, but for the world around him. Michael Nulty talked about his multiple suicide attempts and how he found rebirth out of depression. Mark Metry shared the importance of taking responsibility for your life and what you can achieve as a new person. My good friend, Aaron Keith Hawkins, talked about how we need to have influence over ourselves if we want to influence anyone else. Kelsey Abbott helped us Find Our Awesome through self-confidence and curiosity. She also gave me a quote I've used almost daily, "What you I say is about me. What you hear is about you." Dorie Clark reminds us of the important of perseverance and consistency if we want to achieve our greatest goals. Sonya Looney, world female mountain bike endurance champion, was just awesome, but had a key message around vulnerability and honesty with ourselves. She also gave me another gem of an idea around being stuck. Rather than being negative about the feeling, she recognizes it's a sign of something big being about to happen. Tim Fargo talked about the humility and balance we can find in unexpected places like failure. The amazing Dr. Jason Brooks shared the importance of being dedicated to finding your purpose and its transformative power on our lives. Jen Arnold shared her story around food and her weight and how that inspired her to change how we look at wellness and knowing ourselves. Lee Havern shared how he overcome depression and recognized the interconnectedness between mental and physical wellness. Emmitt Muckles left us charged up and recognizing that prosperity has nothing to do with money. Terri Levine, who lives in extreme, debilitating pain, showed how you can still find power and heart and use that to create something. Emily Gough is a podcasting and business coach, speaker and host of the Room to Grow Podcast, a space for open, honest and real discussions about tough lessons learned in life and entrepreneurship when thrown into the unexpected with the podcast regularly featured in the top 200 worldwide in its’ category. After 11 years working in the corporate world, Emily quit her job to pursue her dream career helping entrepreneurs launch their podcasts and leverage their personal stories to maximize their impact in the world. Her signature approach is all about building powerful, genuine connections and relationships with integrity at the forefront. Emily currently lives in Bali, is often mistaken as an extrovert, and always searching for more ways to be outdoors. Key Points from the Episode with Emily Gough: Emily, who currently lives in Bali but is from Canada, is an online podcasting coach helping entrepreneurs launch successful shows. Emily had been getting messages on social media from a woman with photos of her boyfriend and this woman - his ex-girlfriend. On Christmas Eve, 2018, there was a knock on the door, and was the woman, sharing those details and more, flipping Emily’s life on its head. He had been having an affair with his ex for all nine years of Emily’s relationship with him. Emily has reflected on her relationship with him, and wondered if there were signs. Looking back, there were, but she chose to trust him rather than not. This isn’t something she regrets as she would rather be a person who trusts than someone who doesn’t at all, even if it comes with pain sometimes. You grow through the experience, and, while you may have trouble trusting at times, she will still do whatever she can to choose trust. You can’t hold someone else hostage for the actions of another. Overall, their relationship had been really good, with others considering them to be a great couple, and they had been friends for years before they dated, making it harder to believe. In the wake of the realization, Emily was wrought with a great deal of self-doubt, and whether she can believe in her ability to see the truth or make the right decisions. We talked about the trade off between knowing the truth and burying your head in the sand. For some things that would just hurt to know and won’t happen again, some might decide to stay in the dark, while Emily generally wants to know regardless. She started to learn even more details that were harder to believe still, which is part of what lead her to physically get out of the situation. In the week that followed, they actually got engaged (that same night) and broke it off, and more. We talked about how staying engaged and getting married may be the right choice for some people. There is no single right choice. There used to be shame in leaving, while now there’s shame in staying. You need to make your decision for you in your context. One more thing she learned was that this ex actually lived at a house less than 200 meters away from theirs. Not only that, the house was being renovated, and he was the one doing the renovations. He had one of his family members buy the house, and made sure no one said anything to Emily, while also hiding his car if he was parked there. During the final six months of the relationship, Emily had been developing crippling anxiety, which ended virtually instantly when she ended the relationship. She also had been having issues with her menstrual cycle for the prior three years, and shared with her mother that she was afraid they wouldn’t be able to have a baby. As soon as they broke up, everything went back to normal, like her body was trying to protect her from having kids with him. It’s like her body was trying to send her a message, and as soon as the relationship ended, things fell into place. She had gone back to school but wasn’t aligned with what she was studying. In the wake of the relationship ending, she decided she was not going to force it any longer and would instead focus on something that did resonate with her. She has really found positivity in what she went through where she would not have gone after things she genuinely loves doing without that wakeup call. It’s not that she wishes this situation on anyone, but is thankful for what it allowed her to do for herself that she would have struggled to do otherwise. Her decision to share her story is about extending a hand to those who have faced this, and are scared to talk about it. We don’t want to talk about it and risk having people wonder what we did to bring this on or to deserve it. If Emily can come through it and thrive, you can, too. The feedback she’s gotten is that it has helped by making people facing infidelity not feel alone, which is empowering and supportive in a way they so needed. Finding her purpose and doing work connected to it has been so powerful. Purpose doesn’t just appear, it’s what we find and make of it. Traveling alone has done so much because it showed Emily how much she can rely on herself, and how capable she is. Another valuable thing has been asking for and accepting help. She spent a lot of time and energy hiding the truth from people. Friends didn’t know what happened, and then saw one day that she had moved to Bali, and didn’t know why. When she told them, she realized how she could have been open sooner and gotten support and love. Accepting that you don’t know what your journey is going to look like has been a big (and hard) thing for Emily. She’s always had a timeline and a plan, and this has been quite a shift for her. This allows the space for new opportunities to arise that you would not have seen otherwise. In this episode of the podcast, I'm excited to invite you into a conversation with Emily Gough -- who is one of my favorites when it comes to reflecting on vulnerability as an online entrepreneur. We discuss what it means to manage your energy, how we create safe spaces for ourselves, the line between vulnerability and oversharing, holding some thing s sacred, and explore self-trust, 'the fertile void' and even Disney princesses! Though this conversation was recorded 2 weeks into COVID-19, it is applicable way beyond the pandemic as we continue to manage our energy and show up for our clients, our communities, and ourselves.

This week we are chatting with Emily Gough, a Canadian woman, who is a podcasting and business coach, speaker and host of the Room to Grow Podcast. A space for open, honest and real discussions about tough lessons learned in life and entrepreneurship when thrown into the unexpected. The podcast is regularly featured in the top 200 worldwide in its' category. After 11 years working in the corporate world, Emily quit her job to pursue her dream career helping entrepreneurs launch their podcasts and leverage their personal stories to maximize their impact in the world. Her signature approach is all about building powerful, genuine connections and relationships with integrity at the forefront. Emily is often mistaken as an extrovert, and always searching for more ways to be outdoors. In this episode we chat about: 1) Some soul questions so you can get to know Emily, things she enjoys and things that are important to her. Such as, her favourite song to boost her spirits and we share some laughs amidst some serious conversation surrounding the current circumstances in the world around CoVid19. Emily is going lives on Instagram and Facebook every morning at 8am EST to offer connection. 2) Being an only child and a game she taught one of her best friends when she was young. 3) Emily shares about being an introvert who would usually live alone and being home with family to not be away from them for an extended period of time. With that, even if they aren't talking to you they are still in the same house and as an introvert it's important to recognize the weight of that and “find your anchors that are going to help keep you sane and still bring you joy.” 4) She shares about her discovering her fiancée had been having an on again off again affair throughout the course of their nine year relationship. She shares about the shock she and everyone felt upon receiving this information. She goes into detail about the healing journey she went through at that time. “How is this my life? When did this become my life and how did I get here and why does it feel like my life is a movie that I can't wake up from?” 5) Emily learned to tune into her intuition and create self-trust. She shares how she did this in a powerful way. “Look what I've been tolerating, for a really long time.” The physical and mental health symptoms that improved when she did what her soul was begging her to do but she had been ignoring. “The outcome will take care of itself.” “Those next chapters don't always look how we wanted them to. They don't always look how we expected them to but there's still going to be really beautiful things that can be born out of really terrible circumstances.” Connect with Emily: Website: www.emilygoughcoaching.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/emilygoughcoach/ Facebook: https://facebook.com/emilygoughcoaching.com Connect with Megan: Book healing and protective energy for your home through private message on Instagram or Facebook Instagram: www.instagram.com/meganharmonytlc Join the sacred community on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SoulsUnleashed/ --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/Soul-FULL/message

While I was showing up every day for my 9 - 5, I was hustling on the side, getting certifications and going back to school at night to become a fitness instructor and personal trainer, teaching bootcamp classes, and eventually graduated school as a Holistic Nutritionist. I thought I’d finally found THE THING I wanted to do, and started my online business working with clients for holistic nutrition and wellness. After a couple of years, I finally quit my corporate job to make a go of it. I had a podcast with a co-host, was working with clients and it seemed like things were off to a strong start. Until, after a great deal of resistance, I began to realize I’d created the wrong business. You know how sometimes you don’t realize how passionate and good you are at something until other people point it out to you? Yeah, that was me. By this point I had ended my first podcast and launched Room to Grow on my own, and with two separate podcast launches under my belt, I was fielding a lot of questions from people interested in learning how to do the same. I was eager to share what I’d learned after two different podcasts, the mistakes made along the way, and how to create something that was having an impact and that people wanted to show up for to listen to every week. I was hesitant and a little unsure of myself, but started to make the shift towards helping others create their own success podcasts and build their businesses around it. Everything completely changed when I ended my long-term relationship after I found out on Christmas Eve about infidelity that had been happening on/off for our entire 9 years together. I sold or got rid of almost everything I owned and hopped on a plane to Bali to begin my new life, and it’s been an adventure ever since. While I’d already recognized the impact podcasting could have, it was when I publicly shared my story about my relationship on the podcast that I really started to understand what a massively powerful platform podcasting could be. Not only that, but some of the hard lessons I learned in my personal life overlapped with what I wanted to do with my business as well, and things shifted when I began tuning into my intuition and listening to my gut instinct. I began embracing my multi-passionate nature and rather eclectic work history and education to bring it together in a way that helps others to change their lives and leading with impact at the forefront of everything that they do. Teaching others to recognize their own abilities and giving them the confidence to push past the fear and make the leap into something new, even when it feels scary. Putting yourself out there is scary. Living with regret about holding back is much scarier. You've thought about sharing your knowledge or story, helping others to grow through lessons hard earned through personal experiences, and if you're ready, I'm here to help you figure out how to make it happen. Podcasting is my favorite platform, because we're all craving connection, and chatting right into someone's ear is an incredibly intimate experience. Not only do you get to chat while in your bathrobe (I’m in mine right now!), but people feel like you're a real-life friend, they get to know you, and you'll often find yourself sharing everyday stories that allow people a small glimpse into your life. All this while you share your message that might be hitting someone's ears at the exact moment they needed to hear it. Connect with me at: https://emilygoughcoaching.com

In this episode we talk about: 1. Our most difficult challenges can be the gifts that redirect us to the path we were meant to be on. We can choose to make our challenges the best thing to ever happen to us. 2. The truth always finds a way to reach the surface. Hiding, avoiding, or ignoring it won’t change the truth. Whatever we resist will persist, we have to find a way to move through it in order to create change. 3. Our stories can impact, serve and support others and when we find a way to share them, we realize that we are not alone in our challenges. 4. Our intuition is our most powerful guide that is constantly directing us in one direction or another. If we want to increase our connection with our intuition, we must start listening to it, tune into its messages and follow the path it is trying to bring our attention to. 5. Our habits, rituals can completely change the direction of our life. When you aren’t sure where to start, make one small choice, decision or action that takes you in the direction you want your life to follow. 6. Podcasting is such an incredible way to connect people in an intimate way. It can be used as a method to share content, build trust and a very real way to build our businesses. My best friend was cheated on for 9 years, now what? I'm a fixer- when my friends come to me with an issue, my gut instinct is to fix everything. But with an international border separating us, it made it a lot more difficult. I couldn't just go over there and bring her coffee to cheer her up. And I could hardly offer any solutions to make it better.... so, what do you do when your friend's entire life pretty much goes up in smoke in one fell swoop? How do you support a friend in crisis?
Emily and I are back for another dual-host episode! Do you have a person in your life where it seems like every story they tell you about their life is drama-filled? Or, the tougher question: are YOU the person who is always at the center of drama? Life happens and shit hits the fan sometimes, but when drama is a constant in your life, either from yourself or from others, it's probably twisting you down a more negative path and keeping you from joy. Emily Gough of The Room to Grow Podcast is back today for her regular guest spot, and we're talking: Being solution focused vs. problem focused; identifying with emotions over facts as a way to stay stuck in drama, the ripple effect of drama (hint: it's SIGNIFIANT!), victim mindset, taking a close look at who you're surrounding yourself with, How to readjust your attitude towards drama (whether it's your own or someone else's), and how to handle drama gracefully when it comes your way. Additionally, since these joint episodes between Emily and I are going to be happening on a monthly basis moving forward, we're thinking we need some sort of name for them! I speak openly about my financial struggles here on the podcast pretty often. What I've come to learn over the years is that even though at times my financial issues were REAL (like- should I just live out of my car, or?), a lot of them stemmed from a crappy money mindset. As a business owner, it wasn't until I put money (lots of it!) on the line that things shifted for me. But before I set out to change others' lives, I was already investing in my own personal journey. I had coaches, and those coaches were also investing in coaches. There was such a disconnect between what it took to level up my fitness and what it was going to take to level up in my business. I used to think money was SACRED. Make it and hoard it- do not spend it! I used to think that having to pay someone to teach me something or mentor me meant that I sucked because I couldn't do it on my own. All of that just pointed back to a lack of trust in myself, a lack of trust in others, and a crap-ass money mindset. And ultimately, it kept me stuck. What I had to realize was that spending money is just an exchange of energy. The worst part was when I was projecting my own money issues onto my clients. "They can't afford this!" It wasn't until I realized that by keeping my prices "so low" that I was doing them a total disservice. So, how did raising my prices completely transform my clients? How did raising my prices help my clients level up? We have Emily Gough of The Room to Grow podcast on the show today! I've got my girl Emily Gough from The Room to Grow Podcast with me today, and it's a fun one! No one ever tells us how to make friends, keep them, or even how to break up with them. Yet, you can find countless resources on how to find, fix, and maintain your romantic partners. Why is no one talking about this other stuff?! Take it from the girl who, for quite some time, thought she'd be OK dying alone in a mansion surrounded by dogs (this would still be totally cool for me actually, ha!) having solid friendships into my adult life has been life changing. Shit gets heavy sometimes and having a support system outside of your partner and your parents is super important. So, what are you supposed to do when you don't want to be friends with someone anymore? What are you supposed to do if you're in your late 20's or early 30's and your need for friendships changes? We're talking all about that on today's episode! You can send your questions to the private facebook group here, send me a DM on IG @christina_montalvo or shoot me an email hello@christinamontalvo.com
I think most of us operate from victim mindset almost all of the time. There are different levels to it, and as I dive deeper into understanding how my victim mindset operates, I continue to learn how it holds many women back from living a life they can be truly obsessed about. Playing the victim card feels really good. People pity us, nothing is our fault, and there's nothing we can do to change the situation. Playing the victim role allows us to point fingers at every thing and every one else. As good as being the victim might feel- it also keeps us stuck. Stepping out of the victim role and into responsibility is one of the biggest mindset shifts you can ever make in your life. Everything from your exercise, your nutrition, your body image, your job, and even your relationships- one of the biggest changes you can make is shifting your mindset out of this space. Emily and I dive deeper into what victim mindset is, how it's holding us back, and what we can do about it. Questions? Shoot me an email! hello@christinamontalvo.com
