A dark night in the bright city. Jackson dashes down an alleyway, a shadow looming behind them. They clutches the attache case close to they chest as they squeeze past a dumpster and into a space that would generously be described as snug for even the overfed cats that dine on the garbage nearby. Em’s close behind, reaching into the tiny space up to their elbow to reach after Jackson, unable to go any further. Growling, they climb up the dumpster, leaping onto the lowest rungs of the fire escape as they use the window to get into the hallway of the building Jackson is squeezing past. As they leap down the steps two at a time, they don’t see the slender cane extend between the bars of the railing until it’s too late, and their’s sprawled out on the cold tile floor of the foyer of the building.Destiny emerges from behind the stairs, nudging Em’s arm aside with her cane as she steps outside, just to see Jackson emerge from the alleyway and stop to look behind him for pursuit. It’s a distraction they can ill afford. They don’t even feel the needle slip under their skin, they just feels himself sag against the wall as Destiny steps up beside them and removes the case from their now flaccid hands. “Thanks,” she says. “It’s game over for you, though.”She turns to walk away, Jackson gasping trying to yell after her, their knees buckling as they falls back into the alleyway, and both of them disappear back into the bustle of the city. You can get our podcast on iTunes, on Stitcher, or you can download it directly by clicking here. This Month’s Game Club: FramedOctober’s Game Club: Castlevania: Symphony of the NightGames Discussed: The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Tomorrow Never Dies, Morning Mario Returns!, Civilization V, Three Beers Deep, our conversation with Lana Polansky, Framed, Hideo Kojima’s tweet, Angry Birds, Boom Blox, Doctor Who, Grim FandangoMusic This EpisodeBlown Away by Kevin MacLeodBaba Yetu by Christopher TinFramed Soundtrack by Adrian MooreThe Fragrance of Dark Coffee by Noriyuki IwadareKapp’n’s Song by Shohei Tsuchiya

We have returned and are about to go a bit retro. Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Justin are in search of a list of fair competitive video games across all of the eras to create new game tournaments for our listeners and for upcoming Horrible Night Outs. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow We will not be dettered by failed recordings. The Horrible Show is back because before we talk about video games, we know you wanted to hear all about Cole’s reality TV adventures and wherever else the Threesomes of the Week takes us. Actually, we hope you survived the Threesomes enough to make it to our favorite multiplayer memories and our On the Spot question. Where we bring to light the age old question of why would you play Madden when you can play NFL Blitz? This is all of course just to set the mood as we have a real mission this week: to come up with some compelling classic competitive games for game tournanments for our listeners and potentially for upcoming Horrible Night Outs. It’s a veritable free-for-all as we look at games we grew up and onto some current favorites. Which Smash Bros is the best choice? Is Geometry Wars 2 better without shooting? Maybe puzzle games are better than we think they are. Is StarCraft II even an option for new players? I’m sure we don’t have the answers, but we did get a great list out of our discussion. Let us know what games we missed so we can continue build some compelling contests in the near future. Then, we can’t help but announce the next Horrible Night Out on July 8th as we return to Net Heads where we hope to game with our Indy listeners and their friends. On our way off the air, an epiphany strikes Cole and Justin G as they finally discover a use for handheld gaming devices. Now that we’ve been schooled by the curator Art of Video Games, Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Justin finish their analysis of the winners lists and move on to the modern eras. From the N64 to the PS3 see which selections awed us and which raised eyebrows. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Truthfully, we could have gone another full episode on the Art of Video Games exhibition, but we do somehow manage to get through the modern eras this week. That isn’t until after we take a Ninja detour through Swamp Brothers territory. Then, it’s all about the games, where we show arcade games some love and make some of nominations of our own because every museum needs Splatterhouse representation. In Era 4 we realize just how damn fun the Nintendo 64 was and mourn Sega’s confusion and demise. Era 5 leads to a good old fashioned fight over the legitimacy of Fallout 3, but we come together in the end to express our adoration for the exhibition as a whole. Our Horrible Game Night is coming up soon and Justin answers questions about our featured games. Ethan takes us home with a man-sized hug for Serious Sam. Would someone think of the adults? Actually we do, all the time. We just haven’t discussed it until our special guest Nathan gave Justin, Cole, and Ethan an excuse to talk about managing your game time as adult and family responsibilities increase. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Growing up a gamer may seem easier than being a grown up gamer. That doesn’t you should give up, and we’re here to help. Before it gets too heavy, we should officially introduce you to Nathan – The Prophecy – who has vanished from the site in recent weeks thanks to the birth of his twins. We welcome him back with our Threesomes of the Week where Cole is confused that Inception didn’t confuse him at all. The On the Spot Question asks – what is your greatest gaming marathon session? You can almost hear Nathan tearing up recalling memories of Final Fantasy VII. Those marathons may be behind us, but there is still plenty of gaming left ahead in our adult lives. We take a look at how game time has changed from our bachelor days on through marriage and having children. Along the way we highlight games that your significant others can enjoy, and a few that may have them worried about your stability. Hopefully we saved each other and you from a potential real life fight due to video games. Of course, who says we know what we are talking about? After all, we are the types of people that can spend from now until the game comes out debating the Mass Effect 3 trailer. The guys spill their guts this week when Justin, Cole, and Ethan unveil their games of shame. Animal Crossing, Zombie Run, flower, Cubivore, and others come out from the shadows for judgment and to face new and questionable ratings system. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Apologies for the audio difficulties and volume levels on this one. Let’s just say we overcompensated. Christina has the week off so the guys try and man up to face their most embarassing games. Ethan and Cole continue their grand tradition of talking through bad movies in our Threesomes of the Week. If that didn’t drive enough listeners away, the On the Spot question wants to know – What types of gamers embarass you? – where things get a bit sweaty and uncomfortable for our Warcraft friends. Let’s get this straight, we love our games of shame and we will keep right on playing them, but let’s face it there has to be a way to make them a little less shameful. Of course, there may be no hope for Ethan who once again thinks it’s ok to run around with zombies in real life. Got a question about why we are defending these games? Hit us up on our new Formspring account and see if you can save us. We are still looking out for you though and give you a few black Friday shopping tips before we escape to our food coma for the rest of the week.
