Part 14 of Everyday Everest, my new Podcast series, drops today with chapters 43, 44, and 45. I'll continue my annual coverage as usual. Based on my 2020 Virtual Everest series, Everyday Everest follows a fictional team of nine climbers and their personal Sherpas from leaving home to trekking to base camp, acclimatizing, and finally, on their summit push, returning home. I'll have a twenty-minute episode a few times weekly for the next two months. In Part 14, our protagonist, Harper, is on her summit push with Mingma, her personal Sherpa. Dawa checks in on them. In dieser Folge beleuchten Franzi und Dinah Freundschaft+ aus der wissenschaftlichen perspektive: Wieso gehen Menschen diese Art der beziehung ein,w ieviele Menschen hatten schonmal soeine Beziehung, und gibt es dabei Gewinner*innen? In dieser Folge nehmen Franzi und Dinah das Love triangle von Jana, Ryan und Sidar zum Anlass um über Eifersucht zu sprechen: welche Funktion hat Eifersucht, welche Komponenten macht Eifersucht aus, und was sagt die Wissenschaft übers Eifersüchtig sein. Wir besprechen das Konzept der Jungfräulichkeit, und was es über einen Mann aussagen kann, wenn er seiner Freundin verbietet mit anderen Männern zu sprechen.

In dieser Folge nehmen wir unter anderem das Love triangle zwischen Sidar, Jana, und Ryan als Anlass, um ausgiebig darüber zu sprechen, warum manche Menschen sich so schnell verlieben. Spoiler: Dinah hat während der Aufnahme sehr schnell bereut, dass sie Franzi so offen erzählt hat, dass sie zu den Personen gehört, die sich rasend schnell verlieben.

In dieser Folge geht es bei Trashologie um die schönsten drei Worte der Welt, die vielen aber auch richtig Angst einjagen können. Sani und Pia sprechen darüber, was eigentlich in unserem Gehirn passiert, wenn wir verliebt sind, was der Unterschied zwischen Schmetterlingen im Bauch und Liebe ist und nach wie vielen Dates man wissen sollte, ob es Beziehungspotential gibt. Außerdem gehen sie der Frage nach, wie man jemandem am besten sagt, dass man sich in ihn/sie verliebt hat oder warum es ein Abturner sein kann, wenn man Gefühle gesteht. Dabei schauen Sani und Pia sich die Liebeserklärungen von Max (Bachelor in Paradis), Sidar (AYTO) und Marvin (Germany Shore) genauer an und geben wie immer ihren unterhaltsamen und wissenschaftlichen Senf hinzu. I interviewed Sidar Ok, an executive coach and renowned independent management consultant in IT strategy, and founder of IQoach. His clients are Fortune 500 companies. However, despite his success, he had to evacuate his family home to record the podcast from a car, because he couldn’t risk waking up his two young children. So throughout the podcast we were worried he might be picked up by the police ;-)   His journey is amazing; fleeing Turkey to avoid going to war and likely to die, working for Microsoft, working in the US, then Dublin and settling in Belgium. His motto is ’struggle is real”, and it reflects in his story, as he taught himself a lot of skills around IT and programming and languages.    What I enjoyed was that we are both doing something similar. We work with companies as a “coachsultant”, offering value as a consultant, then moving on to continue working with companies as a coach. It is about experience first and coaching second. I often use the term ’trusted advisor’.   Success for him is about measurable smart goals, but ultimately about your definition of quality work which you deliver over a period of time to meet the client’s needs. The end in mind, stepping stones and clear goal settings which will be measurable within 2 months of his coaching programmes.   Sidar also gives me the best ever compliment of calling me ‘a coaching genius’ which I found very flattering. He always created a necessity, an urge, to get out of bed and make it happen. His motivation is his drive to achieve more, and to create urgency. For him it is like ‘being dead’ if he doesn’t find a necessity inside himself. His drive is phenomenal and he reveals how he motivates himself.   It’s about one's calling and just going for it, particularly if there isn’t a safety net. To let go of that fear of letting go, to go for what you want to do in life. Fear is what moves you forward, because the cost of inaction is much higher. Sidar then reveals his framework how to implement change with clients.
