The Hidden (1987) Directed by: Jack Sholder Starring: Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Nouri, Claudia Christian, some other sluggy fuckers It's the 80s, and Kyle MacLachlan is in it, so you know it's gotta be weird. He plays an out of town FBI agent who's tracking down a series of crimes committed by people with no previous record and gets teamed up with Michael Nouri - the local LAPD detective on the case. Here's what IMDB has to say about The Hidden - "A cop and an FBI agent race for answers after law abiding people suddenly become violent criminals." Hmmm, not much to go by there. "They don't allow short people in Hollywood." Flashdance (1983) directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Jennifer Beals, Michael Nouri and Jumbo Red Next Time: Soapdish (1991)
The Hidden is a R rated film of car chases, alien parasites, and a crime mystery gone wrong. In this action packed 1987 cult classic many genres are blended together to create this interesting tale.An FBI agent and a local LA cop team up to hunt down a bizarre criminal that has killed, stolen and has been on a terror spree. Little does the local cop know, but he is in for a wild ride that involves a extra terrestrial mystery. The both keep following a string of murders from seemingly random people but eventually realize they are actually after an alien symbiote who has enjoyed their life on earth a little too much.Directed by Jack Sholder, and starring Kyle MacLachlan as Lloyd, Michael Nouri as Tom, Claudia Christian as Brenda, and William Boyetts as one of the hosts. Also with a special appearance of Danny Trejo as the punk in jail.

Welcome back to the Bad Dads Film Review, where today we're diving into the cult classic depths of The Hidden (1987), a film that blends the thrills of sci-fi, the pace of action, and the intrigue of crime drama into one unforgettable cinematic experience. The Hidden, directed by Jack Sholder, is a gem from the late '80s that may not have dominated the box office but has since garnered a loyal following for its innovative take on the alien invasion trope. The film sets itself apart by embedding its extra-terrestrial terror in a gritty, urban crime story. The story kicks off with a seemingly straightforward crime spree, but we quickly learn there's an alien entity hopping from body to body, driving its hosts to commit violent acts. Enter FBI agent Lloyd Gallagher (played by Kyle MacLachlan), who knows more about this interstellar threat than he initially lets on. Partnered with a seasoned LAPD detective, Tom Beck (Michael Nouri), the duo embarks on a mission to stop this alien force before it can complete its mysterious mission. The Hidden thrives on its blend of genres, offering more than just your typical '80s action or sci-fi fare. It delivers car chases, shootouts, and a compelling mystery, all while exploring themes of identity, humanity, and the unseen threats among us. Kyle MacLachlan's performance, fresh off his role in "Blue Velvet," adds a layer of intrigue and otherworldliness perfectly suited to the film's tone.Despite its initial under-the-radar release, The Hidden has since been recognized for its creativity, influence on the genre, and as a launching pad for Kyle MacLachlan. It's a film that deserves a spot in the conversation about the best sci-fi action movies of the '80s, thanks to its smart script, tight pacing, and innovative concept. So, whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer curious about this cult classic, The Hidden is a thrilling ride from start to finish, proving that sometimes the best cinematic treasures are the ones you have to dig a little deeper to find. Join us on Bad Dads Film Review as we uncover the legacy, the lore, and the lasting appeal of The Hidden.

Tread Perilously's Ampersand Month continues with an episode of the obscure sitcom Love & War called "I Love a Parade." The gang manages to get a fairly decent spot for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, even if they all forgot to buy coffee with their donuts. The festivities take a turn when a random woman asks Jack to hoist her son up on his shoulders so he can see the floats. She soon disappears, leaving the others to search for her. Meanwhile, Dana and Jack discuss the best course action. Will they end up raising the child as their own or will a Thanksgiving miracle save the day? Erik and Justin get lost in the woods right quick. The show's supporting cast, which includes Joanna Gleason, Charles Robinson, and Suzie Plakson, gets high marks. Leads Annie Potts and Jay Thomas end up not as lauded, although both get discussed a great deal. Potts proves to be a Tread Perilously sweetheart while Thomas ... well, Thomas is another matter all together. Justin eulogizes the sitcom as a format while Erik suggests Love & War represents its lowest ebb. They try to re-conceive the show for Plakson and Michael Nouri (who also appears in the episode) and find a better use for the rest of the cast.

Warm up that blowtorch and slip off your bra through your shirt sleeve as we splash into 1983's Flashdance. Why were butts so flat in the 80s? Did Nair literally and figuratively scar a generation? Can we give Jennifer Beals forever props for championing the off-the-shoulder look? And we all know about that iconic scene, but why is the rest of this movie so very very wet? We'll give you our answers in the form of this interpretive dance.
A body-swapping alien and a canister of liquid Satan. What? Yeah, that's pretty much it. And both movies have ordinary people being used as puppets of evil! 1987, how could you?Guns, explosions, bank robberies, murder! Stealing Ferraris! And cassettes from a music store? When will this madness end? Well, probably when a cop and an FBI agent put the awkward "getting to know you" phase behind them and get to work. Enough with the awkward dinners at home, go find this maniac! But even with all of the destruction left in its wake, finding this villain might be more challenging than you think. Because they're chasing, The Hidden (1987)!John Carpenter reveals to us, a well-kept secret in a run-down church in Los Angeles. A canister of primordial liquid, locked from the inside, guarded by The Brotherhood of Sleep. If this sounds intriguing, then you may want to put your skills in mathematics and science to the test, and join the group of grad students who are working to unravel this ancient religious mystery. Of course, you do run the risk of becoming a pawn, serving the Prince of Darkness (1987)!And you know that the Common Craig has a Top 5 Horror of 1987 prepared to share with you!

Writer Morgan Cline joins to discuss the romantic drama FLASHDANCE starring Jennifer Beals and Michael Nouri. This 1983 film was director Adrian Lyne's first breakout success, wowing audiences with the tale of a welder/cabaret performer who, despite no formal dance training, aspires to join the Pittsburgh Conservatory of Dance. FLASHDANCE was a star-making turn for Jennifer Beals, taking home a Best Original song Academy Award for "Flashdance...What a Feeling" composed by Giorgio Moroder and sung by Irene Cara. Though considered an undeniably iconic film of the '80s, how does the age gap and power differential of its core romance fare by modern standards? You'd simply be a MANIAC to miss this episode, which also features maniacal diversions into Santa Claus, Baby Boom, beefcakes, Finnish crime dramas, Joyride, She Said, Sliver, and much much more! His Hawaiian mother was a notable Hula Dancer, and his Arkansas born father was a multi-instrumentalist that loved Country Music. It was a foregone conclusion that Kimo would someday be in the music industry. He started playing in bands with his dad at the age of 12, shortly after learning the guitar. It was this early exposure to making music that lit his fire.Kimo met band mates Monty DeVita in elementary school, and James Blaylock in High School, and with some member changes over the years, they became one of the top country bands on the West Coast in the early 90's.Kimo moved to Nashville, TN in 1994, and quickly found himself immersed in the scene. He ran a successful demo recording studio out of his home and began touring with many great artists, including David Lee Murphy, John Michael Montgomery and Country Music Hall of Fame Members, Alabama, whom he still tours with today. However, he knew his bond with his musical brothers, Monty and James, would always be his focus and passion. Kimo feels Cash Creek has just begun to communicate their message, and they have so much more to say..
The gentlemen discuss the 1987 police procedural "The Hidden" released by New Line Cinema. Starring Kyle MacLachlan and Michael Nouri, this film freaked a 10 year old Byron out when viewed on a DFW Saturday afternoon on channel 11. Despite the alien nature of the story, the central component talks about the "hidden" nature of humanity. Part buddy cop movie, part "The Thing", this movie is one of the few creature-feature / horror-cop movies I've ever seen hold up so well.

In 2004 Spielberg and Hanks teamed up for “The Terminal” a film that lives up to its name if not its reputation. AJ Gonzalez of The Directors Wall joins the podcast to discuss. Directed by Steven Spielberg Written by Sacha Gervasi & Jeff Nathanson. Starring Tom Hanks, Stanley Tucci, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Chi McBride, Diego Luna, Kumar Pallana, Zoe Saldana, Michael Nouri, & Benny Golson How is the world wrong about this movie? From Andras Jones: “The Terminal” is a fantastic example of Spielberg's ability to make an incredibly bleak film and wrap it in so much goodness you don't even know how sad it is. Meanwhile we've got Hanks doing what he does best; bringing unexpected pathos to physical comedy and vice versa. I think most people think of this (if they do at all) as lightweight fluff. It's anything but. You demanded it, so we're chasing down body-hopping alien thrill-killers in The Hidden (1987), a genre-bending sci-fi buddy cop movie that pairs Flashdance's Michael Nouri with Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan as a cop and an FBI agent on the trail of a criminal alien slug from another planet! Listen as we talk alien physiology, what it means to be human, and find out we're driving the meat puppet on this week's exciting episode! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Michael Nouri stars as LAPD detective Tom Beck, who takes down a bank robber gone berserk in one of the bloodiest shootouts in department history. What Beck doesn't know is that the culprit is actually being controlled by a parasite within his body that loves danger, money, speeding, and good ol' rock-n-roll, and it can't be killed by normal means, and moves from host to host whenever the body it is in is about to expire. Enter FBI agent Lloyd Gallagher (Kyle MacLachlan), on assignment from Seattle to help apprehend the perpetrator(s) on a killing spree the likes of which have the LA cops stymied. Gallagher seems to hold the key as to why normally good people are going bad all of a sudden, but he's not letting on why. Jack Sholder directs.

If you weren't already smitten with the man from 'Flashdance' and 'The Death of Gianni Versace', now's your chance to fall in love with Michael Nouri. We get to know the man behind the eyes, and why the women seem to love him. It's probably because of his big, giant heart and his gentle spirit. Swoon.
1987's The Hidden is a sci-fi action horror film directed by Jack Sholder, and starring Michael Nouri and Kyle MacLachlan. As the back of the VHS describes it the Hidden is about "A series of bizarre, inexplicable robberies and murders have L.A. police detective Tom Beck (Nouri) totally baffled. And it doesn't help when mysterious FBI agent Lloyd Gallagher (MacLachlan) tells him that a demonic extraterrestrial creature is invading the bodies of innocent victims -- and transforming them into inhuman killers with an unearthly fondness for heavy metal music, red Ferraris and unspeakable violence!" The film's a really great underseen gem, although several articles last year for its 30th anniversary helped raise its profile. It's a very early role for MacLachlan, and shows that directors were putting him into odd characters right from the start. The soundtrack, compiled by IRS Records, is one of several that the label put together around that time, and thus, this is the second film in a row that featured Concrete Blonde's "Over Your Shoulder" and "Haunted Head," as did the previous year's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. There was never an actual soundtrack release, although Michael Convertino's score was put out by Varese Sarabande, and the Truth's "It's Hidden" was released as a single by IRS.
Terminal Error (2002) is an absurd tale of computer hacking and sentient computer viruses. A small, completely automated California town is in danger of being wiped off the map after a hacker (Timothy Busfield) lets loose a virus to get revenge on his old friends Michael Nouri and Marina Sirtis. It’s goofy! In the second […]
The Hidden[1987] High performance sports cars and body transfers for everyone!! Stuck in a pit of muck, they struggle. The blackish-purple substance is waist high, all over the walls and leading up to the narrow hole where they fell in. Can they even see light or is it just a trick of the eye, hoping to see what it wants, what isn't there? The smell is unbearable and will cling to them long after they have made it out. If. If they make it out. Why do they get themselves in these situations? It seemed like a good idea, exploring a new and exciting place. Altair is inhabited and wonderful this time of year. The air is so close in this place. It feels like the muck is sucking out all the ideas and thoughts out of their minds. One lingers, one just won't go away: 1987, SciFi Horror movie, "The Hidden" starring Michael Nouri and Kyle MacLachlan. The movie just glues to one's consciousness long after initial contact. There is something about it. What's that? There is a noise. Someone else is in the pit with them and whoever it is... is alive. You think it's over now? You're wrong. #SuperMovieBall #MichaelNouri #KyleMacLachlan #TheHidden #MovieReview #SciFi #Horror #MouthToMouth #Podcast Follow Us: twitter = supermovieball instagram = supermovieball Email Us: gmail = supermovieball@gmail.com More of Us: web = supermovieball.com Music By: Intro = Original_Music By Joe D'Agostino QotW_ = By Riley Bowman Bkgnd = Legend Has It By Run The Jewels 2T1L_ = By RoccoW Outro = By RoccoW & xyce
One of the most heartfelt, grateful, stupendous stories of a life well-lived... actor Michael Nouri, from untrained amateur to starring on Broadway with Julie Harris and being schooled by a pro in his early 20s, turning down Sam Peckinpaw to do this little film called Flashdance, which changed the world... break dancing and fashion for two... starring on Broadway again with Julie Andrews and then, Liza Minelli, handpicked by Blake Edwards, with a song crafted just for him by Henry (call me Hank) Mancini... a load of superlative work on stages and screens, starting with Goodbye Columbus, co-starring with Ali McGraw and Richard Benjamin... being hand-picked by Billy Crystal to be the only one to ever play DiMaggio (in 61*), straddling TV, Movies & Broadway, way before it was cool... his life's not so secret, secrets, shared... gratitude, peace, heart, and, how he does it. Plus, pearls of wisdom. Loved every second of this. One for the books. He needs to write one. HR Happy Hour 293 - Workplace Movie Hall of Fame - Flashdance Hosts: Trish McFarlane, Steve Boese This week on the HR Happy Hour Show, Steve and Trish continue The Workplace Movie Hall of Fame series with a look at the big HR and workplace themes in the 1983 hit "Flashdance". Flashdance was released in 1983 and starred Jennifer Beals as Alex and Michael Nouri as the boss. Alex is a female dynamo: steel worker by day, exotic dancer by night. Her dream is to get into a real dance company, though, and with encouragement from her boss/boyfriend, she may get her chance Flashdance was also the 3rd highest grossing film in the US in 1983 - $92.9M. The film has several big HR and workplace themes running though it - some seriously hostile and harrassing work environments for women, a probably inappropriate, (and definitely creepy) romance between the boss and one of his very young employees, how leaders do or do not support employee's dreams and career goals, and the importance of having a more expansive and inclusive idea of talent and potential. We dug into how these themes are portrayed in the movie, how they inform how we think about work and workplaces today, and what we can learn from looking back at some really different norms in workplaces in 1983. Steve and Trish also talked about the importance of leadership, kindness in the workplace, and even if it is ever appropriate to kiss and/or hug at work. This was a really fun show! In Episode 5 Mickey and Jess talk to DAVE MADE A MAZE screenwriter Steve Sears about its upcoming August 18th release to theaters. Then the three take a nostalgic trip to the video stores of their childhoods and discuss the VHS covers that warped them for life. After waxing nostalgic they dive into Jack Sholder's underrated 1987 classic The Hidden starring Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan and badass Michael Nouri!
Make no mistake, the alien invasion has begun. Luckily it appears the invaders are only interested in robbing banks, stealing sports cars, and listening to heavy metal. It's a close encounter of the weirdest kind as Brian and Cargill uncover 1987's The Hidden. Michael Nouri and Kyle Maclachlan (two years before Twin Peaks) star in this oddball buddy cop movie about what it means to be human...well, what it means to be a human in the excess-obsessed 80s.Like the show?
