This week we get to catch up with Katie Ford of Microsoft Australia, who tells us about the projects that have been happening in AI in Education around Australia, and shares some of the lessons learnt from the projects as well as what she is learning through her own research focus. The examples Katie discusses are: Tasmania Department of Education: Collaborated with Microsoft to enhance their data estate and prepare for AI applications aimed at identifying vulnerable children during COVID, helping to reveal overlooked demographics and improve interventions. University of New South Wales (UNSW): Engaged in multiple initiatives including embedding AI intelligence into complex institutional systems and processes, and developing the Academic Success Monitor to predict and intervene early with students disengaging from education. This proactive outreach is personalised and has shown positive impacts on student success rates. South Australia Department of Education: Pioneered the use of generative AI in classrooms, equipping educators with AI tools to enhance teaching and learning, making it one of the first in the world to adopt such technology at this scale. New South Wales Department of Education: Implemented AI thoughtfully to support educators, focusing on significant time savings and improved experiences in the classroom, with a commitment to reducing teacher workloads by five hours weekly. NSWEduChat Brisbane Catholic Education: Conducted a successful pilot with Microsoft Copilot, saving educators an average of 9.3 hours per week, which led to a wider rollout across the board to boost productivity and support staff well-being.  Brisbane Catholic Education to deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot to 12,500 educators and support staff, in largest rollout for K-12 globally - Microsoft Australia News Centre University of Sydney: Developed Cogniti to enable academics to control generative AI usage within their courses, facilitating the creation and monitoring of AI agents to enhance educational delivery and student monitoring. Torrens University: Used Azure OpenAI to overhaul their Learning Management System, addressing user experience feedback, enhancing accessibility, and saving both cost and labour significantly. Of course, we get diverted off course along the way, with a mention of platypus spotting, and Ray's visceral hatred of automated supermarket tills gets ha mention

This one has a bit of everything and definitely some big ahh-ha' moments for the panel (not to mention a heap of laughter) This pod definitely isn't just for those on the co-parenting journey. The tools and topics discussed in this pod are incredibly relevant to all parents.  Think about it. At times, we've all had ‘strong discussions' with our partner about what is best for our darling children. Imagine how heightened those discussions would be in a co-parenting environment.  If you're always looking for tips, tools and some solid experience shares on how to improve comms with your partner and children, this one is well worth the listen Enjoy! __________ TODAY'S GUEST KATIE FORD Web:  https://katieford.com.au/  Instagram:   https://www.instagram.com/katieford.com.au/  __________ TODAY'S SPONSOR Baseline Activewear Are you ready to raise your baseline? Then, Dom updates the climate around Philadelphia's Mayoral Race with Election Day tomorrow, playing back clips from a Helen Gym event over the weekend featuring Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Then, Dom tells of his continued disappointment in the Delaware County GOP with their push to replace Mike Zabel with Katie Ford in the next election, explaining why he believes they should've pursued somebody like Jeff Yass, a proponent for charter schools, for more funding and potential success. Then, Dom welcomes former Congressman and current Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party Bob Brady back onto the Dom Giordano Program to hear the longtime political staple's thoughts on tomorrow's primary election to determine the Democratic choice for Philadelphia's Mayoral election. If Philadelphia history holds true, who wins tomorrow will most likely win the general election against Republican David Oh, a great candidate in a highly Democratic City. First, Brady and Giordano discuss candidate and front-runner Helen Gym, who Brady suggests is hurting the Party with her divisive way of running her campaign. Then, Dom asks for Brady's thoughts on the other candidates, with Brady suggesting that support is strong enough for Cherelle Parker to make a push to usurp Gym as the prevailing candidate. In addition, Dom asks whether Brady and the Democratic Party in Philadelphia is at all concerned about Republican front-runner David Oh. (Photo by Getty Images)

Have you ever felt like you weren't qualified enough to be treating the animal standing in front of you? You are not alone.  Join me as I chat with Dr. Katie Ford about her experiences with imposter syndrome and why they led her to dive deep into  this topic. She is a wealth of information and I cannot thank her enough for sharing what she's learned along her journey....About Dr. FordMy name is Katie, I live in beautiful Saddleworth just outside Manchester, UK. I'm a happy space-nerd, obsessed with Gary Vaynerchuk and I love racoons. Getting outside walking makes my heart glow, as does spending time with my partner and our two ridiculously fluffy cats. I love the gym, learning mountain biking, fitness and have done the odd mud run. I'm obsessed with gratitude, its anecdotal and more scientifically proven effects. I come up with new and crazy plans on the regular, and I am fascinated with human potential.I'm passionate about positive mindset techniques and helping others with them too; I trained as a coach, broadband consciousness trainer & cognitive behaviour therapy. I've also been mentored and still am, by one of Bob Proctor's top mindset coaches in the world, who I'm lucky to call a good friend. I'm also a vet, who works in small animal practice and has an advanced certificate in internal medicine, I've been lucky to be doing this for nine years now. ⁣Five years ago, this would have been a very different introduction. I would have started with "my name is Katie, and I'm a vet." All of my worth was on my job title; this was a double-edged sword. The profession is amazing, but I left all my hobbies behind. I became overworked (on my own terms), feeling like a fraud for any achievement and constantly chasing happiness. I put myself under more stress than clients, colleagues or patients ever did; I chased perfection constantly, staying longer and longer to disaster prevent. My brain looked for things that went wrong, and tortured me, however minuscule they appeared externally. It was mentally and physically unsustainable. I had achievements galore, everything external that I could want... but internally, I was in a civil war. I felt like one person went and achieved all this stuff externally, and then internally, I felt like a worthless fraud.⁣The good news was that through lots of methods, help from many sources, harnessing my thoughts, and recognising my personal value...my life is totally transformed. I've since started multiple businesses of my own & grown a social media following of over 12,000. You'll also find me speaking about imposter syndrome on many stages from WellVet to the Global Vet Career Summit, a myriad of podcasts, and recently keynote speaker at BVNA. In 2020, I published a book called "To an amazing vet", with versions for vet nurses and receptionists available too.I feel lucky every day to know the content that I post about, hence I constantly try to share what I have learned, and why I trained in these methods myself. I love to help people to reconnect with themselves, the real them, and that's not always who we think that we are. Imposter syndrome is something that is often experienced by the most public and seemingly confident of people. Jonny Wilkinson ex rugby World Cup winning rugby player can be heard discussing how he constantly doubted himself leading to compulsive behaviours. In this session Paul Horwood and Tim Bradshaw are joined by Vet and Imposter Buster @Katie Ford. The team discuss their own experiences and how it is vital for leaders to be open and supportive. One message that we hear time and time again from our guests here at the VetVault is that success, or happiness, or fulfilment or performance or whatever you want to call it, starts in your head. In this episode we explore what's happening inside that head of yours, and how we can influence it for the better. Veterinarian, public speaker and coach Dr Katie Ford graduated from the University of Liverpool in the UK in 2012 and gained her certificate in medicine in 2016. Externally she was very successful: she had a great career, she was a successful clinician who was loved by clients, she was one of the youngest vets ever to pass the certificate synoptic exam. The future looked bright, but internally things were a bit more complicated. She was at the mercy of her perfectionist imposter brain. That voice inside her head, the one that keeps you at work hours and hours after your shift ended while you double and triple check everything, was telling her that she was a fraud, and that she would never be good enough. With the power of mindset, consciousness and an understanding of the internal workings of her brain, Katie turned her life around. She has trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Broadband Consciousness and also completed programmes under the father of personal development himself, Bob Proctor of the Proctor-Gallagher Institute. Katie is passionate about positivity in practice, awesome workplace culture and career fulfilment. She currently practices as a locum veterinary surgeon across the North West, finding joy in meeting and influencing her colleagues in practice and though official coaching for vets and nurses on a 1:1 and group basis. Join us as we talk to Katie about imposter syndrome - what it is and how to identify and deal with it, about ways to train your mind and trick your body through visualisation, why we should be happy to sometimes be a failure, how to celebrate your wins without depending on them for your self-worth, and much more. The poems in Katie Ford’s fourth collection implore their audience—the divine and the human—for attention, for revelation, and, perhaps above all, for companionship. The extraordinary sequence at the heart of this book taps into the radical power of the sonnet form, bending it into a kind of metaphysical and psychological outcry. Beginning in the cramped space of selfhood—in the bedroom, cluttered with doubts, and in the throes of marital loss—these poems edge toward the clarity of “what I can know and admit to knowing.” In song and in silence, Ford inhabits the rooms of anguish and redemption with scouring exactness. This is poetry that “can break open, // it can break your life, it will break you // until you remain.” If You Have to Go is Ford’s most luminous and moving collection.

Katie Ford is all in but it took her reaching a defining moment in her life where she could no longer wear two uniforms. One uniform was her 20 year career as a Writer, Editor and Reporter for numerous high level magazines and newspapers and the 2nd uniform kept her awake at night. It gnawed at her night and day until she knew that this was to be her life’s mission. How does someone’s life mission turn, just like that? Everything changed for Katie in 2010 when she stepped into a woman’s prison in Lockhart Texas, and she started listening to the stories of these women. Up to this point she had been mentoring children of incarcerated inmates and had built up a lot of blame towards these people. These inmates were the ones that had made the mistakes which meant that they had abandoned their kids in the world outside of prison…right? Katie’s anger and blame melted away one traumatic story at a time. From that moment on, she knew what she wanted to do. It became her life’s mission to help these women break a lifetime of trauma by sharing their stories but Katie didn’t know the how. How she was going to do it. How was she going to pay for it and turn this into her new livelihood and career. She held the panic at bay, took the biggest chance of her life and left that first uniform behind. In this episode we discuss... Listening to these incarcerated women's stories about a lifetime of trauma including physical and sexual abuse. Realizing that these women were 'largely invisible'. Leaving a 20 year career as a Writer, Reporter and Editorial Director with multiple magazines and newspapers. What event led up to her ending her entire livelihood in the summer of 2016. Why not telling anyone gave her the courage to stick with her decision to resign. Holding her initial panic at bay and embracing the freedom, relief and opportunity. Developing the Healing Trauma program that heals through storytelling. Partnering up with American Youth Works to cut through the red tape of starting a nonprofit. Becoming the Executive Director of Truth Be Told. "I realized that one of the uniforms that I was wearing didn't fit anymore so I had to leave it behind." Bernardita García is a twenty-nine year-old Chilean journalist who is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at UC Riverside. For the last two years, she has worked as a ghostwriter. In 2016, her children’s book “La Ballena Jorobada” (The Humpback Whale) was given an award by the Municipality of Santiago, Chile. She's a paws-and-tails lover and was the coordinator of Chile’s largest animal rights campaign: #NoSonMuebles. Her writing is influenced by Latin American social changes, women’s struggle and her generation’s quest for its own identity.   Lorelei Baughman has spent her life in California, with interludes in France and the San Juan Islands. She’s been in sales, driven a taxi, and owns a business. Now that she’s writing, she looks back most fondly on driving the taxi. She writes short stories, and graduated from UC Riverside in 2015 with a BA in Creative Writing. She loves teaching almost as much as she loves writing, and has conducted a Creative Writing class at the Chino Women’s Correctional Facility. She has been published in Bravura and Mosaic. Her stories are about ordinary people in Las Vegas and Nebraska, but she secretly wants to write about angels and genii wielding scimitars up in the ozone, inflicting their whims on the grocery clerks and civil engineers below.  She lives in Temecula, California with her husband and dogs. Ashanti Anderson earned her B.S. in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana. Before officially deciding to pursue her goals as a writer, she was a research assistant in a lab that studied the effects of music on the cognition of individuals with dementia. She has published poetry, creative non-fiction, essays, and research articles through various print and electronic publications. Her interests include psychology, theology, cooking, and nature, and she usually (sometimes unintentionally) incorporates at least two of those into every piece that she writes. Alicia Mosley was born in Santa Cruz, California and spent most of her life with one foot in Northern California and the other in Southern. In her writing, she is interested in exploring the ways people straddle the intersections of place, culture, and time. Alicia currently lives in Riverside with her four children and is working on her first novel. Emily Margaret Wells writes true stories (journalism) and obliquely true stories (fiction). She is working on a novel about art, family and religion, which she plans to complete during the MFA at UC Riverside. Formerly a newspaper reporter, fashion model and ballet dancer, she lives and works with a nameless cat.

“It is only when you can name your prison that you can do the terrifying, but life affirming and necessary work of setting yourself free.” Katie Ford went to prison thinking it was her job to inspire the women there. A writer by trade, she volunteered to teach a writing workshop to incarcerated women, downloading classroom rubrics from the Internet and hoping to apply herself to something a little bit more meaningful. What she got was so much more. In helping incarcerated women write the stories of what they believe led them to prison, Katie began to identify her own “prison” — the first critical step in her personal liberation. In this CreativeMornings/Austin talk on Freedom from May 2014, Katie explores the confines of prison: for the women she mentors and for herself.
