CATCH THE SUMMIT LIVE July 12th 2023 @ 8:00 am-1:00 pm PST My name is Emma Ferrick, and I am the founder of the ELF Operations Consulting firm. I help driven entrepreneurs earn more while working less through my Optimization Framework to ensure they don't waste time or money when scaling their businesses. Prior to helping clients find balance and joy in their businesses, I graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Operations Management and a Yellow Belt in Lean Six Sigma which led me to work full-time as a Project Scheduler. What started out as a side hustle quickly grew into a thriving business (which has now become my business's motto: Thrive Over Survive). It's the third episode of the series, and things are far from being settled in the villa. With two new bombshells entering, the possibility of heads turning is higher than ever. Quick debrief, Tanya and Shaq kiss finally (yay), Olivia is more physically attracted to Haris (weird), and Will is the islander we never knew we needed on this show. There's just something about a quiet confidence. Tanya and Ron go on dates with our new islanders David and Zara and we have A LOT of thoughts, some of them being: cheaper products are easier to get your hands on; if there's one thing we're gonna do, it's be upfront about our feelings; and to quote Tanyel, "if you don't rate yourself, how can you keep a man on his toes?"

Mike and Steve kick off with WHITETAIL, about a family trying to bond after a tragedy by shooting a deer, only to find something more sinister out in the woods! Mike and Will then take a look at THE GHOSTS OF BORLEY RECTORY, the second film to be set in Borley by prolific director Steven M Smith. His previous film ended up hanging around the DVD top 100 chart for months - time will tell if this does as well! Our Short Shot is YELLOWBELT FURY in which a woman starts taking karate lessons to wreak vengeance on the aliens who killed her husband! Finally our DTV Throwback is TIGER HOUSE, a British home-invasion style movie starring Dougray Scott and Ed Skrein. Excerpt: "How I like to Approach it, that is that is we need to be acquainted with violence and how it functions in order to have a proper relationship with it. Not that your going to be like you know just tossing and becoming a more violent and more aggressive person but you need to have a relationship to it. So, you know that's the same thing with uh, if we are talking firearms, ...that's a thing in Buddhist...philosophy, there's a notion called weapons principle. If somebody is standing there.. brandishing a sword hold it high in the sky, like you know people are going to react in turn, there is a certain energy to it. So its like relating to that, lets rather have a relationship to it rather than just shying away." Hugo is a UTKM Yellow belt who ironically found Krav Maga through his Buddhist meditative practices with the Shambala Buddhist organization. Originally from South Africa he moved to Canada as a teenager and eventually found his way into programming where he works with Activision. When he got involved in the Shambhala organization he also became involved in the Droje Kasung which is the security and training division of the organization to protect its self, its teachers, and practitioners from unwanted harm. He and his wife also founded the Not for Profit Organization People Ensuring Animal Care Exist or P.E.A.C.E to help find safe haven and sanctuary for animals particularly of the Farm Variety. In this episode, we discuss his Buddhist practices and philosophies, Martial Arts, Use of Force, Veganism, Ethics and morality, and much more as we discuss the quandaries of what it means to be human. I just completed my Yellow Belt test at Mystic Dojo - Yamashita International Karate. Yellow Belt is a relatively low level, so I'm still learning basics. During the test, I got to watch the higher ranks test as well. They are impressive. They are quick, strong, powerful. As I was watching, I realized how much work it must take to get there. While the lower ranks were told to sit, the advanced ranks continued on for more than an hour. Kicking. Punching. Doing kata and bunkai. It looked exhausting. Part of me said, "I don't know if I want to go that far. That looks hard." But the other part said, "That's why we're here. That looks awesome." Has this ever happened in your life? Have you pulled back because something seemed too hard? Too much school? Too much work? Too much risk? To much fear? You know what the crazy part is. Most times, when you push past that fear and actually do it, the result turns out to be more awesome, and the pain so much less than you expected. Want to talk about how to focus on the awesome? THE DAILY ARTICLE FOR JULY 6, 2020 For the thirteenth time in the last fourteen years, Joey Chestnut won the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. However, as a sign of the times, Saturday's event was held at a private location rather than in front of large crowds as in the past and the judges wore masks. This weekend, we saw a July Fourth like no other in living memory. In today's podcast, we focus on a biblical declaration that leads to God's blessing despite all circumstances, then we pause to make commitments that lead to his best in our lives today. ABOUT THE DENISON FORUM The Daily Article is a daily biblical commentary on the news of the day by Dr. Jim Denison. Do you remember the moves in your best Escape-Kata? Do you still have your Yellow Belt? Is it JuJitsu or Jiu Jitsu?? Mixed Martial Arts aka MMA, is America's newest mega-sport. The UFC is now endorsed by ESPN and riding high alongside the likes of the top 3, Baseball, Basketball and Football. Although technically still less popular than classic sports like Hockey, Golf and Tennis, It's safe to say MMA is cooler than most of these sports combined…after all it is one person pitted against another, engaged in a simulated Death-Match inside a cage. Although it's a sensitive topic to old-school fans of boxing, MMA looks to be leaving the “Sweet Science” behind as the more complex, unpredictable and exciting combat sport. Faster paced, more aggressive and infinitely more dynamic, MMA as the more pure style of fighting and fundamentally connected to our DNA and the human condition, as limited-rules fighting obviously predates every other sport ever invented by mankind. That is a tough formula to contend with and could lend one to believe that MMA could one day be planet Earth's number one sport. If you know anything about modern MMA then you've most likely heard of the Gracie family, who's modified version of (Brazilian) Jiu Jitsu aka BJJ has literally taken the world by storm as the premier Martial Art style of real-world self defense and elite level combat-competition. Coop&Myan are always excited about their guests but this week on Unofficial, our new friend, David, really amps it up as he brings his intimate knowledge of the Gracie family and over a decade of BJJ education. As a purple belt, David could wrap most people up like a pretzel, regardless of his imposing, 6'2”, 190 lb. frame, after all that's what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is all about, using technique despite size, to manipulate and overpower someone trying to do you harm…or of course for competition to see who might be the “better man.” (or woman) So if you don't know that in Brazil, the letter “R” sounds like an “H”, what it's like to be frightened of someone half your size or if you simply want a quick backstory on the origins of the infamous and extremely complex family of the Gracies, then tune in for a corker this week as Unofficial goes Mixed Martial Arts all over your asses and wraps you up in the deadliest triangle you never saw coming...the one on your brain.
Special guest, Susie Hall, also known as Mom, who was in town for my son's Yellow Belt testing in Krav Maga, and my daughter's dance recital, took some time after they went to bed to join me for a glass of wine (or two) and talk about the last movie she watched, the cult classic, Clue.

ANDY CROWE ● BILL YATES ● NICK WALKER NICK WALKER: Welcome to Manage This, the podcast by project managers for project managers. We get together every two weeks to talk about what matters to you as a professional project manager, whether it's certification issues or creating and implementing successful projects. We draw on the expertise of experts in the field and share their challenges and successes. I'm your host, Nick Walker, and beside me are the two in-house experts who guide our discussion, Andy Crowe and Bill Yates. And Andy, you know, folks go online, they look at your bio, and they see all these letters behind your name. And probably most of our listeners are familiar with most of those letters, those acronyms. But there's one, a Black Belt Six Sigma. Should I be dodging blows here? What is the Black Belt Six Sigma? ANDY CROWE: It's funny, Nick. It's a Six Sigma Black Belt. What it is, Six Sigma has different levels of credentialing. And there's Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt, and Master Black Belt Trainer. So I'm somewhere in the middle there in terms of that. What it is, it's funny, there's a lot of project management certifications out there. We've talked about the PMP before. We've talked about the PMI-ACP. We've probably touched on the Program Management Professional and Portfolio, the PgMP and the PfMP, and certainly the Certified Associate in Project Management, the CAPM. A lot of alphabet soup there. And it's really funny because, even when I go do project management conferences, and people introduce me as a Six Sigma Black Belt, a lot of people in the room don't know what that is. They think it's some martial art. It's not. It's related to quality. It's a quality certification. And it's really the topic of today's podcast is about Six Sigma, about Lean Six Sigma – which is something a little bit different – and how those work and how they can benefit. NICK WALKER: Is this a certification that's been around a long time? Or is this something that's fairly new? ANDY CROWE: It's been around a while. Now, what happened with that, when it first came out, there wasn't a lot of structure as to who owned the certification. It was one of those things that a lot of different organizations were able to give that. And then that's changed. We'll talk about that later in the podcast a little bit, about how that's evolved, who's vying for kind of control of that certification, what that looks like, as well. BILL YATES: There are a couple of key components here that I want Andy to explain to the audience, Nick, because if there's a Lean component, then there's a Six Sigma component. And I like where we're headed with some background here, where this thing, where this movement began because it is all related to quality. And so Andy, what about Lean? When did that really come into play? ANDY CROWE: Lean is an amazing philosophy by itself. So it's a series of practices. And what Lean is trying to do is get rid of waste. Now, this is useful in a bunch of organizations. But it's really, really useful in manufacturing projects. So if you have a project that has manufacturing, this is where it comes in. Lean really came into vogue at Toyota. And so it started after World War II. It really picked up steam in the ‘70s and ‘80s. And this is when Toyota started surpassing, and Honda and some of these organizations started really surpassing U.S. manufacturing. And I've lived through it. I watched it firsthand, that it absolutely did. You know, there were times when, if you got 80,000 miles out of some U.S. cars, that was good. And then, you know, some of the Toyotas were getting 200,000 miles. And it was just astonishing what they were able to do. Well, they got there through a number of things. Lean was part of it. So Lean really talks about – the acronym we use in Lean is TIMWOOD, T-I-M-W-O-O-D. And what it is,
