In this 'scrapbook show' 20 year grudges about the Digimon movie, a hostage is ignored by salesmen and pour one out for Ninten's nachos.
Ninten, Ana, and Lloyd are facing down the biggest calamity in their world-saving careers: childcare. Every adult in Youngtown has been abducted, leaving behind a village of traumatized orphans, fighting to survive in the alien-infested wilderness. Fortunately, there are some pleasant surprises in store: strange new powers, old friends, and fun facts await in this epic and heartrending double-length adventure. “MOTHER,” She Wrote mixes audio drama and talk podcast to chronicle the strangest, most thought-provoking video games ever made: the MOTHER series, as it's called in Japan, and EarthBound as it's called everywhere else. This first season chronicles MOTHER (1989), known as EarthBound Beginnings in English-speaking countries. Leave the gloomy ghouls of Spookane behind and head to the sweltering Yucca Desert. Surviving this hostile environment would be hard enough if it weren't teaming with aliens! Ninten and friends will have to hone their skills to stay alive and make some deals with a wacky war veteran to ensure that the desert gives up all its secrets. This sprawling expanse is filled with them - many more than even the game suggests! “MOTHER,” She Wrote mixes audio drama and talk podcast to chronicle the strangest, most thought-provoking, most heart-rending video games ever made: the MOTHER series, as it's called in Japan, and EarthBound as it's called everywhere else. Meet Ana, the psychokinetic preacher's daughter whose mom was abducted by aliens. She has unusual powers, but there's more under the surface of this precocious girl than even she knows. Joining Ninten and Lloyd, they travel to the ghost town of Spookane to investigate a city-wide disappearance and rumors of a haunted piano with a tragic history. Sarah Rhea Werner, of the sci-fi audio drama Girl in Space, joins the cast as Ana and our audio drama segment EXPLODES in this double-length mid-season special. "MOTHER," She Wrote and Ninten's adventures will never be the same again. “MOTHER,” She Wrote mixes audio drama and talk podcast to chronicle the strangest, most thought-provoking, most heart-rending video games ever made: the MOTHER series, as it's called in Japan, and EarthBound as it's called everywhere else. Ninten and Lloyd want to ride the rails, but there's something standing in their way that's too big for two kids to tackle... nothing that a military-grade rocket can't fix! With the trains running again, their world opens up exponentially! They dip into lands too dangerous to travel... yet... and hop the Paradise Line to Reindeer, a town ravaged by a pandemic and wealth disparity. Perhaps there are problems even our well-equipped protagonists can't solve. Never fear, dear listener - "relax for a while and watch the world go by. Just as long as we're together we'll be fine - Takin' the Paradise Line!” “MOTHER,” She Wrote mixes audio drama and talk podcast to chronicle the strangest, most thought-provoking, most heart-rending video games ever made: the MOTHER series, as it's called in Japan, and EarthBound as it's called everywhere else. Ninten's back on solid ground and in a new town. Life in the bustling burg of Merrysville is tough, but he finds a new friend in a strange place - with explosive results. In Merrysville, Shigesato Itoi's social commentary and observations of American culture are in full effect; as you explore an abandoned factory, an elementary school, and wander in and out of the lives of the town's citizens. Cat and Jess crack open the MOTHER Encyclopedia and speak to a surprising source - Talking Heads' frontman David Byrne - as they piece together all the puzzling evidence of this artful game's influences. “MOTHER,” She Wrote mixes audio drama and talk podcast to chronicle the strangest, most thought-provoking, most heart-rending video games ever made: the MOTHER series, as it's called in Japan, and EarthBound as it's called everywhere else. Before Xbox and Playstation were waging war in the 2000s, we were dealing with the console war version of the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The shot heard 'round the world was a simple phrase: "Sega does what Ninten-don't." We all remember the bold and edgy marketing that drew the line in the sand. Brother against brother, we all had to take a side in the console wars of the 90s, but that's not the whole picture of a story that starts years earlier. Join us today as Matt walks us through the earliest console wars in today's FLAVOR TEXT guaranteed to hit you hard right in the nostalgia bone. Special thanks to #buttthompnation member "@MGrum54," who was kind enough to give us an excuse to break out the Nintendo light gun by commissioning this episode! Nintendo has the triforce, but after striking gold with so many different Zelda games, it's a Hyrulian task to make every new entry a banger. In this third quest Peter (www.retrogamepapa.nl) is joined once again by Michiel Kroder and Max the Dutch Gamer, but there's also Bruno Ramos, a Zelda know-it-all and professional colorist, as a special guest. The knights talk about their love for the Zelda series and how they think Tears of the Kingdom will be like. Next to that there's also a discussion about what they think Nintendo will do in the upcoming years with the Zelda series, as well as what they'd like Nintendo to do. Peter also pitches a lot of Zelda game ideas, like "The Fiddle of Torment" with some being even more ridiculous than others. In the entrance part of the podcast the knights discuss some other games, like the Super Mario RPG's, Fire Emblem: Three Houses and a lot of great indie gems: Cult of the Lamb, Death's Door, Deathloop, Dead End City and Crossgunr. Peter also talks about two Wii-exclusive hidden gems on the Wii: a rare Japanese horror game Ikenie no Yoru and Western Heroes, an on-rail shooter.
Kris and Sean talk about the game that started it all, Sonic the Hedgehog (1991). They cover mascot design, SEGA doing what Ninten-don't and how FRUSTRATING Sonic 1 actually is! Mother, officially known outside of Japan as EarthBound Beginnings, is a role-playing video game developed by Ape and published by Nintendo for the Famicom. The first entry in the Mother series, it was first released in Japan on July 27, 1989. It is modeled on the gameplay of the Dragon Quest series, but is set in the late 20th-century United States, unlike its fantasy genre contemporaries. Mother follows the young Ninten as he uses his great-grandfather's studies on psychic powers to fight hostile, formerly inanimate objects and other enemies. The game uses random encounters to enter a menu-based, first-person perspective battle system. Writer and director Shigesato Itoi pitched Mother's concept to Shigeru Miyamoto while visiting Nintendo's headquarters for other business. Though Miyamoto rejected the proposal at first, he eventually gave Itoi a development team. A North American version of the game was localized into English, but was abandoned as commercially nonviable. A copy of this prototype was later found and circulated on the Internet under the informal title EarthBound Zero. The game was eventually released worldwide under the name EarthBound Beginnings for the Wii U Virtual Console in June 2015.

Episode 94 - Ninten-Don't Drink and Game We have a lot in common with each other over here at The Buzzed Kill Podcast, and that's probably why we are such good friends. We are all musicians, we all love camping, and not to state the obvious, but we all love beer, horror movies, and video games. We have to admit, the last two things on that list have never really impressed our parents very much. It wasn't uncommon to hear them say things like, "You're going to go blind, looking at those darn video games all day", or "Friday the 13th? What's that garbage? You want real cinema? Weekend At Bernie's... now there's a real classic", and even "I don't care what you do, you're 33 years old. Just get the hell out of my basement!" WELL, LOOK AT US NOW, DAD!!! Not only have we managed to turn our love for horror movies into one of the top Southwest Michigan podcasts in the genre of beer and horror movies among 18-34 year olds(Easily in the top 50 probably), but we can even spin our love for video games into an episode. Added Bonus: We're pretty sure that if there was ever a zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion, we would be preeeetty okay. This week we grabbed some Hoptronix Double IPA from New Holland Brewing, did a quick review of a video game-based horror movie, then focused our attention E3 2018's coverage of some upcoming genre-based games. Toys For Games 'Cast - Collecting, playing with, and discussing toys-to-life
Episode 119 is recorded right on the heels of E3 2017, where tons of toys-to-life figures and games were shown off and discussed, getting the community of collectors excited all over again. While we weren't down in LA to experience the fun first hand, we hope this episode will still do justice to previous E3 episodes we've done! First we talk about Skylanders, which got a mention from the big boss of Activision himself, giving some hope to the fanbase. We discuss the E3 presence for LEGO Dimensions, and what their continued silence of Year 3 might mean. We break down the 13 new amiibo announced by Nintendo, which was plenty of excitement for all fans. We touched on some news regarding Beasts of Balance and Lightseekers, and then ran down everything we know about the newly announced toys-to-life game from Ubisoft, STARLINK! In the back half of the episode, we read through all the tweets for the #CommunityQuestion, and pick a winner for the #ResponseOfTheWeek giveaway. Finally, we wrap up with emails from the great folks in the community, doing our best to answer all questions thrown our way! All this and more on Episode 119 of the Toys For Games ‘Cast! New Name, Slightly New Format! Prof and Dev Play Games is a conversational video game podcast. In this episode, The Prof (@profplaysgames) and The Dev (@summerspeak) discuss Nintendo News, Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 4 Mod Tools, Xbox One Two, Lionhead, Playstation Tour, PS4 Sales, Severed, Bloodborne, Star Fox Zero, Nioh Alpha Demo, Hearthstone, and Game of Thrones.
It's been an interesting week for fans of Nintendo. From Star Fox Zero's release (that's been contentious in the DK Vine community) to renewed rumors of a Monster Games-developed Diddy Kong Racing, it would have been enough to base an entire episode around. But then Nintendo seemed to set their entire company on fire by announcing that the NX, and Zelda, are delayed until March of next year... and the Wii U version of Zelda is the only game they're showing at E3. HUH? Note that Hyle originally wanted the episode title "NintenD'OH!", thinking it would please classic Simpsons fan Chad. Chad argued that they should double down and go with the more obscure Simpsons reference "Ninten(annoyed grunt)". Chad won.
Forget the game themed specials, this is an N.W.A. themed episode. We got Dre, Eazy, Ice, and Ren over select video game beats in this episode. The latest video game based lyrics corner meshes together the worlds of Earthbound Beginnings and classic N.W.A. I also talk about my early love for gangsta rap, and my current love for Advance Wars!
The time has arrived! A new challenger approaches! We are joined in this very Ninten-episode by the one, the only: Josh Broccolo of the Broccolo Nation podcast! It's time again for Nerds Without Pants! This week, JD joins us for a very special look at growing up in the '90s, and all the great games we experienced back then. So lace up your army boots, tie a flannel around your waist, and chug some Crystal Pepsi folks, because this episode of NWP is full of attitude and is so effing XTREME! First though, we head over to Consumption Junction, where quite a bit of games are talked about. Enjoy plenty of discussion about God of War: Ascension, Gears of War: Judgment, BioShock Infinite, The Cave, and Star Craft II: Heart of the Swarm. Julian brings up Metal Gear Solid V and the danger of "prequel fatigue". We also talk about comics for a reeeally long time, as well as a bit of TV. Then we hop into the Wayback Machine for a trip through 1990-1999. There's as much as a ten year gap between the oldest and youngest members of this show, so memories and experiences vary wildly. From the heyday of the arcade to the launch of the SNES, N64, PSX, and more, the Pantsless Ones have a lot to say. Pokemon addiction! Fear of Ecco the Dolphin! Dreams of living on Dawson's Creek! All this and more await you in a most excellent episode of Nerds Without Pants! Seriously, you Ninten-don't want to miss this one. FEATURED MUSIC: Way too many to name!

This week on All Things Nintendo, Brian renders his final verdict on Blasphemous 2, the new challenging Metroidvania that takes inspiration from games like Dead Cells and Dark Souls. After that, we have two interviews with folks who are involved with the music of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, but in very different ways. First up, we talk with Katie Chrzanowski, who you may know as the social media manager for the Sonic the Hedgehog brand. However, she's also the producer of the Sonic Symphony, which was livestreamed in 2021 and is heading up the world tour happening this fall. Then, Brian is joined by Tee Lopes, composer of Sonic Mania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. He also happens to be the composer for the upcoming Sonic Superstars.
