Mas, ao escutar as leituras de hoje, não consigo deixar de ver nelas a mesma verdade fundamental: a paixão de Deus por cada um de nós, o amor gratuito, excessivo e misericordioso com que Ele nos ama.Muitas vezes, porém, crescemos com uma imagem deturpada de Deus: “porta-te bem para Jesus gostar de ti”, “faz isto para Deus gostar de ti”, “não faças aquilo, senão Deus deixa de gostar de ti”. São frases que parecem piedosas, mas estragam a nossa relação com Deus, porque nos fazem pensar que o seu amor tem de ser comprado, merecido ou conquistado.A primeira leitura mostra exatamente o contrário. Deus diz a Israel: “Vistes o que Eu fiz ao Egito, como vos transportei sobre asas de águia e vos trouxe até Mim.” Primeiro, Deus liberta. Primeiro, Deus chama. Primeiro, Deus faz o bem. Só depois propõe a aliança e convida o povo a viver de acordo com essa experiência de libertação. A obediência não é o preço do amor de Deus; é a resposta agradecida de quem já foi amado.São Paulo diz o mesmo de forma ainda mais forte: “Quando ainda éramos fracos, Cristo morreu pelos ímpios.” Cristo não morreu por nós quando já éramos santos, perfeitos ou merecedores. Morreu por nós quando éramos fracos, pecadores, incapazes de nos salvar a nós mesmos. É esta a loucura de Deus: Ele ama-nos antes de qualquer mérito nosso. Podemos ser frágeis, incoerentes, uns pequenos diabinhos; mesmo assim, Deus não deixa de nos amar.O Evangelho concretiza esta verdade. Jesus vê as multidões e enche-se de compaixão, porque andavam fatigadas e abatidas, como ovelhas sem pastor. Jesus não começa por julgar, criticar ou condenar. Começa por se comover. Começa por sofrer com o sofrimento dos outros. E depois envia os discípulos. Isto é decisivo: ser cristão não é, antes de tudo, saber muitas coisas ou fazer muitas atividades. Ser cristão é participar na compaixão de Deus.A pastoral, a oração, a Eucaristia, a vida cristã inteira deveriam nascer desta certeza: Deus ama-nos. Se rezamos, celebramos e servimos, não é para comprar Deus, nem para o convencer a olhar para nós. É porque já fomos olhados, amados e alcançados pela sua misericórdia. A conversão começa aqui: deixar os nossos esquemas humanos, marcados pelo cálculo, pelo medo e pela recompensa, e aprender a mentalidade de Jesus Cristo.Por isso, Jesus diz: “Não sigais o caminho dos gentios.” Isto quer dizer: não entreis na lógica do mundo, na lógica do interesse, da troca, do prestígio ou da recompensa. Ide aos que estão perdidos, anunciai que o Reino dos Céus está próximo, curai, levantai, libertai. O amor recebido de Deus torna-se amor oferecido aos outros.Podemos chamar a isto um estilo samaritano, uma espiritualidade hospitaleira. Ser hospitaleiro é acolher o outro na sua diferença, sem o julgar nem o reduzir ao que eu penso dele. É dar-lhe não apenas aquilo que eu acho que ele precisa, mas aquilo de que ele efetivamente precisa. E isto vale também para Deus. Acolher Deus é acolher o diferente, Aquele que não cabe nos nossos esquemas. Não há ninguém mais diferente de nós do que Deus.Por isso, deixar-se amar por Deus é fácil e difícil. É fácil, porque a nossa vida está cheia de sinais do seu amor. Mas é difícil, porque temos orgulho, feridas, medos e histórias que nos tornam desconfiados diante de uma bondade tão grande.O Evangelho termina com uma frase luminosa: “Recebestes de graça; dai de graça.” Recebeste como dom; oferece como dom. Dar de graça é dar sem esperar aplauso, resultado ou reconhecimento. É cumprir a vontade de Deus sem esperar recompensa que não seja fazer a sua vontade.Humanamente, isto é difícil. Precisamos de reconhecimento e cuidado, também connosco próprios. Mas a raiz da vida cristã permanece esta: antes de tudo, fomos amados gratuitamente por Deus. E é dessa gratuidade recebida que nasce a gratuidade oferecida.

Secondo un'indagine Nielsen IQ per Audible, gli ascoltatori di audiolibri in Italia sono cresciuti del 16% negli ultimi 5 anni e ne parliamo con Rachel Ghiazza, responsabile dei contenuti di Audible a livello globale. Per quanto riguarda le serie tv e i film tratti da libri, un'altra indagine Nielsen IQ per Netflix ha messo in evidenza come le vendite subiscono un'impennata (+200%), non solo nelle settimane del debutto sul grande o piccolo schermo, ma anche in una fase successiva. TEMPO DE REFLETIR 01768 – 18 de maio de 2026 Jeremias 2:13 – Eles Me abandonaram, a Mim, a fonte de água viva; e cavaram as suas próprias cisternas. Ainda existem lugares distantes dos grandes centros em que podemos encontrar água cristalina que desce em pequenas cascatas que vêm das montanhas. Em contraste com a água corrente, temos as cisternas. Em caminhadas mato adentro, podemos encontrar poços ou cisternas abandonados. Cisternas com água estagnada, turva, com uns poucos peixinhos tentando sobreviver. Ao redor, musgo, rãs e tartaruguinhas. Nada atraente ou chamativo, mesmo sob o sol mais causticante possível. Água da fonte ou de cisterna? Com qual das duas você prefere satisfazer sua sede? Embora o povo de Israel tivesse à sua disposição água da fonte, insistia em fazer suas próprias cisternas em rocha calcária que, devido à porosidade, não armazenava água. Não é de admirar que Deus esteja chamando a atenção de Seu povo pelas escolhas que está fazendo, dizendo: “Não aceite imitações ridículas do verdadeiro.” Deus sabe quão sedentos estamos. É Ele que tem a água que nos pode satisfazer. Tudo aquilo que procuramos para satisfazer nossa necessidade fora de Deus é uma cisterna rachada; mesmo assim, alguns continuam correndo equivocadamente em direção a essas fontes. Dentre os muitos convites que Jesus pronunciou enquanto esteve na Terra, um dos mais bonitos foi feito numa ocasião festiva, no último dia da Festa dos Tabernáculos. As pessoas que vinham assistir a essa festa, além do magnetismo do encontro com os amigos, tinham também profundos anseios de uma vida melhor. Muitos acalentavam esperança de dias melhores. No fim da festa, sem ter recebido as bênçãos que tanto desejavam, para as pessoas as cerimônias se assemelhavam a cisternas rotas. Foi a elas que Cristo Se dirigiu, dizendo: “Se alguém tem sede, venha a Mim e beba” (Jo 7:37). Jesus está dizendo hoje: “Quem beber da água que Eu lhe der nunca mais terá sede” (Jo 4:14). “O brado de Cristo ao coração sedento ecoa ainda, e apela para nós com poder ainda maior do que aos que O ouviram no templo, naquele último dia da festa. A fonte está aberta para todos. Aos cansados e exaustos, oferecem-se os refrigerantes goles da vida eterna” (O Desejado de Todas as Nações, p. 454). Reflita sobre isso no dia de hoje e ore comigo agora: Senhor: mata a minha sede, Pai! Por favor. Quero beber cada dia da Tua Palavra; beber dos Teus ensinamentos, da vida que vem de Ti. Por favor. The Curtis Chamber Orchestra will perform music for strings by Barber and Beethoven at the Musical Instrument Museum, Saturday, May 23rd. The program will also include Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola with Erin Keefe and Roberto Diaz as soloists. Une découverte remarquable vient d'être annoncée par la Société Archéologique de Namur (SAN) et le Musée Diocésain de Namur. Lors de la préparation d'une exposition consacrée à l'histoire de l'ancienne abbaye cistercienne de Marche‑les‑Dames, les chercheurs ont réalisé qu'un feuillet conservé au Musée Diocésain — jusque‑là considéré comme un simple fragment isolé — était en réalité la première page d'un manuscrit conservé à la SAN. Comme un puzzle enfin complété, la page orpheline a retrouvé son manuscrit d'origine. Les deux institutions possèdent en effet plusieurs manuscrits provenant de l'abbaye, dont le patrimoine fut dispersé au XIXᵉ siècle après la suppression des communautés religieuses. Ces documents — livres de chants, antiphonaires, fragments liturgiques des XVe et XVIe siècles — témoignent de la vie spirituelle des moniales cisterciennes. L'étude approfondie du manuscrit a réuni plusieurs spécialistes : Anne‑Emmanuelle Ceulemans, conservatrice au MIM et professeure à l'UCLouvain et à l'IMEP Aurore Carlier, conservatrice des collections de la SAN Hélène Cambier, conservatrice du trésor de la cathédrale et du Musée Diocésain Leur collaboration a permis de mettre en lumière cette redécouverte exceptionnelle, qui enrichit la compréhension du patrimoine liturgique de Marche‑les‑Dames. Onelia Fineschi (1921 – 2004) was one of the finest Italian lyric sopranos of her era. Probably most famous today for having provided the singing voice of Gina Lollobrigida in a 1948 filmed version of Pagliacci, she had a wide-ranging repertoire and an up-and-down career trajectory that lasted, however, nearly 25 years. Initially I became interested in Fineschi because one of my listeners gifted me with a visually arresting Cetra LP of her 1947 recordings of various opera arias, which, upon listening, revealed an equally arresting and technically solid voice with a characteristically Italian timbre. But the more I explored what little I could about her, several issues that emerged seemed particularly relevant to Women's History Month. For instance, many 20th century female singers had truncated careers or complicated personal lives because of the demands that their voices made upon their lives. I uncovered some ambiguous comments regarding Fineschi's marriage to the tenor Francesco Albanese (1912 – 2005), that seemed to imply that this may have been the case with her. Furthermore, much of the standard repertoire that she sang bears out the contention of French philosopher, scholar and author Catherine Clément that opera enacts “the undoing of women.” Nearly every excerpt I play explores this theme, from the “slutty” Nedda in Pagliacci (who, we are led to believe, as a free spirit, gets what she deserves) to Tosca, Manon, Mimì, Margherita in Mefistofele, Desdemona, Leonora de Vargas, Maddalena di Coigny, and Cio-Cio-San, all of them expiring, sometimes gently, sometimes violently to the most glorious music. So apart from simply resuscitating a fine lyric soprano, this episode at least scratches the surface on the topic of women in opera from a feminist vantage point, centering around the problems of inherent misogyny and sexual abuse of women that is practically baked into the business itself. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the current state of the MBA admissions season. We continue to see several top MBA programs rolling out their Round 2 interview invites. Next week UPenn / Wharton and INSEAD are scheduled to release their interview invites and we speculate that MIT Sloan will, too. We then briefly discussed our new interview prep tool,  Clear Admit's MBA Interview simulator  Thus far, we have seen broad adoption of this tool, and we expect word to continue to spread! The MBA interview simulator is trained on Clear Admit's extensive catalogue of interview resources including our interview archive and interview guides.
