POPULARITY
On the last regular episdode for Season 3 we are blessed with James Wood and Michael Weston joining the conversation. Both popular and professional safety real life experience speakers both have a message you will want to hear (and your people to hear). Not one to be missed and a good way to end the season and the year. Michael will live the rest of his life with an acquired brain injury (ABI) as a result of pushing his body to the point that it couldn't go on.A career of 20 years in heavy industry saw Michael rewarded with a leadership role, he not only had to ensure production, but he was responsible for other people. A normal 10 to 12 hour workday often dragged out to 14 and 16 hours, days off were spent answering phone calls from the site or ‘Catching up' on work that just “Had” to be done.Work/Life balance became Work/Work balance with a bit of life thrown in when it didn't interfere with the job.Something had to give, and it was Michael's body. He walked out his front door not feeling quite right but knowing he had to get to work and he collapsed on his driveway and was found by his neighbor unconscious and not breathing. His head had fallen onto his chest and blocked the supply of oxygen to his brain.Michael is now affected by; short term memory loss, impaired cognitive function, limited attention span, hypersensitivity to noise and bright light among other health and well-being impacts. Michael was diagnosed with an ABI, Anxiety, Depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).James Wood offers workplaces something different. He shares the story of his workplace accident! James made some wrong Choices and ended up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life!James' Safety Presentation has a long lasting and significant impact on the Choices you make.James will share his message of ‘choice', which he hopes will help other people to avoid the same mistakes he has made. James Wood made the wrong safety decision once and now he has to live with it for the rest of his life. As James puts it, ‘It was supposed to be a normal day, I got up, I went to work and went home 9 months later'.Links from todays show. When you're a vampire with a soul, you learn to live with the idea of people wanting you dead. ... Work long enough and the line to kill you gets pretty long." That's right, Scoobies—Angel the vampire DOES have a lot in common with burned spy Michael Westen. (Not to be confused with actor Michael Weston, real-life son of our dearly departed Linwood Murrow.) But this episode is not so much about the titular vampire; it's about Lorne! (Cue "Viva Lorne Vegas.") Since starting work at Wolfram & Hart, Lorne's been under a lot of stress, folks. Yes, most of that stress was left on the cutting room floor, but now, there's a whole episode about it. So crack open a can of blue blood boy and join your hosts LaToya Ferguson and Morgan Lutich (AKA Captain Forehead and AK William Bloody, AKA the Gunn Squad, and so much more) this week as they discuss the Angel Season 5 episode "Life of the Party," an episode in which Angel finally remembers to be a good friend (and how to do his hair), everyone is reminded what a bop Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way Is," and office party hijinks ensue. (Apologies for not mentioning David Krumholtz as Lorne's assistant in the episode. “You have to have this resilience of knowing who you are.” You may recognize this week's guest as one of the most influential character actors of the last twenty five years. Michael Weston grew up in an industry family but set his sights on sports rather than the arts at a young age. This would change once he attended Northwestern and dove headfirst into the theater program. Since then, he's lived all over the world and built a prolific career on both the stage and screen. His most notable projects include: Garden State, Home Before Dark, Pathology, House, and The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best! SHOUTOUTS & PROMOTIONS -Bark (Coming Soon)
The Rerun Summer continues with the pilot of 2007's beloved long-running spy action series "Burn Notice," starring Jeffrey Donovan. Michael Weston used to be a spy until his agency "burns" him, exiling him to Miami without money or resources. Many plots ensue and many characters are welcomed. #11: ‘You look like you're playing business.' I wasn't offended by his comment because once I saw what he did, I couldn't unsee it. I was trying to prove I had serious work to offer the world versus just being here to do serious work. As a result, I was watering down my impact. Because as counter-intuitive as it sounds, if you want to be of the most service, you have to risk Just Being seen as Selfish first. Thanks for listening to Just Being! #10: I was a rule-follower. People pleaser. Committed to the ‘good girl complex' and what I thought it meant to be a ‘good' person. My guest this week had his own upbringing with rules he was expected to follow… until he found those very rules threatening his life. In this week's episode of Just Being Seen, Michael Weston and I are constructively challenging the rules around what it means to be “good”, be successful, and make money or create impact… and talking about how to create your own rules that align with you who are now and where you want to go.Thanks for listening to Just Being! Michael Weston and Co. are burned in Miami and on the run as vigilante fugitives who help other ex-cons and civilians in jeopardy on Burn Notice. Why is Jon a super-fan of this USA Network cable show? Where does it rank on Bruce Campbell's resume of witty roles? Does it handle its escapism rather well or does it hit a few dents in the road? Is it all rather family friendly for the most part? And is it rather campy like The A-Team or just more-the-top in general? All that and why we're unfortunately not getting a follow-up film reunion! #burnnotice #usanetwork #cable #channels #gabrielleanwar #michaelweston #jeffreydonovan #brucecampbell #badass #cool #fun #campy #Miami #fugitives #vigilantes #awesome #explosions #espionage #spies #spy #fixers #bodyguards #adventure #crime #action #ateam #Miami #Florida #CSI #television #shows #funny #lazy #easygoing #entertainment

Chu, the series follows a young girl named Hilde (played by Brooklynn Prince) who moves from the city of Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind. When she’s not acting, Brooklynn has a heart for helping others, and volunteers with Florida’s Community Hope Center to help end homelessness. She’s also an ambassador for Kidbox, and is working to help clothe a million children in need.
Real life Michael WestOn meets Michael WestEn in this week's episode, and while there's good jokes and a lot of potential, there's also a lotta problematic mental illness mocking. It's not immediately clear if they're being problematic against autistic people or against schizophrenics or both, but what is clear is that he shouldn't have been characterized that way! Bummer. A real bummer. Love us in a non-creepy way? Love us in a creepy way? Send us an email at BurnNoticedPodcast@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter @BurnNoticedPod

Mental health is a topic that features heavily in the news these days. In this podcast we interview Michael Weston, an advocate & keynote speaker around mental health providing both the public and workplaces with an insight into his personal life experience, whilst highlighting the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Michael worked in the Western Australian mining industry for twenty years, when one day back in 2013 (ready for work), he was found by his neighbour, unconscious and not breathing. Whilst Michael survived, he spent the next two years searching for a diagnosis and answers to why he couldn't function as well as he had prior to the incident. As doctors and specialists began investigating further, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and an acquired brain injury (ABI) were diagnosed. The conclusion they came to was that work and a stressful work environment had contributed to his collapse, and so this episode may resonate with many of those who might be suffering similar conditions in the workplace. KEY TAKEAWAYS Michael spent many years working in the mining industry in Australia, in some of the most high-pressured and diverse sectors. But although the stress was high, Michael loved the job. One of the first signs that Michael was not doing well, was the change in his personality. His wife noticed to begin with, and commented that he wasn’t acting like himself. Soon afterwards, Michael was found collapsed, face-down on his driveway. The problem is that many people don’t receive physical warning signs when a collapse is imminent. Lack of concentration, and mindfulness, is often put down to simple fatigue, instead of being treated as a major warning beacon. Ultimately, Michael’s body refused to cooperate with his mind and shut itself down. Michael’s state of mind was seriously deteriorating, and had taken far too much on in the workplace. Anxiety and depression manifest early, and should always be discussed. Treatment should be sought as soon as possible, in order to prevent collapse and subsequent health issues. The first place to admit you’re feeling overwhelmed is at work. Tell your workplace that you are feeling consumed, and be honest. Finding a work life balance is as essential to lasting happiness as an efficient and healthy workplace. Allowing flexibility, and listening to our staff when they are troubled will save many issues down the line. .BEST MOMENTS ’There was a bit of gold at the end of the tunnel’ ‘Red isn’t always bad’ ‘I need to get to work. The Lilac Time special with Stephen Duffy in conversation The Lilac Time is a British alternative folk-rock band that was originally formed in Herefordshire, England by Stephen Duffy, his brother Nick Duffy and their friend Michael Weston in 1986. The band's name was taken from a line in the Nick Drake song "River Man". Since its formation, The Lilac Time has gone through various line-up changes, with the Duffy brothers as mainstays. The band's activity has intertwined with Stephen Duffy's solo and songwriting career. The Duffy brothers and Michael Weston had recorded music that would become the band's self-titled debut, which was first released on Swordfish Records in 1987. Michael Giri and Fraser Kent joined when the band went on tour. The group signed to Fontana, which reissued the band's first album in remixed form in 1988. The group went on to release the albums Paradise Circus in 1989, and & Love For All in 1990, the latter of which was produced by Andy Partridge and John Leckie. The Lilac Time was dropped by Fontana then briefly signed to Creation Records, where the band was subsequently managed by label head Alan McGee. The band's sole release on Creation was Astronauts, in 1990. The Duffy brothers' cousin, noted-session musician Cara Tivey, contributed organ and piano to the album. The band later regrouped with Claire Worrall and Melvin Duffy (no relation to the brothers) and recorded Looking For A Day In The Night with producer Stephen Street for spinART Records in 1999. They then released Lilac 6 on Cooking Vinyl in 2001, followed by Keep Going, which was released in 2003 under the name "Stephen Duffy and the Lilac Time" on Folk Modern. Runout Groove was released on 22 October 2007 on Bogus Frontage. The band played the 2007 Green Man Festival and the Queen Elizabeth Hall as a six-piece. The band's gig at the Green Man Festival serves as the backdrop to the film "Memory & Desire — 30 Years in the Wilderness With Stephen Duffy & The Lilac Time." The documentary was filmed over six years by Douglas Arrowsmith, who included new and vintage Lilac footage. The film is accompanied by a Universal Records album of the same name, which compiles songs from Duffy's thirty years of music making. The Queen Elizabeth Hall concert is to be released as a live recording. No Sad Songs was released on Tapete Records in April 2015. A new Lilac Time album, Return to Us is planned for release in late 2017.

Sometimes life sweeps us up. We're too busy thinking about work responsibilities, or other duties, and we forget to appreciate the simple things in life. It's a common story. But for Michael Weston, who had a 20-year career in mining, this form of living nearly killed him. On the latest episode of Full Production, Michael and I had the chance to chat about his stress-induced incident that left him unconscious and not breathing on the front of his driveway. It's a harrowing story, but one that has an important message behind it. You can't afford to miss this one. We also chat about: The physical and mental symptoms Michael had prior to his accident Why miners need to be having regular conversations with their families How Michael found purpose after his accident The importance of reaching out for help when things get tough The warning signs that can present themselves when you're too stressed Why you should always listen to your gut How some cultural traits in the mining community can keep us from seeking the help we need How to find good mental health care in Australia Links: Michael Weston - Website Michael Weston - LinkedIn Michael Weston - YouTube Michael Weston - Facebook

The Brooklyn Brothers Beat The Best stars Ryan O'Nan and Michael Weston join host Robin Milling to talk about their buddy music film. The two actors tell Robin they became fast friends after meeting on an audition just three months before shooting began. Ryan wrote and directed the film as well as penned several of the soundtrack tunes, now available on CD from Rhino Records. Their first single Come On Girl is featured at the end of the show. Both actors brought their musical talents to the film; Ryan is a guitarist/vocalist for indie outfits such as Against The Wall, while Weston is an accomplished keyboardist but his character's instruments came from his childhood toybox. The story of a musician who wants to graduate from playing for mentally challenged audiences in a fuzzy moose suit is a frustration Ryan and Michael can relate to as they tell Robin about their nightmare gigs.
