She also has a weekly podcast called “North American Outdoors.” Heidi is very active in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Three of her sons are Eagle Scouts with the fourth one working hard to soon achieve the honor of his brothers. She is an Assistant Scoutmaster with a Troop. On this edition of Parallax Views, Aaron Good, a protégé of previous Parallax Views guest Peter Dale Scott, joins us to discuss his dissertation American Exception: Hegemony and the Dissimulation of the State. Hot off his appearance on TrueAnon, Aaron explains to us his concept of the Tripartite State as it relates to ideas about the Democratic State, the National Security State, and finally (and most controversially) the Deep State (although Aaron's conception of the Deep State, much like Peter Dale Scott's, is very different than the popular QAnon formulation of the concept). In this conversation we discuss:- Peter Dale Scott's conception of the "Overworld" and Underworld of power.- How Aaron became involved in subjects related to Scott's work- The formation of the CIA and its relation to Wall Street- U.S. supported coup d'états and support of Latin American death squads- The Nixon era, Watergate, the Church Committee, the election of Ronald Reagan, and America's political realignments- The John Birch Society, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Trilateral Commission and other organizations/groups- The Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) scandal, The Safari Club, international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi of Iran/Contra infamy, intelligence agencies, and other skullduggery- Alliances between the mob and capitalism; United Fruit Company; Meyer Lansky; Nugen-Hand Bank; CIA agent Miles Copeland's comments about a "CIA within a CIA"- The revolving door between government, particularly intelligence agencies, and the private sectors of the military-industrial-complex- John Locke, the State of Emergency and Continuity of Government (COG)- Nazi legal theorist Carl Schmitt, the Cold War, and the concepts of the Dual State, the State of Exception, and the Sovereign- The hegemonic nature of what Aaron calls the Tripartite State- Peter Dale Scott's ideas about parapolitics and deep politics; the deep political system- Aaron and Peter Dale Scott's recent CovertAction Magazine essay "Was the Now-Forgotten Murder of One Man on September 9, 2001 a Crucial Pre-condition for 9/11?"
Try not to get so drunk you'll admit anything, because we are back for another round of new/old Belgian Mole recaps! Over the last eight weeks, the two guys whose fat heads are far too big for most helmets - Logan & Michael - have been looking back on one of the Best Seasons We Never Covered - De Mol Belgie: South Africa, concluding with the finale and reunion this week. So sit back, relax, grab some biltong or a braai and enjoy this crazy season of television. In this episode, we finally reveal if this season was as good as we remembered, Michael makes Logan jealous, we wonder if you'd ever not want to be the Mole, Logan misses something, Michael ranks South Africa's tastiest animals, we discuss the golden rule of Safari Club, there's a thoroughly non-erotic shower story, we rank the (Belgian) Moles that we've seen, Logan explains whether he regrets Michael's nagging and we say goodbye (for now!) to Belgian Mole. The episodes can be found for one week from the publication of this recap at this link. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube or you can tweet Michael & Logan directly! We will see you in January for Wie is de Mol 21! Please note: This season is intended on being spoiler-free, so please watch the episodes along with us. However, there may be spoilers for the seasons we've covered previously - Argentina, Mexico, Vietnam & Greece. However, it's irrelevant now - the Mole has been revealed. Additional note: Really big thanks to Papa Bear Gilles de Coster and his crew for producing such a fantastic show. It's a genuine delight to cover, unlike other shows we could care to name that rhyme with "Be A Raisin Face"...
What’s in a name? We’ll, lots of things – and possibly even some misconceptions. Safari Club International (SCI) has been fighting for hunters, rights, traditions, culture, and essentially our way of life for years. They are all about domestic and international hunting, but make no mistake, it isn’t all lions and zebras. Tune in to this super interesting conversation with Ben Cassidy from SCI as we chat about, what SCI is doing for you, how they are doing it and some serious battles they are fighting right now. Bear hunting, Tahr hunting in New Zealand, and simply hunting on Sunday in some states - which if you do the math is 50% of your weekend - are just a few things they are taking head-on. Even if a threat isn’t in your back yard, it’s important we support our fellow hunters and organizations like SCI. Together we are strong – and eventually it might be you and your traditions that need a helping hand.As always, we want to hear your feedback! Let us know if there are any topics you'd like covered on the Vortex Nation™ podcast by asking us on Instagram @vortexnationpodcast
Join author Jim Korkis and I as we visit the Magic Kingdom and talk about some of the extinct Magic Kingdom attractions you can't find any more. We talk about major attractions such as Flight to the Moon, the Diamond Horseshoe, and RCA's Space Mountain exhibit. But we also talk about lesser known attractions such as Sword in the Stone Ceremony, Safari Club, West Center Street and the Flower Market. We end with a discussion of our favorite Magic Kingdom parades. It's all part of "Secret Stories of Extinct Walt Disney World: The World that Disappeared". Late ‘80s Northern Virginia/DC area punk quartet Indian Summer recorded four songs with J. Robbins producing in Baltimore in 1989. Thirty years later, that four song session plus a demo are available on vinyl. Formed by four Virginia teens, Indian Summer was a staple of the Northern Virginia all-ages scene in 1988 and 1989, playing Merrifield Community Hall, Arlington Women’s Hall and many a punk house party, a Positive Force show at d.c. space, and some of the first all-ages matinees at the Safari Club. Taking its inspiration from local heroes like Government Issue, Scream and Ignition, Indian Summer put its own stamp on D.C. area punk with passionate delivery and complex arrangements all its own. John Dugan went on to play with Chisel, Edsel, Pat Best in Pelt and Steve Francis in No Dead Monsters. Go to fwtrecords.com to get a copy of the Cherry Smash 12".

"I can take one person hunting, but we all need to realize we're all part of a larger network. We've all got to get involved. One person is not too small to make a difference." - Joe Betar, Houston Safari Club You know those people you meet and connect with immediately? The ones who cause you to quickly forget you don’t know them all that well? That’s Joe Betar. Joe is today’s guest. He's with Houston Safari Club, and we caught up recently in Lincoln, Nebraska—my first trip there this year. We were both there for R3, the symposium pulled together to solve for huntings challenges, specifically when it comes to recruitment, retainment and reactivation. Joe and I really don’t know each other what I would call well. But at times in this show I forgot that, and I bet you will, too. He’s that kind of guy. Easy going. We have a lot in common, so it made chatting easy. One of those things is we have both switched industries entirely and moved into the hunting industry, coming from very different backgrounds. We also both have a passion for activating a new generation in hunting. Joe is the Executive Director at Houston Safari Club. For many of you, you’re going to be surprised what that actually means. I can almost guarantee many of you don’t know what they do. I know I didn’t know to what extent they were involved in these things. Live at the Safari Club: A People’s History of HarDCore is the uncensored oral history of a notorious underground punk venue in the nation’s capital, told by the very bands, fans, zinesters, promoters, graffiti artists, scenesters, senators’ kids and activists who made it happen. From 1988 to 1997, the Safari Club was Washington, DC’s version of New York’s iconic CBGBs. An Ethiopian restaurant by day turned-Go-Go club-on-Saturday nights, this windowless dive deep in the heart of the city then known as the “murder capital of the world” transformed into an all-ages venue every Sunday afternoon. New York bands Sick of it All, Murphy’s Law, Bold, Earth Crisis and Gorilla Biscuits played their first DC shows on the Safari’s tiny mirrored stage. Southern California’s Chain of Strength, Insted, and Strife all breezed through at least once, while local legends Ignition, Kingface, Swiz, Battery, Damnation A.D. and Government Issue screamed for change. Live at the Safari Club allows the scene to tell its own tales—the broken arms, bruised egos, back-stabbings, riots, rip-offs, fights, lifelong friendships and love stories revolving around the music. Shawna Kenney authored the award-winning memoir I Was a Teenage Dominatrix(Last Gasp), edited the anthology Book Lovers (Seal Press) and co-wroteImposters (Mark Batty Publishers). She contributed to the book 9:30: A Time and Place as well as Spoke: Images and Stories from the 1980s Washington, DC Punk Scene (Akashic Books). Her freelance work has appeared in The New York Times, Ms., Bust, Vice, Narratively, Alternative Press, Creative Nonfiction, and more. Rich Dolinger has played in bands and has been involved in the hardcore scene since the late 80s. He’s dabbled in photography, music journalism, graphic design and film editing. His photography and articles have appeared in Spin Magazine, AP, Highwire Daze and While You Were Sleeping. He owns the Los Angeles-based contracting company Straight Edge Tile. Photo by Kym Ghee For well over three decades now, Mike Gitter has been responsible for hurting your ears. When xXx¨Fanzine released its twentieth and final issue in 1988, he focused on a career in music journalism as a contributing editor to Rip and Tower Records Pulse while freelancing for the likes of Thrasher, Kerrang!, Spin and Rolling Stone (amongst others). A move to New York City in 1989 eventually found him transitioning into the A&R departments of various record labels including Atlantic, Roadrunner, Century Media and Razor & Tie. Some of his more notable signings include Jawbox and Bad Religion for Atlantic, Killswitch Engage and Megadeth for Roadrunner; HIM and Chiodos for Razor & Tie as well as The Shrine and Ignite at Century Media. He’s also worked in music merchandising and artist management. Mike currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA Event date: Tuesday, September 5, 2017 - 7:30pm

Grizzly Times speaks with Sam Jojola. Sam Jojola tells the gripping (and dangerous) story of his career as an undercover agent for the US Fish and Wildlife Service -- and his fascinating later career as an actor, which he says shares a lot with undercover work. For two decades, Sam worked on cases of illegal parrot smuggling, wildlife poisoning, and illegal trophy hunting by Safari Club types. His shares his serious concerns about the legal framework for managing grizzlies if federal protections are removed. Sam says "state and federal agencies need to work in tandem, both are important. With the limited number of bears in the world, and with six out of eight of the world's bear species imperiled, why take a chance with grizzly bears, that deserve everything we can possibly do for them?"
In this episode we discuss people protesting the Safari Club and is Instagram ruining hunting?Podcast
