We delve into how pharmaceutical companies are run, in terms of incentives for doctors to prescribe medicines, marketing, medical training and journals and research. After Patrick criticised major profitable drugs, he was burgled, followed and photographed and was also the victim of attempted character assassination. He details how this all happened, and what's did that rocked the pharmaceutical boat as such.Patrick has long studied the effects of using high dose Vitamin C to treat a variety of conditions and viruses. This isn't just in relation to Covid but started back in the 80's during the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We discuss his research of vitamin C to help increase T-cell counts which in other words, stops HIV from turning into AIDS. He wasn't abandoned in real life, but the experience was locked up inside him until another coach unlocked it in himself leading to him breaking down in tears for 10 minutes. Releasing the energy of that locked away emotion. He's a Software and Analytical Guy Dean is a software guy by initial trade. That means hitting the guy first and hitting hard so you can escape. This training made Dean more aware of his own coaching. Having an awareness of your surroundings and inner game. For Dean, martial arts is about courtesy, courage, discipline, perseverance, and self respect. How Did Dean Get into Nutrition? Dean and his wife tried to have children. Twice going through IVF. While completing his bachelor degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of York, he spent time researching the role of nutrition in mental health and illness. Patrick became a student of the late Dr. Carl Pfeiffer, director of Princeton’s Brain Bio Center, and later a student of Dr. Abram Hoffer, Director of the International Schizophrenia Foundation in Canada, who was leading the field in mental health and nutrition. In 1980 Patrick started treating mental health patients with nutritional medicine. In 1984 he founded the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), a charitable and independent educational trust for the furtherance of education and research in nutrition. Today, ION is the largest training school in the UK offering a diploma course in nutritional therapy. During his time as director of ION, Patrick ran many educational campaigns that brought attention to the importance of zinc and pyrolluyria, disglycaemia, antioxidants, methylation and homocysteine, IgG food allergies, essential fats in mental health – factors still greatly underestimated in the treatment of mental illness. Patrick retired as Director of ION in 1997 to focus on writing, teaching, and researching. In 2003 Patrick founded the Brain Bio Centre at ION, a treatment centre pioneering the optimum nutrition approach for mental health, to formalise the treatment of mental health with nutrition and to act as a research centre. The Brain Bio centre is owned by the Food for the Brain Foundation, a registered education charity he set up, to promote awareness of the link between learning, behaviour, mental health, and nutrition. In 2007, Patrick was appointed Patron of South African Association for Nutritional Therapy, and Patron of IANT (Irish Association of Nutritional Therapy) in 2009. Muscle cells can burn fats but the brain and neurones can’t, so we need both. When your body undergoes ketogenesis, it undergoes a cellular repair process which cleans up the mitochondria. Our diet right now is a high seafood diet containing selenium, b12, omega-3, etc. For people experiencing dementia, they may have degenerating cells because they’ve been eating a lot of carbs and sugar. Suddenly he became aware of short term memory concerns. He worried that it was early onset dementia. He didn't know what was going on.
