They are here called the mammon of iniquity, because oftentimes ill gotten, ill bestowed, or an occasion of evil; and at the best are but worldly, and false; and not the true riches of a Christian.[9] "They may receive": By this we see, that the poor servants of God, whom we have relieved by our alms, may hereafter, by their intercession, bring our souls to heaven.Saint Christina of Tuscany was martyred at the age of ten, under Diocletian, A.D. 300.

At first glance, it almost sounds as if Jesus is praising dishonesty—but that's not what He is doing.The story is this:A steward is accused of wasting his master's goods.He is told he is about to lose his position.Knowing he will soon be unemployed, he reduces the debts of his master's debtors.His master commends him for acting shrewdly, not for cheating.The key is that the master praises the steward's prudence and foresight, not his dishonesty.What is Jesus teaching?Jesus immediately gives the interpretation:"The children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light."In other words, worldly people often put enormous energy into preparing for a temporary future—careers, investments, possessions. Christians should be at least as diligent in preparing for eternal life."Make friends by means of the mammon of iniquity"This is probably the most puzzling verse."Mammon" means wealth or possessions. Jesus is not saying that money is evil in itself. Rather, earthly wealth belongs to this passing world and can easily become an occasion of sin.His point is:Use your earthly possessions in such a way that they help you attain heaven.How?Give alms.Care for the poor.Support the Church.Practice generosity.Then, when earthly wealth is gone, its fruits remain.

Some chronologers are of opinion that our Saviour suffered in the thirty-seventh year of his age: but these different opinions on this subject are of no consequence.

In all other children of Adam original sin prevented the divine generosity from having a free course. But Mary was created immaculate, and therefore the grace of God streamed into her soul without check or hindrance. Her sinlessness, her heavenly purity, directed every action, every moment to God. Her Heart was the pattern and model of all virtues, of all purity! "Blessed are the pure in heart!"

This beetle pigment can be found on ingredient labels as “carmine,” “cochineal extract,” “crimson lake,” “natural red 4” or “C.I. 75470.” A quick online search reveals carmine in products from Stila, Fenty Beauty, Maybelline, M.A.C., Chanel and dozens more brands. Britton has had a team of 10 researchers working on this for around four years. Debut has invested around $10 million in the project thus far, and the new, vegan pigment will soon be available for the industry at scale. Britton has a PHD in biochemistry and organic chemistry and launched Debut six years ago. Debut is backed by L'Oréal's science-focused incubator arm Bold and was named a Time 100 2025 Most Influential Companies of the Year. The company also launched its first in-house skin-care brand, called Deinde, in 2024. Glossy awarded Britton a Glossy 50 award last year.
