Jonny and Richard are in front of an audience at the Haynes Motor Museum, raising money for Mission Motorsport by talking their usual nonsense, specifically about doing the walk of shame in crocs, finding the home of the Celica Lady, incredibly strong over-the-counter American drugs, being a self-conscious driver, Tiff's new car, tucking the airbags back in, Audi Procon Ten, breaking news in the world of screenwash, a fancy dress confusion at Jay Kay's house, juddery clutch conundrums, ugly steering wheels, and running-in an air fryer. Last weeks an episode didn't come out, because Christmas and new years messed up planning for recording. Fortunately ahead of the Sunday Scramble I was able to sit down with Paul Wooding at Hagerty's Clubhouse. Paul is the man we have to thank for the Cloudera GT86's which I created a special edition t-shirt for, along with the replica Goodwood Scalextric track. It's all a bit of a small world isn't it! Paul shares his story of how his life in the military enabled him to step into civilian life with some well learned lessons and skills, and we go through how he's gotten so involved with Mission Motorsport. There's also a brief cameo from James Cameron (again, becoming a thing isn't it) Get bonus Takona content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week on the Driven Chat Podcast, John Marcar sits down with his old friend James 'Jim' Cameron to talk about Mission Motorsport, the company he founded ten years ago whilst serving in the British Army as a commander of the Tank Regiment. James assembled a small team of like-minded individuals and took it upon himself to ensure that members of his own regiment had a 'next step' following their career in the armed forces and transitioning into civilian life and what ended up forming was a powerhouse of a charity and a community we all now know as mission Motorsport. In this conversation, James talks about the early days of the charity, how it was formed, and crucially how it's still evolving. To learn more about Mission Motorsport, please visit www.MissionMotorsport.org and follow @MissionMotorspt on social media and if you see someone wearing a mission motorsport t-shirt, be sure to go and say hello!Find the episode in all the usual podcast places and see the entire back catalogue at DrivenChat.com/PodcastsGet in touch with the show via email - podcast@drivenchat.com or slip into our DM's on your preferred social feed, and don't forget to check out our youtube channel via YouTube.com/DrivenChat, so see some premium visual car content. The Driven Chat podcast is brought to you by Paramex Digital - for more information on Driven Chat, visit www.drivenchat.com. Welcome to episode 35 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Paul Woodman is at the airport this week, so slightly quieter than usual, but he's joined by Tiff Needell as always for the weekly motorsport roundup! We've had four major events form this weekend, including the Formula 1 in Brazil, Moto GP in Spain, IMSA in America and the Race of Remembrance in Anglesey, that Paul was a part of. Let's kick off with the epic race at Interlagos in Brazil! Another controversy between Red Bull and Mercedes, which started with Max Verstappen inspecting the wing of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. The wing was 0.2cm too big, resulting in Hamilton being able to go much faster than Verstappen's Red Bull. This led to not only a penalty for Hamilton, but also a fine for Verstappen for touching his car in the pits! When we got to the race, there was a further controversy, with Verstappen pushing Hamilton wide, resulting in both drivers leaving the track when Hamilton attempted overtaking Verstappen for first place. The stewards declared it a racing incident, but did Verstappen did this on purpose? What do you think? Paul's opinion in it is clear, despite having to be relatively quiet in his airport lounge! After taking a 25 grid place penalty over the weekend, Hamilton still managed to win the race, with Verstappen behind him, and Bottas in 3rd. Sergio Perez took the fastest lap in his Red Bull car. Onto Qatar for the next race! The last round of Moto GP took place in Valencia last weekend, too. With Moto 3 being the most exciting race, with Champion Pedro Costa taking his first pole position of the season, ironically at his home Grand Prix! He unfortunately got taken out of the race, leaving another Spanish rider, Xavier Artigas to win the race. In the main Moto GP race, Francesco Bagnaia took his fourth Win in a row on his Ducati! But of course, there were tears everywhere for the last race for Valentino Rossi, following a spectacular career for the rider. In America, the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta hosted the IMSA at the Petit Le Mans, with a last lap lunge for #55, taking the victory. The Championship Winners however were the #31 Cadillac. As previously stated, Paul was racing at Anglesey Circuit in Wales at the weekend, raising money for Mission Motorsport, who assist in rehabilitating those from the armed services by providing opportunities in motorsport and the automotive industry. Paul was racing in a team driving a Caterham 270 race car. The team finished a respectable 4th place, narrowly missing a podium. Next weekend, we have the Formula 1 in Qatar to look forward to, who do we predict to win? World Rally Championship goes into it's final round at Monza and the British Rally Championship at Ulster!
On this week's podcast we join the JEC Oxfordshire Region for their Veterans Day at Bicester Heritage. In this episode, roaring fires are lit and sherry glasses filled as Chris and Martin take an end of term look at films containing their favourite movie cars - Back to the Future and Ferris Bueller's Day Off - and give their top five lists of 2019's best online videos. But first, Ford vs Ferrari (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1950186/) is in the news again with Christian Bale's Golden Globes nomination for best actor, and Simon Brew talks Ford vs Ferrari in the brilliant Film Stories podcast (https://www.filmstories.co.uk/podcast/podcast-scrooged-1988-and-le-mans-66-2019/).. As this is a time for giving, we have no hesitation in asking our great listeners that, if you can spare a few pounds this Christmas, to consider donating to the great organisation Mission Motorsport (https://www.missionmotorsport.org). They are the Forces' motorsport charity, and we've both seen first-hand the amazing work they do to help service veterans recover from mental and physical injury and help them into work. They make a huge difference to the people who need it most, so please consider giving. As an end of term treat, we decided to look at cars we love in films that are otherwise not car films. Chris chose the DeLorean from Back to the Future (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088763/), and would highly recommend Alex Goy's great Carfection documentary DeLorean: The Man, The Car, The People (DeLorean: The Man, The Car, The People). Martin meanwhile went with the Ferrari 250 GT California from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091042/). For the top five online releases of the year, Martin went with: * James May’s Unpimp My Ride - Ferrari 308 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUQZ5msy0YQ) * This crazy trick could get you out of any speeding ticket (Alex Roy on VINWiki) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXJY06QYGjo) * MotorTrend Head2Head - Ferrari 812 Superfast vs. Dodge Hellcat Redeye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn3AnPYm_Zg) * Tavarish driving his restored Fast & Furious Murcielago (all the feels) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoD6aC-hiLY) * There's no number five, as Chris had already pinched it. Chris's top five online releases of the year list is: * F1 Paddock Pass (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd0HuQs_KRQ&list=PLfoNZDHitwjXYZSg3NfDuM4L0jyxL8v5l) * Red Bull Racing's zero G pit stop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQXGbep6S2c) (with special bonus Will Buxton Haas puns (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou-5xSMsd6o)) * McLaren Senna: A Tribute To Ayrton's Greatest Lap (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPgS8lOTnz0) * Everything Wrong With Gone In 60 Seconds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o96XlXNREXE) * Inside Chris Harris’ Dream Garage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiLImHQbjis) If you want to tell us if we’re right, wrong or to share something we should be looking at, get in touch via the following channels: Twitter: @AutomoviePod (https://twitter.com/automoviepod) Facebook: AutomoviePodcast (https://fb.me/AutomoviePodcast) Email: comments@automoviepodcast.com (mailto:comments@automoviepodcast.com)
