This is where your most crucial work falls into. Then we have tier 2.These activities are still important, but not as important as your main task in tier 1.Then finally we have tier 3.This is where everything that doesn't need to be done at all, falls under. Now what would happen if you were to remove the possibility of doing tier 3 tasks all together?

Welcome back to Clearing the Way. A resource for small business. I talk with sales and HR experts, other small business owners, and anyone else that can provide you with information to clear your way to success. Today's episode is a solo episode. The topic: Overcoming Overwhelm. I've got a couple quick tools that I use when I am caught in overwhelm and feeling unproductive. 1) Make a list It is super simple. Just write down everything that needs to be done. That alone can and likely will feel like a daunting task, especially when you are the owner of your company. You've got a TON on your plate. Don't overthink it. But just make a list. Not in your head. An actual list. Use your tablet, paper, a napkin. Anything to actually capture the list. The level of detail necessary varies for me. If I am in a really deep slump, I need to be super detailed. If I catch it early, the list can be a little more “surface level”. Some examples Surface level - “Edit Neal's video”. “Meet with Joe Bob” Detailed - Find Music. Find Sound effects. Make selections. Edit Rough Cut. Color Grade. Find Joe Bob's Contact info. Send Joe Bob my Availability. Prep for Joe Bob. As you complete the tasks, mark them off. This is super important for me. If I don't do this step, I get to the end of the day and feel like I haven't done anything. If you are feeling frisky, you can prioritize the list. Don't spend too much time here though. It is easy to get caught “refining your list” over and over, rethinking whether this is more important than that. 2) Time blocking Next up. Time blocking. Take that precious list that you just created. Open your calendar. Start adding these items to the calendar. I like to do this on Sunday, but do what works for you. I normally add everything for the week at once. You are going to have some things that come up through the week that may derail some of the plan, but stick to it as close as possible. 3) Productive Procrastination This one is a little bonus. I am a procrastinator. Especially when I am stuck in these little ruts. I procrastinate and then get to the end of the day knowing that I didn't get done everything that I needed to. In comes “Productive Procrastination.” These are the things that would be nice to get done, but they aren't priorities. I use these to help me get into a rhythm. These are generally tasks that I want to work on. Updating business cards, updating your logo, things like that. So you have big goals for yourself and your business in the coming months, and you're driven to achieve it all in 2022. But then… you get distracted. It starts with one ‘off' day. Maybe you spend a morning knocking out some big to-do's for a new marketing initiative… only to check the clock and realize that morning's over, and all you did is get lost in email. Before you know it, it's become a pattern. It's so easy to fall into the trap of doing what we know how to do – what we're already successful at doing – instead of taking the new, needle-moving actions we know we need to focus on to grow and scale. It's called productive procrastination, and I know this is extraordinarily common, because I hear about it from my clients all the time. If you're not careful, you hardly ever realize when you've fallen into its trap. Listen in to learn the signs to look out for, whether it's always a bad thing, and more. After getting a bad case of COVID recently (and despite being fully vaccinated), I found myself really wiped out and unable to find my way back to “work mode.” My energy was low, and yet at the same time, I felt restless, an urge to do something remotely useful, but not necessarily vitally important. You know the feeling? If you have ADHD like me, or even if you don't, you probably know exactly what I mean. This week on the podcast, I'm talking about productive procrastination. Is it good? Is it bad? Is it even possible to “productively” delay getting stuff done by doing other stuff? Or is it better to do nothing at all and just practice self-care instead? I think we've all been there, somewhere at the intersection of overwhelm, distraction, and guilt, when we're doing busy work but we're not addressing what's at the very top of our to-do list. Take a deep dive with me on the subject of productive procrastination and where I think a happy medium might be found, in prioritizing goals and not just movement. Don't put this one off! She helps visionary leaders transform their self-limiting stories, build their empire, stand out fearlessly, and make the income and the impact they deserve.Top 3 TakeawaysPick up the pace—early career leaders often delay when making decisions. This can hold you back. Of course you'll experience self-doubt—we all do—but as a leader, all eyes are on you to be decisive when it counts.Expand your perspective—experienced leaders need to look at situations and their own capabilities from a broader vantage point in order to break through a performance plateau.Don't confuse busy-ness with business. If you want to move beyond frenetic activity toward delivering results that matter, you have to be clear about your purpose. You must do the uncomfortable things that you know you ought to in order to maximize your impact. From the Source“A lot of times we're told it's ‘new level, new devils', and for me, I've never experienced that to be true. And honestly, in five years of coaching, I've never experienced that to be true with a client. Typically it's ‘same devil, new level'.““For early career leaders, the number one thing that stops them is self doubt. And the number one thing that doubt creates is delight. And so the swifter you can be at speeding up your decision-making, the faster you're going to move through that earlier period. Because when you delay on making a decision, it then allows for that insidious interloper of doubt to creep in.”“One of the things that I see as they start giving their power away to meetings—to endless meetings.”“So often we can unconsciously get into this pattern of blame. Blame the meetings, blame the project, blame the children, blame the husband, blame the partner blame—you know, 'oh, if my partner wasn't working me so hard' or, 'oh, if my, if I didn't have so many clients'—blame the clients. When you look at 'where are you blaming?' that's where you'll see that you are giving away your power of conscious choice and you are defaulting to blame, which doesn't actually put you in a position to change anything. So if you want to enact change, then you have to look examine it as to where you're placing blame and then move forward from there.““Blame really stacks up. So examining and curtailing it as quickly as possible so that you don't—five years from now, ten years from now—turn around and say what happened to my life? ““Our brains are wired to survive. They're not necessarily wired to thrive unless we actively, consciously program them to.”Connect with KimberlyCrownYourself.comYouTubeFacebookLinkedIn

Have you ever heard of productive procrastination? I haven't until a few months back. I've been a passive procrastinator for most of my life - indulging in YouTube, TV series, and shopping sprees instead of studying, writing essays and working on my side hustle project. I've recently noticed I'm actually working on something; it just happened not to be the most important task that needed to be done. Productive procrastination means you do what needs to be done; it's just usually not something that's that important - such as organizing your folder, cleaning your workspace, going through emails for the fifth time. Productive procrastination can happen to any of us - when studying, working, or working on our dreams. In today's episode, I cover productive procrastination from my perspective, and I share my five tips with you, which have been helping me tackle procrastination habits. Hey Lovies! This week on Love This B!tch, we focus on a couple different things. First, we discuss what productive procrastination is. Understanding what procrastination is and how to avoid it is key to fighting anxiety, sadness and other emotions we deal with when we feel our procrastination is holding us back. The second topic is how to become confident in your decision making and how to make choices from a positive and confident standpoint. Working to make confident decisions that don't over analyze your choices and leave you anxious and overwhelmed takes work and a shift in thinking. No one is perfect, and chasing perfectionism is a recipe doomed to failure. Make the best decisions you can confidently and without second guessing yourself. Highlights What is productive procrastination Taking action to progress towards your goals Avoiding negative thoughts prior to decision making Building a foundation of confidence Thank you for tuning in this week! On today's chapter of the #WordWeaverPodcast I'm talking about how to stop procrastinating on writing your book and start prioritizing “To Do” tasks that move the needle closer to achieving your big goals. Preparing to write instead of actually writing can seem “productive,” but stems from fear of facing the blank page and ultimately preventing you from finishing your manuscript. This week’s guest, Bridget Quinn, has some important insights into this topic, too, and shares about how she sold three books in five years after the devastating rejection of her memoir, and how keeping lots of irons in the fire is an effective strategy for writing success.

Many of us fear procrastination like the devil himself. Companies and entrepreneurs alike spend tons of money fighting it on a daily basis. But the truth is, procrastination is not nearly the enemy of productivity it is seen to be. In fact, if we understand procrastination for what it is and how it works we can often use it as a worthy ally.

This episode is titled 'In The Zone' but it should probably be titled 'Straight Fire' that might be more accurate. I discuss the state of being in the zone and a strategy I've been thinking about to increase the likelihood of getting in the zone. Then I also briefly discuss Productive Procrastination which is a practice I'm trying to master and that I think is really useful.

This is the "confused father" episode of Productive Procrastination. As a male, a father, husband and friend to many women, it has been difficult to learn about the experiences they have at the hands of other men. How do we as men help change the environment for women, our daughters, their friends? How do we change our boys to be good men?
SHOW NOTES >> In this week's episode of the Creative Introvert podcast I talk to someone I've actually met in REAL LIFE, which is always a treat, a fellow seaside dweller and creative introvert, Rachel Shorer. Rachel writes and performs as a way to channel her tendency to overshare about her personal life and rant about stuff like feminism and culture. She's about to go on a tour of women's living rooms with her spoken word show 10 Mistakes Every Girls Makes in Her Twenties. She's also working on a first novel, The PeaceWeaver's Wordhoard, which I'm personally, very excited for.
