In this episode, I sit down with the passionate Alanna Kaivalya to explore the lost — yet ever-present — power of the feminine. While modern women have more freedom than ever to shape our lives and careers, many of us still measure success through a masculine lens, chasing goals and strategies that don't reflect our deepest desires. This conversation is not about rejecting the masculine, but about reclaiming the feminine — the intuitive, connective, and compassionate energy that too often gets sidelined. Alanna, a bestselling author and spiritual teacher, shares insights from her new book The Way of the Satisfied Woman, a powerful guide for anyone seeking an alternative path to fulfillment.Together, we discuss how embracing the feminine can liberate us from burnout, invite greater ease, and reconnect us with what matters most: meaningful relationships, inner peace, and authentic expression.Alanna Kaivalya, PhD is a bestselling author, educator, thought leader, and expert on mythology, spirituality, psychology, and women's empowerment. The author of Sacred Sound and Myths of the Asanas, she earned a doctorate in mythological studies with an emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and is the host of The Satisfied Woman podcast. In this conversation, Alanna discusses:What defines femininity Why connecting with the femininity is more important than everWhat models of satisfaction look like for the modern womanHow women don't realize how minimized and oppressed they areThe definition of "satisfaction"Her run-in with facebookMasculinity and feminityCurating your lifeFour keys to a satisfied lifeRelearning how to interactTrustThe habit of apologizingVisit Alanna's website Listen to The Satisfied Woman podcast________ Listen to some absurd and unhelpful nonsense Inside the Box with Claire and Wendy podcast BECOME YOUR OWN SHAMAN Introductory Online Course Visit Wendy's website to learn more about the the Harmonic Egg®  Lucid Cafe episodes by topic  Listen to Lucid Cafe on YouTube  ★ Support this podcast ★

“To have a father who delights in knowing and loving them is one of the greatest blessings any girl can have.”In the third and final ‘square-table' conversation, Andy and Stephen are joined by Jonny McKane and Evan Reid, to talk about raising daughters today.—Reflection from Stephen:We can sometimes fight against the reality that our daughters will one day become women and will leave home. As Andy says near the end of this episode: “I don't want my daughter to change!”Who relates? I know I want my one and half year old daughter to forever stay small, cute and slightly squidgy! At the heart of this feeling is a mix of love and joy. Yet, what I learned in this conversation was that the loving, joyful relationship between a father and his daughter is foundational and formative in her journey to womanhood.Of course, there is much we need to think about as we raise our girls (and we cover a lot in this episode), but never underestimate the place of joy.To have a father who delights in knowing and loving them is one of the greatest blessings any girl can have.In this conversation we talk about:The joys of being a father to a daughterHow we can exasperate themHopes and fears as your daughter grows from girl to womanHow a father-daughter relationship changes over timeJourneying with the emotions of your daughterNot being scared to speakCherishing her now while preparing her for the futureTwo songs for fathers with DaughtersBe kind to yourself - by Andrew PetersonA song from a father to a teenage daughter. We challenge any father to watch this video and have dry eyes at the end.V2"I know it's hard to hear it when the anger in your spirit is pointed like an arrow to your chest. When the voices in your mind are anything but kind, and you can't believe your father knows best.I love you just the way that you are, I love the way He made your precious heart.Be kind to yourself"Banks - By NEEDTOBREATHEA song about caring without controlling.Chorus:"I want to hold you close, but never hold you back.Like the banks of a river"

It's hard to think of anything changing more quickly in our society right now than our understanding of gender. There's an explosion of young people identifying as gender nonconforming in some way or another, and others are coming out as transgender or nonbinary throughout their lives, from childhood to old age. But this sea change has brought with it an enormous amount of confusion and resistance. As of July, lawmakers in 21 states had introduced bills that focus on restricting gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth, such as hormone blockers, and 29 states had introduced bills banning transgender youth from sports. But we also know that the degree of support a young person receives when coming out — or doesn't — can have profound consequences for their mental health. How should we process and understand this moment in gender? Kathryn Bond Stockton is a distinguished professor of English focusing on gender studies at the University of Utah and the author of the book “Gender(s).” She is incredibly skilled at explaining the fundamentals — and complexities — of what gender means and how people, including Stockton herself, have wrestled with it. In this conversation, we discuss:Why and how Stockton has always felt out of place as a womanHow her entry to the evangelical church actually advanced her acceptance of her genderWhy gender is “queer” for all of us, regardless of how we identify or how much we think about itThe ways that we perform our genders without even knowing we're doing itHow the choices parents make concerning things as seemingly banal as clothing and toys shape children's gender identitiesHow an expanded sense of gender can bring pain as well as pleasure and playfulnessWhat Stockton has learned from discussions about gender roles with Mormon students in her Utah classroomsWhat we would gain — and possibly lose — if we were to loosen social categories of genderWhy Pride celebrations can be so utopianAnd much more.Mentioned:Detransition, Baby by Torrey PetersButch Queens Up in Pumps by Marlon M.
