Try out the weekly class Today I'm going to talk about what I find a sad subject, and it is about unsupportive friends and unsupportive family members. And I'm gonna give you a few points and things to think about. So that you can have the support, at least from me, and I'll talk about getting more support in a moment, that helps you when you're dealing with this. Now, the first thing, and I know because, man, I hated this word when I first learned it, was boundaries. Learning to set boundaries, clearly communicate your goals and values to others, and establish boundaries when necessary. This helps you to protect your energy and stay focused on what matters most to you without having that negativity affect you. Now, I think that's really important, and I'm going to say something about boundaries in a moment, but I also need to teach you this little phrase. Don't go to the hardware store for lemons. If you know that a family member or a particular friend is not supportive of your acting career, here's an idea stop talking to them about it. Stop talking to them about it. You have a choice. Here's another idea. They call, you find them difficult to deal with this particular person. Don't pick up the phone. Let it go to voicemail. And call them back when you feel strong. When you feel strong. There's another great phrase. I just thought of it. I learned this in a 12 step program, which is Don't dial pain. Or don't text pain. If that person, if you know that person, is not going to give you the empathy, the love, the support that you need, go to someone else, and if you don't know who to go to, oh, for goodness sakes, please shoot me an email. Email me The other thing here and it goes right into it, is you want to limit negative interactions. When I go to places where I don't feel that I'm really going to be supportive, I remind myself that all I need to do is be civil and polite. And sometimes if it's like a party, I can ask questions. And just listen to other people. I don't have to be giving everything of myself. It's not required. It's not my duty to entertain people. I can ask them how their lives are doing. And I am going to walk away feeling, one, good that I was there for another person, but two, also that I have protected myself. Limit negative interactions. If there are certain people consistently undermining your efforts, consider reducing the time you spend with them. I always say there's another phrase that is arrive late and leave early, arrive late and leave early. And also, the restroom can be a wonderful place to just reconnect yourself, to gather your thoughts, to gather your resolve. If you're in situations that you can't get out of your family. For example, I, by the way my parents are the most supportive people in the whole world, so I can't imagine not having supportive family members. But I have had unsupportive friends, so I can relate. You want to support yourself with positivity whenever possible to keep your motivation strong. That's one of the things that is so freaking wonderful about that weekly adjustment class. We are All supporting each other. It's such a wonderful class on that line. Seek external support. We cannot do this on our own. It takes a village. We want to find like minded individuals who can uplift and encourage you and whether that is through an online community or getting a mentor or having supportive friends. Those are the people you want to be support surrounding you yourself with as much as possible because their reinforcement can balance out any negativity from other people. I think it does so much more than balance it out. I think it tips the scale. Also, Remember to stay focused on your vision. Remind yourself of why you are pursuing your goals. And remind yourself that you are worth it. And that you were put on this planet for a reason. And it is worth you standing up for. Focus on your vision. on your long term vision. When you do that, it helps you to remain steadfast, even when those around you may not. Support your choices. Don't abandon yourself, and don't abandon your dreams. You are worth it. You are worth it. Finally, respond with compassion. Oof, this is a toughie. Sometimes, unsupportive friends or families, family, may be acting out because of their own fears or their own misunderstandings. Try to respond with empathy, but don't let their worries derail your progress. Focus on your path, knowing that their opinions do not define your self worth. If someone is saying that I'm worried that you're in a risky job, with your goal of being an actor. Tell them that you can handle it. Tell them how much you love and appreciate that they're concern, but that you've got this and that all you ask is that they love you. They don't even have to support you, but just that they love you. Just that they're your friend. And then you can make the mental note of whether they heard that or not, and of whether you go to them again. Whatever you don't quit five minutes before the miracle. Don't do it. Keep going. Consistence. Persistence. Tenacity.

Our confession has power because it is rooted in the word of God.As believers our ultimate confession of Faith is found in Romans 10:8-10 Romans 10:8-10: 8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. The word confession means saying two things at the same time to mean the same thing.Meaning, your heart and your mouth must be saying the same thing, passing across the same message. So, don`t pray about something in your bedroom and confess something else when You are being asked about the situation. Whatever you confess when you are only, you should also say that same thing when being around other people. As you say it in private, you have to say it in the public Faith is highly depending on our speaking.Consistence of speaking in Faith is important. It should be always on your lips.Faith is not the denier with your lips of the present situation.Never express yourself in a way that people are pitying youThe moment that happened you should know that you haven't express Faith. If you believe, it will show in your words. It is very easy for you to say something without believing it and it is also very difficult for you to believe something without saying it. Math 12:34: Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speakth. Ensure of saying and believing the right stuffs. Heb 10:23: 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) In Heb 10:23, we see that we have been instructed to hold fast the profession of our Faith. The word “profession”means confession. This verse is referring to the confession of our Faith.Hold fast shows that it can slip, it is not the faith that would slip but you. For it is possible for the believer to let go.It is possible for a believer to stop confession. We are called to hold and not let go. Don't get tired or wavering of confessing what God has promise to you.The word of God is always truth irrespective of your circumstance because of the integrity of the Word of God. The integrity of the Word of God is highly dependent on the character of God himself. His un-changeableness is why His Word will never change. We depend on the never changing ability, never changing strength, never changing power of the Word of God. Our Faith, which is Christ Faith, is that which we use to confess, as stated in Heb.12:2. Heb 12:2: 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/assumpta-widak/message

Happy to welcome BOHO and Mr. Bizz at Katermukke, we present their 3 track release called 'Fixing'. Starting off with the equally named track, our ears hear rolling melodic techno, which fires sirens surrounded by a constantly catchy groove. Keeping a captivating groove the two are diving into a deeper realm with 'Auroris'. And finally there is 'Consistence'. The calm beat and the hopeful synth line lying underneath turn it into a wishful dream.

One of my most-read posts on the blog is called, “Creating Absentee Owner Letters that Get a Great Response”, and I will put a link to that blog post in the show notes. Both letters and postcards work for marketing to absentee owners, and I used letters for many years. However, today I want to look at the benefits of using postcards when you’re marketing to these folks. Not only are there financial benefits to using postcards rather than letters, but there’s another big reason you might want to choose postcards when marketing to absentee owners. They get read! Here Are Some Statistics According to the company, “The Address”, they have a 100% open rate. That’s pretty obvious since there’s nothing to open. They go on to say this: 54% of postcards are read by the recipients – they are the most read type of DM 56% of consumers say they have tried a new business after receiving direct mail 70% of consumers have renewed a previous business relationship after receiving direct mail 90% of Americans prefer the personal aspects of direct mail over email The direct mail marketing association found that postcard marketing leads have the cheapest cost per lead compared to any other marketing method. That’s pretty impressive. According to Hub Spot, although direct mail’s response rate has dropped over time, it’s still a valuable tool for marketers and salespeople. The Direct Marketing Association found direct mail’s response rate is 4.4% — compared to 0.12% for email. In my experience, it’s a little lower than that for real estate investors; it’s more like 1-2% What I Found in My Business When I tested postcards against my direct mail letter specifically for absentee owners, I found that postcards performed just as well if not better in some instances than letters. When Should You NOT Use Postcards? This answer is simple. For probates. People that have lost a loved one find it insensitive to receive a “we buy houses” postcard in the mail. In fact, they probably will never do business with you if you use postcards. Marketing, in general, is different for probates. If you want to learn about probates and how to market to this very lucrative niche, check out my course Probate Investing Simplified. Show Notes Out of state absentee owners have always been a group of sellers that I have had good luck with. I like to call these deals “marketing money”. I always knew I wasn’t going to be a millionaire from just this one niche, but it was lucrative enough to pay for all my marketing for the year. What is the best size postcard to use? Which design is better? What should the focus of your message be? Getting your list Which days of the week are best for sellers to receive your mail? One of the major benefits of using a small postcard The two main reason postcards out-perform letters in many One of the major reasons you may not be getting good results Fatal flaws in direct mail campaigns Final Thoughts If you get these 4 things right, you’ll be on the road to success: Your list The perfect mail piece for this group of people Your message. Remember, “Don’t try to sell steaks to a vegetarian.” Consistence in your mailings Quick Question… Do you have better results with letters or postcards when mailing to absentee owners? Let me know! What is really in the way of you having the personal training career you want? I'm unpacking it right now. I encourage you to stay with me all the way through this episode. Above all, don't let COVID19 be an excuse to hide behind. Let it be a reason to dig in. Over 35 years ago The late summer sun felt delicious on my skin. It wasn't warm enough for a bathing suit any more, but I'd rolled up my sleeves and kicked off my shoes to lie on the lounge chair for a few minutes. I wanted these moments to last. These moments when I was a young adult just beginning to take on responsibilities and still at home for a long weekend feeling cared for, safe, secure. It was predictable. And beyond this was anything but. First job, new apartment new city. But my mom dropped a bomb on me. I had assumed from some random segment of a conversation I remembered incorrectly that my mom's marriage to my step-dad was because of me. It was the right thing to do. I very likely had overheard a conversation or had one with my mom and that was where I apparently had left the room. I carried around guilt or the impression that I had to be good or that my parents had settled to provide security and safety for me. Can you imagine what that would be like and how you might feel pressure to be perfect, never make a mistake, stay within boundaries? Whatever those things looked like to you? Your Personal Training Career Look, we're in strange times right now. And this may feel like a story for another time. But stay with me here. This is absolutely a story for right now. Because I don't know about you but I can create stories inside my head and believe them for years- like the example above I believed from the time I was 7 until I was 25 that my parents were married because of me, not love. I made decisions about what I could and couldn't do, who I could and couldn't be based on that for a very long time. We all do make choices based sometimes on false assumptions. We can get messages between 3 and 7 years old that if we don't revisit why we have these limiting beliefs will hold us back. So you may be in paralysis right now. COVID19 is doing that to many. Is it you? You kind of want to hole up with a blanket and suck your thumb? Or dig into chips and watch old movies… whatever it is, it's okay for a while. But if you're ready to take some control and feel better because of it, then keep listening to this episode. Self-doubt Now and Before Self-doubt may actually be leftover from your youth. Some message you got, even if it was WRONG could be influencing you still today. Between the ages of 3 and 7 your foundations are laid. Did you know you could be operating on a set of beliefs that are only that, but they're so powerful they are the basis of how you make decisions, choices, and take action or avoid action. What happened the year you were 3? What happened the year you were 4? What happened the year you were 5? What happened the year you were 6? What happened the year you were 7? PS - there's no couch and I'm not a therapist. However, if you want something, and what you have to do to get it is something you're in conflict with, it's absolutely worth exploring this. The Real Questions (1) Are you operating on the wrong belief? Do you really know WHAT it is to do now? Do you know how to really find what people need and want and will buy right now? Or at least in the future when we're through the worst? Do you believe that people aren't spending money? Stop. Last week a client I had talked to for 10 minutes sent me a check for $7500. When she said “the check's in the mail” on Friday, I did what most of us do. I smiled. Monday? There it was. Not all people are not spending money. Not all people are unwilling to train online. If you don't do it, offer, get sessions booked on Skype and Facetime for them, they'll find someone else who is doing it. - it's changed from what you believe – it's not dieting, it's not eating less, it's not that if you “love food” or “love to eat” you can't be healthy – the two actually are both required and need to co-exist foods you learned to eat as “healthy” no longer are a one-healthy-foods-list-fits-all exercise you learned to do is no longer the best way to attain energy, optimal hormone balance the calorie deficit alone you thought was required is not the answer to any long term success (2) Are you not doing it once you DO know what to do? When no one is looking? Are you doing the right things repeatedly? You would ask your clients this wouldn't you? When I'm not with you, are you doing the workouts? Are you reaching fatigue? Are you lifting heavy enough? Are you doing it the way I instructed you? I'm going to come back to this in a short while because you really need to know WHAT to be doing right now. If you've convinced yourself there isn't anything? You're wrong. You can be proactive and those that are ready when this is over, or who in fact are creating something that people want and need right now, may begin to grow their businesses DURING COVID19. What Will Stop You From Getting a Personal Training Career You Want You can't simply train clients at some low rate you're comfortable charging and work hard day after day doing that and make a fantastic living. That won't work. You can raise your rate if you get good and you're in demand – AND gain the confidence to do it. There's a problem in that too. The myth making more money will solve your problems At some point your lifestyle will also increase. As your revenue grows you'll want a better car, house, or you'll have children and college and your expenditures will increase as fast. So what's the answer? Some type of scalable business model where you have not only revenue from one-on-one sessions whether in person or online, but information products (courses, programs), or actual products(supplements, clothing, affiliate products) clients also want and need to be more successful that you sell as a compliment to your services. In fitness, this is the way personal training started. Member-Retention Model For some gyms this is the model still: Members join and those who personal train stay longer and get better results so they are more satisfied customers. So the revenue margin is very small on purpose. For some gyms personal training is a revenue stream, for others it is not because of the square footage and equipment, marketing, and expense invested in personal training. It in fact may not be a loss and a marketing expense similar to group fitness programs. The service is an amenity that brings people through the door where they become members in order to have access to those programs. And now? A more contemporary model is that personal training is the service, a membership is secondary. A membership is the continuity factor after a personal training or coaching transaction occurs. If you train with clients in person you then may have an app or an online membership full of videos and streaming workouts that they use between your sessions or after they've completed your sessions. You may offer nutrition support or educational resources within. In the Flipping 50 virtual membership I offer all of those. Members are invited to join after completing a program or coaching. Whether you have a hybrid business or a 100% online fitness training business, digital programming is a key to your future success and financial freedom. If you believe that by personal training one-on-one or even in pairs or small groups daily you'll grow your revenue and relax into a flow of revenue easily, you're wrong. It's Continuous There will always be a need to launch. A launch is not announcing something for sale. It's giving value again and again before you ask for the sale. At the start of a new program you have to go and get clients again. You will always need to be marketing to customers with education and value so that you stay fresh and current and support them. You won't be able to continue the same programming without freshening up your offers. Consistence and persistence doing the right actions is what successful profitable businesses do. Have You Heard of McDonald's? Indulge me in telling this story I watched the Ray Croc story the other night. I didn't care for him very much and I realize that his persona could very much reinforce the negative impression so many people already have about successful business owners. Yet, rarely do people make judgments truly knowing someone. We make judgments based on knowing ourselves and the beliefs we acquired growing up. At McDonald's the success was built on systems. The "speedy system" changed everything and initiated “fast food.” The steps were written and clear and documented and repeated for a hamburger that was the same no matter what McDonald's in the world you went to. To be successful your business has to be built on some kind of similar system. Can you Systematize or Create a Single Method? I know every client is different. You can still have a system for working with them. You build a smoothie the same way. Add greens, fruit, protein, fiber and fats, and a liquid every time. But they're different every time. You have to consistently, persistently create a method or system that can be repeated again and again. There are common denominators in your clients' journey no matter if you're working with athletes, pregnant women, or cancer patients – and anyone in between. If you repeat the same steps your most successful clients go through again and again you'll find that you already have one. You just may not have stuck to it each time. Maybe you get bored or your client wants to jump in ahead and you cave. You've Put a System to Work When you know what works and you can relay that to customers, you'll gain their respect and you will be distinctly different from any other trainer who is also certified, also passionate, also serves the same clients you do. The question you need to ask and answer honestly is, knowing this are you willing to do that work? Do the work to discover your system. AND do the work daily to share that system with others. The Daily Work That means: Making the daily phone calls to prospective clients Making daily or weekly outreach calls to media Making time to plan, create, and implement information products Following up with value-added extras with clients between sessions Even When No One Is Watching Are you doing the right thing when no one else is watching? Like right now, no boss or employer is hovering over your shoulder. No one is going to ask you at that staff meeting on Monday what you did in the last 7 days. Are you still doing what you need to do? That's the difference between fitness professionals that will succeed and those that are waiting and wishing for this to blow over and go back to the way things were. It is never going to go back to the way it was before my friends. You will decide if you want to be a part of the change in fitness and be there or if you wait for someone else to change it. All of those things – those steps I mentioned above (phone calls, content planning and creating) collectively fill you now and fill you for the future. Not taking action right now because you are scared is the wrong thing to do. Taking action – the right action – will put you in control of your future. If You Don't Want To No is not a negative answer. In fact, it will save you a lot of heartache and frustration. If you would rather find a job where you can work as a trainer for an hourly rate and only want to serve clients, you know that now. If You Do, Then What? If you answered yes, then the most important thing you can do is determine what the steps really are and research them thoroughly before you go into action. Most personal trainers begin training, and think that just getting clients and “getting through this” is the best way to start. What often happens is they are still in that mode of getting through it a year or three or five later. It always feels unstable or if it doesn't, it's a bit of a myth, because someone else is learning more, creating another service or product that clients may get an itch to try something new if you've become complacent at all. If you're not connecting between sessions, or providing additional content and support, if you're not 100% attentive and if you forget that this session is about the customer from start to end. If you forget that you have rapport with them not friendship with them, and you blur the lines of a professional relationship, you can't forget that your client always has choices. Your Personal Training Career is Built on Habits Right now, between sessions may be a long time. Anyone who is serving right now, without asking for money and making constant offers, will be serving a community who will remember it later. You aren't getting paid. What are you though? Are you really passionate and educated with something to share? How can you support your community now? What do they need? Can you cultivate relationships and resources if you don't feel you have the knowledge or background to provide it yourself? Who is an expert who can speak to supplements? Who is a sleep expert? Who is an exercise and immune-boosting expert? You can either take the lead in interviewing or in providing directly. But sitting quietly and watching will not help your audience, nor will it help your business. Right now make three choices: you want to do nothing or you're going to take action you want to do it alone or you want to get support you want support from me right now. Book a call if you want to talk about coaching right now for the moment we're in. By the time we're done we will together decide if we are well-matched for working together and what your options are. IF you are ready to take action in your business and grow it now and or be ready when more people do once again more freely invest in their health, then book a session with me to discuss your options. I want you to fill out the questionnaire you'll see a link to when you book and return it to me before our session.

Welcome to SWW …on a Monday … because we have been receiving a LOT of questions about what’s happening with this so-called “market crash”, why has the share market dropped so much, should we sell to cash to avoid massive losses? Here’s the back story The Australian share market has wiped out all its gains from the last 12 months Some say we have entered a technical "correction", plus Following a massive sell-off on Wall Street overnight It has fallen by more than 10% since its peak in late-August until October There were days last week when it was dropping 2+% in a day Why are markets tumbling? What America does, we follow, and so does the rest of the world The local market's substantial decline comes after the Dow Jones index fell more than 600 points – this wiped out all its gains since January - 10 months’ worth New York's benchmark S&P 500 index - down 3%, Nasdaq (tech heavy) - down 4.5% Australia is still faring better than some others when it comes to one-day losses; Tokyo's Nikkei (-3.4%), Seoul's Kospi (-2.5%) and Shanghai's composite index (2.6%) Why is this occurring? There’s a number of reasons, but a lot possibly comes back to investors taking profits ahead of upcoming uncertainty US Share market in 2 years rose 40% until the declines over the past few weeks Uncertainty is a major factor on share markets; People get worried, they sell their investments… so the market goes down If you aren’t certain about what tomorrow holds, how can your plan and act today for it? Certainty and confidence in the share market are the key drivers of consistent growth Markets with too much confidence turn into bubbles This will always exist in the share market; Consistence in confidence leads to overconfidence, overconfidence then leads to bubbles … but then profit taking sets in Profit taking = Selling Factors affecting sentiment and uncertainty; there are actually many things, but let’s focus on the major 4 US Midterms – Elections – Anyone heard of the blue wave coming? It is where the house and senate is voted on Among the 33 Class 1 Senate seats upfor regular election in 2018 are 23 currently held by Democrats, two by independents who caucus with the Senate Democrats, and eight by Republicans Republicans – 51 currently – All polls show Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Tennessee, North Dekota, Nebraska, Mississippi are all safe Republican – 8 seats up for re-election 6 are up for tossups – In independent states Democrats - 47 19 seats are safe There is an assumption – Republicans remain 51- Dems at 49 – but they’re still not in power. Media is saying the “blue wave” everywhere… but I don’t see it Economic advisor Larry Kudlow this week blamed the spectre of Democrat wins for falling market prices. Even if this is true, if it was the only reason for the market price fall, it is a great time to buy! Raising rates – The Fed are very quickly raising rates President Trump slammed Fed boss Jerome Powell, saying he threatened growth and appeared to "enjoy" hiking interest rates. - "Every time we do something great, he raises the interest rates," How does raising interest rates affect markets? Shares; Free cashflows of shares is used and in the equation the risk free is the denominator Analysts use the risk-free rate when they determine the intrinsic value of a stock. And the rates on Treasury securities are used as the risk-free rate. A lower risk-free rate typically translates into a higher intrinsic value. Bonds and Bond pricing; Rates rise, bond prices fall, and it’s worse the longer the duration Rate rises can hurt the valuations of both asset classes Decline of Tech - disappointing quarterly earnings from some major American companies Tech stock declines drove much of the repricing 6 of the top 10 are tech stocks Geo-political Tariffs and trade wars Geopolitical tensions with oil producer Saudi Arabia for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi EU – Low growth and Italy's conflict with the European Union regarding budget spending This could be a big one, not enough time here but will do an episode on the EU and economic breakup in a future ep We have been talking about America – Why cover it, we are in Australia? This does matter for us, not for fundamentals but ‘monkey see, monkey do’ Crowd behaviour – Share markets around the world are highly correlated. Similar factors and similar human behaviour What will cause Australia stocks to be volatile? Similar things - overarching factors mentioned before, specifically to us though: Political uncertainty is a big one; almost one Prime Minister every year for the last 7 years It’s hard to invest if you aren’t sure what is going on. As policies are likely to change so too does individual behaviour Example; You learn that the cost of bananas is likely to triple in price in two weeks’ time…most people rush out and buy bananas. When an outcome is likely from a political change, people change their behaviours prior to it even occurring What will cause Australia to have slow growth in the long term? Regulation – Stifles growth and competition by increasing barrier to entry – reduces incentive Taxation – Detracts from the reward – again, reduces incentive Examples: You can have growth with one and not the other Taxation – America after war: High taxes but low regulation, average 70-90% tax rate. There was, however, high growth. They did import a lot of gold and were one of the only developed countries not destroyed in the war Singapore had regulation but low taxes and no welfare – so, it has good growth. When you have both high taxation and high regulation, GDP growth slows; GPD growth is important as it is highly correlated with share market growth Corporate Finance / Finance at Uni – joined the Investment Banking Challenge and we had to value a merger into the future. The initial growth would be large, but once the business mature. The growth assumption is almost on par with GPD growth of the overall economy. Our History of GDP growth Used to be more volatile, but consistently higher in number As regulation increases our growth narrows down to 2-3% p.a. over time What would it take for a market collapse? Housing crash – Either from lack of demand in property plus interest rates going up a lot The housing market may decline a bit, but not like in the U.S. Fiscal Cliff – Government debt defaulting, banks defaulting Anything that destroys the nature of financial markets The Share market is related to financial markets – And also the foundation of every other company operating A lot of companies need loans and credit to operate and they get that from the banks If the banks shut down, so do a lot of other companies if they are overleveraged and can’t operate on revenues alone Should you be worried? If the money is invested for a home deposit – maybe If the money is for the long term – not really This is part of the general market cycle What’s your end goal for your investment? Ways to hedge against a collapse If you’re ok with something that carries a bit more risk: VIX, ended near 22% higher, to its highest since the turmoil during February's sell-off when markets started to perform. Not great over the longer term in a stable country. Gold – I’ll cover this in another episode next week Hold – Throughout the markets’ history, there have been collapses…ask yourself, are the markets still around? Not only are they around, most are a few percentage points off their high points What it would take to have a total market collapse – to get a 0% on all shares – Every company in Australia would need to go out of business. If that occurs we have more than our investment value to worry about. That is why it is important to be well diversified – if you only have 1, 2 or 3 companies in your portfolio the chances of 100% loss is much greater DCA in to the market – Take advantage of the downturns, but isn’t as risky as putting all into the market at the same time Example: If you have $10k to invest, put $4k in now and wait, if it goes down put another $4k in It may go up and it may go down – but at least you didn’t lose on $10k – nobody has a crystal ball In the next episode I’ll give you another side to the Trump Economy and why the US economy is has done really well until now. As always, if you have any questions hit me up at the contact page
The show must go on.... said after you know it will be terrible! Consistence is key and with the big fella on the road we gotta do what we gotta go!!! Week 4 with a W but only one nobody!!!

Paul Brunson is a Mentor, Entrepreneur and Television Host. His goal in life is to help you live your best life in love and professionally. He’s the world’s most influential matchmaker, founded and exited three businesses, hosted two television shows and spent nearly a decade working directly for a billionaire. He’s now here to share many of his experiences by mentoring and coaching thousands of people. Questions Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey What are some things you would recommend to a business owner to build stronger relationships to really come over as being authentic and true in what they are selling? As a small business owner, how do you find your mentor? How do you know that this person is someone you can connect with? What are some of the books that have had the biggest impact on you? What is the one online resource, website, tool or app that you absolutely cannot live without in your business? What is one thing in your life right now that you are really excited about – something that you are working on to develop yourself or people? Where can our listeners find your information online? What is one quote or saying that you live by or that inspires you in times of adversity? Highlights Paul Brunson shared that the last 7 years of his career where he left financing and became a Match Maker. It was really interesting as people would ask him “Are you really a match maker, is there such a thing as a Match Maker?” It was a career that he was passionate about and it allowed him to do so many things, so the biography, in terms of hosting television shows and launching other businesses, he was able to do that as a result of becoming a Match Maker. Most recently he has hosted a few television shows, “Love Town: with Oprah Winfrey” and “Preachers of the L.A” where he did the after show. He stated that he is preparing to launch a new show on ABC Primetime which is his own show where he is Executive Producing, he also launched a Match Making Agency and he also launched several other projects that he is proud of and so he stays really busy. He stated that for his entire life, he joked about doing many things and often times we all say that we hustle and have 3 or 4 jobs but what he most recently discovered over the last year and a half is a book called “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller that really changed his life. If we want to be good at things in life, we can do multiple things and be good but if you want to be great, it requires a singleness of purpose and that is what he is trying, get focused and divest out of all of his projects and just really focus on one. Yanique stated that it is important that whatever you are doing, you put 100% of yourself in it. She was reading a book that says, “You can’t effectively do things 100% at the same time,” in other words, if you are watching the television and reading a book, you are following the gist of the movie and you’re reading the book but you’re not doing both activities at 100% because it is just not humanly possible. Paul agreed with the phrase and stated that on top of that there’s a switching cost that not a lot of us realize, so you’re watching the television and at the same time you think you are working and responding to an email, technically you can’t do both at the same time so you’re only doing one but what you’re really doing is you’re going from the television to the email and when you go to the email there’s a switching cost, your mind now has to re calibrate to the email and because it is re calibrating that’s a cost and energy involved and so it re calibrates to the email then you go back to the television and has to re calibrate back to the television so there’s a cost and time allocated to that. It just goes to show that there is really no such thing as multitasking. Paul stated that for business owners to build stronger relationships they have to start with themselves, they have to start with a true examination of who they are. You can’t begin to outline what your mission is, your brand position mission statement is, you can’t come up with your marketing concepts, you can’t do any of that until you are first not only deciding of who you are but also be comfortable with who you are. There are a lot of small business owners attempt to replicate what they see other people in their industry doing and you can’t do that; you have to grasp your uniqueness. Paul Brunson says he always says your uniqueness is where your power is, that’s what differentiates you and you want to embrace that. First, know who you are and the second is to understand that effective marketing is about content marketing and a key component to content marketing is relevant, value added, consistent information so you want to always be making sure that the content you are distributing is not just relevant to you but it ties you with your customers and the experiences that your customers are going through. You want it to be value added and essentially moving them forward towards whatever they’re goal is, so if you’re helping someone get close to their goal, you are a value add to them. Consistence is tricky because if you’re leveraging Social Media, you have to be extraordinarily active and consistent in your content and not just daily content. We’re at a point now where you need multiple pieces of content to be distributed on a daily basis. So to really engage the customers for them to really know authentically who you are, doing some soul searching, you have to know who you are and you have to embrace that and you have to articulate that or convey that through consistent value added content. Yanique made reference to a video Paul Brunson posted on his Facebook Page with his mentee about “How do you know who you really are?” Paul stated that the importance of knowing who you are is critical because ultimately if you’re a small business owner or micro business owner, people are not necessarily buying you, they are buying your brand and your brand is never what you say it is, it is what everyone else says it is and so the trick is you have to figure out how do you break through the noise. He stated that he has a memorable brand and the trick to that memorable brand is being unique and a lot of people said, “Paul how can I be unique?” There are a lot of people that look like me or maybe from Jamaica but the bottom line is that every single person on this planet, everyone listening to this show, there is no one that has ever walked this earth that has had the same set of experiences like you’ve had and if you really think about that, it’s powerful because what it shows is that you have a unique perspective on life and so the key is how do you translate that unique perspective to your brand. Part of identifying and being comfortable with all of your uniqueness is in identifying that you truly do love yourself and connecting with yourself. People define self love in many different ways but he always looks at it as if you think about your optimal life in all the different facets of your life, think about your career….what’s the best career you can imagine, how much money are you making? What kind of flexibility do you have? What’s your title? Think about the best romantic relationship you could ever have, think about best spiritual relationship you could ever have, think about all those aspects of life and after you have identified the best of the best, then you ask yourself one simple question. That is simply, “Do I feel like I can reach that? Do I feel like I can get there?” Not to say there won’t be hurdles or challenges along the way or maybe you feel like you can get there but you are 20 years from it, that’s fine but the big question is “Do you feel like you can get there?” If you don’t feel like you can’t get there, if you don’t feel like it’s possible, that means you don’t feel like you can ever become your optimal self and that means you have a problem with self love. Self love is really each aspect of your life, all those categories, business, social, health, romantic and then collectively saying in all of these categories “I feel like I can become my best self” that is self love. High self esteem is just simply saying in each one of those categories “I can get there” so there’s a big difference in self esteem and self love but ultimately that’s what self love is. Paul agreed that in connecting with your mentor, it’s hard to put something on paper and match 2 people together. “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” by Sheryl Sandberg COO of Facebook wrote this book and in it she wrote something that really moved him was that, “If you have to ask someone to be your mentor, it’s too late” in other words, you can’t someone to be a real mentor to you, it jus t happens. We know that nothing just happens, so you have to put the work in, so what is the work. He stated that he wrote a blog post specifically about this, about how he was able to acquire certain mentors and that he believes that what Sheryl said was absolutely right. He never had to outright ask, the first thing is you have to make yourself mentor material. “Are you mentor material?” That’s the first question, whenever there is a problem; the first place you want to point the finger is inward and ask, “What can I do to change the situation?” Are you mentor material? Are you someone that someone else would want to give advice to? Are you someone that someone else would want to surround themselves with? Are you someone that exhibiting that you are ambitious? Are you mentor material? That is the first step. The second step is to then identify the people that you would love to be mentored by and that in itself takes time because a lot of people will select possible mentors based on awards or accolades that they’ve acquired but that’s not how you select a mentor, you select someone that shares your values and you select someone that you personally witness walks their talk, that’s really what you want to do. It’s not a long distant relationship, this isn’t someone that you’ve just observed on social media but this is someone that’s in your life somehow, somehow connected that you know that they actually walk their talk. The third part is then you add value to that person continuously over a long period of time. Paul then gave us a scenario, as he was mentor material, super ambitious, wanted to learn, the second part was that his mentor was his boss so he had a personal experience with him and was able to see how he was delivering on what he was talking about, he was walking his talk. The third part is that after he stopped working for him in about 2004, he then continued to add value to him even though he stopped working for him. He lives in Turkey and he would visit the United States of America, he would continue to help him, helped to arrange meetings, when he launched a new business in the United States and ask him to sit on the Board and help launch those programs, he wasn’t being compensated, he continued to add value to him over the years and how he found out that he was his mentor, Paul posted on Instagram about 3 years ago a story “2o Habits I Learned Working for Two Billionaires” and the second part of the article he said “And he continues to be a mentor to me to this today.” And he read that post and reposted, he was really proud of it and even had it translated into Turkish, at the end he said that he didn’t realize that Paul Brunson looked at him in that way and thanked him. In other words, at no point did he ask him, when you have a true mentoring relationship, you will just realize at a certain point that that’s your mentor and not only will you realize as your mentee but your mentor will realize that and that’s the most effective mentor relationship. Paul shared that he is a reader and he is traveling now and the books that he has with him is a oldy but a goody, “Selling the Invisible: A Field Guide to Modern Marketing” by Harry Beckwith which is one of the modern marketing books, “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller, a book he read in the last few years that changed his life, he just finished a book call “Contagious: Why Things Catch On” by Jonah Berger which is great for people focusing on their personal brand because it’s about how words spread and ideas spread especially in the day and age of social media. Another book is “Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion” by Gary Vaynerchuk that had a big impact on him. Some of the classics too that have been very helpful is “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu and his favorite is Sun Tzu and Sun Pin who was his grandson. It’s really fascinating because Paul has witnessed how over the years even in business school his teachers would reference Art of War all the time and in actuality, that book is probably one of the most influential books not just on war strategy but business strategy that was ever written. A wild card book that influence business is a book that was written about Abraham Lincoln but what’s fascinating about the study of Abraham Lincoln is that it is a very refreshing read, any of his biographies because what it does is that it illustrates how if you feel like you are too old, his story will help to sway you differently, if you don’t think you’re smart enough, his story will sway you differently, if you don’t feel like you’re connected enough, if you don’t feel like you’re in the right social class, or you came from the right family, his story will help to sway you differently, here is someone who came from meager beginnings with no connections and was one of the oldest elected president at the time he was elected and he rose to greatness and stands as one of the most influential presidents in US history and there is a lot of inspiration that can be pulled from his story. Paul stated that the app that he cannot live without in his business is Instagram as it is allowing him to connect to a degree that he was not able to connect with people before. He stated that over that last 10 days, he has received 2 speaking offers specifically from Instagram. He was able to build a rapport with certain people via Instagram and it’s one of those platforms that when it first came out he didn’t think it was going to be effective for him but it has really turned into something that’s special. He shares the he can’t live without it right now, it is one of the first apps he opens in the morning and one of the last one he closes at night. Paul stated that he is that there is so much that he is excited for but he just started a daily video blog, it doesn’t have a title, it’s a daily video blog that allows him every day to speak to his community about a subject that he believe is important to him and typically he talking about business or relationships and it’s something that he’s really excited about because he has a Primetime television show and so many people come and say “Paul, I want to be on TV, I can’t believe it, this is wonderful.” But when he pushes them and he asks why do you want to be on TV, typically he would get the response that they want to help people, he would say “if you want to help people, do it now, don’t wait/” He stated that he has fallen victim to that as he is hosting a show in the US called “Our World” and it’s a weekly show that covers news impacting African Americans so in particular around business, entertainment and Arts but it’s not on the major networks and he remembers saying, “I love doing this show, I hope it’s picked up on a larger network” and he said to himself, why doesn’t he continue doing it himself because ultimately it’s not about popularity, it’s about the influence. He reiterated that he is most excited about the daily video blog and can’t stop thinking about the different things he’s wants to do with it. Paul stated that he has committed to 100 episodes, so every day from Monday to Friday he is committed to that. He wants to show that given all the things that he is doing in his life that he can still drop a quality video blog every day and he can do it, many people should be able to do it and he also want to be able to point back and show what has resulted because of the deployment of it and even on metrics alone and not that number of followers is critical, since he has started doing frequent videos, not only has his audience increased, but more important to him is that it has become more homogenise and with it becoming more homogenise, the fastest growing demographic of his audience is Jamaican, it is the number Jamaica followers has dramatically increased and also Nigeria, they are out pacing the United States and he is planning on sharing all of that at the end of the 100 video to show what has been the result. Paul says listeners can find him on: Paul Brunson Website Paul Brunson Facebook Paul Brunson Twitter Paul Brunson Instagram Paul Brunson YouTube Paul Brunson LinkedIn Paul stated that he has a lot but one that is very simple when you see a Nike sign you think of “Just do it” he thinks of that quote whenever he has an idea and he is thinking if he should or shouldn’t, he always says “Just do it” Links “The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results” by Gary Keller “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” by Sheryl Sandberg “2o Habits I Learned Working For Two Billionaires” by Paul C. Life and setbacks go hand-in-hand. Unfulfilled dreams, aspiration that have been abandoned, hopes that have been dashed. All of us have experienced this at one time or another. I’m sure that some of us have given up altogether, when the road has seemed most difficult to climb. Persistence can be defined as, “Firm or obstinate continuance in a particular course of action in spite of difficulty or continuance.” One of my favorite quotations pertaining to persistence comes from Calvin Coolidge, the thirtieth President of the United States. He wrote, “Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” Exercising persistence has power! What is the power of persistence? How can demonstrating persistence facilitate our success? That’s what this show is about. Let’s get started!!!å
