We are all engaged in a spiritual conflict, whether we want to be or not. As God's people, we are called to be strong in Christ and to stand firm under the onslaught. How can we do that? Sermon Outline:I. Stand Firm by Putting On the Armor.II. Stand Firm by Taking Up the Sword and Shield.III. Stand Firm by Bowing Down in Prayer.Sermon Discussion Questions:1. Reflect on Paul's imagery of the armor. How do you personally “put on” the armor of God each day? Are there any areas in your life where you feel unprepared or vulnerable? 2. In a world full of lies and half-truths, how can you better align yourself with God's truth? 3. What are some of the “fiery darts” (doubts, temptations, fears) that Satan launches at you in your spiritual walk? How can you raise the shield of faith to protect yourself from these attacks, and what promises from Scripture can help strengthen your faith in these moments?4. How can you better equip yourself with the Word of God to fight against the enemy's lies and temptations? How has the Bible been a tool for you in spiritual warfare, and how can you make it a more central part of your daily life?5. Why is prayer so essential in spiritual warfare? How can we be more intentional in praying for others, especially fellow believers, and for those who preach and teach the Word? What are some practical steps you can take to make prayer a consistent part of your daily walk with God?

It's how we begin our life in Christ, but it's also part of our daily progression in sanctification. Obviously, it begins with us recognizing and admitting that we're sinners in need of a Savior, but also the recognition that our sinning is not eradicated at the moment of salvation. As believers, we go on sinning and must deal with our sin by confessing it to our Heavenly Father daily. But how much of the Christian life should involve confessing our sins to others and being held accountable by them or to them? Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion." James 5:16 tells us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another so that we may be healed. So, we can see that the Scriptures teach us that confession and accountability are pretty important. But does this mean we need accountability partners or groups that hold each other accountable for dealing with our sins and growing in our sanctification? Join us this week on the Straight Truth Podcast to hear the answers to these questions as Dr. Richard Caldwell and Dr. Josh Philpot discuss the subject of confession and accountability before God and others.Dr. Caldwell says that at the very outset of our walk with Christ, we're turning from a life of sin to embrace a new life in Jesus Christ. Our faith in Christ is a penitent faith. It has practical effects even at the beginning of our Christian lives, where we are turning away from a life of sin, putting away our sins. But, there are also things we are turning from. Dr. Caldwell shares an example from Acts 18, where those who believed kept coming forward and confessing and disclosing their previous practices, some bringing things with them that needed to be removed and destroyed from their lives. These people publicly displayed the abandonment of their past lives with transparency and humility through their words and actions. Why? Because the Lord had changed their hearts, they desired a new life in Christ and were putting away their sin. James tells us that we are to confess our sins to each other and pray for each other. Our proper understanding of these texts will help us to see the ongoing nature and importance of confessing...

Title: Living Transformed Lives: Unveiling the Meaning of Colossians 3Introduction: The Epistle of Paul to the Colossians offers profound insights into the transformative power of the gospel and the implications it has for believers' lives. Colossians 3 stands as a pivotal chapter that invites believers to embrace a new way of living in light of their identity in Christ. It provides practical guidance on how to align one's thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors with the truth of the gospel. Let us explore the rich meaning within Colossians 3 and uncover its timeless relevance for believers today. - A Call to Seek Heavenly Things: Colossians 3:1-4 sets the tone for the chapter, emphasizing the need for believers to set their minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. This call challenges believers to shift their focus from earthly concerns and temporary pleasures to eternal, heavenly realities. It highlights the importance of pursuing a Christ-centered mindset, which shapes our perspectives, desires, and priorities. - Putting Off the Old Self: Verses 5-9 emphasize the need to put off the old self, characterized by sinful behaviors and attitudes. Believers are called to renounce practices such as sexual immorality, impurity, lust, greed, anger, and slander. This transformative process involves actively shedding the patterns of behavior that are contrary to God's design and embracing a new identity in Christ. - Putting On the New Self: Colossians 3:10-17 reveals the beautiful picture of putting on the new self, created in the image of God. This new self is characterized by qualities such as compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and love. Believers are encouraged to clothe themselves with these virtues, allowing them to permeate their thoughts, words, and actions. It is through the indwelling presence of Christ that believers are empowered to manifest these qualities. - Cultivating Unity and Gratitude: Colossians 3:12-15 emphasizes the importance of unity and gratitude within the community of believers. Paul encourages believers to bear with one another, forgive one another, and above all, to put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. This exhortation underscores the significance of cultivating relationships characterized by love, unity, and mutual support. Gratitude is also highlighted as an essential attitude that permeates our hearts, leading to worship and thankfulness toward God. - The Word of Christ Dwelling Richly: In verses 16-17, Paul urges believers to let the word of Christ dwell in them richly. This entails filling our minds and hearts with the truth of God's Word, allowing it to guide and transform our lives. The Word serves as a source of wisdom, correction, and encouragement, enabling believers to worship God and live in alignment with His purposes. Conclusion: Colossians 3 presents a profound call to believers to live transformed lives, rooted in the reality of their identity in Christ. It challenges us to shift our focus from earthly concerns to heavenly realities, putting off the old self and embracing the new self in Christ. Through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, believers are empowered to exhibit Christlike virtues, cultivate unity, practice gratitude, and let the Word of God dwell richly within them. Let Colossians 3 serve as a guiding light, inspiring believers to live in full accordance with the transformative power of the gospel, impacting both their personal lives and their relationships within the body of Christ. My closest cousin EATS LIKE A PIG but is still as SKINNY AS A BEANPOLE. I'm happy for her. I really am. But what really frustrates me the most is that I look like a pig when I EAT LIKE BIRD. My situation is getting worse and I feel like things are GOING DOWNHILL for me since I keep PUTTING ON a few pounds every month. It is unfair. If you ask me about the one thing I would die to know it would be how some people get to enjoy any meal, whether healthy or not, and still be FIT AS A FIDDLE. I want to be like those people. One day I want to feel that I can have both: a great body that looks good in anything and enjoys food all day long and EAT UP everything and anything I want. If this wish comes true I guess I would be the happiest person on earth. Like marriage, salvation is a covenant, and there is an exchange, a difference that must take place in the life of a follower of Jesus. We have to stop living the way we used to live and start living the way Jesus lived. We have to throw off our old nature and put on our new nature in Christ. You should be able to tell by watching someone whether they are a follower of Jesus because followers of Christ should have different actions, attitudes and motives, but it’s important to remember that we can’t change on our own. We can only stop doing the things of the old nature and start doing the things of the new nature by embracing “I can’t” and putting on Christ.

Wodehouse"As of 2007, he has written three novels:Blue Heaven (1988),Putting On the Ritz (1991), andMy Lucky Star (2006).Putting on the Ritz won the Lambda Literary Award for Humor in 1991, and My Lucky Star won the Lambda Literary Award for Humor in 2006. In October 2007, the novel also won the Thurber Prize for American Humor.Putting On The RitzJoe KeenanFollowing the hilarious debacle of Blue Heaven, librettist Philip Cavanaugh has again allowed himself to be drawn into a fiendish money-making plan by his friend and ex-lover Gilbert Selwyn.Gilbert has fallen in with Tommy Parker, a veritable Adonis and a magazine editor employed by media magnate Boyd Larkin. Philip's brief is to spy on Larkin's greatest adversary Peter Champion. To this end Philip enters the Champion entourage - a clan so poisonous they make the Borgias look Amish - with his songwriting partner Claire. Together they are to turn Champion's talentless wife Ilsa (a woman so rich she 'ovulates Fabergé eggs') into a chanteuse. As Philip and Gilbert out-spy each other in vying for Tommy's admiration, plot follows counter-plot in a novel whose comic complications, devastating repartee and cast of high-hat lowlifes is nothing short of dazzling and unforgettable.https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/1035136/putting-on-the-ritz/9781784757083.htmlT: https://twitter.com/MrJoeKeenan?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5EauthorLike to have a ASC cinematographer as a mentor?Have you thought of upgrading your cinematography game? 5 Steps to Stop Negative Self Talk

This episode is directly from my work as a Life Coach.  Things you say to yourself about yourself that are reeking havoc on you. I want to not just address this topic but give you a step by step process to start working through negative self talk. As a life coach to women, I not only hear negative self talk from my clients, but it is something as a woman that I have struggled with.  “Your thighs are so fat” “You don't know anything” You are absolutely going to fail at this” “Look at the rolls on my stomach” Your sentences might be different, but because you believe what you are saying it is hurting you.  But, is it really your voice saying these things?  Maybe it sounds like you, but I challenge that it really is you.  I want to help you start the process of removing negative self talk using my 5 step process below. This is not a one and done. You are literally changing your thoughts. Some deeply rooted and deeply WOUNDING thoughts. You can see that having a safe space and guidance for this type of work can not only help but provide support you need. Book a session with me today HERE to work together through this and more.  Start with these steps I walk clients through: Do a brain dump for 2 minutes writing ALL the things you say about your body. Now reread the list and choose the top 2-3 things you say that you want to change now. Highlight them. Taking each negative thought/belief you chose you will now rewrite what you want to believe instead. example: my client’s negative thought “my thighs are fat”  what she chose to believe instead “my legs are strong” (this was what she wanted....it’s always about YOU) Write the 2/3 NEW thoughts. Set a time(s) each day you will practice saying them out loud to yourself everyday. Preferably in the mirror (but not required)⠀ BONUS: Set up an anchor to remind you of this new practice. * for my client it was when she put her watch on every morning. It reminded her she was PUTTING ON these new thoughts. Episode 168: Putting on a play your administration doesn't like Sometimes you want to do a show on a tough subject matter. Sometimes your administration doesn't want you to. In this episode, teacher Chris Evans talks about his experience producing a play on gun violence. How did he communicate with his administration? What was the response? What advice does he have for others? Show Notes Clowns with Guns Chicken. Road. Episode Transcript Welcome to TFP – The Theatrefolk Podcast – the place to be for Drama teachers, Drama students, and Theatre educators everywhere. I'm Lindsay Price, resident playwright for Theatrefolk. Hello! I hope you're well. Thanks for listening! All right, this is Episode 168. You can find any links to this episode in the show notes which are at Theatrefolk.com/episode168. Surprise, surprise! Today, we are talking communication – the communication of a play to an audience that's got some tough subject matter, all about communicating tough subject matter to both a receptive audience and a not receptive audience, and also the communication that has to happen between a teacher and their administration about doing a play with tough subject matter. The title of this podcast is: “Putting On a Play Your Administration Doesn't Like – How That Is Not an Impossible Situation.” We recently published a script by Teacher Chris Evans called Clowns with Guns. It is an unflinching look at gun violence in schools. It's one that many people were offended by when it was done, including Chris' administration. So, what was that experience like for Chris? How did he keep a positive communication going with his administration and with all those involved with the show? You don't need to hear that from me! Let's hear it directly from Chris! Let's get to it and find out. LINDSAY: I am talking to Chris Evans. Hello, Chris! CHRIS: Hello, hello, hello! LINDSAY: Hello, hello, hello! Tell everybody where in the world you are. CHRIS: I am smack dab in the middle of the state of Montana – Great Falls, Montana. We're about 90 miles north of the capital of Helena. We are on the plains. It's a beautiful 91 degrees and humid. LINDSAY: All the good things! CHRIS: Absolutely! LINDSAY: There are folks who are very attracted to 91 and humid. CHRIS: I was born and raised in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona in July. My mother never lets me forget that. LINDSAY: So, there's no excuses for you – no excuses for you. CHRIS: This is jacket weather right now, so… LINDSAY: All right then! All right, everyone, put on your jackets and we're going to start this. Actually, you know, put on your jackets, strap yourselves in. We're going to have a very – I think – interesting conversation – I think – a necessary conversation for a lot of folks out there who might be in the same shoes or they're afraid to get into the issues. What we're going to talk about today is doing a play that your administration might not like you to do – or, more strongly, does not want you to do. Chris, you were in this situation. CHRIS: Yes, I was. Basically, the backstory in this is I was looking for a play to do at our state thespian convention which happens every February here and I can't consistently do a theatre form play. Otherwise, the secret's going to be out. And so, I decided to write one and I started, this was around the time that mass shootings here in America were just happening almost daily. I was angry about it so I decided to start writing a play about what seemed to me was acceptance of these shootings happening in America. I wanted to tie it in with a class lesson on absurdity and satire. And so, the play – Clowns with Guns (A Vaudeville) – was born. Essentially, it takes place in a circus atmosphere, with iconic characters, and a group of audience that I call the Goobers decided to come see the show and they're happy to see the show.
