Send us a Text Message. What if the battles you're fighting aren't what they seem? This sermon will transform your understanding of spiritual warfare and equip you with the tools to stand firm against unseen adversities. Drawing from Ephesians 6, we delve into the necessity of God's anointing and supernatural power, reminding you that spiritual battles are never fought alone. We emphasize the importance of community, collective strength, and unwavering faith in overcoming life's challenges. We celebrate the significance of Pentecost and the fulfillment of God's promise to pour out His spirit, as prophesied by Joel. Just as locusts plagued Joel's time, we face our own spiritual locusts today—whether they're financial, familial, or mental struggles. Embrace prophetic guidance and prepare for the spiritual harvest that God promises. Focus on future blessings, stay obedient, and anticipate God's supernatural provision, even in the midst of hardship.Ever wondered about the origins of spiritual warfare? Explore the story of Satan and the fallen angels to understand that our true battles aren't against people but spiritual forces. We address how misunderstanding this can lead to fighting the wrong fights, akin to the Ghetto Boys' "My Mind Playing Tricks on Me." Learn to recognize the real adversaries and the power of the Holy Ghost in overcoming both spiritual and physical manifestations of these battles, such as anxiety and depression. Finally, we empower you to utilize your Holy Ghost gifts to bring about tangible, positive change in your community. Welcome To Chosen City Church! We are excited to you have worship with us today and we pray that this sermon blesses you!Partner With Chosen City Church:https://www.chosencitychurch.com/part...Support Chosen City Church:https://www.chosencitychurch.com/givePodcasts and More:https://linktr.ee/chosencitychurchConnect With Chosen City ChurchWebsite: https://chosencitychurch.com.comInstagram: @ChosenCityChurchYouTube: Chosen City ChurchFacebook: Chosen City ChurchIntro and outro created by Joe Anderson Jr. of Truflava Productions

Born and raised in Austin, TX, Reginald Orlando Hart Jr. A.K.A GRasta1k is the owner and music artist of GRINDTIME1K. Living with his mother and stepfather up till the age of 14, G Rasta1k was forced to find love from the streets. The older role models of the streets taught him what he needed to know to stay ahead. Adopting fairly quickly, G Rasta1k was living the life until Aug. 13th, 2016. He welcomed his first baby girl, Harmony Symone Hart into the world. Before he could really get adjusted to life as a father, his first son was born a few years later. With two children, and still heavy in the streets, G Rasta1k took his love for music to another level with freestyling. Finding inspiration from southern artists such as S.U.C, Ghetto Boys, Master P, ZRo, Lil O, Fat Pat, 8ball and MJG, Do or Die and so many more. He expanded his music range and found inspiration from Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Biggie, Jay-Z, Camron, 50-Cent, Big Pun, Big L, Michael Jackson, Prince, and so many more various artists. The one person who inspired him the most was his younger brother Silas. Silas started the brand ABM (All Bout Money). The brand was delayed due to legal problems and spending a year in jail. The summer of 2014 he returned home to finish what he and his brother had started. But the universe delivered something G Rasta1k could never imagine. The tragic death of his brother Silas caused him to fall into a deep depression and question life. This life changing event landed G Rasta1k into the Shoal Creek Mental Institution. Released finally with a better mind frame, he set out to create a brand that represents his life as a whole. The birth of GRINDTIME1K. A brand that represents grind, hustle, discipline, love, and peace. WITH THAT BEING SAID, COME DIVE INTO HIS SONG, SOMETHING SPECIAL and make sure you follow/subscribe !!! The Geto Boys (originally spelled Ghetto Boys) is an American hip hop group originally formed in Houston, Texas. The group was formed in 1987.[1] The Geto Boys enjoyed success in the 1990s with the group's classic lineup consisting of Bushwick Bill, Scarface and Willie D, earning several certified albums and hit singles, including "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" which reached No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs and #23 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] The Geto Boys earned notoriety for lyrics covering controversial topics such as misogyny, gore, psychotic experiences, and necrophilia. About.com ranked the Geto Boys No. 10 on its list of the 25 Best Rap Groups of All-Time, describing them as "southern rap pioneers who paved the way for future southern hip-hop acts."   The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a historical fiction novel by American author Taylor Jenkins Reid and published by Atria Books in 2017. The novel tells the story of the fictional Old Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo, who at the age of 79 decides to give a final interview to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant. According to Reid, Evelyn Hugo was loosely based in part on actresses Elizabeth Taylor, who was married eight times to seven different men, and Ava Gardner, who revealed the secrets of her life to a journalist which was eventually published as Ava Gardner: The Secret Conversations. Reid also discusses how Rita Hayworth was a big influence on the character Evelyn Hugo. Hayworth, whose father was a Spaniard, had a very similar start to Hugo which can be seen in the beginning of the novel.   Mind Playing Tricks on Me by Geto Boys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJtHdkyo0hc&ab_channel=UPROXXVideo Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IJCFc_qkHw&ab_channel=UPROXXVideo

Don Chief has quietly built a multimedia empire, which is growing faster than average. Coming from the bottom of society doesn't offer many options for African Americans. The state of Texas has one of the country's highest murder rates and gang violence activity. The pressure to survive in Texas produces a different type of human diamond. Historically, Texas is the founding father of multiple mainstream cultures which impact people worldwide. Their southern cuisine, candy-painted cars, eclectic sense of fashion, and rich Hip-Hop culture shine a special ultraviolet light on Texas. Hip-Hop music and Texans have a unique relationship. I'm driving down Collins Avenue on South Beach, blaring ‘My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me' by Ghetto Boys, and chills run down my arms. I'm still amazed how three black men from Houston, Texas, could create a song that reflects the mentality of every black person in America. The psychology of their music reflects the raw energy of Texas. Hip-Hop empowers, educates, inspires, heals, and transforms people's mentality within 16 bars. Entrepreneur/Major Recording Artist Don Chief is a born legend. From birth, some people lock-in with their purpose and mentally adapt to their path of greatness. Don Chief's life story is not written for the light-hearted or people seeking a path of least resistance. Don Chief's life and purpose originate from struggle, incarceration, racial bias, economic setbacks, undeniable passion for winning, and natural-born leadership. Don Chief formed Eatgreedy Music Group in 2014 and empowered himself, the local neighborhood, and his family.  Eatgreedy Music Group encompasses multiple businesses, including TV/Film, record label, artist management, and clothing. Don Chief recently was recognized by IMDB (Internet Movie Database) for his movie producer credits.  Eatgreedy Films is a premium business extension of his Hollywood vision.  Eatgreedy Films creates documentaries, short films, music videos, and community-based content. Don Chief has multiple music, TV, and film projects slated for 2021 and 2022. During COVID-19, he re-examined his blueprint and became more aggressive towards the company's master plan. Don Chief partnered with RADIOPUSHERS in late 2020 for strategic music marketing and branding. RADIOPUSHERS is a leading music monetization agency for visionary individuals.

Today we re-cast one of our favorite episodes, an interview with folklorist and Houston native Langston Collin Wilkins, who studies "slab" culture and the "screwed and chopped" hip hop that rattles the slabs and serves as the culture's soundtrack. Since the 1990s, many of Houston’s African American residents have customized cars and customized the sound of hip hop. Cars called “slabs” swerve a slow path through the city streets, banging out a distinctive local music that paid tribute to those very same streets and neighborhoods. Wilkins shows us how sonic creativity turns a space—a collection of buildings and streets—into a place that is known, respected, and loved. In this show we hear the slow, muddy, psychedelic sounds of DJ Screw and The Screwed Up Click, including rappers such as Lil Keke, Fat Pat, Big Hawk, and UGK--as well as songs by Geto Boys, Willie Dee, Swishahouse, Point Blank, Biggie Smalls, and MC T Tucker & DJ Irv. Photos by Langston Collin Wilkins. Transcript [low humming and static playing] [CRIS CHEEK] This…is…Phantom Power. [Tamborine beat blends in] Episode 7: Screwed and Chopped. [Hip hop music with vocals cuts in] Parental discretion is advised. Welcome to Phantom Power. I’m cris cheek. Today on the seventh and final episode of our first season, my co-host Mack Hagood converses with Langston Collin Wilkins. Langston is a folklorist an ethnomusicologist active in both academia and the public sector. Working as a traditional art specialist at the Tennessee Arts Commission. Mack spoke with Langston recently about his research into Houston’s unique slab, car culture. The city’s relationship to hip hop and hip hop’s to community. Enjoy. [Different hip hop music plays] [MACK HAGOOD] So before we get into the research of Langston Collin Wilkins, maybe we should get one question out of the way. Why would a folklorist be studying hip hop? Don’t they study things like folk tales or traditional music or quilting? Well, in fact the folklorist I know study things like bodybuilding and fashion and internet memes. Folklorists study everyday creativity. One contemporary definition of folklore is “artistic communication in small groups.” As Langston shows, it’s the way a town like Houston gets a look and a sound all its own, but folklore didn’t lead Langston to hip hop. In fact, it was quite the other way around. [Hip hop music cuts out] [LANGSTON COLLINS WILKINS] Back when I was a kid, around 12 years old, I received my first hip hop record, which was the “Ghetto Boys Resurrection Album”  in 1996. [A song from the album plays] Born and raised in Houston, Texas, the south side, where Scarface is from that same area. The Ghetto Boys in my hometown heroes as they are for everyone growing up in Houston in those communities. I just became obsessed with hip hop, and not just the music, but just the larger culture and community surrounding it. I was reading everything I could get my hands on about hip hop, I was watching everything, just studying the culture and that kind of continued through college. When I got the grad school, I went hoping to study hip hop in some form or fashion. It was through hip hop that I learned about folklore and became interested in it. I spent a year doing ethnographic research in Houston amongst the hip hop community there. I focus mostly on I guess the more street oriented or gangsta rappers, and we’re studying the artists and producers connection to place. I was looking at how and why these artists was so deeply connected to the city itself, apartment buildings, streets, neighborhoods,  and how these attachments and connection to place have been reproduced in their musical output. [Different hip hop song plays] Why do Houston Raptors always shout out, call out, give dedications to places that they are familiar and intimately connected with? [Several places are listed through hip hop songs] Washington, Armstrong, Mainwelles and St. Williams. Robinson, Thomas Hopes,

We will kick off the show discussing what may go down in history as the most important technology ever made. Last week Elon Musk unveils NeuraLace at a investor seminar for his company NeuraLink. Would you let Musk's surgery robot make a hardly noticeable small incision in your scalp, drill a even smaller hole in your skull, place a processor that merges tiny transistors to your Brain Neurons? We will give a brief history of the B.M.I (Brain Machine Interface). What if the entire Internet was in your Head and you can access and/or save anything you want instantly? What if I told you this could make the blind see, the deaf hear, give feeling back to amputees, cure brain trauma and mental illness? Does it Sound Cool or Does it Sound Scary? We will explain how it works and what the potential risks and rewards are with this technology.  Culture could simply be defined as a “Peoples Way of Life”. Several elements make up a Culture - Society, History, Speech, Lifestyle, Dress, Music, Dance, Art, Rituals, Stories, Pastimes, Mythology, Cuisine, Customs, Traditions, etc. Does Hip Hop Culture even exist outside of New York City? One of the byproducts of Hip Hop Culture is Rap Music and Rap Music represents 40% of all Music Media sold Worldwide. What is the current State of Rap Music? What caused the Houston based Rap Group and pioneers of Southern Rap Music, the Ghetto Boys, to break up? Since Rap Music has spread Hip Hop Culture throughout the entire World, has it resulted into a connection between Americans Blacks and Blacks outside the US?  Sent from my iPhone

In the new amplified edition of his book HOUSTON RAP TAPES, he includes new photographs and interviews (Scarface, Slim Thug, Lez Moné, B L A C K I E, Lil’ Keke, and Sire Jukebox of the original Ghetto Boys), plus custom maps of Houston that highlight major landmarks for the city's hip-hop culture. Recorded on DJ Screw's birthday, this conversation addresses how police corruption and gentrification have impacted the Houston neighborhoods that gave birth to Houston rap, tracing the scene from early rap battles among Raheem, Willie D, and Vanilla Ice to the up-and-coming H-Town artists making beats and rhymes today. We also cover the complexities of gangsta rap, the women who shaped the scene and are making music on their own terms, and the impact of the late DJ Screw.

DJ Ready Red, early DJ and producer for the Geto Boys, has died after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 53. Red (born Collins Leysath) passed away Friday (Aug. 24), according to the Geto Boys' Willie D, who posted a video on Instagram to share the sad news.   "He gave us our sound," Willie D said of Red, whom he called "the Musical Enforcer" and said was "responsible for most of the production of our early stuff and all of the sound on my first album, Controversy." "To say that he was a pioneer would be an understatement. Red was before his time," added Willie D. In 1986, Red became the first DJ and producer for the southern rap crew the Geto Boys, then know as the Ghetto Boys. He left the group in 1991 when they were recording the album We Can't Be Stopped. As Willie D pointed out, he also produced the rapper's first solo album, released in 1989.

Williams. MONEY - MAN CED LO Also Known as Lecdric Nelson an independent artist from Polk County, Florida. My life started in Bartow, FL on June 15, 1979 yet was raised in Lake Hamilton, FL making me a Florida native.  At the age of 16 is when I started to learn the ways of how to survive in what we call the street life and rapping became an outlet to allow me to tell my story. After some time of running the streets and rapping my life started to get tangled into selling drugs, smoking weed, and hanging around the wrong crowds that led to me dropping out of high school in the 10th grade.  At the age of 18 is when my issues with law enforcement all started and leading me down 18 years of experiences with the judicial system. At the age of 34 on May 4th, 2015 is when I was released from prison this is when I started to take the music game serious and made this my new way of life. Spending time in prison allowed me to set my mind on a mission that I have been on since being released to make a name for myself in the rap industry. I plan on doing this by bringing real music back as music has changed dramatically to fabrication and storytelling. Music of my generation inspired others to grow. Now it all about glorifying what we would call trials and tribulations in this life. My biggest music influences are artists like Tupac, Notorious Big, Scarface, Ghetto Boys, Ice T, Spice 1, Curtis Blow, Big Daddy Cane, and MC Lyte. Most of all my music is my story from what I have experienced to what I felt while living on this earth. Personally, I am a god-fearing man and a firm believer of God without him I am nothing. I wouldn’t consider myself as a religious person, yet I know God is in me. I am known to lead not to become a follower. This is what allows me to set trends and become the trend setter of my generation with my own style or swag. I am different from the rest I am him the real Money-Man Ced Mr. Polk County.
