Last night we watched "GOAT" and immediately looked at each other like… yeah, this one hits. In this episode, we talk about why this movie stayed with us. It is fun, fast and completely entertaining for kids, but underneath it is really about believing in your child before the world does. We get into the power of the words we say, the fear we sometimes project onto our kids and what it means to truly let them try. The film features a standout cast including Caleb McLaughlin and his Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, alongside Gabrielle Union, Aaron Pierre, Nicola Coughlan and Nick Kroll. NBA champion Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry, Dwyane Wade and WNBA stars Angel Reese and A'ja Wilson also lend their voices, bringing real star power to Will's underdog journey. From loose teeth and Tooth Fairy drama to big dreams like the Great Wall of China, this conversation turned into something deeper than we expected. "GOAT" is in theaters now and it is such a good pick for a full family movie night.

"Crime 101" is a slick and engaging thriller featuring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo. Hemsworth portrays a jewel thief who is emotionally conflicted and determined to complete one final heist. Guided by a personal code of ethics, his character refuses to harm anyone and targets only insurance companies with his schemes. The film's impressive supporting cast includes Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro and Nick Nolte who all contribute to the film's strong ensemble dynamic. Bart Layton, a British documentary filmmaker, brings surprisingly taut and effective direction, allowing "Crime 101" to remain engaging even when the plot stretches believability. “Crime 101” is an entertaining action throwback. The animated sports comedy "Goat" is from producer Steph Curry, who also lends his voice to one of the characters. The story centers on a young goat who dreams of competing in "Roarball," an intense and dangerous version of full-contact basketball. The film boasts a talented voice cast, including Caleb McGlaughlin from “Stranger Things,” David Harbour, Jennifer Hudson, Jelly Roll, and Gabrielle Union. "Goat" is a predictable, but family-friendly bit of escapism. "Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die" is a high-concept, sci-fi comedy that combines the time-loop antics of "Groundhog Day" with the energy of "Terminator." Sam Rockwell stars as a time traveler who repeatedly journeys back from the future, attempting to save humanity from the impending threat of artificial intelligence. Director Gore Verbinski seems to draw inspiration from the eccentric style of the Oscar-winning “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” The result is a smart and wildly imaginative film, even if it sometimes struggles with pacing and knowing when to wrap things up.

On this episode of The Commentary Booth, host Jamie Apps and Corrina Mabey tumble back into the world of the Toros, the Clovers, and the deeply cursed spirit stick to ask the only question that matters: Does this cheerleading classic still hold up?This iconic cheerleading movie from 2000 starring Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union has aged both brilliantly and problematically, and our hosts aren't holding back. What starts as a trip down memory lane quickly evolves into a deep dive into the film's lasting legacy, its problematic moments through a modern lens, and why it remains a defining teen movie of the 2000s.In this flashback episode, Jamie and Corrina dissect everything from the film's groundbreaking approach to cultural appropriation and LGBTQ+ representation to its cringeworthy moments that haven't aged well. They explore how this teen comedy inadvertently became a feminist statement piece while still being packed with questionable content like the sexualisation of high schoolers and outdated language.Highlights Breakdown: - Aging & Legacy: Does Bring It On hold up? A discussion on its groundbreaking themes (cultural appropriation, all-female leads) versus its many problematic elements (language, stereotypes, sexualisation). - Cast & Characters: From Kirsten Dunst's committed silliness to Gabrielle Union's star-making turn, and the bizarre phenomenon of 30-year-olds playing high schoolers. - The Problematic Stuff: Unpacking the film's use of homophobic slurs, body shaming, implied assault, and the infamous "bikini car wash." - Cheerleading Fact vs. Fiction: Why the movie's stunts are pure college-level fantasy, the real cost of Cherry Pie rights, and the hidden world of competitive cheer. - Sequels, Broadway, & Reboots: A rapid-fire tour through the Bring It On cinematic universe and its unlikely transition to a Lin-Manuel Miranda musical.Whether you're a die-hard Toros fan, a Clovers loyalist, or just love dissecting the movies of your youth, this episode is a spirited, no-holds-barred celebration and critique of a film that truly brought it.This week's episode is brought to you byAustralian Wrestling CardsCheck out more great content from Pario Magazine on our website.-------------------------------------------------------------SUPPORT PARIO MAGAZINE & THE COMMENTARY BOOTH- PATREON- BUY MERCH- AMAZON PRIME VIDEO- TUBEBUDDY- Subscribe to AEW Plus using my code (q0yydoz) to earn $10 in FITE credit- Shop Online With Honey- Shop Online With SatechiMY EQUIPMENT- Elgato Facecam- Rode PodMic- Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP- Streamlabs Talk StudioFOLLOW JAMIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram- TikTokFOLLOW PARIO MAGAZINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA- Twitter- Facebook- Instagram

The ALL NEW Big Wakeup Call with Ryan Gatenby

Send us a textA fun chat with comedian and actor ARIES SPEARS, who is performing at The Improv in Schaumburg this weekend with 7 and 9:30 shows on Friday, 3:30, 7, and 9:30 on Saturday, and 6:00 on Sunday.ARIES SPEARSBiographyEver since New York native Aries Spears was 14 years old, he has been a force to be reckoned with in the comedy scene throughout America. His quick wit, charisma and ferociously aggressive style of comedy have earned him critical acclaim, high accolades, and above all, a busy schedule. From being a regular on Fox's Mad TV, starring in feature films, appearing on a number of national talk shows, and continually touring the country where he continually sells out each and every city, Aries' talents are widespread as he just passed the 3 million spins played on Pandora and his podcast is one of the "Musts" in the US. This past summer, Aries guest starred in CNN's “See It Loud” new summer series on the history of Black Television which was one of their hit docuseries of 2023, alongside Amanda Seales, Da'Vinchi, Debbie Allen, Deon Cole, Desus & Mero, Gabrielle Union, Jimmie Walker, Judge Greg Mathis, Kevin Frazier, Loni Love, Lynn Whitfield, Mo'Nique, Naturi Naughton, Omari Hardwick, Ray J, Ruben Studdard, Sherri Shepherd, Tatyana Ali, Tiffany Pollard, Tisha Campbell, Vivica A. Fox and many more. Trailer: https://tinyurl.com/AriesCNNSeeItLoudAs a principal cast member on Fox's hit sketch comedy show Mad TV, Aries brought a fresh, hip style to the already-edgy program from the third through the tenth season. The producers made full use of many of Aries's talents by calling on him frequently to create new hilarious characters and write sketches where he thrived for eight seasons. Some of the many recurring characters that Aries is famous for on the show include: Belma Buttons, Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Mike Tyson, Walter (Crackheads), Reggie (Erascist), Dollar Bill Montgomery, Shaquille O'Neal, The Klumps, Michael Jackson, Sisqo, Evander Holyfield, El Diablo Negro and more. Aries also boasts a number of uproarious impersonations on the show that include James Brown, Al Pacino, and his childhood idol Eddie Murphy. The Aries-branded sketch “Talkin' American” was Mad TV's most popular bit, keeping fans tuned in and boosting Mad's ratings impressively on Saturday night.Aries has also found great success in the world of feature films. At the age of 17, after being spotted in a comedy club, Aries landed a part in the movie Home of Angels which eventually led to a starring role alongside John Leguizamo in TriStar's The Pest followed by the notable role as Cuba Gooding, Jr.'s brother in Columbia's blockbuster hit, Jerry Maguire.Aries maintains a strong connection to his African roots and is involved in many charitable events, including a number of organizations that help abused women. He feels blessed to have been able to achieve everything that he has, but he in no way intends on stopping there. Given the extreme growing success rate of action comedies coming out of Hollywood, it's safe to say that Aries Spears will be in demand for quite some time.   https://www.ariesspears.com

Hey friends, it's Carla—and this week's episode of So What Now was a whole mix of “wait, what?” and “absolutely not.” We kicked things off with Ayesha Howard, who recently responded to the backlash around her decision to keep her baby. And listen… her response didn't move me. At all. I said what I said, and I still feel the same way. Then we got into this Florida city trying to roll out a 4-day school week, which sounds cool until you realize... parents still work 5. So who's watching the kids on that fifth day? Make it make sense. Policies like this just make parenting even harder, and we had a lot to say about it. Of course, we couldn't resist a little detour into celebrity mess—this time it's the Beckhams. Apparently the two brothers aren't speaking because the younger one is now dating his big brother's ex. Yes, you read that right. We unpacked that drama and asked the real question: Is it ever okay to date your sibling's ex? (Spoiler: I have strong opinions) And then we got a little deeper. Gabrielle Union recently walked back her old stance on 50/50 relationships, saying it came from a place of trauma. That opened the door for us to dig into the 4 trauma response types—Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fawn. Which one are you? Are you a mix? Dex and I broke it all down and, let's just say, we learned a lot about ourselves in the process. As always, thanks for showing up, listening, and being part of this wild little podcast of ours. We're grateful for y'all every week.– Carla   CONNECT WITH US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: CARLA WILMARIS | DEX
