Meet Rachel Duncan, a financial and art therapist based in Denver, Colorado. Through her company, The Money Healing Club, Rachel helps clients work through their money related trauma and form a healthier relationship with their finances. Her career journey took many twists and turns until she finally realized what her real passion was: financial therapy. Rachel offers one-on-one therapy and a group membership. Through this work, she helps people think and talk about money more openly, work towards financial goals, and set boundaries around money. The work she does with people helps them to realize where their trauma around money comes from and how they can begin the healing process.Key takeaways:Money is neutral-our feelings about money are a trauma response based on situations or people in our lives. Art therapy is a great way to help people work towards breaking down these trauma responses and form a healthier relationship with money. Financial therapy is really trauma work!A client can only go as far in therapy as their therapist has gone themselves-if a therapist who has not worked on their own financial trauma will have a difficult time helping others.“Noble poverty” is something that is systemic and is institutionalized. It indoctrinates people in the helping field to believe that their work should not be equally paid in comparison to other professions with the same level of education. The mental health profession attracts people who truly want to help others and thus are more likely to undervalue their work which ultimately makes it more difficult for them to be good therapists!Who are we to say what someone else can afford? If asking for a higher rate makes you uncomfortable, then find some ways to give back to your community outside of your private practice work.Rachel's links:WebsiteInstagramYouTube
In this conversation, Jim interviews Enneagram expert Doug Lynam, who shares his unique journey from a wealthy upbringing to a 20-year stint as a Benedictine monk, and finally to a career in finance and writing. Doug discusses the complexities of money, personal development, and the Enneagram, emphasizing how our childhood experiences shape our financial behaviors and beliefs. He introduces the concept of 'money monsters' and explores the importance of healing our relationship with money through understanding our sacred wounds and attachment styles. 3 Key Takeaways: Money Trauma: Early experiences often shape lifelong beliefs and behaviors about money. For example, conflicting messages about money during Doug's childhood created confusion and avoidance. Enneagram and Financial Behavior: The Enneagram gives us a structured way to understand the emotional undercurrents that drive financial decisions. Doug explains how each type reflects specific emotional reactions to early stress and outlines how these patterns can be recognized and redirected. From Scarcity to Strategy: Shifting from a scarcity mindset to a values-based financial strategy involves identifying emotional triggers, building awareness, and creating systems that support intentional decision-making over inherited habits. Let's talk about something most people never say out loud: What if deep down, you believe money isn't safe? Not because you're lazy or self-sabotaging—but because you saw what money did to your family. Because money got used to manipulate, control, or destroy. Because wealth made someone you loved a target. And now, even though you want abundance, your nervous system is quietly screaming, “Danger.” In this episode, I'm answering a question that hit me hard: How has money actually made you safer—as a person and as a mom? This is not about “money solves everything” or chasing some soft life fantasy. It's about real, grounded ways that having money changed the level of threat in my life. From leaving toxic situations, to parenting with less panic, to breaking cycles of financial control—I'm sharing the tangible, sometimes messy, ways that money has made me feel more protected, less reactive, and more powerful. Sit in on this juicy conversation between Luis and interior designer Olga Naiman. They discuss creating rituals and spaces that can code our environment for what it is we seek more of in life. If we learn the somatics of what it is we want to feel, we can build it in to our home. First see your home with the eyes of a stranger. Feeling lonely? Look around for what carries a sense of loneliness. Release the items that are antithetical to your desires. Really want a hug instead of loneliness? Maybe find a perfectly cozy chair that feels like a cradled hug. An important part of the process is building pleasure hits of dopamine in to our home. Pleasure is the antidote to trauma. Lets turn our homes into medicine. On today's episode, Luis and Camille discuss money, money trauma, and the ways in which we may have inherited or learned about relating to money. They explore:· The relationship we have with money, rather than the money itself· Not finding safety in money, and the reality of needing money· The difference between how much money we have vs. the meaning we assign it· Exploring money solutions that lie outside the binary· Attuning somatically to the present moment ("Feeling The Now") and how the practice can help us clarify our relationship with moneyThey conclude the podcast with a lightning round, answering questions that were sent in through email. You can read more about, and register for, the Money Trauma webinar here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/events/money-trauma-how-your-body-relates-to-finances You can read more about, and register for, the Menla retreat here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/menla-retreatIf you use the discount code HLN700 before April 15th, you can get a $700USD discount off this retreat.----You can learn more on the website: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/ Learn more about the self-led course here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/self-led-new Join the waitlist to pre-order Luis' book here: https://www.holisticlifenavigation.com/the-book You can follow Luis on Instagram @holistic.life.navigationQuestions? Click for story-time with Luis as he reads a favorite chapter that was cut from his soon to be published book, FOOD THERAPY (April 2026). He posits that processed food is disassociated from the land. Often GMO crops are altered to survive glyphosate, wrecking bio-diversity, increasing chemicals, and providing reduced nutrients. Two pounds of GMO altered soy beans contained 9mg of glyphosate. No wonder 81% of the US population has recent glyphosate exposure, an exposure that increases our risk of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Cheap processed foods create conflict in the earth and disease in our bodies. Rather than depleting the soil and our bodies, organic crops, such as beans, add nitrogen back into the soil increasing biodiversity. Eating locally grown crops and animals is a symbiotic relationship that gives Luis purpose: to honor those nutrient dense plants and animals that feed and nourish his body. For him eating is a ritual prayer of gratitude to the earth. Eating close to the land allows his body to feel more, to tap in to aliveness, in all of it's discomforts. But what if you are feeling low? It's the body's way of asking to be held. As his friend Asha Frost says, "Feeling low? Go lower." Let the land hold you by eating balancing foods that connect one to the land in a relationship of reciprocity. What we eat isn't just about us, it's a vote for the land. Let's be honest… when you first hear “hypnosis,” do you think of someone clucking like a chicken or falling face-first into a lap on stage? You're not alone—and in this episode, I'm busting those myths wide open. I'm sharing the raw truth about how modern hypnosis has evolved—and how classical hypnosis, while foundational, often leaves both clients and practitioners in the dark. Here's the kicker: most classical approaches don't consistently test hypnotic depth. That means the hypnotist is guessing, the client is uncertain, and confidence (on both sides) takes a hit. You'll hear how I used to feel that same pressure early in my career—and how modern hypnosis allows us to track depth, pivot in real time, and deliver real, lasting results… all without shaking anyone's confidence. If you're a coach, energy worker, or just someone curious about the real power of hypnosis, this episode is going to blow your mind. I even share a message I got after leading a powerful group money hypnosis session. One woman reached out afterward and said, “I never would've considered hypnosis—I thought it was all clucking like a chicken. But now? I have a completely new perspective.” That right there is why I do what I do. Tune in to learn: What “modern hypnosis” really means Why testing hypnotic depth matters How your subconscious is being programmed daily—whether you know it or not And why hypnosis might be your most powerful tool for personal growth and transformation Want to see what's possible with hypnosis? Hello my loves! This conversation today is all about rewiring your nervous system to feel safe, abundant, and prosperous with money. I know this is a big, emotional topic for so many of us, myself included. The first thing I want you to understand is that how you treat one thing is how you treat everything. If you feel scarcity, lack, and never-enough in other areas of your life, that's going to translate directly to your relationship with money. Here are some of the topics discussed: How to heal your relationship with time and regulate your nervous system so you can be in a state of receiving, not constant hustle. How the trauma and wounding around money in your past creates blocks in the subconscious to truly feeling prosperous and how to reclaim those severed parts of yourself. Practices to ground yourself and become a magnet for money rather than going into fight-or-flight around money. Shifting your money mindset to see money as an energy to receive, not a reward to earn. Building a new, healthy relationship with money requires addressing the root causes in your nervous system and mindset. With consistent inner work, you can rewire yourself to be a magnet for wealth and prosperity. And, I'm here to support you every step of the way!Enrollment for the HEAL Program opens on February 24th. Check it out here!

Transforming Your Financial Journey[00:09:01] “That was when I realized, wow, I have just been following someone else's recipe for success and it does not feel like that for me. I did what I suspect a lot of people would do once they figure out that they are in a massive amount of debt. I googled how to get out of debt and how to get out of debt fast.”[00:16:16] “And so one day a week on my screenless Sunday, I don't have to impress anybody. I don't have to do anything to try to convince people of who I am or how I'm valued. And I just be, and that one habit that I have implemented for the last couple of years now has done such wonders for both my mental health and my wealth building journey. Because I started to see, oh, actually there's a lot of things that I can do that brings me peace and actually makes me feel like a valuable person that doesn't rely on external validation.” [00:39:23] “I've had hundreds of people to test this [CRUSH] framework on over the last eight years.
