Full Rig Info: https://www.premierguitar.com/videos/rig-rundown/chris-buckSubscribe to PG's Channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribePGYouTubeIt didn't take too long for Welsh guitarist Chris Buck to go from making YouTube videos to playing the legendary Royal Albert Hall. Earlier this year, he brought his band Cardinal Black to the U.S. for a short tour that included a stop at Nashville's Basement East. That's where PG's John Bohlinger caught up with Buck before the gig for a look at what's powering his blues-rock sound these days. Buck's trademark goldtop Yamaha Revstar is out for the rip, and he spared little space on his double-tiered pedalboard, but a special loaner Gibson and a modded Fender amp added some extra flair to the Nashville show.Shop Chris Buck's Gear:Gibson 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/rQ6DM3Ernie Ball Mega Slinky Strings - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Py3VxQFender Deluxe Reverb - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/rQLg5BDunlop Cry Baby - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/AWa9XxOrigin Effects Cali76 - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/g1VyPrUniversal Audio Golden Reverberator- https://sweetwater.sjv.io/1rD3xgKeeley Katana - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/MmO4N3Catalinbread Echorec - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/oqdnGoLine 6 HX Stomp XL - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Y9QnejUniversal Audio Starlight Echo Station - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/B0zQg9Boss RE-202 Space Echo - https://sweetwater.sjv.io/Mm6BOoFull Rig Info: https://www.premierguitar.com/videos/rig-rundown/chris-buckSubscribe to PG's Channel: http://bit.ly/SubscribePGYouTubeWin Guitar Gear: https://bit.ly/GiveawaysPG Don't Miss a Rundown: http://bit.ly/RIgRundownENLMerch & Magazines: https://shop.premierguitar.comPG's Facebook: https://facebook.com/premierguitarPG's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premierguitar/PG's Twitter: https://twitter.com/premierguitarPG's Threads: https://threads.net/@premierguitarPG's TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@premierguitar[Brought to you by D'Addario: https://ddar.io/wykyk-rr]0:00 - D'Addario Strings & Joe Glaser0:15 - Chris Buck Intro0:58 - John Bohlinger Intro1:35 - Custom Yamaha Revstar Professional6:52 - Chris Buck's Strings & Picks9:14 - Springer Guitars Firehawk13:29 - Gibson 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue16:18 - D'Addario Strings & the Rig Rundown 16:49 - Fender Deluxe Reverb & Victory V40 Deluxe Combos22:17 - Chris Buck's Pedalboard50:00 - D'Addario Strings© Copyright Gearhead Communications LLC, 2024#guitar #rigrundown #guitarist #guitarplayer #guitargear #chrisbuck

Aquarium Drunkard - SIDECAR (TRANSMISSIONS) - Podcast

This week on Transmissions, we welcome returning guest Cécile Schott, aka Colleen. Her latest album, Le Jour Et La Nuit Du Réel—the day and night of reality—was tracked using a minimalistic setup, a Moog Grandmother and two delays: a Roland RE-201 Space Echo and a Moogerfooger Analog Delay. But for Schott, this assemblage allows for near infinite synthesis, and a genuine multitude of expression. As the world gets stranger and more difficult to understand, the record wordlessly questions what is real—and the times of day and night when the line between real and imaginary blurs. LIVE TRANSMISSIONS: On September 30th, we're hosting a live taping of Transmissions at Manly P. Hall's Philosophical Research Society with Matt Marble, discussing his fantastic book about Arthur Russell, Buddhist Bubblegum. Get more info and tickets here. Transmissions is a part of the Talkhouse Podcast Network. Visit the Talkhouse for more interviews, fascinating reads, and podcasts. Next week on the show, Matt Marble.

A Boss RE-202 Space Echo … on a vocal mix? A hot pink overdrive, treble boost, and echo in one pedal named SusMaryOsep—a word Filipino mothers shout at troublesome children? An Artificial Blonde—with hat's off to Madison Cunningham—that's a slightly pitched vibrato? Line 6's Catalyst modeling amp—sexy or not? Amp plugins from Neural DSP and Line 6? Tone King's royal-sounding Imperial MkII and Soldano's SLO-30? Metallica in a box (Caroline Guitar Company's Crom)? A Pigtronix Star Eater fuzz that looks like a wild berry Pop Tart? And have you seen the new Empress Para EQ and Origin Effects' M-EQ Driver? Hosts Rhett Shull and Zach Broyles run down their top gear of the year. Plus, dueling Les Pauls and the eternal question: to refret or not to refret. And is a bone nut really better than nylon? And what's a Dutchburst, anyway? Tired of questions? Well, Rhett and Zach also talk post-Thanksgiving turkey. And Zack tells about his 6-string family reunion with his first guitar and flashes the new Mythos Pedals Hephaestus, named for the Greek god of blacksmithing. What else? (Sorry, that's another question!) Rhett opens up a box of spankin' new pickups from Stew-Mac, and they discuss the online screeds and screeches trailing their conversation about tone woods with Paull Reed Smith in the previous episode. And yes, they do dip a rig, submitted for dissection by “Dipped in Tone” listener Kenny, whose '90s rock setup—with stitched-rose guitar straps—sparks yet another argument about the merits of the Tube Screamer and the virtues of the Phase 90 and Phase 45 versus the Small Stone.Big thanks to StewMac for sponsoring this episode. 048: Dam Swindle. Dam Swindle are Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets - a duo from Amsterdam famed for their eclectic DJ sets, production know-how and essential releases on their very own record label. Both took seperate routes into the dance music scene, but once in each other's orbit, they decided that the current nightlife in Amsterdam did not offer what they needed, so they took the ultimate punk rock attitude and made it up for themselves. In our chat you'll hear how they first got to know one another, how they operate in the studio vs the DJ booth, the design process behind the releases on their Heist record label and a hilarious story featuring a Space Echo pedal.FOLLOW US Instagram: @houseculturenetSpotify: HouseCulture - Perfect PlaylistOnline: www.houseculture.net|| Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseculture. It's time to celebrate mid-summer on the 06.08. and for the first time since COVID began we are super pleased to finally announce the booking of international guest DJ's again!! This months booking is a bit of a personal thing for us and our local DJ M Traxxx who has been following these guys since their humble beginnings in 2012, having lived in Vienna for a while himself. We are talking about none other than Vienna's finest – the LUV SHACK Records crew! Luv Shack records started out as an avenue for local Vienna artists Lee Stevens, Simon Lebon, LeSale and Jakobin & Domino to release their own brand of downtempo house music that focused on quality – much in contrast to most of what was going on in the city at the time. Their first EP Luv is Louder set the tone for things to come with a fine mix of synth driven analog sounding deep house with elements of Disco and Chicago house all thrown into the mix. It was followed up by many a great release slowly expanding their artist pool to include people like Space Echo, Hard Ton and Rotciv to name but a few. They now hold down a regular guest spot in the Wild Renate in Berlin as well as playing all over Europe promoting the LUV. We look forward to welcoming them on the decks!! They will be supported by LOST regulars Michel Fialas and M Traxxx! -------------------- https://soundcloud.com/luvshackrecords https://soundcloud.com/simonlebon https://soundcloud.com/lee-stevens https://www.luvshackrecords.com/ https://luvshackrecords.bandcamp.com/

This is the audio from our video here: https://youtu.be/xS2ZWpLxkzQ   We compare an original Roland RE-201 Space Echo with the RE-20 pedal, Strymon Volante and EchoFix EF-X2. Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below. Welcome to the episode. A little while back, Dan and I did a video on single-head tape delays based on our love of the Echoplex sound. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/iDdK8QMcF2INow it’s the turn of the multi-head tape machine, specifically the classic Roland RE-201 Space Echo that debuted all the way back in 1974. We have some simple questions…How much does the old, analogue RE-201 sound like the ‘new’ RE-20 digital pedal? What about the EchoFix and the Strymon Volante? Can Dan put together a Heath-Robinson pedalboard that simulates what a multi-head tape delay does?Let’s do this – enjoy the episode! Garçon rightly considers himself an "expert in mood modulation." He is someone who carefully builds a groove, teasing with snippets, dropping in and out of tunes and drawing out the process of gratification and please. The Swiss man does it as resident at Elysia in Basel, often with a techno foundation but drawing on niches from all over the electronic spectrum. He co-runs the Amenthia Recordings label with Agonis and has said it takes its musical identity from the utilitarian space of his home club. This mix was recorded there last Friday, with CDJs and 1210s, but also a Space Echo that adds extra depth throughout. Starting in a cavernous industrial space from the off, the sound of sonic decay, eerie reverb and slow motion rhythmic automation all provide details that draw you ever deep into this industrial scene. As the drums become more prominent and the tempo hurries, the mood is no less unsettling and deserted. Broken techno, lurching bass and dark dub all feature in this most skilfully restrained yet highly impactful selection.

This is the audio from our video here: https://youtu.be/FWZmr1rE-yM Why do tape delay machines sound sooooo good? It’s a question we are delving into over a series of shows. We kick off with our personal favourite REAL TAPE machines. Erm, our only machines, in fact. Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below. COVID-19: This video was filmed long before the social distancing measures were advised by various governments across the world. Rest assured that all of us at That Pedal Show began observing social distancing and stay-at-home measures as soon as they were announced. Be well y’all! There’s just something magic about tape echo. Be it an Echoplex, Space Echo, Copicat or what have you, that – literally – magnetic blend of warmth and often idiosyncratic unpredictability is what puts the tear in your eye and the emptiness in your wallet. Both Dan and I have been on a voyage of tape discovery these past months; smitten by the sounds, maddened by the maintenance and confused at the question of why modern pedal simulations just don’t stand up. Or do they? So in this first instalment of (probably) three, we indulge in the tape machines themselves. Consider it a context setting siting lap of what’s to come. In Part 2 we will delve a little more deeply into the single-head Echoplex side of things and a bunch of modern pedals, then follow that up in Part 3 with a similar treatment of the multi-head Space Echo approach. No, we haven’t looked at the European-style Wems/Meazzis etc… maybe that’s one for the future. At present we don’t own any. Off we go then… please enjoy the episode! Emmett Naughton on twitter says: Conference Room A: The Hertz Locker and Confernece Room B: The Thunder Ohm. Parker is making plaques for the conference room doors now out of PCBs. Space Echo Update! Last week Parker and Stephen asked for some clarification on some old school audio measurements so they could calibrate the Space Echo. Steve Kuehn a self proclaimed gray beard from Austin says the following. 0 dBm in the audio business refers to voltage level that will produce 1milliWatt into a 600 ohm load. But over the years, it refers to a voltage level even if you are not aren't using a 600 ohm load so it is a little of a misnomer. If you do the math, 0 dBm is the same as 775mVrms sine wave signal source. -50dBm would be 2.45mVrms. FX DEV BOARD IS LIVE!! Check out the Crowdsupply page and get one! See Figure 1!

This week Kyle and Matthew welcome comedian Rick Wood to discuss the one and only Canadian power trio: Rush. Rick aptly describes Rush as “blue collar scientists” who mix prog rock mythology with blue collar anthems. Rick talks about the evolution of Rush's back catalog from their early career as hard rockers to the band that the world knows today. In the process, he blows Kyle's mind with some of the lesser-known, cool hard rock songs in their catalog. Besides being a talented comedian, Rick is an accomplished musician. He tracks his evolution as a musician and the impact that Rush had on his early playing. From buying his first guitar from a drunk at a bar, to learning Rush bass lines to spite his Mom's new boyfriend, the rockers of the Great White North taught Rick to be ambitious in his songwriting. Other topics include Rush's dedication to keeping their lineup and stage setup simple, their creative ways of writing synth lines that Geddy Lee could play with his feet, Rush's dedicated fanbase and the once-a-year meeting of the minds that is “RushCon.” Plus, Neil Peart's appearance in the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" movie gets some love. Parker's bluetooth radio hack for his Jeep is going well. Tested the module and it works. A spare radio to hack on arrived so Parker can get to work. The MacroDuino Rev 2 is working! To make the ATmega328PB work with the Arduino IDE, Parker used the Watterott's ATmega328PB-Testing repo. See Figure 1 of it controlling a light tower. Wall Clock idea is in progress now. Parker will be ordering boards for it soon. Stay tuned for this one. Upgraded USB killer V2.5 U disk killer miniature high voltage pulse generator. Parker and Stephen talked about this on a previous podcast but this is a newer version. The description is full of broken English. High voltage, power must be off after standing for 2 minutes, until the release of more than electricity, and then carefully openings on the motherboard! Solve the USB killer V2.0 problem of unstable extension cable, By the test, extension line 5 meters long, killer can still release pulse. Nothing can stop it from releasing high voltage pulses. What’s New, ESP-32? Testing the Arduino Library. The new ESP-32 now has core support for GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, and WiFi for the Arduino IDE. The code is on Espressif's github who are the designers of the chip. Interesting that the designers of the chip are pushing the Arduino platform for their hardware. Space Echo progress. Podcast Notes Parker has been working on the SAIM (Semi-Automatic Inspection Machine) this week. Work had to pause as Parker broke off a M5 x 0.8MM drill/tap combo bit off inside the extrusion. Should be able to remove the tap when a left hand drill bit arrives from McMaster. Parker also designed a "man in the middle" board for the Altera USB Blaster programmer. This allows the programming cable to also power the device that is going to be programmed reducing the number of cables needed to hook up while in production. See Figure 1. This board is open source. Files on the MacroFab GitHub. The Jig of Destiny is almost complete. Parker is waiting on a 2-56 tap from McMaster to arrive before he can finish the Jig of Destiny. There are plans to use Octavo's OSD3358 IC in a project. Parker plans on having a project lined up by the next podcast. Stephen is currently working on the FX Dev Board. He is waiting on CrowdSupply getting back to him on when they can start the campaign. The enclosure has been priced out. A prototype of the enclosure will be ordered next week. Last week, Stephen was playing around with the NuTubes. They have limitations but Stephen is almost done with a audio amplifier that uses them. The SSPS now has a simpler analog control. Stephen was able to reduce how many opamps he needed to control the larger OPA541 opamp. Fixing the Space Echo started this week. Stephen is starting by replacing all the capacitors and Parker is working on the front plate. See Figure 2 and 3. Stephen and Parker go on a lengthy rant about capacitors. Stephen bought some "Fine Gold" audio grade capacitors. Parker likes the Nichicon's UBW series since they are baby blue in color. Stephen mention Mundorf capacitors. Asus is going to make a robot. Called the Zenbo. The Zenbo is basically IoT, home automation, and a robotic pet all rolled into a $600 package. RadioShack is returning. After closing 2000+ stores they hired a new CEO Dene Rogers. Parker wants to see a "will call" style setup for getting electronic parts. Special thanks to whixr over at Tymkrs for the intro and outro theme!

Just in time for some festive output for December. With a veritable santa's stocking of chilled grooves, lush soulful keys and synths, we start off with a bit of Burial's latest work, moving through more low-keyness and moodily into an amazing track by Aamon, where the flows gets a more atmospheric and uplifting groove on - Think RoninXChicane:). From here onwards is the gradual ascension through tracks with a heavier floor presence that builds through a bit of party style from 97 to a pinnacle of Piano-Scratch Frenzy from ACIDUKE in first of 3 'Bonus' tracks. I'm particularly loving the spacey soul influences on the Mozaique, 24HSP, and Space Echo releases and the stabby chords on Tube and Berger, not too mention the smoothly vibed 'Early morning Champagne' with Woz treading a tight line close to UKG. After using Pete Bellis' TQ Re-Edit of Gotye, I couldn't resist the rework that he's done on Reflections in a slightly more progresive direction, v. nice. Alveol and Genoveva give us a lush warm finisher, electronica/deep crossover at it's best. In the year 1973, electronic instrument manufacturer Roland introduced the RE-201 tape delay. This machine became a highly sought after fx unit and is still playing a substancial role in many modern studios, however it is better known by the name ‘Space Echo’. When Luv Shack’s Lee Stevens sat down with fellow Austrian producer caTekk, and – after a long dialogue about music, life and reverb effects – they decided to team up in the studio, it came as no surprise they chose the name of this very effects unit for their project. Their focus is all on modern day dance music, yet ‘Space Echo’ share a very distinct passion for the different musical origins of what we now call house, dance or nu-disco which always comes into play in their productions. For LUVCAST 011, Lee Stevens and caTekk have cooked up a brilliant ‘Space Echo’ mix, which takes us from tough uk house to high brow scandinavian neo-disco with perfect ease.
