As a fan of Silent Hill 2 (episode 10 of Tales from the Backlog, by the way), I figured at some point I would need to go back and play the original. Silent Hill (Team Silent, Konami, 1999) was really interesting to go back and play, for a couple of reasons, most notably that I thought I knew what the game and town's whole deal was, but that was apparently not the case in the first game. The other surprise was that I found this pretty breezy from a mechanical perspective, which was welcome after really struggling through Resident Evil 1. It was an interesting trip back through history, and led to a great conversation! for the full episode join the Patreon [patreon.com/fashiongrunge]Good lord I can't believe I watched this movie. Usually I'm extremely adverse to topics surrounding possession, the devil, and ghosts. Because this is seen as one of the classic horror films, I had to review it for the pod during spooky season. Now, some of you may be shocked but I didn't like this as much as everyone else does. Thankfully this makes for an interesting episode and by the end I started to come around a bit. This is one of Jai's faves so it's great to have both ends of the spectrum when it comes to this review. Also, this is a FASHION movie. I couldn't write down the outfits that I loved fast enough. There are numerous looks that comprise the 60s aesthetic to a tee. The cinematography, locations, and the MANY behind the scenes deets we found were our standouts.*first on Patreon October 30, 2023---Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the Patreon! Katie founded the “We Are Young” (WAY) Organization as a way of highlighting and celebrating our senior population through funding experiential “wishes”. Her recognition of these special souls has resulted in almost 50 fulfilled dreams for local “young-guns”. Her newlywed hub's founded Purple Cow Internet, Was Season 1's Winner of Canada's Ultimate Challenge and is currently training for the next winter Olympics. The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to create a specific hairstyle and color for a birthday party, but she claims the defendant poked her with needles and even burned her scalp. She's suing to get her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff told her at the time she was happy with the weave but then bashed her on social media. Then, the plaintiff says he brought his boat to the defendants' marine shop to fix a broken motor, but he had to wait all summer. He's suing for a refund and additional costs for repairs. The defendants claim the plaintiff was impatient and tried to steal his boat from the shop without paying. Plus, the plaintiff says he used to live with the defendant and loaned him money for rent and utilities when he had cash flow problems. Now his ex-roommate won't pay him back, so he's suing for the outstanding loans and rent. The defendant insists he doesn't owe the plaintiff any money. Soren brilliantly explains that love is not a blind and fanciful but fleeting feeling. It is sober-minded and sees sin clearly. Yet, love also forgives and extends grace. A paradox for sure which is the genius of Kierkegaard at his best in interpreting and applying Scriptural truth.

The things that you see in your future, your family, your lifestyle, those pale in comparison to what God has in store for you...In today's message find out how you can get on one accord with God and achieve everything you imagine. 5:46 - “Nobody has to agree with your ideas. Trust the process and God's perfect timing.” God will always deliver on his promises. Don't become distracted with someone's negative thoughts or opinions. 12:26 - James 1:3 states, “because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Use God's test to build your trust in him! The pruning process can bring forth revelation, clarity & strength to continue walking with God. 18:57 - Pray for the relationship with God to continue after receiving his blessings. Remember your pruning process in order to sustain your faith & trust in God. Takeaways ⁃ Time is what God is using to purify you. Be aware of how God is trying to communicate with you. Don't become discouraged during the “delay” period. ⁃ Trust God's perfect timing! Questions 1. Do you desire to have the heart and mind of God? 2. Are you being specific with God in your prayers? If 80% of the population stop chasing goal and dreams by February each year… there has to be another 5-10% that don't even set goals, resolution, or aspirations. Roughly 5-10 % of people are even giving themselves a chance to accomplish their goals… And that's not only bc they don't have the skill set; but they don't have the will power to discipline themselves or create a level of consistency that will allow them to put distractions to the side and focus on priorities that get them closer to their goals.

Psalm 62:1-7 1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. 3 So many enemies against one man— all of them trying to kill me. To them I'm just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence. 4 They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. Interlude 5 Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. 7 My victory and honor come from God alone.
In this episode your intrepid hosts recap listener feedback say WHAAAAT! While basking in the glow of our dear listeners – proving both their existence AND interest in our musings – we:do a combined shout out to Laura Hamilton O'Hara at Living Future Institute of Australia for letting us know their Declare Material transparency label has recently expanded to include embodied carbon, as well as the team at NABERS and GBCA who are leading some important work for governments on embodied carbon in the buildings sectorcelebrate IRENA finally releasing Part I of their Hydrogen paper series (Trade outlook for 2050 and way forward). We remain mystified by the rationale for releasing Part I after Parts II and III, but absolutely claim credit for the release of Part I within 24 hrs of our hydrogen carriers episode going live!and while we're on claiming credit for things, in perhaps our last Gas Substitution Roadmap Corner for a bit, we can only assume our keen interest in this paper's whereabouts drove the Victorian Government's decision to release their roadmap ahead of the state election in November. While there are whispers of a major update next year, for now we will pore over the current version.Want your hot take featured in the next round of follow up? You're in luck! Send your comments, questions (and reports you think we should cover on the show) to mailbag@letmesumup.net and we'll see what we can do.With all family business settled, we turn our attention to our whizz bang report for this week….. AEMO's 2022 Integrated System Plan (ISP)! So much to unpack. Guess you'll have to listen to find out what we think ;-)Tennant's One More Thing (apart from a plea to Katharine Murphy and David Speers to plug the pod) is trilogues! Taking place in the EU (Council, Commission, Parliament) to resolve how to implement their ambitious Fit for 55 legislation, including expanding ETS (will it include transport and heating of buildings?) and Tennant's favourite topic, the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and whether hydrogen will be in or out. Complex? Yes. Fascinating? For sure!Frankie's One More Thing is the hotly anticipated legislation that will give effect to the Federal Government's target to reduce emissions by 43% on 2005 levels by 2030. Will the Greens vote in support? Will Labor build a floor not a ceiling? Will the future of coal and gas projects feature in the debate? See two longform interviews with Adam Bandt here and here for some insights and stay tuned!Luke's One More Thing (apart from usurping Frankie's with the Victorian Opposition's gauntlet throw down to legislate a net zero by 2050 target for Victoria if elected) is a bit of shameless self promotion for his other work-related pod, First Fuel. For any listeners interested in Luke and Frankie's German adventures on a recent energy efficiency delegation, you can hear Part I of the wrap on the delegation from Luke, Frankie and ‘rando ring-in' Carlos Flores, Director of NABERS right here. (We love Carlos, a dear friend of the pod).See you next time! Please keep tweeting your thoughts and suggestions for new papers to us at @LukeMenzel, @TennantReed and @FrankieMuskovic. On our next episode we will be chatting about the other blockbuster government report on gas in Victoria, Infrastructure Victoria's Towards 2050: Gas infrastructure in a net-zero emissions economy. Didn't see that coming, did you? Blame this bloke.
In today's episode, I'm joined by two of my best friends Ash and Micha for some reflections on what's been on our minds recently. On this episode of Attack the Backlog, Marc spins, twirls, and stumbles their way through the skies and waters of Nights into Dreams, a game that's more nightmarish than dreamy with only a fantastic soundtrack making up for what is otherwise a terrible game. Anyway, something-something, feels like a good night for a curse, but I guess things could be worse, cheers and enjoy the...wait for it...show. Anyway, that's it and that's all folks. You can get an even more in-depth discussion by listening to the podcast and, if you're feeling extra generous, you can become a patron, donate a little something, or subscribe to show your support for the site, the podcasts, the streaming, the videos, the art, and everything in between. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to consume any of the content I make and thank you for being a fan. I can't begin to express how much I appreciate each and every one of you. Cheers.

Caitlin and Mary talk about one of their all-time favorite movies: Rosemary's Baby. That's right, folks, we're introducing a second trope to the line-up: monstrous motherhood! We talk about the ways motherhood can seem monstrous - horrific pregnancies, demonic births, raising a monster, and moms committing the unspeakable. Don't fret - there are plenty more period movies on the docket, but we had a lot of fun adding this trope to the mix. We both love Rosemary's Baby, and we give it all our love. The anthropologist I mentioned at the end was Barbara Ehrenreich, if you'd like to look her up. The book I cited at the beginning was The Monster Within: The Hidden Side of Motherhood, by Dr. Barbara Almond. Two great Barbaras.

After a five month hiatus, we’re back in an episode dominated by psychological thrillers of varying flavors. This week’s line-up: Eyes Wide Shut, Family Plot, The Fan, and Fargo.
This week, Andy is joined by Jack Shirley, owner and engineer at Atomic Garden Studios in Oakland, CA. He has engineered, produced and mastered records for a dynamic group of artists, everyone from Jeff Rosenstock to Deafheaven to Western Addiction and all sorts of bands in-between. Also a musician himself, Jack cut his teeth in the post-hardcore band Comadre, who released 4 albums in their tenure and toured all over the U.S. and Japan. Most recently, he has been performing with the bands Everybody Row and Dangers. As a producer and engineer, Jack Shirley tends to take a more hands off approach, not unlike another well known engineer/producer - Steve Albini. He tends to let the music come together more organically rather than spending a ton of time on production just for the sake of production, though he'll certainly offer his opinion when asked for it. There have been several albums that he has worked on that have landed on a grip of 'Best Of' lists such as Deafheaven's Sunbather & New Bermuda, as well as Jeff Rosenstock's No Dream & POST-. Along with well over 50 albums on his resume, he has certainly earned his spot as a highly sought after producer within the punk, hardcore and metal scenes. Happy 2021! First new one of the year and we're looking back at my ten favorite records released in 2020. I go through my list of everyone from The Strokes to Violent Soho to X and more. Oh man, this album here.....AOTY. Hands down. I called it back in May when it dropped and I stand firm by it. This is an incredible album, crafted in a way only Jeff Rosenstock could do it. It's absolutely perfect and I can't wait to discuss it for you all!
