While much attention is paid to the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia, it is important to note that Russia continues to try and exert influence across the world. This is particularly true across the Middle East, where Russia has tried to center itself as the reliable partner for autocratic leaders throughout the region. Russia has a long history of engagement with Middle Eastern Leaders, but after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it saw its influence wane, down to just a couple of countries. Over the past ten years, however, they have regained a foothold through the Syrian Civil war and have increased their engagement with other countries, especially in the wake of the Arab Spring. While Russia has many interests in the region, our speaker, Vice Admiral John W. Miller (ret.), proposes that the driving force of Russian interests are two fold; to create transactional relationships that benefit Russia, and to disrupt the U.S.' vision for the region. Join us for this episode to gain critical insights into why Russian engagement in the Middle East is an issue that all Americans should be aware of and why it is in the U.S.' national security interest to counter their growing influence. This episode will highlight the number of ways in which the U.S. and Russia approach this region and how many countries would prefer to partner with these large global actors. Admiral John W. Miller serves as the President and CEO of The Fozzie Miller Group, LLC and as a Principal Partner of Global Alliance Advisors, LLC, both Washington DC based national security firms positioned at the intersection of government policy, defense acquisition programs, and industrial performance. The firm teams with US and international clients to deliver solutions that blend national security strategies and industrial growth into achievable national security objectives.Admiral Miller also serves as a Highly Qualified Expert and Senior Mentor to the U.S. Naval War College, providing advice and expertise to the U.S. Navy on a wide range of operational and educational subjects. His last three assignments in the Navy were as Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/Commander U.S. Fifth Fleet/Commander/ Combined Maritime Forces; Commander, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center; and Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven.Admiral Miller also serves as a non-resident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and as an active member of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation Board of Trustees.

Phil Capron went from running special ops missions with the Navy to purchasing his first property in 2010. His new book shows veterans and active duty personnel how, with a few strategic decisions early on in their career, they can acquire and manage enough real estate to separate from the military after a full career as a net-worth millionaire and, ideally, have a cash flow that would replace their active duty income. In this episode, Phil discusses how he conducts his multifamily missions with host Theo Hicks. Phil Capron Real Estate Background: Purchased first property in 2010 while in Navy in Norfolk, VA Got real estate license, flipped homes, bought and held SFRs, got into MF a few years ago 244 MF units Senior Mentor with Michael Blank Book: Your VA Loan and How it Can Make You a Millionaire Based out of: NYC Say hi at Best Ever Tweet: “I’m not concerned about why something isn’t going to work or why we can’t do it, I’m concerned with how can we make something happen? How can we overcome this obstacle or this problem? And if you approach this business with that mindset, I believe you’re a lot more likely to succeed.” - Phil Capron The Best Ever Conference is approaching quickly and you could earn your ticket for free. When Phil Capron went through special ops training for the US military, he noticed that the recruits who made it to the end weren’t necessarily the strongest or the fastest or the smartest. So, what differentiated the 20 who succeeded from the thousands vying for the job? They simply refused to quit. And Phil believes that the same principle applies to making it in multifamily investing. Phil is a former Special Warfare Combatant Craft Crewman in the US Navy and current full-time multifamily real estate investor. To date, he owns a 245-unit portfolio worth $15M in Coastal Virginia and shares his understanding of the space as a Senior Mentor with the Michael Blank Organization. Phil specializes in revitalizing distressed and underperforming assets to ensure profitability for his team and change neighborhoods for the better. He is also the author of the new release Your VA Loan: And How it Can Make You a Millionaire. On this episode of Apartment Building Investing, Phil joins me to explain how taking advantage of a VA loan sparked his initial interest in real estate. He walks us through his transition from working in a brokerage and flipping houses to full-time multifamily investing, sharing his advice around when to quit a W-2 job for real estate. Listen in for Phil’s insight into what differentiates his successful mentoring students from those who don’t progress and learn how the grit he developed in military special ops training informs his investing career. Phil purchased his first property in 2010 in Norfolk, VA while honorably serving in the United States Navy as a Naval Special Warfare Combatant Craft Crewman (SWCC). While he enjoyed jumping out of planes, shooting machine guns, and practicing small unit tactics with Navy SEALs and other Special Operations Command operators, he realized in that first purchase that real estate was something he had a passion for and committed to pursuing it further when his time in the service was over. He took a real estate license course while still in the Navy and upon separation from service in 2012 immediately went to work selling his buddies from his old unit homes as they transferred to Virginia from other duty stations. Upon working with a real estate investor, Phil recognized the opportunity to capitalize on his new skill set and began flipping houses with one of his Navy teammates. 5 years and 30+ flips later, he was ready to create real wealth and dove head first into his first multi family acquisition, a 13 unit property in Norfolk. One year and over 200 units later, he is a full time multi family acquisitions specialist. Phil prides himself on creatively finding win win solutions for complex problems, and credits his time in the military with his tenacious no quit attitude and commitment to teamwork and delivering on his promises as a buyer. Because he absolutely loves what he does and wants others to experience the joy of walking the path to financial freedom, Phil accepted a position as a Senior Mentor with The Michael Blank Organization and the hours he coaches and helps other investors are some of his favorites every week! On this episode, we talk about: How you go from the military to 200+ units Lessons learned in first deal mistakes How you can learn from having a business partner Get a free copy of Phil's new book at http://yourvaloanandhowitcanmakeyouamillionaire.com/ To see this program in video on Roku go to RealEstateInvesting4Women.com To watch the EXTRA portion of this show go to RealEstateInvestingForWomenExtra.com ------------------------------------------------------ Learn how to create a consistent income stream by only working 5 hours a month the Blissful Investor Way. The more we learn about the Engineering and Robotics Program at Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida, the more we like it. Russell DeSousa, Head Designer for Masquerade (FIRST Tech Challenge 4997) and a Senior Mentor for the Middleton Robotics Club, stopped by to give us the inside scoop. Middleton's STEM Programs include Engineering, Biomedical, Game Design and Digital Electronics. The engineering program is structured with engineering design the first year, which transitions students from traditional learning methods and helps them adapt to the learning style offered in the program. Through the next two years, the students take Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Digital Electronics and Principles of Engineering. Then in their senior year, they take Engineering Design & Development, which is a yearlong Capstone Project. Russell feels that being involved in FIRST Robotics really enhances this curriculum because he can get out of an engineering class and put what he learns to practical use, sometimes almost immediately.
