Time doesn't pass the same when shjva's behind the decks. It folds in on itself like a bad trip or a perfect sunrise. Born in Lutsk, now deeply rooted in Warsaw's underground, she's been building her sound through Penumbrum (her label label & party), as co-owner of Qualia Records and through holding a long-standing residency at the city's beloved Jasna Club. Across past releases for Viscera Transmissions, Brutaż, Warning, People & Places and Common Ancestors, shjva's sound is always developing and always morphing. Her live sets and collabs with Volodymyr Gnatenko and Stereometrix stretch that sound even further, which sits somewhere between dub techno, dream states, and the kind of melancholic jazz you'd hear drifting out of a broken speaker at the afters. It's hypnotic and deep. Today's Wednesday Alternative mix is a love letter to minimalism, recorded using a prototype rotary mixer built by shjva's Polish friend Kamilescu, the mixer is raw, tactile and beautiful, just like this set which contains deep cuts and spaced out percussion. This is vinyl only recording that touches the ear on the softest pressure points, all day listening to create a brisk morning atmosphere.

This is TRT World's Daily News Brief for Tuesday, August 15th. *) Afghanistan's Taliban government marks two years of return to power Afghanistan's Taliban government has marked the second anniversary of their takeover of the country with celebrations and a public holiday, issuing a defiant statement commemorating their surge back to power. A statement from the authorities early Tuesday hailed a victory that was able to “pave the way for the establishment of the Islamic system in Afghanistan”. The international community continues to grapple with how, and if, to engage with the Taliban authorities, with restrictions on women's rights being a key obstacle. *) A rights group says it can't get access to detained officials in Niger Human rights activists in Niger say they have been unable to gain access to top political officials detained after mutinous soldiers ousted the democratically elected president nearly three weeks ago. The junta has been holding President Mohamed Bazoum, his wife and son under house arrest in their compound in the capital. Those close to Bazoum say his electricity and water have been cut off and he's running out of food. The junta says it plans to prosecute Bazoum for “high treason” and undermining state security. If convicted, he could face the death penalty, according to Niger's penal code. *) Two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in West Bank Israeli forces have shot and killed two Palestinians, including a 16-year-old, in a military raid in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials said. “Two young men were rushed to the hospital with bullets in their chests,” the Jericho Hospital's director said early Tuesday. The Palestinian Health Ministry identified those killed as Qusay al Walaji, 16, and Mohammed Nujoom, 25. The raid took place in the Jericho area, which has seen heavy fighting over the last 16 months. The Israeli military had no immediate comment. *) Russia strikes western Ukraine in deadly large-scale air attack Russia has launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine's western region of Lviv and the northwestern region of Volyn, killing three people, injuring others and forcing evacuations, officials said. Ukrainian media reported that according to preliminary information, Tuesday's attack was the largest air assault on the Lviv region, which borders NATO member Poland, since the start of Russia's offensive. Governor of Volyn, Yuriy Poguliaiko, has said Russia's air strikes on the city of Lutsk killed three people and left several wounded in hospital. And finally… *) Georgia slaps mobster law to indict Trump, others in 2020 election plot Donald Trump and 18 others have been indicted in Georgia for scheming to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state. Prosecutors have turned to a statute normally associated with mobsters to accuse the former president, lawyers and other top aides. The 97-page indictment details dozens of acts by Trump and his co-defendants to undo his defeat in the battleground state. It also outlines a scheme to tamper with voting machines in one Georgia county and steal data. As indictments mount, Trump — the leading Republican candidate for president in 2024 — has been portraying himself as the victim of Democratic prosecutors during his campaigning and fundraising. “Don't do something that you can't see yourself doing for the rest of your life.” -Steve Lutsk Finding time to exercise and get in shape is a real struggle for us, men. After all, there's always something else to do—whether it's changing diapers or making dinner, or running our business. But here's what I know: if we're going to be healthy and fit for life, then we need to make time for ourselves. In fact, if we look closely, we have lots of opportunities to make small changes in our lives that will help us feel good about ourselves and get healthy in the process. The problem is that we've been trained to think that a healthy lifestyle is something that only the most hardcore of people can achieve. But guess what? Being healthy isn't a competition between you and your body. It's not about how many squats you can do or how many miles you run every week. It's about making sure your body has the tools it needs to function at its best, in any situation, while still being fun and enjoyable. It doesn't have to be so complicated! We have to remember that our fitness journey is as important as the other aspects of our lives. Therefore, I am thrilled to interview LA personal trainer, Steve Lutsk in this week's episode. Steve has gone from being a skinny-fat nerdy Jewish kid to a fitness pro. Seeing how much this is affecting his social life and self-esteem, he finally decided to make small changes. Steve has been helping his clients get rid of their dad bods and be in shape for 10 years now. Listen in as Steve and I talk about how much time we really need to get fit and you'd be happy to hear that it's not that much! We also discuss facts about intermittent fasting, fasted workouts, diet tips, the importance of tracking our progress, how the quality of our sleep affects our results, and the best way to start our fitness journey, and more! Steve Lutsk is a fitness coach, and creator of the Dad Bod Solution. He was once depressed, self medicating and dependent on excessive use of drugs and alcohol. After years of failing health programs, trying diets, and working out excessively, he began a lengthy period of research which led to the creation of his own program, one that, despite a busy schedule, and his own genetics transformed you into someone living at their physical peak performance. Steve believes in investing in solutions, leaving one's comfort zone, unleashing the inner warrior, and living to the fullest. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cutting-for-sign/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cutting-for-sign/support

Lutsk, Dnipro and Ivano-Frankivsk are among those targeted and President Putin calls for Syrian volunteer fighters to join the invasion. Also, we hear from Irpin, where thousands of people emerge from bombed houses and basements, and the Chinese city of Changchun imposes a strict Covid lockdown.
"There's no safe place in Ukraine anymore." Ukraine's western cities of Lutsk and Ivano-Frankivsk have been hit. There are scenes of destruction too in Dnipro, a strategic centre, as Russian forces widen their attacks across the country. Military expert Justin Bronk talks Victoria, Gabriel and Vitaly through Russia's progress. We also hear from a 19-year-old student in Lutsk who thought he was safe after fleeing the capital but overnight was woken up for the first time by the sound of war. As Putin invades Ukraine, I spoke with my Ukrainian friend, Taras Matora, who lives with his family in Lutsk. He breaks down the current situation in his village; the airstrike alarms, the bomb shelter he just helped build, the preparation for possible gun battle, (his friend asks him for bullets during our recording), and why he doesn't believe outside military help is the answer. He also speaks about the importance of retaining joy and invoking a sense of normalcy.

From Ukraine, based in Berlin, @cadihh started DJing in 2018. Through the years, her passion for different genres of electronic music grew, and she started to develop herself into minimal and experimental music, with appearances in local clubs and festivals like Humboldthain Club, IPSE, Paloma Bar, MIT DIR - Festival and more. She also played on some events in Ukraine (Kyiv, Lutsk) and Serbia (Belgrad). 2020 marked a change with a new music approach for Cadih: exploring and diving deep into fast techno, trance and psytrance music, she is now building energetic & emotional sets with a precise selection of the finest tracks. Her last sets and podcasts definitely affirm this new style: an intense and fast race, combining energetic rhythms with playful trance melodies. Supporting alternative initiatives, Cadih took part and played at several underground events around Berlin and private parties in order to keep the freedom spirit & vibe alive. Her first production of experimental music is going to be released on Kōrero and we this is her ambient/experimental podcast for our show.

Cathedral, museum, mosque: Hagia Sophia The first Friday prayers have been said at Istanbul's Hagia Sophia, after a court ruling ended its museum status. It was built as a cathedral 1500 years ago, then became a mosque after the Ottoman conquest. In the 1930s it was made into a museum, and now it's a mosque again.
