Join us for the first episode of the year as we're joined by Dr. Griswald and Liana for another walk down Mod Controversy Lane.
It was the third "Vacation" comedy featuring the Griswald family- Clark. Ellen,Rusty and Audrey- and all Clark wanted to have a simple old-fashioned Christmas with family. His plan: to heavily decorate the house and roof with lights, Santa and reindeer, and to enjoy a simple Christmas dinner before celebrating the real meaning of Christmas. Instead he got uninvited family with their huge slobbering Rottweiler, an uninvited wild squirrel, electrical problems, big sewage problems, fire, and a SWAT team. Halleluyah! Tis the season for another Griswald family Christmas. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation has become an annual rewatch for many filmgoers, but not everything went as smoothly as planned during the production. This episode cuts through those problems like a chainsaw cutting down a Christmas tree. Submit any questions to reelproblemspodcast@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/reelproblems
TJ back from the weekend kicks off the show talking about a story about a household overdoing it on their Christmas decorations ticking off their neighbors, he also talks about an infuriating story of illegal hunting and poaching all this and more on News Radio KKOBSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Navigating the Holidays, Human Design StyleIf you aren't exactly thrilled with the possibility of your Holiday season matching the Griswald celebration, this episode of Unjaded is for you.The holiday season is beautiful and it's ugly. We set ourselves up with these fancy expectations, running ourselves ragged for the perfect gifts, everyone's favourite foods, and a wrap up of business activities that would make Richard Branson proud.I mean you've got BF - Cyber Monday - and all of the last minute sales strategies to close out the year strong. By the time Christmas actually arrives, we're fed up, worn out, and over it already.Today we're going to talk about a couple of areas of your Human Design and how leaning into your strengths could make the holiday season easier - dare I say, even enjoyable???What You'll Learn:How your unique Human Design will support you with boundaries and expectations, emotional energy, stress and overwhelm.Looking to the Emotional Solar Plexus (or ‘ESP') and Root Centres to help you navigate the holiday season. For the ESP Centre: identifying whether this is defined or undefined for you. Those that are undefined are highly empathetic and navigating the holidays will involve soaking up and amplifying the emotions of others. How to allow the emotions of others to flow through you and identify what is yours - and what is not. Those that are defined are designed to be emotional. Chances are, you've been conditioned not to be. Breaking through this conditioning, allowing yourself to feel the feelings and knowing that they will come in waves. For the Root Centre: identifying whether this is defined or undefined for you. Those that are undefined will feel a lot of pressure, especially during the holidays. How to ground yourself to avoid the overwhelm and give yourself space. Those that are defined have a more consistent way to manage stress (even if not currently USING it). Physical movement is very important to your design. So I know this is a lot. And it can seem like a fantasy to actually honour your design - especially over the holidays. A coach once told me that living your design is not always convenient but it's always correct. She was right.I do hope that you're able to honour at least one thing in this episode as the holidaysapproach. Where can you cut yourself some slack, according to how you're designed tolive? Road trips are one of travel's great forms of adventures. From the Griswald's cross-country family vacation to Wally World to my own explorations of Eastern Cambodia to design tours for international visitors, the road trip is a time-honored tradition. Nowadays, one might imagine traveling by camper-van to Mexico or Central America, or even renting a car in the north of Japan and driving it south from island to island, but who would ever imagine taking a road trip by car from Myanmar to Holland? Well, our guest Edwin Briels did just that, and today he's going to share how it all went down. Buckle up!
Next week's episode is about your average, fun-seeking family looking to make some memories with a family road trip, straight out of the Griswald family playbook. And sure enough, everything that can go wrong does. This episode has everything that defines a bad vacation and a “Welcome to Paradise” episode, from injuries to car accidents to yes, projectile vomiting Learn more about your ad choices. Do you have a favorite Christmas family tradition? What gets you excited about the holidays? Do you wish you had something that brought you closer together? Today I want to talk to you about building up your family using family traditions. So, I'm talking to you if: If you need some excitement back in your family. If your family has forgotten how to interact without a device. If you desire to create memories that last a lifetime. Do you remember the days without smartphones and holidays? As much as I love my phone and it's soooo convenient, I kinda miss those days. I remember as a kid drinking Tom & Jerry's (eggnogISH drink from the 1800s) in the coolest ceramic Santa and Mrs. Clause mugs at my grandmother's house every Christmas Eve. We loved them so much that I've brought those back and use those original mugs from my grandmother! So much fun! Another thing we did was cut down a real Christmas tree at a Christmas tree farm. You know, like the Griswald's walking into the forest to cut down the perfect tree and forgetting the saw and the tree being too big for the living room…yea, that. Family traditions are a great way to get people off their phones and having fun again–together. Here are three ways family traditions build up your family. 1. Build anticipation They give you something to look forward to. 2. Create memories My brothers and I still talk about Tom & Jerry's and cutting down the trees. If you're reading this, be sure to listen to the podcast to hear what my three kids have to say about their favorite family traditions. 3. Bonds people together People put down their phones and gather around during tradition moments. So, what family traditions do you want to create or add to build up your family? If you're unsure what to do, start thinking about your childhood to get ideas. Was there anything you enjoyed? We added the Tom & Jerry drinks as a tradition from my childhood. This is our third year running. My little brother even asked if we could add them to our Thanksgiving traditions because he doesn't make it up our way for Christmas. Was there anything you wished you'd done? Try it out now. We're adding bingo this year (with my grandma's bingo game - the same grandmother that had the Santa mugs) with two dollar bills for the winners. If we love it, we'll start a new tradition. And, if you're thinking, I don't have family or don't hang with my family. Keep in mind family doesn't have to mean blood. You can create traditions with friends too! Have a Merry Christmas!! You got this, and Father's got you! Thanks a bunch for listening! Until Next Time, Live Fearlessly Free!

We are coming to y'all again from the Motor City! In this episode we are imbibing the quintessential 70s cocktail – the Harvey Wallbanger. This vintage recipe is basically a “gussied up screwdriver” and it pairs with TUX's scandal that spans the 70s and 80s.
The GriswAld's are at it again, and this time they're bringing their wacky antics to EUROPE. We watched National Lampoon's European Vacation, directed by Amy Heckerling (I know, right? Who knew?) We're not going to lie and say this one is a classic or anything but we had a lot to say about it surprisingly. Episode # 268. Mark has covid, so we are replaying the interview with Bob Griswald.
It's Casual Friday! Sam hosts Jamelle Bouie, opinion columnist at the New York Times and co-host of the Unclear and Present Danger podcast, to discuss his recent piece "The Gerontocracy of the Democratic Party Doesn't Understand That We're at the Brink." First, Sam dives right into the Supreme Court's overturning of the half-century precedent of Roe v. Wade as the first major rollback of any established right in US history, the thirteen trigger laws it enacts, and the future of reproductive health when healthcare professionals are forced to weigh they own well being and security in making decisions. Jamelle Bouie then joins as he and Sam dive right into the growing divide between establishment Democrats and younger progressives in just acknowledging the horrendous state of our politics, as seen in Whip Clyburn's official response to the Roe decision stating that it was “anti-climactic,” and take on the role of the Gerontocratic leadership of the Democratic party and their ossified perspective on how politics can and does function in the 21st Century, from Pelosi's requests for a “strong Republican party” to Biden's praising of McConnell's integrity. Next, Bouie dives into his recent research into the Republican party that preceded today's neoconservatism and their shift to hard-edged partisanship, contrasting this with the Democrats' desire to triangulate in politics, as we saw with Hillary's comments on sacrificing trans people for the integrity of anti-democratic institutionalism, and refusal to acknowledge that, yes, the GOP does mean what they say. After a conversation on the future of this fight, and the other big fights coming down the SCOTUS pipeline, Sam and Jamelle wrap up the interview by assessing the 1/6 hearings, Mike Pence, and the Democratic leadership's attempted creation of right-wing heroes. Sam further dives into the other precedents (Griswald, Casey, Loving, etc) that are put in question by this decision and the absurdity of Thomas' argument that this won't set a precedent… while encouraging an extension of this decision to future cases. And in the Fun Half: Sam explores the meaning behind the Majority Report name, James Carville asks for our help, and House Democrats sing God Bless America for some unknowable reason. Katie from Providence dives deeper into the subjectivity around the abortion “exemptions,” and how the objective nature of the punishment for abortions will easily overshadow them. Shannon from the USVIs discusses supporting Black women in the US, Alan and Brendan from North Carolina reflect on the shaping of their perspectives on reproductive rights, Valerie from AZ talks constitutionality and the Supreme Court teeing up myriad elements of queer rights to be overturned, and Mindy reads a statement from the Archdiocese of New York. The crew listens to Mick Lynch's inspirational responses to the UK media's insulting coverage of their rail strike, and Ron Johnson throws Mike Kelly under the bus, to which Kelly says, “who?” Jeff Clark can't believe that Federal Agents wouldn't let him wear the pants in their relationship, plus, your calls and IMs! Sam and Emma host Mark Joseph Stern, staff writer at Slate, to preview the incoming SCOTUS opinions of the week. First, Sam and Emma preview primary Tuesday, the ever-mounting success of Starbucks unions, and remind us that much like Liz Cheney, Bill Barr is NOT our friend. Then, they're joined by Mark as they dive into this “storm before the even bigger storm” moment in the Supreme Court, first covering why the Supreme Court's summer decision dumps all come down to the end of June so they can get out on vacation, and speculating on the order of the drops when there are so many massive decisions currently pending. Next, they get into the actual issues at hand, looking to the many layers of Dobbs v Jackson, including the continued obscurity around the leak and leaker's identity, what small “cleanups” we'll see in comparison to Alito's leaked draft, and the futures of Griswald and Sodomy laws. They also dive into Andrus v Texas, looking at how the Supreme Court allowed lower-level courts to overturn the Sixth Amendment guarantee to effective assistance of counsel, practically removing habeas review and other judicial practices while still keeping their institutional image intact, and explore this deferral of the Court as an affirmation to the lower courts' that they will allow the overturning of their own precedent if it aligns with their conservative ideology. Sam then gets right into the administrative state as he, Emma, and Mark Joseph Stern look to West Virginia v EPA, discussing the role of Brett Kavanaugh's baby, the major questions doctrine, in bolstering the Court's ability to undermine the delegatory capacities of Congress and the executive branch by requiring explicit and specific congressional guidelines. After a conversation on the “activist” nature of this conservative court, they wrap up the interview by discussing the future of concealed carry with New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, and the use of coercive religious practices in public schools with Kennedy v. Bremerton. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma cover the updates on yesterday's 1/6 hearing, exploring the accusation of Trump's campaign lawyer as “an agent of the deep state” for rejecting the validity of the Dominion fraud, McClain from Iowa, Bradley's Dad from LA, AND Peter from St. Paul all dive deep into handling conversations with conservative parents and the importance of finding commonalities, as the right becomes more and more the Republican Party of (some of our) fathers. Brock from Wichita talks gun control, and Fox News displays their militant support for trans people by… telling the story of a conservative family's acceptance of their son, which of course makes Matt Walsh angry when there's an excellent documentary talking about women's bodies right there! In Episode 65, our guest is Robert Griswald of Ready Made Resources, a prepper superstore. Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid might repel people with their off-screen antics, but they and the rest of this cast do some terrific comic work in National Lampoon's 30-year-old holiday hit. The Next 175 Project has one of us gushing about this nostalgic fave while the other is set on nailing Sparky’s epic anti-boss rant. Writer/producer John Hughes’ decade-long run of beloved comedies was still in full swing at this point and Jeremiah Chechik doesn’t over-direct or get in the way of the Looney Tunes-esque gags. Christmas is only about a week away, so let the Griswolds and your humble narrators put you in the mood for the most wonderful (well, stressful, at least) time of the year. For The Record: In the 1983 Vacation, Eddie & Catherine lived in Kansas, not Nevada. Also, Ellen dodges Eddie’s attempted kiss on the lips in THIS movie. There’s a wonderful way to overcome angst about your in-laws this time of year. It’s drinking plenty of Sparkplug Coffee! A 20% discount is yours to enjoy as long as you plug in our “top100project” code at check-out. Slap us with comments: @moviefiend51 and @bevellisellis Our website: www.top100project.com Next week, we'll throw out some words about the 1994 Little Women
Luke and Jordan breakdown the Griswald's first family vacation film. Let's go down Holiday Road and see how this first vacation film stacks up.
Yes it's the return of Tuesday Tales, where I discuss stories from Back in the Day, and sometimes things from more recent games. European Vacation is a 1985 American comedy film directed by Amy Heckerling and written by John Hughes and Robert Klane based on a story by Hughes. The second film in National Lampoon's Vacation film series, it stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. Dana Hill and Jason Lively replace Dana Barron and Anthony Michael Hall as Griswald children Audrey and Rusty. After Hall declined to reprise his role (he decided to star in Weird Science instead), the producers decided to recast both children. Amy Heckerling also directed Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Look Who's Talking, and Clueless. Each episode my friend Tyler and I will analyze the editing of one iconic movie scene like this one and you can follow along. So turn on the podcast, bring up the youtube clip by clicking the link below (when we tell you) and let's get into it: European Vacation Stonehenge (https://youtu.be/vYy_TcbhcR0)
"We didn't like the old one, so it's not real anymore." -line from the commentary track for The Santa Clause 3ε. The best Christmases are the ones spent with family-- particularly somebody else's! This year we park our RV outside the Griswald's in NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION, starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Randy Quaid. It's a modern holiday classic about a jerk trying his darndest to make a nice Christmas for his family, including lil' Johnny Galecki and Juliette Lewis. Will Clark Griswald get his wish? Will Christmas be ruined by not being perfect, or by racism like in John Hughes original short story? This is a Holiday Classic, but how does it hold up today? Listen below to find out. On this week's episode of the Horror Junkies Podcast our host Mike is vacationing to Spain, so we decided that the best topic to discuss would be about horror movies that take place on vacation. The discussion begins with us talking about what Vacation Horror means to us and what are go to horror movies are within this genre. During our news segment Patrick, dug deep into the news reel to find out what's happening in the Horror Culture. First up on the chopping block. Alien Day is here finally and with that came a plethora of awesome news about the anticipated Alien: Covenant (May 19, 2017). There we numerous streams of the original movies, as well as interviews from the cast and crew. Also released were a new ling of Funko Pop figures, that include two different variations of Xenomorphs. Also announced, M. Night Shyamalan gave us the title to the sequel of Unbreakable and Split, Glass, which is going to coming to us hopefully in 2019. And unfortunately, the Horror world lost an iconic director, Jonathan Demme. The director of the truly terrifying Crime/Thriller Silence of the Lambs. In the Indie world, Camera Obscura directed by Aaron B. Koontz, starting Christopher Denham (Shutter Island & Argo) will be hosting its final screening at the Enzian Theater tomorrow Thursday 27th at 915. Camera Obscura is a movie about a young man who gets a pre-World War II camera from his fiancé. He was formerly a war photographer who has been experiencing PTSD. The new/old camera is not helping as it photographs events which have yet to occur. If you would like to find out more information about this movie head over to Paperstreetpictures.com In our Horror History segment show it was time to look into what the hell happened on this day in the world of Horror. First up, the 1953 Mark of the Vampire, directed by Tod Browning, starring Lionel Barrymore as Professor Zelin. Another film was release this day is the 1956 third adaptation in the Creature from the Black Lagoon series titled The Creature Walks Among Us, directed by John Sherwood. We also have some other death's in the Horror world. Broderick Crawford passed away at the age of 74 and Louis Peraino, producer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, passed away at the age of 59. On this week's Versus segment, we took the beloved Griswald Family and put them up against The Strangers. The Twitter polls were super close with have the Griswald's at 42% and The Strangers at 58%. We all deiced that the Griswald's would try their best to survive The Strangers, but would suffer heavy casualties, in this weeks match. Shout out to all the people who voted this week and gave us their responses. We introduced a new segment this week called "What did we Watch". Where we try to guess each others movies, based on some criteria we came up with. But it didn't work out as we hoped, because we chose hard movies to guess. So we are going to restructure the segment. This week we watched two movies to review Phoenix Forgotten directed by Justin Barber and we also watched Pool Party Massacre directed by Drew Marvick. If you have yet to watch this go do yourself a favor. As usual everyone, hit us up, join the conversation, and Stay Weird --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/horrorjunkiespodcasts/support

It's called "Mission Impossible," but by the time you hit the fifth movie, one can't help but wonder if it's really "Mission Achievable." These and other musings are included in this week's Movie Date podcast. Buckley. There's also a very special session of Movie Therapy, for folks out there seeking fun solo date nights (food and beverage pairing suggestions included!). And, as usual, there's trivia!
