Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. (Matthew 23:29-31) 76 God would send His prophet like Elijah, Jeremiah, Isaiah. And if you’ll notice, never in all the history of the world, did ever the church produce a prophet. Search it in the Old Testament, New Testament, or in this day, in the latter day. Show me any prophet was ever raised out of the church in the last day. Show me one ever come up, out. And show me one time that a prophet, a real servant of God, that the ecclesiastical system of the world didn’t condemn him. 77 Just think of it. Jeremiah, Isaiah, all down through the Old Testament, they condemn it. Jesus said, “You garnish the tombs of the prophets and make them white, and you put them in there.” That’s right. 78 The church continues that. Look at Saint Patrick. You Catholic people claim him. He isn’t no more Catholic than I am. That’s right. But you claim him. 79 Look at Saint Francis of Assisi. Claim him. He isn’t no more Catholic than I am. 80 Look at Joan of Arc. You burnt her to a stake, as a witch, because she saw visions and is spiritual. Burnt her to a stake. And that woman screaming for mercy, and they burnt her to a stake. About a hundred years later, they found out that she was a prophetess. She was a servant of God. Oh, course, you done a big penalty: you dug up the priests’ body and throwed them in the river. 81 “You do garnish the tombs of the prophets, and put them in there.” Right. Never did the ecclesiastical system ever produce a man of God; never did, hasn’t today, and never will. Organized religion has never been God’s theme. 82 The oldest organized church in the world is the Catholic church; Luther, second; then come Zwingli; after Zwingli, come Calvin; Calvin, on, the Anglican, Anglo-Saxons taking up, then the Anglican church; and King Henry the Eighth, when he protested, and so forth; and on down to the Wesley Methodist, and Nazarenes, Pilgrim Holiness; and on down to the last, is Pentecostal, all organized. And the Bible plainly teaches that the Catholic church is a—a ill-famed woman, and the Protestant churches and their organizations are her daughters, Revelation 17. That’s exactly right. So they’re… 83 Not the people, now. There is good in all them churches; sainted, saved people. But God doesn’t call His people by an organization. He calls them as individuals. God deals with individuals, whether you’re a Methodist, Baptist, Protestant, and Catholic, or what you are. God, before the foundation of the world, knew you, and predestinated you to Eternal Life, or either you was predestinated to Eternal loss. Not… 57-0821 - "Hebrews, Chapter One" Rev. And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. (Genesis 32:24-30) That’s all that matters here, as long as God comes and answers, as long as we recognize it to be God… Jacob, another character, he was caught between two occasions. He had done some mean things, some sneaky little tricks to his—his father-in-law, Laban. And he was running from his father-in-law, going back home to mama. And when he come to find out, here come his brother that he had done some dirty little tricks to, was coming, meeting him with an army. Just remember, “Your sins find you out.” And then Jacob, all disturbed, and perplexed, and in trouble, set his wives across the little brook, went back on the other side in a unexpected place, and an unexpected time he met God in an unexpected way. What a way to meet God: in a wrestling match. But it was God. Regardless of whether He’s in a burning bush or a wrestling match, It was God. 11 And the main thing was, that Jacob… He’d had dreams and visions and so forth, but this was one time he could lay his hand on something and say it’s God. And he was able to hold onto it until the blessing came. Oh, if we could do that, if we could find a spot to where we could see God, whether it’s in His Word, wherever it is, and recognize it’s God, and hold onto it until the blessing comes… Wrestle it out with God. God promised to do it. God said if we’d seek, we’d find; ask, and it shall be given; knock, it’ll be open. Every Word is true. When Jacob got a hold of something that he could look at, hold to with his hands, and seen that it was God, he would not turn it loose. 12 Oh, if Christiandom could do that. If you can lay your hand a hold of something that’s real, catch a vision of God and see His Presence, and hold onto it until God sends the answer back and the blessing, what a revival would break out here in Tulsa, if people could do that, could see the power of the living God, something real. No matter what form He comes in, we have our ideas. But God has a way of a sending things to us, answering our prayer. 60-0326 - "The Unchangeable God" Rev. The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:3-6) 19 And so, you know, little Jezebel had learned one thing in her home, and that was to use paint. That’s the heathen trait. Any paint, never in the world, but all painting of faces originated with heathens is always condemned by believers. I hope this goes real far down home, just to make you real good and sick for a few minutes. But now, don’t get angry with me; I love you. But I just want to tell you what’s truth. Remember, I’ve just returned from the African jungle. Every one, the tribals of heathen, on every kind of an occasion they paint their face and wear great big earrings. The Indian savage heathen paints his face and puts on war paint when he goes in—in the… His war is worship around his idols. He paints. You ashamed? See? It’s a heathen sign. Too bad it ever got in the Christian church, wasn’t it? Sure was. That was a weak pulpit what brought that in. The preacher ought to be ashamed of himself. 20 So she was used to painting; she made herself a little butterfly. And brother, that’s the kind that can jilt a many a good man. That’s right. See them on the street with a little lip look like a rosebud and a whole lot of Max Factor’s on that, but that’ll never burn out the sin wrinkles. Don’t you never think that. God looks right through it. And so Jezebel knowed how to put it on to make it look nice. And so when Ahab, this young Jewish boy become king, she put the—the manicure on her eyes, or whatever you call it, you know, and she flapped them back and forth, and Ahab’s heart went tumbling, because he didn’t have God in there to teach him better. That’s right. So my, what a—what a thing that was. 21 Now, when she begin to flirt with Ahab, Ahab married her. He thought, “That’s just the one for me.” And a many man’s made a mistake like that. A many man has done it. You ought to see her on wash day, or when she gets cleaned up. Really, might change your mind altogether. Women shouldn’t be married by looks anyhow, but by character. Let me tell you, boy, if you marry her and she’s all painted up, one of these day she’ll fade. Even if she’s pretty, that’ll fail one of these days. Wait till her first baby’s born and the teeth will go to coming out. Little later on, wrinkles will come over her eyes, and the hair get gray. You’ll wake up one morning and wonder what you married. That’s right. I—I mean that, not for a joke. No, sir. That’s true. I’m just laying a background here for something I want to say. See? That’s right. But if you love her because there’s something about her that you’ve prayed over, and God has joined you together, she can get old and wrinkled and be ugly; that won’t make a bit of difference, you’ll love her through eternity. “What God has joined together, no man could put asunder.” That’s right. So ask God first. 56-1003 - "Painted-Face Jezebel" Rev. 1 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. 2 And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim. 3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom. 4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now: 5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight. 6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him. 7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands; 8 And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape. 9 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands. 11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. 12 And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude. 13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother; 14 Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams, 15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals. 16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove. 17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee? 18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us. 19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him. 20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me. 21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company. 22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok. 23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. 31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh. 32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank. 1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids. 2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost. 3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. 5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant. 6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. 7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. 8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord. 9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. 10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me. 11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it. 12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee. 13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. 14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir. 15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord. 16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir. 17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. 18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city. 19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money. 20 And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.

If everyone was predestined to heaven and hell before our birth, then there would have been no need for Jesus' walk of faith, and dying the terrible suffering death on the cross. Calvinism(Reformed Theology) is from the devil and so stupid. -on @KLRNRadio.com CST Sat #GPWF #Christian or anytime at rahardin.com, Podcasts.

The Truth About Born Again Book  https://ubm1.org/books/pdf/TABA.pdf   Salvation Instant and Progressive Book https://www.ubm1.org/books/pdf/SIP.pdf   The Truth About Born Again, Pts. 1 & 2    Greetings saints! God bless you. Thank you for joining us today for the Unleavened Bread Bible Study. Father, in Jesus’ name, we ask You to give us wisdom and understanding today concerning the real revelation of “born-again,” what it really means and what a born-again person looks like. Father, we just thank You for doing this. We thank You for opening our understanding. We thank You for causing us to overcome any traditions of men, Lord, which are pretty rampant out there, concerning this. So, we just thank You, Lord, for doing it. In Jesus’ name, amen. Okay, I think I’m going to start in (Joh. 1:12) But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God,… It is “children of God” here, not “sons of God” as some versions put. They’re two different words and we have to separate the two. The Bible says, (Pro. 29:21) He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become a son at the last. The whole creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. (Romans 8:19) The sons of God look like Jesus. He is the only born Son of God, and we have to be re-born sons of God in Him. But, when we first come to God, we are a teknon, not a huios. A teknon is a child and a servant because of their relationship to the Lord. A son doesn’t have the servant’s relationship to the Lord, a huios. So, He gave them the right to become children of God …[even] to them that believe on His name: 13 who were born,… So, we’re talking about a re-birth here, right? The word, born, here is gennao. It is translated two main ways, “begotten” and “born”. So, when you see the word, begotten, suspect that it’s the same word, born, because it almost always is. A child is someone who is born-again in spirit. They have a new spirit from God, a born-again spirit in the image of Jesus’ born-again Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to create in us the life of Christ. First in spirit, then soul, then, ultimately, body. That’s the job of the Holy Spirit, (Joh. 16:14) …for he shall take of mine, and shall declare it unto you. But the beginning of this process is being a child of God. Now, maybe we can go into that later in more depth. The beginning of this process is a born-again spirit. When you hear people talking about “born again” in the, I would say, apostate church, most often they think there’s nothing more to it than a born-again spirit. They actually say, sometimes, “You’ve got everything you’re going to get.” Well, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a big fat lie. Because there is the manifestation of the sons of God. And we’ll talk about what manifestation means, which means a child growing up to be a son, manifesting in his soul what was put in his spirit. I want to say something about your spirit. Your spirit is clean, it’s fresh, it’s holy, it’s righteous, but it has to be educated. Very much a part of your spirit is your conscience. Your conscience tells you what’s right and what’s wrong, but your conscience won’t tell you what’s right and wrong if you don’t teach it, train it. We, by the Word of God, should be training our conscience to tell us what is right and wrong. If you obey your conscience, which is in your spirit, you will grow up to be a son of God. If you disobey it, you will not. You will not manifest sonship. We are sons of God. We’re all sons of God through faith. Faith calls the things that be not as though they were. (Romans 4:17) Faith is believing you have something because of the Word of God that you don’t manifestly have. Manifestation, of course, is talking about the shining-forth from, the glories of God, shining forth from His people who walk in His steps. So, again, I’m going back to verse 13 here. Remember that. Children are born-again in spirit; sons are born-again in soul. And your soul is your mind, will, and emotions. It is what makes you you. But your spirit is the most holy part of you, and it’s your connection to God because God is Spirit. So, (Joh. 1:13) who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. “Born of God” is synonymous with “born-again”. Now, there is a born-again at the beginning of your experience. It’s receiving this new spirit, this enlightenment. But, you’re also heading towards another born-again, which is called “born-again in soul”. When God, generally, speaks about “born-again,” He’s talking about the whole process, and many people think they’ve got everything right up front, which is a lie, because they haven’t studied the Word. (Joh. 1:14) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us… Now, sons of God are always the Word made flesh. When you study the Word of God, it is to get it down in your soul. You devour it. It’s a food. It’s a Manna out of heaven, it is Jesus Christ, the Word of God. As you devour that Manna out of heaven, you become what you eat, as they say. The Seed which manifests sonship of God is the Word of God. It is His sperma. In some places, that’s the Greek word, sperma. It is His sperma, the Word. If you don’t receive the Word into your soul…the Bible says (Rom. 12:2) …be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,… Your mind, your will and your emotions are a part of your soul. So, to be transformed, you must humble yourself to the Word of God. That is receiving it into yourself, that’s a breaking up of your fallow ground so that it can receive the seed instead of rejecting the seed. That represents repentance. A person must repent when they read the Word of God so that it goes into them and recreates in them Jesus Christ, “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) Which glory? Well, Paul talked about three glories that are three different bodies that a person receives. There’s star glory, moon glory, and sun glory. Yes, there are differences of people in heaven. (Joh. 1:14) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten (This is, again, the word, gennao, which is “born.”) [born] from the Father), full of grace and truth. Well, if He’s the only One “born of the Father”, the only “born Son”, how do we get to be sons? We abide in Him, in His body. We are one in His body as we abide in Him by faith. And we’re sons of God through faith. Meaning, that as we believe we have received what God gave to us at the cross, which is reconciliation, which is a total exchange, God begins and will finish putting that all together. Because it is the power of God, not the power of man that does this. People say, “You can’t do that.” I know. That’s true. But we can believe God, and He can do it. I’m going to read one more verse to you just because we’re there. (Joh. 1:18) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten (Some versions say, “Son.”) Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Now, the most ancient of manuscripts has the word, God, there instead of Son. And the numeric pattern proves that. It proves that “God” is correct. So, you’re really looking at ...the only begotten [God], who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Now, if someone’s born of God, what does God bring forth? What does a human bring forth? Humans. What does God bring forth? God. Who is that living in you? God. He’s the only begotten or born God. So, don’t say it’s blasphemy, unless you don’t believe that’s God in you, unless you don’t believe Christ is in you, in which case, you are, indeed reprobate, the Bible says. (2 Corinthians 13:5) So, if you have God in you, then a part of you is God and a part of you is not. You can be son of man and son of God. If God has a son, what is it? If man has a son, what is it? It’s a human. That’s what you call “son of man.” Jesus was, according to (Romans 1:3), both son of man and Son of God. And we, too, are both son of man and son of God. We are created in His image. And this process is continuing. When you say, “born again”, in a lot of cases in the Scriptures it’s talking about more than just the initial born-again of your spirit, because some people don’t obey their spirit, which is in agreement with the Holy Spirit. Sometimes they don’t obey, so therefore they don’t grow up. Of course, you’re taught by apostate religion that you don’t have to obey. But, everybody who has faith can obey, because when you believe, God gives you power. And if you don’t believe the gospel and you’re believing you’re always going to be a sinner, then you’re always going to be a sinner because the Bible says, “…be it unto you according to your faith”. That’s what Jesus said. (Mat. 8:13) …as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. So, if you want to believe that, go ahead, but there’s no faith involved and you’ll never manifest sonship. Let’s go to (Joh. 3:1-3) Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, (or from above, or of God; they’re all synonymous) he cannot see the kingdom of God. We must be born again, or from above, to see the kingdom of God. You have no spiritual sight or insight unless you’re born from above. And if your soul is born of God, you know Him better than anyone because that’s your mind, your will, and your emotions, coming into the image of Jesus’ mind, will, and emotions. Praise be to God. So, “born”, here, is the same word for “begotten” in the scriptures, and as we read on down: (Joh. 3:4) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? So, He’s not talking about a rebirth of the natural man, but a rebirth of the spiritual man, right? Except one be born anew… This is somebody that’s already alive. Except one be born anew or from above, except a person…so we’re starting out with the person here, we’re starting out with a human, but they have to be born anew from above, or born from above as the translation actually says. But he can’t see the Kingdom of God. Why? Because the Kingdom of God is within you. And the Kingdom of God is something that the natural man has no understanding of, can’t comprehend.  He (1 Cor. 2:14) …receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him… So, he can’t see the Kingdom of God, and Nicodemus asked if he’d have to go back into his mother’s womb. No, we’re not talking about that kind of born-again. (Joh. 3:5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water… (again, “except one,” this is talking about someone that’s already born. Now, this person that’s already born has to be born of water. There are people that say that the water represents the natural birth. No, it has nothing to do with that, whatsoever. Nothing. This is somebody who has already been naturally born, and they’ve already come through that water. He’s talking about another water.) …and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Well, the water, I believe is probably…let’s read (1 Jn. 5:7-8) And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth. 8 For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one. The Spirit, of course, is the Spirit of God, the Omni-present Spirit of God, Almighty. And that is in agreement with the Water, which the Bible calls in (Ephesians 5:26) the “washing of the water with the Word”. This is the Word of God. And the Blood, of course, is not the blood of man, it’s the Blood of Jesus. The blood of man that we inherited through our parents is full of sin. The sins of the parents are passed on to the children, the Bible says. But Jesus is the last Adam. He is the born-again creation, Adam, the One who spiritually fathers all of us. It is He and the Word that He is that is sown into our heart and recreates Him in us. You must agree with the Word. Don’t agree with religion. It’s a farce. The devil always leads people astray with religion. Which one is right? None of them are right. The only One that’s right is in this Word. You can find out the truth if you seek for it and you love it. If you love it, God will show it to you. (Joh. 7:17) If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teaching,… If you’re not willing, if you’ve got an idol of church or religion or a preacher, then you’re probably not going to know the truth. (Rom. 6:16) …his servants ye are whom ye obey;… (Luk. 6:40) …but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher (or master.) You better make your master Jesus. You better make your master the Holy Spirit. If you make it a man or you make it a religion…because Jesus didn’t start any religion, He departed from every religion that was in His time, there’s nothing that has changed, there is no new thing under the sun. No religion has the truth. Oh, they’ve all got pieces of the truth, but they don’t want to see each other’s pieces. So, the best thing to do is to go straight to the Lord. Get it right out of the Word. Don’t trust any man. Seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12) You say, “My version has a little different word there in 1 John 5:7-8.” Yes, that’s true. This one is much closer to the numeric, and it’s pretty close. I would say that you need to pay attention to this. (1 Joh. 5:7-8) …there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood:… Notice that this has nothing to do with the natural water, it has to do with the water of the Word, the washing of the water with the Word. (Ephesians 5:26) Born-again is washing away your old man, drowning him in the baptism of Water of the Word, and it’s a symbol. Your baptism is a symbol of drowning that old man in the Water of the Word, putting him to death. When you humble yourself to this Word, you put that old man to death and the new man that comes up is in the image of Jesus Christ. So, let’s go back, since we’ve looked at that. (Joh. 3:5) …Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Truly so. (Joh. 3:6-7) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. So, if you’re born of the Water and the Spirit, these two agree, it can’t be born of the flesh, which is the natural. So, that’s just more religious hog-wash. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew. Amen. You must be born anew. “Begotten,” by the way, is the same word. So, I’d like to do a little study with you on that word, begotten, to see what it is to be born-again, because you don’t just pick out one or two verses and twist them out of context. We can see that many have already done that with this. So, let’s go to (1 Jn. 2:28) And now, my little children, (And it is “children”, and a little further down, he says, “Now are we the children of God,” teknon, not huios. And if they say “sons,” it’s because they just thought it sounded good, that’s all, because that word is wrong.) (1 Jn. 3:2) … now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him;.. There it is. Oh boy. So, we’re coming into the image of Jesus. Now, let’s go back to (1 Jn. 28) And now, my little children, abide in him; that, if he shall be manifested,… Oh my goodness, Him, manifested, and the word, manifested, here is the word, phaneroo, which means “to make visible or cause to shine.” It’s actually making visible and causing to shine forth, the glory of God. As you come into the manifestation of the Son of God, you shine forth. Paul gives us three stages; he called it the star glory, the moon glory, and the sun glory. I’m not going to explain that to you, but it’s a progressive stage, and the sun is the greatest glory because it represents the Son. Star glory is separate from one another. Moon glory is coming into unitedness, because the moon is one, but also, the moon is dead, and we have to go through death to have resurrection. The moon is dead. It reflects only the light of the sun. That is a stage that we go through. First, we have our own glory, like the star glory, then we have the moon glory, which is death, but it’s unity, because you can’t become one with your brother unless you’re dead to self. A lot of people haven’t made it through that one yet, and maybe never will. And then, of course, the next one is to once again have your own glory, but it’s the glory of the Lord in you, the third stage and the greatest stage of the glory of God, manifested in you. So, …if he shall be manifested… This means to make visible, to cause to shine. He is shining out. I’ve actually had this experience. Once, many years ago, when I was young in the Lord, but running fanatically after the Lord, I had a man who wasn’t even a saved person working with me, and he was watching me closely, he was learning from me. He was a worldly person, but I met him again, some years after I was teaching him how to do his job, and he said, “You know David, I never told you this, but I saw you one time, walking across the pipestill unit at Exon, and there was a glow all around you.” I told him, “You know, Christians have that glow. It’s the glory of God, and sometimes it can be seen, if God enables us to see it. And it grows as we grow.” He was awed at that. It made an impact on him. I noticed, as an apprentice, he watched me very closely. I could see questions in his face and in his eyes. I always talked about the Lord. He was raised a Catholic, and they put that halo around the head of Jesus and the apostles and so forth, and there is a glory that shines forth out of God’s people. Sometimes it can be seen, but it’s always seen in the spirit realm, always. So, anyway, this glory grows and it’s a process, but it grows. And born-again is a process, and it grows too, because your soul is your mind, will, and emotions, and it all needs to come into the image of Jesus. The Received Text, by the way, also has a footnote that said that this word is “if,” not “when.” (1 Jn. 2:28) …if he shall be manifested… It’s not talking about the coming of the Lord, physically, in the sky. We know that’s a “when”. He’s talking about His manifestation in you. That’s an “if.” So, they changed it, because they knew the Lord was coming, so, “that couldn’t be right.” Ha! Now, the numeric pattern is in “if” He shall be manifested. …we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. If there’s this glory shining forth from you, you will not be ashamed at the coming of the Lord. And that is the parousia, the physical coming of the Lord. The manifestation is that epiphaneia, the coming of the Lord in you. The Lord comes first in His people as an epiphaneia, the last part of that, “phaneia,” is like this word, “phaneroo,” which means “to shine forth from.” This is spoken of about the children of God as they grow up in the Lord, the epiphaneia. The epiphaneia is the coming of the Lord in you, and the parousia is the coming of the Lord for you. Of course, He doesn’t want to come for you before He comes in you, because then you would be ashamed before Him at His coming. (1 Jn. 2:29) If ye know that he is righteous,… Hey, what is this “righteous?” It is that “shining forth” of the Lord. How do you define “righteous?” Righteous is being in right standing with the Word. Remember, we talked about the Word being the Seed of God. The Word is manifested in you. Glory be to God. …ye know that every one also that doeth righteousness is begotten (born) of him. That’s right, the word, begotten, there, is genao, the word, born. Now, I favor translating a word the same way throughout the Bible so that you connect things. Now, you see, this is “born again” right here. It’s the same thing. So many times when the Lord speaks, whether He’s speaking through John or whomever, when He says “born of Him” or “born again” or “born from above,” He’s talking about the whole process, not just the beginning of the process. You can do nothing unless you have a born-again spirit. With a born-again spirit, you are then empowered to hear the voice of God through His Spirit, you have a relationship with God through His Spirit. It’s Spirit to spirit, you see. So, Jesus was born of God. He had a born-again Spirit, He had a born-again soul, and He received a born-again body because He had a born-again soul. If you get a born-again soul, you’ll have a born-again body. If you don’t get a born-again soul, to some extent, (30, 60, or a 100-fold) you won’t have a born-again body. When Jesus spoke about those that bore fruit, 30, 60 and a 100-fold, He was talking about the manifestation of sonship, as 100-fold. You’re in this process. We’re all sons of God through faith. You must believe that the Son of God exchanged His life for yours, which is reconciliation, so that now, by faith, you are a son. How do you get sonship? You have to first be a son by faith. So, don’t give up. When you look in the mirror, see Jesus. That’s what the Bible says in (2 Corinthians 3:18). We’ll talk about that a little later. He that doeth righteousness is born of Him. (1 John 3:7) That which is born of Him in you is doing righteousness. The old man doesn’t do righteousness, neither can he go to heaven. Flesh and blood shall not inherit the Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 15:50) That’s what Jesus said. So, he has to die. You have to lose your life to gain your life. By the way, they inhabit the same territory, which is your body, the old man and the new man. Therefore, when the new man takes ground, he has to do it at the expense of the old man. The old man has to die in order to give more ground to the new man. You have to lose your life to gain your life, Jesus said. (Matthew 10:39; 16:25; Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24, John 12:25) The outer man is decaying, the inner man is being renewed, day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16) As the outer man decays, the inner man is renewed. If you’re not going to die to self when you read His Word, if you’re not going to repent, believe, and act on His Word, you are not going to grow up into the manifestation of the sons of God. The whole creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God, Paul said, in (Romans 8:19). Because that’s the only hope that creation has to be delivered from the curse. Jesus went around, delivering the creation from the curse, and so do his sons. The sons of God do the same work that Jesus did. So now we’re seeing that “born of Him” is a much bigger picture. But, it’s part of the process, and also, you see the end from the beginning. You receive the end from the beginning, as the Lord taught you to do. We’re accounted righteous through faith. If you believe He took away your sins and He gave you His life, that’s faith. Then, you must cooperate with Him in this death process of the waters of baptism, putting to death your old man. That is the Word of God, putting to death your old man so that your new man can live. The old man is drowned and the new man comes up, and that’s Christ in you, the hope of glory. And that glory that you have a hope of, of course, is that star, moon and sun glory. I want to continue to tell you what this born-again person looks like. I’m going to start in (Joh. 3:2). Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. It’s not yet manifested. You’re children. You’re a servant.  (Pro. 29:21) He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become a son at the last. You’re a servant of God, a child of God, but you’re not yet manifesting sonship. You are a son of God by faith, but you’re not manifesting. It’s not shining forth yet.  …We know that, if he shall be manifested, (if He shines forth in us, if He’s caused to become visible, shining forth in us) ...we shall be like him;… Oh my goodness, isn’t that awesome? We shall be like Him. So, the manifestation of sonship is to be like Him! And, again, it’s the word, “if,” in the original. …for we shall see him even as he is. How do you see Him as He is? When we look in the mirror (2 Corinthians 3:18) we behold in the mirror the glory of the Lord and we’re transformed into that same image from glory to glory. That’s faith! It’s faith to look into the mirror and see Jesus, but it’s the Word of God. You don’t look in the mirror and see your old man, you don’t look and see yourself as a sinner, you see yourself as a saint. Jesus said, (Mar. 11:24) All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. You have to believe that you’ve received it. That’s how faith works. People don’t even know what faith is. Faith is believing something you don’t see until you do see it. The same goes for healing and everything else you get from God. (1 Jn. 3:2) …we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. Some people have another Jesus and they’re quite content to grow up into this other Jesus because He kind of favors them as they live in their old ways. Of course, that’s not the Jesus that exists, it’s another Jesus and another spirit and another gospel. And with that, you can’t manifest the 30, 60, and 100-fold. Jesus said that 1 out of 4, in the parable of the sower, did. One out of four manifested 30, 60, and 100-fold. You can’t do that if you’ve got another Jesus. You might come into the image of that other Jesus, but that’s not the Jesus. Anything that’s another Jesus is anti-Christ. (1 Jn. 3:2) And every one that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Let’s just believe it like it says it. Now, I know there’s lots of preaching that is anti-Christ preaching that’s against this, but I’m just telling you what the Bible says. It’s the only Seed that will bring forth Christ. It’s the Bible. (1 Jn. 3:4-5) Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 And ye know that he was manifested (There’s that word again.) to take away sins; and in him is no sin. So, when you sin, are you in Christ? Well, no, you’re not in Christ. There’s no sin in Him. You say, “Well, I abide in Christ.” Well, then you have to walk as He walked. That’s what He said. And if you walk as He walked, are you sinning? No, you’re not. And you know that He was “manifested to take away sins.” People think, “Well, we’ll just keep our sin, but we get forgiven.” No, they had that in the Old Testament. You haven’t come into the New Testament if you believe that. He was manifested to take away sin. Now, this isn’t just the action of sin, it’s the very nature of sin. He took it away. He nailed it on the cross. He delivered you. He exchanged your life for His life. Will you accept this exchange? It is a matter of you giving up your life and accepting His life. And in him is no sin, so when you sin, you step out of Him. You can’t grow that way because you’re growing the flesh instead of the spirit. (1 Jn. 3:6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither knoweth him.  So, when you abide in Him, you don’t sin. Who is the man that abides in Him? It’s your spiritual man. Who is the man that does not abide in Him? It’s your carnal man. It’s the fleshly man. You must die. If you feed the spiritual man, he will grow; if you feed the carnal man, he will grow, and you won’t bear the fruit 30, 60, and 100-fold, and you won’t be accepted in the kingdom of God. (1 Jn. 3:7) My little children, let no man lead you astray: (Now, this is so simple.) he that doeth righteousness is righteous, (Well, I know a lot of people don’t like to read 1 John 3, it just doesn’t fit their theology, but it’s the truth and you can ignore it, but you won’t grow up and bear fruit, and you know what He says about those that don’t bear fruit. So sorry. So much for your “once saved always saved” and other such goofy doctrines as that.) …even as he is righteous: (It stands alone. It’s all the Word of God.) 8 he that doeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. (Your old man is from the devil. He is born from beneath, as Jesus said of the Pharisees, the very leadership of His people in that day.) (Joh. 8:23) And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above:… (So, in you, there is a man that is born from beneath and is of the devil, and in you there is man that is born from above, and is of God, born of God. Who’s going to win? It’s up to you.) (1 Jn. 3:8b) … To this end was the Son of God manifested,… (And also, you must be manifested as a son of God. He must shine forth from you.) …that he might destroy the works of the devil. And that, He did. He became a sacrifice, He bore your sins upon that cross so that He could give you His life. He made an exchange, which is the word, reconciliation. He made this exchange. And now you don’t live anymore, Christ lives in you. That’s what Paul said. That was his good confession in the sight of many witnesses. (Galatians 2:20) That’s our good confession too. Jesus lives in me. I look in the mirror and I see Him by faith, not because of my righteousness or my ability or anything else, but because He said it. And because He said it, I’m going to believe it, and because I believe it, I’m going to have it. Jesus said, (Mar. 11:24) Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye [received] them, and ye shall have them. “Received” is past tense. “All things whatsoever.” Have you asked God for the manifestation of sonship? Are you believing Him for it? If you believe that He took away your sins, then you have it by faith. Because when the sin is gone, guess who’s left? (1 Jn. 3:9) Whosoever is begotten (born) of God… This is a truth about being born again. …doeth no sin,… So, that sin that you do is keeping you, in that part of your life, from being born of God. If you continue on with that, you cannot bear fruit in that area and other areas where you let the old man live instead of taking him to the cross.  …because his seed… which is, according to the parable of the sower, the Word of God. There it is, the water, “the spirit and the water.” ...abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is [born] of God. Well, what’s born of God is God. Does God sin? God cannot sin, the Bible says. And if you’re a son of God and that baby that’s being born in you that’s coming to fruition and is about to be birthed to be seen by the world – that’s the fruit of Jesus Christ in you. You may have had dreams like that. Many people have dreams about having babies, even men. What it’s talking about is your spiritual man. Don’t mistreat your spiritual man. He must grow. He needs the breath of God, which is the Spirit of God (same word), he needs water, he needs food, (the Word of God, right?) You’ve got to feed him, or else he just dies in the womb. (Jde. 1:12) …twice dead, plucked up by the roots;… And it’s your fault if you do that. So, “born of God” is not sinning, and that man in you that’s born of God cannot sin. Have you noticed that you’re not tempted with some things you used to be? Can God finish that process and do it with everything in your life? He’s God. Don’t say, “He can’t do this.” You can say that you can’t do it, but that’s okay. But, you can’t say, “He can’t do it,” and if you believe He’s done it, then you have to believe that He’s done it. He took (past tense) away your sin. (1 Jn. 3:10) In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:… Can you have a born-again spirit and continue to walk as a son of the devil? Of course you can. People do it all the time, but they won’t bear fruit 30, 60, and 100-fold. And why did He stop at 100-fold? Because that’s 100%. (Luk. 6:40 KJV) …but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.  Again, you don’t want to look at a preacher or a religion. They’ve always all been wrong. In Jesus’ day, they were all wrong. You have to go to the Word of God to seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12) There are two manifestations happening: the manifestation of the son of God and the manifestation of the son of the devil, and the manifestation of the children of God and the manifestation of the children of the devil. (1 Jn. 3:10b) …whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,… That’s the same thing as “not born of God.” As it says, he is “begotten” or “born of God.” So, if you’re not of God, you’re not born of God. How long do you want that guy who is not of God to hang around? Because you’re running out of time. You’re in this in order to crucify the old man and bring life to the new man. Obey your baptism. It was an act of faith, believe it or not, and you have to believe it. If you believe that at your baptism the old man died and the new man came to life, then from then on you say, “It’s no longer I that live, but Christ that liveth in me, and the life that I now live, I live by the faith of the son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) You must agree with the good confession. Don’t be talking about how you’re a sinner. Repent. If you sin, repent. Go to God and ask Him to deliver you and continue to believe that He has. Once again, whosoever doeth not righteousness is not (born) of God, (He is not born-again. That’s the old man.) …neither he that loveth not his brother. A person that doesn’t love his brother is not born of God, he’s not a son of God. The hatred is the old man. The sin is the old man. It’s not the new man, he cannot sin. (1 Jn. 3:11) For this is the message which ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another: So, if you’re born of God, that part of you which is born of God loves your brother. If you continue to hate your brother, criticize your brother, slander your brother, if you continue to do things against your brother, speak against your brother, which is the word, blasphemy, (to speak against), then you’ll never be born of God. (1 Jn. 3:12) not as Cain was of the evil one, and slew his brother… There’s a lot of people called Christians that are slaying their brother. …And wherefore slew he him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. It’s always that way. He that is born of the flesh always persecutes he that is born of the Spirit, as Paul said. They hate you because that spirit that’s manifested in them is not the same spirit that’s manifested in you. They are contrary. They are enemies. So, what about this love? Let’s go down to (1 Jn. 4:7) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God;… Yes, God is love. Who must we be? Love. We must be love. Go read (1 Corinthians 13) and find out what love is and just know that that’s what God is creating. That’s the end process. …and every one that loveth is begotten (born) of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. If you want to be accepted by faith, through grace, but you don’t want your brother to be, you don’t love. If you’re criticizing your brother instead of praying and believing for him, you don’t love. You want grace for yourself, you want to be accepted, you want to be blood-covered, but you don’t want him to be blood-covered? Then you don’t love and you don’t know God. If you’re factious, you don’t know God and you don’t love and you’ll never bear fruit and you’re running out of time. We have proven (1 John 3:11) and (1 John 4:7), and we know what “born-again” is. Born-again is love. Born-again is righteousness. Born-again is not sinning. Okay, we’re finding out what this is. What is “born-again”? Can you be born-again and continue to do those things? Well, the part of you that’s doing those things is not born of God and I’m going to prove that. Let’s read in (1 Jn. 3:13): Marvel not, brethren, if the world hateth you… Jesus said that if they hate you, they hated Him first. (John 15:18) All that live godly lives in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. If you’re not being persecuted by “God’s people,” you’re not walking before the Lord. Read the Bible. Find out that every person that came and represented a son of God, all the prophets and so on, look at how they were hated. If you’re not walking with God, you’re not going to draw any hatred. If you are walking with God, those who are not born of God in their soul will be your enemy. … 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren… You who don’t love the brethren, who criticize and judge the brethren, who don’t pray and believe for the brethren, are not born of God in that area. …he that loveth not abideth in death. You can’t abide in life if you abide in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother… And by the way, this is not the fierce hatred that everyone wants to make it be. The Lord said that His people hated Him. He threatened to kill them, speaking to Moses, and make of him a greater nation because the witnesses came back and only two of them agreed with God. Those two loved God and went to the Promised Land in their bodies. That’s a spiritual type. The rest of them died in the wilderness because they hated God. If you don’t agree with God, if His Word is not more important to you than your word, or the word of man, you hate God. …Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: And people murder in more than one way. They murder a person’s reputation, for example. He that hateth his brother is a murderer. …and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.  I’m sad to say it, folks, but those are the facts. (1 Jn. 4:7) …and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And His children are love, too. When you’re born of Him, that part of you that’s born in Him is God. I’m going to prove that to you also. If you say that God doesn’t dwell in you, well, you’ve got a problem. You need to be born again. (1 Jn. 3:16) Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Yes. You are no good to anyone if you don’t lay down your life. That old carnal man has to die. As the outer man is decaying, the inner man is being renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16) The more you die, the more you live. It’s just that simple. So, if you love the people around you, if you love your children, your wife, your husband, you will die. If you don’t, you will live and you’re selfish. You want the old man to live. If he lives, you die. Twice dead, plucked up by the roots. (Jude 1:12) You have to be twice-born to be twice-dead. And if you have a twice-born spirit, you can still die. Yes, you can still die, because you have a soul to be born again. Your fruit, 30, 60, and 100-fold, is born in your soul. You already have fruit in your spirit, it’s a brand-new spirit. Thirty, sixty, and one hundred-fold, has to be born of the mind, the will, and the emotions in your soul. (1 Jn. 3:17) But whoso hath the world’s goods, and beholdeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how doth the love of God abide in him?... If you don’t have the love of God, remember, you’re not born of Him. …18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue;… There’s a lot of people that do that. They say, “I love you,” and then they turn around and stab you in the back. They’re fakes. They know what it takes to be acceptable, and they know the lingo, they just don’t have the walk. And lots of times you know that they’re fake, but you give them the benefit of the doubt, you hope in God for them and you pray for them, but ultimately, if there’s a problem, their claws will come out. … but in deed and truth. 19 Hereby shall we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our heart before him:… Amen. Let’s go over to (1 Jn. 5:1) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God:… Do you really believe that the real Jesus is the Christ? Well, you don’t even see Him unless you’re born from above. You can’t see the Kingdom of God if you don’t. …and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him… So, that part of you is born-again if you love your brother, if you love him as much as you love yourself. If you want grace and the blood-covering, but don’t want him to have it, but want to reveal his sins and be angry with him because of his sins, if you want to judge him, but don’t judge yourself, you’re a hypocrite. ...2 Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments… If you don’t do God’s commandments, you don’t love God, according to Jesus, and you don’t love His children, because you’re leading them astray. You’re leaven that’s leavening the whole lump. You have to be kicked out because of your leaven. God does that regularly. He turns people over to the devil for the destruction of their flesh so that their spirits might be saved in the day of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 5:5) If they don’t grow and are just leaven, He just turns them over to the devil and they go berserk and they’re gone. By the way, they’ll crucify you too. …3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world:… He didn’t say, “whosoever”, he said “whatsoever” is born of God. In other words, whatsoever part of you is born of God overcomes the world. …and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith. So, again, a person who walks in faith will be born of God, and whatsoever part of him walks in faith, will be born of God. Whatsoever part of him loves his brother will be born of God. And, if he doesn’t, he won’t bear any fruit. He’ll stop growing right there and won’t bear a fruit. (1 Jn. 5:18): We know that whosoever is begotten of God sinneth not; but he that was begotten of God keepeth himself, and the evil one toucheth him not. You may argue about who this is; it is Christ in you. Because he is born of God, he keepeth himself, and Christ in you is able to keep Himself in you. We know that whosoever is begotten of God sinneth not; but he that was begotten of God… That is your spiritual man. He was begotten of God and he is in the image of Jesus, and Jesus was begotten of God. People argue whether this is Jesus or whether it’s you, but you had better hope it’s both. …keepeth himself, and the evil one toucheth him not… You don’t have to sin. God gave you power over sin. …19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in the evil one. The whole world lieth in the evil one, and quite a few people that are called Christians. You can’t imagine how many Christians are going to take the mark of the beast. You can’t imagine. Let’s go to (1 Pe. 1:21): who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls… This is a born-again soul that’s he’s talking about, as you’re going to learn here. …in your obedience to the truth… What is the truth? It’s the Word of God. It’s the washing of the Water with the Word. Every time that you get faced with a decision to obey your flesh or to obey your spiritual man, you can grow in your spiritual man, or you can grow in your flesh. It depends on whom you obey. If you continue to obey the carnal man, you’ll die, you won’t grow. He says that you purify your souls in your obedience to the Truth. Now remember, in order to have the power to obey the Truth, you must believe the Gospel, the Good News that you don’t live anymore, that sin has no more power over you and that the Lord has given you His life. You must believe the Gospel. You must look in the mirror and see Jesus. …unto unfeigned love of the brethren,… That means “un-faked” love. Everyone in the church says they love you, but do they? If they walk in sin, they don’t love you. If they judge you instead of put faith in your heart to overcome, they don’t love you. If they criticize you and cast you down and cast away your faith, they don’t love you. If you are in willful disobedience and you claim that you’re under the blood, and they don’t tell you, they don’t love you.  …love one another from the heart fervently: 23 having been begotten (born) again,… There it is, born-again. That love, that purification of your soul, that born-again soul, which is your mind, will, and emotions. That born-again soul is what you have to have to manifest sonship. I know there’s a big false doctrine out there about the manifestation of the sons of God, I’m just telling you the truth about it. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. If God says it, believe it. The Bible talks about the manifestation of the sons of God. It’s a good thing. Do you want to be like Jesus? That’s the manifestation of the sons of God, and it’s going to happen in these days. You’re going to see Jesus walking around here in the epiphany, the shining- forth from his sons, doing the same thing that He did, living the same life, loving people, just like He did, walking in righteousness, which is shining forth from them in the glory of God. Oooooh! This is good stuff. I love it. …not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God,… This is the incorruptible seed. This seed, which is the Word of God, when it goes into you, can only create one thing; each seed brings forth after its own kind. That which is born of flesh is flesh, that which is born of spirit is spirit. (John 3:6) This seed of the Word of God can only create in you, God. That’s all. God’s seed does not bring forth man. God’s seed brings forth God. God in you. And you want Him to take over, and that’s what the sons of God are, because they’re born of God. Sons of God, where do they come from? They’re born of God, born out of heaven, born of the Seed. It’s an incorruptible seed, it can’t bring forth anything but God. Anything that’s of God can only bring forth God. It can only bring forth love. It can only bring forth righteousness; it can only bring forth deliverance from sin. If it’s born of God, that’s all it can do. It can’t make man; man comes from man. That which is born of flesh is flesh; that which is born of spirit is spirit. …which liveth and abideth. 24 For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth: 25 But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. What is it that’s going to last? The Word of the Lord. Who is the Word of the Lord? Jesus. Remember the sign He had on Him? The Word of God. He is the Word of God. What is eternal life? What is temporal? Temporal life is that grass. Eternal life is Christ in you, the hope of glory. It is the Word manifested in you. Eat the Word. Become what you eat. Devour the Word. Let it go into you and recreate in You that born-again man. The Spirit, the Water (which is the Word), and the Blood. …And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you. It’s the Good News. Many don’t know what the Good News is, the Gospel, which is the power of God to save. They don’t know what that is. You’re looking at it. What does a saved person look like? Jesus. What does a son of God look like? Jesus. What does a born-again person look like? Jesus. We’re all ending up in the same place here. It’s just different ways of describing the same situation, which is Jesus Christ in you, the only hope of glory. I put the word, only, in there, but that’s the truth. The only hope of glory is Christ in you. How does He get in you? You receive the Word, which is born out of heaven, that Manna that came down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. If you don’t receive God’s Manna, His Word, you will not be renewed, you will not be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2) Every day, the most important thing is to study the Word of God and obey it. If you’re having trouble obeying it, go to the One Who gives you the gift of faith. (Eph. 2:8) …for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not of works, that no man should glory. For in Christ, we were made for good works. One work comes from God, the other one is your own. (1 Pe. 2:1) Putting away therefore (therefore, since all this is true) all wickedness, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 as newborn babes, long for the spiritual milk which is without guile, that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;… Unto salvation. He’s talking to saved people who are saved by faith, but salvation has to come by manifestation. What is the manifestation of salvation? Christ in you. You receive Him by faith when you come to Him. Now, many think that they’ve already manifested Christ and have all they’re ever going to get. That’s because they don’t understand what faith is. As long as you’re saved by faith, you’re not saved by manifestation. As long as you’re a son of God by faith, you’re not a son of God by manifestation. Faith comes before manifestation. Faith is believing you have something because God said you have it, because He gave it to you at the cross. But, the manifestation is when it comes to pass. That’s when the baby’s born. That’s when the world gets to see Christ in you, right? Are you longing after the world? You’ve been distracted. If you get distracted, you will not make it to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. You will not make it. Don’t get distracted. There’s nothing out there that’s important like this is. Now, God knows if you’re after the prize. Just look at that Shulamite in Song of Solomon, she’s after the prize of the high calling. And all the queens and the concubines, all of Solomon’s girls there are all distracted and they think she’s a fanatic. No, she’s the one that’s going to make it. She’ll be the Bride. Don’t get distracted. If you are distracted, ask God to put it in your heart to make you run the race. A lot of people are losing the race; they’re running against the clock, and every distraction they’ve got is causing them to lose the race. You have a certain amount of time to manifest that 100-fold fruit, and if you’re distracted, you won’t make it. The Shulamite wouldn’t be distracted. They all tried to distract her. Notice it, go read it, they all tried to distract her. “No, I don’t have time for you, I’m running after Jesus.” …that ye may grow thereby unto salvation;… There is a manifestation of salvation. It looks like Jesus. It looks like holiness. It looks like deliverance from sin. That’s what salvation is. Let’s look at (1 Pe. 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again… That’s that same word, “bore.” …unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,… When He was resurrected, we were resurrected. We accept that by faith. We only see it by manifestation when we’re willing to give up the old life. We died with Him. So, die! You can’t have resurrection life without death. Lose your life. You can’t gain your life without losing your life. Remember, there’s only enough room in you for one. As the old man dies, the new man comes to life. When they went into the Promised Land, they had to kill the old man to take their house and live in their house and raise their own fruit in their fields. That’s a picture. So, he begat us at the cross unto a living hope. A firm expectation is what the word, hope, means. …4 unto an inheritance incorruptible,… Everybody thinks that’s just what they’re going to get in heaven. You’d better get it down here. This is where the fruit is born. You have to turn dirt to plant seed, and the fruit comes out of the dirt. …and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,… We’ve been given a gift in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In Christ, you are abiding in heavenly places. In Christ, you’re going to have every gift that you’re going to get. Abiding in Him, you bear fruit. That’s what He said. If you don’t abide in Him, you don’t bear fruit and they pluck you up and throw you in the fire. That’s what He said. (Matthew 7:19) …5 who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time… “Oh, I thought I already had salvation!” You have it by faith. You must have it by manifestation. Everything that you believe for from God, you receive it first by faith before it is manifested. You receive the glory of Jesus by faith. As you walk that faith out and you’re willing to die, then He shines forth from you. This is the shining-forth, the glory of God. It’s like the Bride, with the lampros garment, which is the righteous acts of the saints. She has a lampros (Revelation 19), which means a glowing, a shining. Notice, those that are invited to the marriage feast have a leukos, which just means “white.” White is good; lampros is shining. It’s the glory of God. She’s the bride, she is shining with the glory of God. Read (Revelation 19). It’s the same with you. It’s the righteous acts of the saints. That glory that shines forth out of you is the righteous acts of the saints. (1 Pe.1:6) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,… Yes, trials are the way to Jesus. You have decisions to make in trials. The trial is about whom you will obey, the old man or the new man. That’s what a trial is. And, of course, if you love Him, you’re going to keep His commandments. So, what we’re really proving is who loves Him. The ones who love Him are going to manifest. They’re going to have that shining forth from them. They’re going to have that phaneroo, that ephiphaneia. Because they love God, they’ve proven through the trials that they’re going to keep His Word. It’s worth it to them to lose their life and gain that heavenly life and sit next to the Father. (1 Pe.1:7) that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire,… You go through the fire and you come out with the gold if you love Him. …may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:… Notice that He’s already told us that it’s the revelation at the last time. The manifestation of your salvation is not the beginning, it’s the end. …8 whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls… It’s not your spirit. Your spirit’s already saved. In (Ecclesiastes 12:7), it says that when you die, the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. If you don’t overcome, the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. Your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions. It is who you are. …10 Concerning which salvation the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 searching what time or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them. It’s just fun to study this stuff and to just have a hunger and a thirst for it. Look at (Jam.1:19): Ye know this, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God... Remember, the born-again are righteous because the born-again don’t sin. The born-again don’t go out in wrath. …21 Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness,… This sounds just like what Peter said. If you can’t put it away, why would he tell you to do something that you can’t do? If you’re walking by faith that Jesus is the One Who lives in you, He’s got all power. When you look in the mirror and see Jesus, you don’t see someone that has no power. Guess what? You’ve got power. The devil’s trying to tell you that you don’t. You do have power because you believe in Him. You believe that His life is your life, and therefore, His power is your power and you have power over sin. Anyone who tells you differently is telling you the anti-Christ gospel. …receive with meekness the implanted word, (This word, “implanted,” is the same word as “inborn” or “ingrafted.”) which is able to save your souls. Now, who is he talking to? Look back to verse 2: …count it all joy my brethren. He’s talking about us saving our souls. And what is the salvation of your soul? It’s the end of your faith, not the beginning of your faith. As long as you have faith, you’re still waiting for it to manifest. When it’s manifested, you don’t need faith anymore; you’ve got it. (Heb. 11:1 KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is only good until the answer comes. If you’re saved by faith, it means you’re not saved by manifestation. So, we’re working towards this manifestation. As we die, we gain. (Jam. 1:22) But be ye doers of the word,… Again, that’s what the spiritual man does. He does the Word. He is righteous; he loves. …and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. The people that say, “We don’t have to obey,” and “that’s salvation by works,” are deluded. They’re deceived. They don’t want to change. They don’t want to be delivered of the old man. They want to continue on in their sins. And so, they’ve justified this by having a doctrine that’s goofy. ...23 For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:… Yes, if you’re constantly looking at the old man, “Oh, woe is me. Look at that,” you’re never going to get there because there’s no faith involved, and the righteous shall live, literally, from faith. (Romans 1:17) You must believe you have received, Jesus said. All things, whatsoever you pray and ask for, believe you received them and you shall have them. (Matthew 21:22) That is faith. If you see your natural face in the mirror, you will be a hearer of the Word and not a doer of the Word, as it says. …24 for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was… Act when you have the decision to act. When you are in a trial, which is, again, a war between your spiritual man and your carnal man, act in the Spirit. If you walk after the Spirit, you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. If you walk after the flesh, you must die. That’s what it says. He forgets what manner of man he was. He forgets it until the next time God brings it up in front of his face, and if he doesn’t obey it then, he’ll forget it until the next time. But guess what? You’re running out of time. Repent. Follow the Lord. Pray and ask Him for everything and believe that you’ve received everything. After all, we’re trying to find out who is a believer. Not everyone that’s a Christian is a believer. Those who don’t believe don’t go very far. …25 But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing. 26 If any man thinketh himself to be religious, while he bridleth not his tongue but deceiveth his heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. In other words, a doer. If you see your brother in need and don’t help him, how does the love of God abide in you? If you don’t have the love of God, you’re not born again. So, we have this awesome thing that we’re waiting to see. Let’s go to 2 Corinthians and we’ll see the reward that God has for you if you lose your life in this world. (2 Co.3:18-20) But we all, with unveiled face (That is if you’re not blinded, if you haven’t been deceived into not seeing what the gospel is.) beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit. So, notice that you see Jesus in the mirror by faith. It takes some imagination. It’s an image, “into the same image.” You see Jesus by faith, because He gave His life for you and you don’t live anymore, but Christ lives in you.  And you confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. Your faith without works is dead, so when you believe, you speak it. When you believe that you’ve received this gift from God, this free gift, not any of your works, then you’re going to be what? Transformed into the same image from glory to glory. That’s star glory, moon glory, and sun glory. You’re going to go through the process and you’re going to manifest Jesus Christ. (2 Co. 4:3): And even if our gospel is veiled,… And it is. You don’t find this in the dead churches out there; that’s the reason they’re dead. They don’t have any power and that’s the reason they don’t have any power, because they don’t believe the Gospel. The Gospel brings Christ in you. …it is veiled in them that (literally)perish: Wait, he’s talking about (yes, the people of God) perishing! …4 in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them… This is the Light of the Gospel, the Good News that you don’t live anymore and He lives in you.  You see Him in the mirror and are transformed into that same image from glory to glory. The devil is in the churches to deceive you about the Gospel and what it does and what it is, even. They don’t even know what it is. They say it’s “accept Jesus as your personal Savior.” No, it’s not. There’s not a verse in the Bible that says that, not one. He demands you repent and believe the Word. They don’t believe the Word. They don’t know what “born-again” is. Get out of there. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. Get your Word. Read the Word. Get it straight from the Lord. Don’t believe these liars. Seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling. They didn’t have that problem in the first Church back then. Those people were all trained by Jesus. But they said that there was coming a great falling away, and we’re still looking at it. It won’t dawn upon them. …5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness,… That light, first of all, is your spirit-man, shining forth through that soul, that mind, will, and emotions that are not yet coming into the image of Jesus Christ. In other words, the manifestation of salvation. …who shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. There it is again. So, if you’re not blinded by the devil, you can get this revelation. (2 Co 3:18) But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory,… We’re not looking at the natural man in the mirror, because he’s dead. We confess him as dead because we were baptized. The old man died right there. Remember that. The old man died right there. If you haven’t been baptized, you need to get baptized. It’s an act of faith. You’re accepting the fact that the old man is dead and the new man now lives. Read it. (Romans 6) (2 Co.4:7): But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from o

19:1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; 19:2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 19:7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. 19:10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. 19:11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 19:15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence. 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

PRIESTHOOD VERSUS PRIESTCRAFT, Chapter 3 part of of Holy Priesthood Volume 1 http://ogdenkraut.com/?page_id=120 He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion. (2 Ne. 26:29) A priest is required to be different from all other men. He should have two distinguishing features: one is in the nature of the office he holds, and the other is in his character. His office commands him to labor and teach and administer the principles and ordinances of the Gospel. But his greatest labor should be to accept and perfect those principles in his own character. From a retrospect of the requirements of the servants of God to preach the Gospel, we find FEW qualified even to be Priests. . . . (Joseph Smith, TPJS, p. 112) Difficulty arises because men are prone to do evil because of the forces of the natural man. By overcoming evil they seek to do the will of God. Thus it is by their “works” that the inner man can be detected, for—- . . . every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. * * * It is against the nature of a good man to do evil, just as it is for a wicked man to do good. Because of this simple fact, Jesus concluded by saying, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:17-18, 20)

1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. 1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. 4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 6 And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. 8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. 10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. 11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. 12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. 13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. 14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. 16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept. 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. 21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt. 22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest: 23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned. 24 And Abraham said, I will swear. 25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away. 26 And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing; neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day. 27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant. 28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. 29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves? 30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well. 31 Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them. 32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines. 33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. 34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.

We consider the steps that Joseph Smith took to search for personal revelation and we reflect on the power the scriptures had on him.  Jack N Gerard: In April conference, President Nelson taught, “If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation.” We must learn to rely on the Spirit of Truth, which “the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him” (John 14:17). As this world moves swiftly to alternative realities, we must remember the words of Jacob that “the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls” (Jacob 4:13).

We consider how the Lord is countering calamities today and we reflect on what those calamities are.  Elder Gary E Stevenson: How might you find this heavenly help, even as Moses did, and not be deceived or give in to temptation? A clear channel for divine assistance was reaffirmed in this dispensation by the Lord Himself when He declared: “Wherefore, I the Lord, knowing the calamity which should come upon the inhabitants of the earth, called upon my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and spake unto him from heaven, and gave him commandments.” Using simpler words, we might say that the Lord, who knows “the end from the beginning,” knows the unique difficulties of our day. Therefore, He has provided a way for us to resist challenges and temptations, many of which come as a direct result of the deceitful influences of the adversary and his attacks.

And three of the most misunderstood words in the Bible! rahardin.com- Books, Bio, Videos, Podcasts Email: gpwf@yahoo.com Weekly: M-F,7-8AM; Sat-Sun,6-8AM (CST) ****Richard Hardin, POBox 45684, OKC, OK 73145. ***It may surprise you but Mercy, Grace, and Charity are not different kinds of Love! They are ways that God Who is Love comes to us and relates with us. For example: The Water that comes to your house from the main city water line is divided up when it gets to your house and goes many different paths; to the bath tub, commodes, to the kitchen sinks, to the refrigerator, to the hot water heater, etc. Now when you have a problem and want to identify it to the plumber you say the commode water won't flush, or the hot water heater is not heating, the bath water will not turn on, and identify to the plumber the area he will need to be concerned with. The water is the same in all these areas. Mercy, Grace and Charity are the same Love of God, but it is God (God is Love) working or moving in different ways to us or thru us but it is the same Spirit of God in all cases because we only have one God and one Spirit of God! ***MERCY is God's Love, God, Himself, coming to us, all mankind, reaching out to us and not requiring us to respond either for or against Him. A one-way love, to try to draw us to Him, guide us, or protect us even before or after we turn to Him like in Rom 2:4, "Or despisest thou the riches of His Goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?" God is loving and blessing lost sinners and even Christians who have drifted away to draw them back to Him. This is God's unmerited favor to all of us when we need it. ****GRACE is ONLY the work or move of God's Spirit IN our hearts to create IN us the new heart at salvation, and live IN our hearts as as we grow in Grace as His children. The best description of the work of Grace that I have found in the bible is spoken by the Prophet Ezekiel in Eze 36:26-27, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (27) And I will put My Spirit within you..." Paul says in Gal: 4:6-7, "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father(Daddy Father). Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." Any work or move of God -IN a person's heart only- is what is referred to or called Grace! Any work of God OUTSIDE our hearts to bless us, protect us, etc, is Mercy or Charity. Only the work of God, the Spirit, IN our hearts as a result of us inviting Him into our hearts is a work of Grace! God in any form does not come into our hearts uninvited by us! We have to be in total agreement with God and invite Him in to perform the work of Grace! ****Charity is a work or Word of God to us (Mercy) combined with our willingly inviting His Word (Grace) into our hearts (thru faith our acceptance of His Word) and allowing God to work in and through our hearts (Grace) as we work together with God in a work of Charity to others. ***Our ministers throughout Christianity do not understand Mercy, Grace and Charity or they would not have let the new versions remove Charity. That just shows how weak our "Christianity" is that the ministers throughout do not know the foundational building blocks or words. How can they understand the deeper concepts and beliefs of Scripture when they do not know the basics? CHARITY is when God moves in a person's heart (Grace) to allow His Spirit to pass through the Christian's heart to someone else. The joint effort of God working in & through a person and working together with God to reach out to others is the work of Charity which the devil hates so much he has had it removed from the new modern Bibles. Also, Charity is the same actions of God working with or in people which is described differently by the Apostle Paul who says "faith that worketh by love" which would be the same as a Christian accepting God's call (Word) into their heart, and obeying God's call to teach, preach, witness etc., and God going with the Christian in their heart to confirm His Words thru the Christian to the other person(s) and supply the needs. Mercy, Grace and Charity are the same Love of God, but it is God (God is Love) working or moving in different ways to us or thru us but it is the same Spirit of God in all cases because we only have one God and one Spirit of God!***MERCY is God's Love, God, Himself, coming to us, all mankind, reaching out to us and not requiring us to respond either for or against Him. This is God's unmerited favor to all of us when we need it.****GRACE is ONLY the work or move of God's Spirit IN our hearts to create IN us the new heart at salvation, and live IN our hearts as as we grow in Grace as His children. We have to be in total agreement with God and invite Him in to perform the work of Grace!****Charity is a work or Word of God to us (Mercy) combined with our willingly inviting His Word (Grace) into our hearts (thru faith our acceptance of His Word) and allowing God to work in and through our hearts (Grace) as we work together with God in a work of Charity to others. ***Our ministers throughout Christianity do not understand Mercy, Grace and Charity or they would not have let the new versions remove Charity. That just shows how weak our "Christianity" is that the ministers throughout do not know the foundational building blocks or words. How can they understand the deeper concepts and beliefs of Scripture when they do not know the basics?CHARITY is when God moves in a person's heart (Grace) to allow His Spirit to pass through the Christian's heart to someone else. 1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; 2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. 3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. 4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. 5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. 6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. 12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen. 1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; 6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: 7 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. 9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. 10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. 12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true. 13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee: 14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

Hebrews 11:5 KJV By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Luke 17:34-37 KJV I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. [35] Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [36] Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [37] And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. Joel 2:28-32 KJV And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: [29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. [30] And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. [31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. [32] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. Acts 2:17-21 KJV And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: [18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: [19] And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: [20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: [21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 KJV For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. [15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

S There's a lot of anxiety among many Christians today about the potential for a Biden/Harris administration and in particular what it will mean for social issues they care about like Abortion and the LGBT agenda, but also what it will mean for freedom of religion.   So let's talk about the issue of Freedom from a Christian perspective.  (First Light received 11/13) Freedom and Responsibility    "Unto whom much is given, much will be required." Luke 12:48  Perhaps one of the greatest levels of freedom enjoyed is when a sixteen-year-old is finally allowed to drive by themselves. If you throw your car keys to a new teen driver and tell them to have fun, they had better have the corresponding level of maturity and responsibility required to match the newfound freedom. If they do, you have blessed them greatly. If they don't, you have killed them. Freedom either blesses or destroys depending on the responsibility level of the person. That's why the Bible says that if you are given much, much is required of you. No nation has enjoyed the liberty and freedom that America has been blessed with. Countless millions would give everything to be able to live here and enjoy what we do. Our founders believed that God raised this nation up as an experiment in freedom with a government "by the people, for the people". Our founding documents allow for the greatest possible freedom a people can enjoy. However, along with that freedom comes a responsibility to be governed at heart level by the Creator that ultimately determines the fate of nations. William Penn stated that we will be "governed by God or governed by tyrants". True freedom only exists where men will allow God to rule in their lives. John Adams said, "this constitution is made only for a moral and Christian people, it is wholly unsuitable for any other". As we watch our freedoms slowly slip away in this land it is due to the truth that we have not lived responsibly enough to deserve to be blessed with great liberty. We have elevated selfish appetites above the Bible and now instead of being "free indeed" we find ourselves enslaved to those appetites and in bondage to our carnal nature. There is no greater misery than to be free on the outside and yet in bondage on the inside. Our refusal to live responsibly before the God of heaven is robbing us of the freedom, He blessed us with. Both on the inside and also as a nation as we find our God given freedoms being encroached by a government that is now hostile to the Creator Himself. Our heavenly Father is desirous that all men live free "with unalienable rights endowed by their Creator; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". Do you cherish freedom? Do you align with Patrick Henry who said, "give me liberty or give me death"? As our statue reads "those longing to breathe free". Friend, the only path to true freedom inside and out is to bow your knee before the Lord Jesus and allow Him to be Lord of all. Only then will you find that "whom the Son sets free is free indeed".   I praise you that you are the God of freedom. Thank you that "where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty". Jesus, I choose ultimate freedom by making you the Lord of all in this life. Victor Frankl - Austrian Holocaust Survivor "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.   "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way "   " When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.   Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way " Gal 5:1 NIV "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Are we really free here in the U.S.? Set aside the Bill of Rights, we are slaves to   pornagraphy and other sexual signs   busyness   alcohol (don't have to get drunk to be a slave to alcohol) and other drugs    Success   Self-reliance   fame   politics   freedom movie Braveheart -Braveheart is a 1995 American epic historical fiction war film directed and co-produced by Mel Gibson, who portrays William Wallace, a late-13th-century Scottish warrior. The film depicts the life of Wallace leading the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. - spoiler alert here for those of you haven't seen it, but in the final scene Wallace is gruesomely executed and as this is occurring he shouts loudly Freedom!  I don't know exactly where are in the end times timeline, I have opinions, but I won't go into that topic right now, but I believe it's clear that persecution in many forms is ahead for those of us who are Christians, who are followers of Jesus Christ.  As we prepare our hearts and minds for the uncertainties that lie ahead and as we resolve in ourselves we will stand firm for Christ, as a first step let us commit that whatever it takes we will cast away anything that is enslaving us and pursue Jesus Christ passionately.  Let us turn over everything to Him.  Yes, that includes our work and careers and every aspect of our work, and it includes our relationships and interests outside of work.  As Hebrews 12:1 KJV says "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us"   E COD - Dietrich Boenhoffer Ch 30, p 264 “Let the Christian remain in the world, not because of the good gifts of creation, not because of his responsibility for the course of the world, but for the sake of the Body of the incarnate Christ. Let him remain in the world to fully engage in frontal assault on it, and let him live the life of secular calling in order to show himself as a stranger in this world all the more “   L 1 Thess 5:11-14 NKJV "Therefore [b]comfort each other and [c]edify one another, just as you also are doing. 12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and [d]admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. 14 Now we [e]exhort you, brethren, warn those who are [f]unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. " A Censorship Interesting hypothesis by Youtuber Fisher Man of where we are in the end times calendar using the constelations as well as world events, Gen 1:14 " Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj1uhVEWz5o&t=551s   H Email-change the subject line if forwarding or replying and the main point of email has changed

When the holy and most pure child Mary (Mariam or Miriam in Hebrew) reached the age of three, her parents, the righteous Joachim and Anna, fulfilled the vow they had made to dedicate her to God. Going in procession with a company of maidens carrying torches, they presented their child at the Temple in Jerusalem, where Zecharias the High Priest took her under his care, blessing her with these words: "The Lord has glorified thy name in every generation; it is in thee that He will reveal the Redemption that he has prepared for his people in the last days." He then brought the child into the Holy of Holies — something completely unheard-of, for under the Law only the High Priest was allowed to enter the Holy Place, and he only once a year on the Day of Atonement.   (In the icon of the feast, the maidens who accompany the Theotokos are shown bare-headed, as was customary for unmarried girls; but the Theotokos herself, though only three years old, wears the head-covering of a married woman to show her consecration to God.)   The holy Virgin lived in the Temple for the next nine years, devoting herself entirely to prayer. In this time she attained the utter purity of heart befitting the destined Bearer of the Most High; she became in her own person the fulfilment and condensation of all of Israel's faithfulness. Saint Gregory Palamas says that, when the Theotokos entered the Holy of Holies, the time of preparation and testing of the Old Covenant came to an end for Israel, which was now ready, in the blessed Virgin, to bring forth the Savior.   When Mary approached marriageable age, she was entrusted to the chaste widower Joseph to guard her. (The Prologue says that a life of intentional virginity was unknown among the Hebrews, so the righteous Joseph undertook the forms of marriage so as not to cause scandal among the people.)   "Wherefore the Church rejoices and exhorts all the friends of God for their part to enter into the temple of their heart, there to make ready for the coming of the Lord by silence and prayer, withdrawing from the pleasures and cares of this world." For more on the Darby Bible Translation see our podcast about it on episode 20. Romans 13: Let every soul be subject to the authorities that are above him . For there is no authority except from God; and those that exist are set up by God. So that he that sets himself in opposition to the authority resists the ordinance of God; and they who thus resist shall bring sentence of guilt on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to a good work, but to an evil one . Dost thou desire then not to be afraid of the authority? practise what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it; for it is God's minister to thee for good. But if thou practisest evil, fear; for it bears not the sword in vain; for it is God's minister, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil. Wherefore it is necessary to be subject, not only on account of wrath, but also on account of conscience. For on this account ye pay tribute also; for they are God's officers, attending continually on this very thing. Render to all their dues: to whom tribute is due , tribute; to whom custom, custom; to whom fear, fear; to whom honour, honour. Owe no one anything, unless to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. For, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not lust; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love works no ill to its neighbour; love therefore is the whole law. This also, knowing the time, that it is already time that *we* should be aroused out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, and the day is near; let us cast away therefore the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. As in the day, let us walk becomingly; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and lasciviousness, not in strife and emulation. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not take forethought for the flesh to fulfil its lusts.

CCPhilly Wednesday Teachings

17:14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 17:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. 17:24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 17:25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 17:26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. 18:1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 18:2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 18:7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! 18:8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. 18:9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

For more on the Darby Bible Translation see our podcast about it on episode 20. Romans 3: What then is the superiority of the Jew? or what the profit of circumcision? Much every way: and first, indeed, that to them were entrusted the oracles of God. For what? if some have not believed, shall their unbelief make the faith of God of none effect? Far be the thought: but let God be true, and every man false; according as it is written, So that thou shouldest be justified in thy words, and shouldest overcome when thou art in judgment. But if our unrighteousness commend God's righteousness, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak according to man. Far be the thought: since how shall God judge the world? For if the truth of God, in my lie, has more abounded to his glory, why yet am *I* also judged as a sinner? and not, according as we are injuriously charged, and according as some affirm that we say, Let us practise evil things, that good ones may come? whose judgment is just. What then? are we better? No, in no wise: for we have before charged both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin: according as it is written, There is not a righteous man , not even one; there is not the man that understands, there is not one that seeks after God. All have gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is not one that practises goodness, there is not so much as one: their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; asps' poison is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; swift their feet to shed blood; ruin and misery are in their ways, and way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever the things the law says, it speaks to those under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God. Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law is knowledge of sin. But now without law righteousness of God is manifested, borne witness to by the law and the prophets; righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ towards all, and upon all those who believe: for there is no difference; for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God has set forth a mercy-seat, through faith in his blood, for the shewing forth of his righteousness, in respect of the passing by the sins that had taken place before, through the forbearance of God; for the shewing forth of his righteousness in the present time, so that he should be just, and justify him that is of the faith of Jesus. Where then is boasting? It has been excluded. By what law? of works? Nay, but by law of faith; for we reckon that a man is justified by faith, without works of law. Is God the God of Jews only? is he not of the nations also? Yea, of nations also: since indeed it is one God who shall justify the circumcision on the principle of faith, and uncircumcision by faith. Do we then make void law by faith? Far be the thought: no, but we establish law.

The topic will be how the mind is born, grows old, and dies with the body.Browne 1743 Edition:Besides, we perceive the soul is born with the body, grows up with it, and both wax old together. For as children are of a weak and tender body, their mind likewise is of the same frail complexion. As their age improves, and their strength is more confirmed, their judgment ripens more, and the powers of their mind are more enlarged. But when the body is shaking by the irresistible stroke of time, and the limbs fail without strength, the understanding grows lame, the tongue and the mind lose their vigor, all the faculties fail, and go away together. The whole nature of the soul therefore must needs be dissolved, and scattered like smoke into the air, since we see it is born with the body, increases together with it, and with it, as I said before, becomes feeble by age, and decays.Add to this, that the body is subject to violent diseases and tormenting pains, so the mind is affected by sharp cares, by griefs and fear, and therefore must equally partake of death and dissolution with it. And then, in great disorders of the body, the mind frequently grows mad, raves, and talks wildly; sometimes it is sunk into such a profound and never-ending sleep by a heavy lethargy, the eyes shut, and the head nodding, so that neither hears the words, nor is able to distinguish the face of those who stand about bedewing their cheeks with tears, and striving to recall the departing breath. Wherefore you must needs allow that the mind may be dissolved, since the infection of the disease pierces through it; for grief and diseases are both the causes of death, as we are taught by experience in a thousand instances. And again, why is it, when the quick force of wine strikes through a man, and the insinuating heat works in all his veins, why follows a heaviness of the limbs? The legs no longer support the reeling body, the tongue falters, the mind is drowned, the eyes swim; noise, hiccups, brawlings deafen your ears, and many other evils, the consequence of such debauches; how could this be, did not the impetuous force of the wine distract the soul as it lies diffused through the body? Now whatever can be thus disturbed, and hindered in its operations, would (were the force to grow more violent) be destroyed and utterly deprived of future being. Besides, a person surprised with a sudden fit of a disease drops down before our eyes as if he were thunderstruck. He foams, he groans and trembles all over, he is distracted, stretches his nerves, is distorted; he pants, he tosses and tires his limbs with strange and unnatural postures. The reason is because the force of the disease, driven violently through the limbs, agitates and disturbs the mind, as the foaming waves of the sea are enraged by the strong blast of winds. And then groans are forced from the wretch, because the limbs are tormented with pain, and the seeds of the voice are thrown out from the bottom of the breast, and hurried in confusion, without any distinct accent through the mouth. The man raves, because the powers of the mind and soul are distracted, and their principles, as I said, broken, disjoined, and divided by the violence of the distemper. But when the cause of the disease gives way, and the black humor of the corrupt body retires into some convenient vessel, then the patient begins to rise, feeble and staggering; and by degrees returns to all his senses, and recovers life. Since therefore this soul is so tossed about with such strange disorders, and labors with such agonies in so miserable a manner, as it is enclosed in the body, how do you think it can subsist without the body in the open air, and exposed forever to the raging fury of all the winds? And since we see the mind can be made sound, and be affected by the powers of medicine, as well as a disordered body, this is a strong evidence that the mind is mortal; for whoever attempts to make any alteration in the mind, or offers to change the nature of any other thing, must either add some new parts to it, or take off some of the old, or else transpose the former order and situation; but what is immortal can have nothing added to it, or taken from it, nor will admit of any change in the order of its parts: for whatever is so altered as to leave the limits of its first nature, is no more what it was, but instantly dies. The mind, therefore, whether it be distempered, or relieved by medicine, shows (as I observed) strong symptoms of its mortality. So evidently does the true matter of fact overthrow all false reasoning, that there is no possibility to escape its force; and the contrary opinion is either way fully refuted.Besides, we often seen men perish by degrees, and lose their vital sense limb by limb; first, the nails and toes grow black, then the feet and legs rot; at length the traces of cold death proceed on, step by step, over the other parts of the body. Since therefore the soul is divided, and does not at such a time continue whole and entire, you must pronounce it mortal. But if you think the soul retires out of the dying members into the more inward parts of the body, and contracts its seeds into one place, and so withdraws the sense from the rest of the limbs, yet that place to which the soul retreats, and where so much of it is crowded together, ought to enjoy a more lively and brisker sense; but, since there is no such place, it is plain, as we said before, it is scattered piecemeal through the air, and therefore perishes. But suppose we grant which is false in itself, and allow that the soul may be huddled up together in the bodies of those who die one limb after another, yet then the soul must be confessed to be by Nature mortal. For it signifies not whether the soul dies scattered through the air, or perishes with its parts contracted into one place, while the senses steal away from the whole body more and more, and the powers of life by degrees appear less and less.

Born to Win Podcast - with Ronald L. Dart

If you were in the forest and were looking for evidence that a particular kind of animal lived in the area, you would look for the unique signs and tracks that would tell you the animal had been there. The devil also leaves tracks—and they’re not very hard to find. The prophet Daniel had been fasting for 21 days. Why he was fasting is not entirely clear except that he wanted to understand some earlier prophecies. He was in Babylon - more specifically, in the old region of Persia, along the banks of a river called Hiddekel. As he stood there, staring into the water, he sensed a presence. Looking up, he saw what appeared to be a man. It was, however, a most singular man. Daniel describes him as dressed in white linen, with a solid gold belt. His body, according to Daniel, was like beryl, his arms and legs like polished brass. But what turned Daniel’s knees to jelly and left him trembling was the face of the man. The best Daniel could do was to describe his face as the color of lightning and his eyes like lamps of fire. When Daniel saw this “man,” he collapsed in a heap, face down upon the ground. He was sure enough that what he saw was a spirit, but he did not know how to respond. The “man” (by now we suspect he is an angel) put out his hand and took Daniel and pulled him up on to his hands and knees. This is what Daniel heard him say: Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. Daniel 10:12–14 KJV Now the vision Daniel received in answer to his prolonged prayer is fascinating enough, but in the process of revealing the vision, the messenger of God dropped a small piece of tantalizing information. Most of us believe that God is all powerful, that all He has to do is say the word and all powers, human and demonic, fall down before Him. Yet here is an emissary of God who is held up for three weeks by someone called the “Prince of Persia.” Who is this “Prince of Persia” and how was he able to thwart an angel of the Almighty? Consider the picture. Daniel fasts and prays to God. God hears him and immediately dispatches an answer. The problem is that Daniel is inside the Kingdom of Persia, and God’s messenger has to fight his way in! It is no small battle - it takes three weeks to make it. Think what this means. There was a spirit being, called the Prince of Persia, who was strong enough to stand off an angel of God for three weeks. In the end, it takes two to one odds to win, and the battle is still not over. Michael, another Prince of God, keeps the Prince of Persia busy while the angel comes to Daniel to deliver the message. One would have thought that God could have whispered in Daniel’s ear, or that the angel could simply have materialized in Daniel’s room. Apparently not. What this story reveals to us, almost as an aside, is that there is a spiritual world alongside our world, invisible to us, but real, vibrant, alive and dangerous. We use the word infrastructure to describe the physical structure underlying our society - water pipes, sewers, utilities - things underground and invisible, but real and necessary nonetheless. What comes as a shock is the fact that there is also a spiritual infrastructure - unseen, not sensed, invisible, but nonetheless real and powerful. Not only is there a spirit world co-existing with our own, but there are spiritual battles routinely fought around us, and the outcome is by no means automatic. The angel revealed to Daniel, not only that he had to fight his way in, he was going to have to fight his way out. “Now you understand why I have come to you,” he said, “and now I must return to fight with the Prince of Persia” (verse 20). Then, he introduced a newplayer: “. . . and when I am gone forth, lo, the Prince of Grecia shall come.” If you know your history, you might suppose the Prince of Grecia was Alexander the Great, but the context seems to be running at a different level. This seems to be yet another spirit being, identified with yet another country, for he proceeds to say, “There is none that holds with me in these things except Michael your prince” (verse 21). So this angelic messenger, alongside Michael, will be in full combat with two other spirit beings, the Prince of Grecia and the Prince of Persia. One can almost imagine the clashing of great spiritual swords. There is no one place in the Bible where you can read all about the spirit world. We find a hint here, an idea there, a glimpse over there. We are left to put it altogether and draw inferences about the nature of this spirit world. Presumably, God wants us to know it is there, but He does not want us to know too much about it. He certainly doesn’t want us to dabble in spiritism. The more attention you give to the devil, the more likely he is to show up. Nevertheless, it is in our interest to understand what God does reveal to us about this spirit world. Take a moment to read Isaiah 13 and 14. The prophet calls it “the burden of Babylon.” It is a prophecy dealing with Babylon in history, and Babylon at the end time. Late in this prophecy the prophet takes up a proverb against the King of Babylon. In an initial reading, you find yourself assuming that he is talking about a human being who ruled over the Kingdom of Babylon. Then, the prophet names the King of Babylon and describes him: How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12–14 KJV This is not a description of a human being. Lucifer had been in heaven. He had been cast out of heaven. He had actually engaged in a revolt against the Most High God. Lucifer is universally understood to be the devil. We commonly think of a great archdemon when we speak of the devil. What we often don’t consider is the possibility that there is more than one demon prince. Ezekiel describes yet another. He calls him the King of Tyre and says of him: […] Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:12–15 KJV As we read this passage, the realization grows that we are dealing with a great spirit being who was once at the very throne of God, who is called “the anointed cherub,” and who apparently turned against God. Now we either have Satan in two separate situations - one is the King of Babylon, and the other is the King of Tyre - or we have a king of Babylon and a king of Tyre, both of whom are powerful spirit beings. Our knowledge of spiritual things is somewhat limited and we have to be careful about the inferences we draw. Nevertheless, we can be absolutely certain that there is a spirit world out there and that major events take place in that world - some of these things affect our world. Spirit Warriors Joshua had an encounter with one of these great warriors just before the Battle of Jericho. Shortly after the Passover, Joshua was standing not far from Jericho. He turned and saw a man standing opposite him with a sword drawn in his hand. This was not just any man. Joshua challenged him: “Are you for us or are you for our enemies.” The man looked at him and said, “No, but as captain of the Lord’s host am I come” (Joshua 5:13-14). If you have one of those Bibles with marginal notes, you will see that the word captain comes from the Hebrew word for prince. This “man” identified himself as the prince of the Lord’s host. He isn’t named in this passage, but “The great prince which stands for the children of thy people” is none other than Michael (Daniel 12:1). Michael seems to be a major player. Jude calls him an archangel and shows him in conflict with the devil (Jude 1:9). John, in the Book of Revelation, saw him as a leader of a band of angels fighting against the dragon who is also identified as the devil (Revelation 12:7). So at the moment when Israel is about to do battle under God’s direction for the very first time, Michael the prince is there as captain of the Lord’s host. We can’t know for certain, but it seems likely that there was a spiritual prince of the Canaanites. Joshua needed to understand that not only would he fight a physical battle, but a spiritual battle as well. We would love to know more about these things. For example, why did the devil want the body of Moses and why did Michael have to go to battle with him over it? But Jude didn’t bring it up to explain all that. His point was that even when Michael the archangel was disputing with the devil he dared not bring a railing accusation against him (verse 9). Whatever else Michael may have felt about the devil, the devil was a prince with great power. That power had to be respected. I sometimes think of this when I see some holiness preacher dancing across the stage claiming he’s going to “twist the old devil’s tail tonight.” If Michael, the archangel, dared not bring a railing accusation against the devil, who are these preachers to say “I’m going to handle the old devil; we’re going to get a hold of the devil tonight; we’re going to root him out of here.” They aren’t going to run the devil anywhere. They don’t even know where he is, and they have little idea of what he is doing. Jude gave us one other passing clue about the devil. The devil wanted the body of Moses. One can only presume it had something to do with the confirmed necrophilia that exists in so much of the occult. You see it everywhere in occult objects and occult books. Perhaps Satan was going to turn Moses’ body into a cult object. Seven Churches, Seven Angels John is introduced to seven angels in the first part of the Book of Revelation. Once again, they are not the point of the story. We learn about them almost as an aside. John fell into a vision and in the vision he saw a man standing in the middle of seven golden candlesticks holding seven stars in his right hand. An angel told John that the seven candlesticks were the seven churches and the seven stars were the angels of the seven churches (Revelation 1:20). We would love to know more about that, but that is all we get. Then he proceeds to address a letter to each of the angels. This is one of the puzzling things about Revelation 2 and 3. The letters in this passage are not addressed to the brethren of these churches, their elders or their deacons. Each letter is addressed to the angel of each church. One would gather from this that all angels are not alike, because each of these churches develops a totally different character, a different spirit, a different attitude. And when God says, “I have somewhat against you,” He is criticizing the angel, not the church. Not everything in this spirit world is sweetness and light. These are intelligent, active, creative spirit beings who are thinking, working, fighting, arguing, and bickering. They are there. We don’t see them - thank God. We are largely unaware of them. It’s only on very rare occasions that a little tear between our world and theirs allows us somehow, momentarily, to interact with someone in that other world. But the other world is there, it is active, and it is powerful. Guardian Angels You may have heard of guardian angels. You may even have wondered if they are biblical. Well, they are. Jesus let drop this nugget of information while He was talking to His disciples about little children. He warned them severely against offending or harming little children, saying: Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:10 KJV Now you may wonder where your child’s guardian angel was when the child fell out of a tree and broke his arm. What we forget is that there are many things in this world more dangerous to children than climbing trees. There are worse things that could happen to a child than falling out of a tree and breaking an arm. The charge given to guardian angels is not to prevent your children from getting hurt while they are having a good time. Children get hurt as a part of living. They take chances, they have successes, they have failures. It’s all a part of growing up and a part of developing character. It teaches us how to handle pain, how to learn from disaster, how to live with broken arms and even broken heads. As bad as physical danger is, that is not where the most serious danger lies with children. There is danger to children from a spirit world and from the wars that rage unseen around us. Seeing to it that your child doesn’t get hurt physically is your job. Your guardian angel is there to see to it that the child is protected from that spiritual war. The Dominant Spirit Among all the spirits that ebb and flow in this world, there is one that is dominant. There is a familiar passage in the fourth chapter of Matthew that describes one of those rare occasions where a human being finds himself in direct confrontation with the devil. It is the temptation of Christ. It is not what one might have expected. Jesus had been fasting for 40 days and 40 nights and had become very hungry. The devil came to Him and said, “Here are some stones. If you are the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” His first challenge to Jesus was a challenge of His relationship with God. Jesus’ response was simple. He said, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds our of the mouth of God.” Defeated on this issue, the devil took Him up to the pinnacle of the Temple. He said, “If you be the Son of God, cast yourself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning thee: in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Once again Jesus answered, “It is written, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” As an aside, notice that Jesus’ defense against temptation every time is the written Word of God. Also notice that each time Satan’s challenge is to His relationship with God: “If you be the Son of God.” Finally there is the third temptation. The devil took Jesus up to an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and promised, “All these things will I give thee, if thou will fall down and worship me” (Matthew 4:8). Satan was the dominant spirit of this world. He was able to give the power of the Prince of Persia, the Prince of Grecia, the Prince of Tyre, all to Jesus Christ - if only Jesus would worship him and accept his dominance. Once again Jesus appealed to the written Word of God, saying, “It is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.” This was the strongest response Jesus gave to Satan, because this is the commandment Satan had broken. Jesus did not rail at the devil. He did not call him names. But He faced and defeated him precisely on the point where Satan had failed. The question of obedience to God and the maintenance of the relationship with God was a major difference between Jesus and the Son of God, and Lucifer as the prince of this world. Later, when Jesus was giving His last instructions to His disciples, He said, “I’m not going to be able to talk with you much longer because the prince of this world comes and has nothing to do with me” (John 14:30). Now all that was coming toward Jesus at that time was Judas, some priests, and some soldiers. They were merely flesh and blood human beings. But by this time, Satan had entered Judas. The prince of this world was instrumental in the murder of the Son of God. It was a part of his plan. It was a part of his efforts to defeat the Father in whatever effort the Father might make. Spirits That Work And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience[.] Ephesians 2:1–2 There are three important things to understand from this Scripture. First, the prince of the power of the air is a spirit. The wording suggests a discrete spiritual being. Second, this is a spirit that works. “Work” is a simple word, and a word we easily understand. In this passage it’s in the present tense, which means he is working - that there is a constant, deliberate working of the prince of the power of the air. The third point to note is that the prince of the power of the air works in a certain category of people - the “children of disobedience.” These are people who simply do not obey God. Paul says that in time past we walked “according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air.” Walking according to the course of this world is nothing but “going with the flow.” What happens when you decide not to go with the flow? There is another short passage dealing with Michael the prince that sheds some light: And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Daniel 12:1 KJV Where is the connection between Michael standing up and the beginning of the Great Tribulation? Surely Michael isn’t the one who carries out the Great Tribulation. The tribulation is a time of trouble upon Israel. Michael is the prince who is the “guardian angel” of all Israel. Why should he be the one who causes all the trouble? Think about it for a moment. When you “go with the flow” in this world, when you don’t disagree and merely drift along with what people want to do, do you get much “tribulation?” If there is a temptation that comes your way and you merely give in to it, where is the struggle? When you go with the flow, when you walk according to the course of this world, you have relatively less conflict in your life. You probably have no spiritual conflict at all. All you’re doing is making yourself comfortable. But when you stand up for what is right, when you start resisting the flow, when you start trying to do the right thing, that is when the opposition starts. Satan will not resist you when you’re going with the flow - after all, it’s his flow. It’s when you start resisting the flow that you get enemies - human and spiritual. This is a point that bothers many people. When they make a decision to obey God, it is then that their lives seem to fall apart. They are naturally disturbed by this because they believe that obeying God ought to bring blessings, peace, happiness - everything ought to work. Why, people wonder, are all these things happening to me? The answer is simple. God is not the one doing these things to you. You have stood up for God and now you have made enemies and those enemies are the enemies of God. Jesus said plainly, “If they hate me they will hate you.” Then if we stand up for Him, will we not be hated by somebody? If it works this way at the individual level, you can expect the same thing when it applies to the nation of Israel as a whole. As long as our nation is going with the flow, as long as the spiritual world around us is not doing anything in particular, then there is no war to be fought. But when Michael, the prince that stands for Israel, stands up to resist the devil, all hell breaks loose - quite literally. When this all begins to break, the prophet lets us know that it is going to spill over into our world in ways that we cannot even imagine. There will follow a time of destruction and death in the world that your Bible describes as the Great Tribulation. A Time of Trouble And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:7–9 KJV Michael is obviously a major player in this drama. The devil apparently mounts assaults against the throne of God, and Michael and his angels fight against him. Also interesting in this passage is that the devil has angels. Apparently, one-third of the original cast of angels joined Satan in his rebellion and were cast out of heaven with him. The bad news for us is that they were cast out into the earth (verse 9) - and they’re still here. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Revelation 12:12 KJV Satan is your enemy. He is called “the accuser of the brethren,” and he is busy accusing us before God day and night (verse 10). The Book of Job is the story of what can happen to a man when God allows Satan to have access to him. What exactly is our protection? How is it that the devil is not able to wipe us out? Having said that he is our accuser, the prophecy goes on to say, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” (verse 11). It is the blood of the Lamb that stands between us and the evil infrastructure of this world. They cannot touch us unless God allows it. The saints also overcame the devil by “the word of their testimony,” by what they stood for, by what they confessed in their life, what they did, what they said. They also overcame him because they didn’t love their lives unto the death. They knew what was at stake in this great combat for God, and that it was God’s duty to see that they survived. When the prophet says “woe unto the world” because the devil has come to us - along with the host of his fellows - what is it that the world has to fear? From the Bible we learn that there are many kinds of spirits in the world. There is an ebb and flow of them in, through, and around all society. On occasion, what the Bible describes as a “spirit” may sound like a mere human attitude. But the implication as you read about them in the Bible is not that they are merely attitudes. These attitudes have come from somewhere. The Bible describes many “spirits.” On the one hand, there is the Holy Spirit. Then there is a ministering spirit, a spirit of judgment, and “the spirit of Elijah” which seems to be distinct in and of itself. There is a spirit of truth, a spirit of glory, a spirit of knowledge, a spirit of prophecy, a spirit of understanding, a spirit of wisdom. On the other hand there is a hardened spirit, a dumb spirit, a foul spirit, a perverse spirit, an unclean spirit. There is a spirit of antichrist, a spirit of bondage that will bind people where they cannot move. There is a spirit of divination that has to do with calling up messages from the dead. There is a spirit of error where some people can’t seem to ever get their feet in the right way. There is a spirit of fear that keeps us from being able to be confident, going ahead in our lives. There is a spirit of jealousy that comes upon people so that they are unreasonable. There is a spirit of slumber which keeps us from being spiritually awake when we need to be. There is a spirit of whoredoms that probably accounts for those people who are obsessed with sex and carried away with it. There is a spirit of infirmity that leaves people too weak to do the things they need to do. These are all given to us in the Bible as though they were discrete spirits that work and do things in this world. How do they work? A demon spirit can possess a person, but demon possession is rare. What is much more common in this world - and is very familiar to us all - is simple temptation. But the Bible tells us very little about the mechanics of temptation. I presume God doesn’t tell us because we don’t need to know that - in fact, it might be better for us if we didn’t. The truth is that you and I are rarely tempted by demons. It may happen that we find ourselves thinking thoughts that are not our own - thoughts that we believe came from a source other than ourselves. These are not difficult to deal with. It is simply a matter of prayer, of turning to God, of asking for God’s help, and then putting your mind on things that are good. It’s not a complicated problem to solve as long as you overcome it by “the blood of the Lamb” and by your testimony. There is however, a much more grave type of temptation in the world. It is more serious, because we usually don’t recognize it as temptation - at least we don’t recognize it as coming from the devil. Tracks Imagine yourself standing in a forest with a friend. Your friend turns to you and asks, “What kind of wildlife do you suppose there is in this forest? Have you seen any?” Standing where you are, you will see birds, perhaps a squirrel. You’re not likely to see much else, but you know that is not all the wildlife there is in this forest. But even as a total amateur, if you’ll take the time to slow down, study the ground, look at the trees, look at the bark, you’ll become aware that there is more here than meets the eye. For example, you may see branches of a bush that are broken and you might suspect that there has been something there to break those branches. You may see trees with bark knocked off. If you look carefully at the ground, you may see little brown pellets on the ground. As you study the ground a little more carefully, you see the distinctive tracks of deer. You may be lucky enough to find where the deer have bedded down. Their beds are very distinctive and it’s obvious what they are. You don’t have to be a professional tracker to see these things. You can kneel down and look at the dung and see if it’s shiny. If it is, it’s very recent. The deer may have passed this way a moment before you. If it’s obviously dried out, then it may have been some period of time. If it rained last night, and you see a clearly formed deer track, you’ll know that the deer passed this way since the rain. There has been no weathering of the tracks. If you’re walking down a snowy mountain trail, following the boot tracks of one of your friends, and you see a deer track in his boot track, you can conclude that the deer had passed between you. You don’t have to know a lot if you’re in the forest or the field. You just have to look. Now the world is like a forest in this regard. All you have to do is slow down, take a look around you and tell me what you see. If you realize there is a spiritual infrastructure in the world and that there are spirits that work in the children of disobedience, there ought to be something that gives you hints. For example, if you attend a PTA meeting at your children’s school, you may learn that some of the teachers and parents are concerned about children dabbling in the occult. Some parents are concerned because their children have been bringing home games that have to do with wizards, witches, trolls, and dragons. It isn’t as though some demon came along and gave these to the children. They get these things, these ideas, from other kids who get them from other kids. If you look at some of the games children are playing - especially some of the computer games that are out - you don’t have to be a specialist to see the tracks of the devil going right through the middle of your local school. The tracks are there. You just have to look. Drop by your local video rental store and take a look at the different kinds of movies that children can rent. Talk to the clerks at the video store. Who rents these splatter movies, horror movies, demon movies? The largest number of viewers of them are children and teenagers. The video stores aren’t supposed to rent adult movies to children, but they get them anyway. Take a look at the titles, the jackets. Can you see the tracks of the devil through your local video rental store? If there is a horror movie on in the local movie, make your way down there about the time the movie starts and see who is going in. Read the movie reviews. You’ll find the tracks of the devil walking right through the movie industry. But don’t make the mistake of looking for traditional demons and hobgoblins when you look for the tracks of the devil. It’s much more subtle than that. How many movies have you seen in your lifetime that make religion look good? One observer made a strong case that Hollywood hates religion. Movie after movie makes ministers, Christian people, or devout people look like fools, idiots, and worse. Why do they do that? One would naturally suppose that they do it to make money. But the truth is that movie after movie of this type has consistently lost money. When you’ve lost money on film after film making fun of religion, why would a movie studio come along and make a turkey like The Last Temptation of Christ? Perhaps they made it for its artistic value. But the critics panned the movie as art. It was, they said, one of the worst movies of that type to come along. The truth is it would have lost even more money if religious people had not given it so much publication by picketing the movie houses. Oddly enough, the movies that make religion look good make money. The movies that make religion look bad don’t make money. Then why do they do it? Do you see the tracks of the devil in the movie industry? It has been well publicized recently that some of the greatest talent in the movie industry has been lost to AIDS. The reason is that so many people in the arts are homosexuals. Now does it take much imagination to understand why a class of people, whose conduct is condemned in both the Old and the New Testament, might hate God or hate religion? Can we understand why they might want to make religious people look like fools or idiots? The tracks of the devil are all over the movie industry. Higher Education I stumbled across the tracks of the devil where I should have expected them but didn’t. I found them in academia. I read an excerpt from a speech by Christina Hoff Sommers, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Clark University. In the speech, she expressed her concern over the inroads the feminist movement was making in university curricula. However, she drew a very sharp distinction between what she called equity feminists and gender feminists. Equity feminists, she said, are those women who are simply concerned about equality - equal opportunity and equal rights. They are the women who have fought for the right to be able to go into a bank and borrow money on the same basis as a man. In years gone by, banks were reluctant to lend to women to start a business or build a home. It didn’t matter if she had the same income as a man, they just didn’t do it. Equity feminists fought for a change in this area and they were right. On the other hand, there are what Ms. Sommers calls the gender feminists. According to her, the gender feminists are those who are out to abolish gender altogether. In doing her research, she looked at dozens of textbooks in use in colleges across the country. She found evidence of a clear anti-family agenda coming from gender feminists. One, for example, claimed that the family “is a cornerstone of oppression that enforces heterosexuality and imposes the prevailing masculine/feminine character structures on the next generation.” According to gender feminists, the family is the problem. The family, they say, is the root of oppression that imposes heterosexuality on our society. Some feminists look forward to the day when the miracle of science will allow us to alter basic human functions like insemination and lactation and gestation. Perhaps one woman could inseminate another, even men could lactate and nurse a baby. Fertilized ova could be transferred into women’s or even men’s bodies. There probably is a little revenge written into that last one. Gender feminist literature is replete with proposals for abolishing marriage and the family in favor of various forms of androgyny or bisexuality. Yet another authority, Richard Wasserstrom, former president of the American Philosophical Association, argues that all the differences between the sexes are arbitrary and irrelevant. He concluded that in a truly just society we would no more notice the sex of a person with whom we were romantically involved than we would notice the color of their eyes. He recommended bisexuality as the ideal romantic relationship because heterosexuality, even homosexuality, is a reflection of bigotry. Ms. Sommers concludes that war has been declared, not on inequality, but on gender. She saw that the hidden agenda of the gender feminists could not be achieved without reeducation. They are pursuing their goals vigorously through colleges and universities. The gender feminist’s highest priority today is getting rid of the traditional curriculum in colleges and ensuring that feminists and their views occupy a prominent place in every college and every university. They have had a lot of success. For example, you can send your daughter to the University of Nebraska where she can take a course in Twentieth Century Lesbian Novels. The University of New Mexico would offer her a course in Heterosexism and the Oppression of Women. Perhaps she could go to Queen’s College City University of New York, and take a course called The Lesbian in Literature and Honors Tutorial. As I read all this, I slowly became aware that there are two hidden agendas. The front line agenda of the feminists movement is equality. The hidden agenda below that is the elimination or abolition of the family. But there is still another agenda even more hidden and even more serious. I saw it because I was standing still and looking for tracks. There were tracks enough in the mere idea of the elimination of the family. But because I was looking, I found yet another hidden agenda: The Abolition of the Father. Men and women are prone to blame one another for the destruction of the father’s role. They are both right. The men went a long way down that road before women ever started. The fathers have failed, and the mothers have failed, so there is no reason to point fingers at one another because of our gender. What we need to understand is that the devil has been among us. He has come and he has gone, but his tracks are still here. The attack on the family has very nearly succeeded. We’ve gotten to the place where we have one divorce for every marriage in our society. That is not a practical maximum for divorces. We’ll need to have two divorces for every marriage for a while until we get rid of all the marriages. The goal, you see, is the elimination of marriage and the family altogether. Babies are being killed off before they can be born. In the name of reproductive freedom, women and their doctors are destroying the results of fatherhood. The very idea of the father is fading away. This is not merely a war on men who father children. It is a war on the very idea of father. But even the most radical gender feminists don’t understand the depths of what they are doing. They are not the author of the anti-father agenda. It is buried deeper than that. Think about it. Who is there in this world who has more reason than anyone else to hate the Father, despise the Father, destroy everything the Father stands for? It is the devil, of course. And the destruction of everything the Father stands for is the hidden agenda behind the abortion movement. It is the hidden agenda in the hard core feminist movement. Who suffers, who gets hurt? The children, of course. What most people don’t realize is that most of the poor people in this country are children. Not only that, but most of the poor children are poor because of the destruction of the family - they have no father. It is so simple. Ninety-four percent of the married couples in the United States are not poor. The poverty problem in this country is a direct result of the systematic destruction of the family. Poverty is a spiritual problem. Child abuse is a spiritual problem. The sexual abuse of children is a spiritual problem. The solution of these problems will have to be spiritual. Not only does Satan have to be bound, this entire rotten spiritual infrastructure in the world has to be taken away. Satan Bound It seems that it is ultimately God’s plan to gather all this corruption together in one place. John saw it in vision: And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. Revelation 18:1–2 The truth is that the Kingdom of God cannot be established on this earth until God deals with this corrupt spiritual infrastructure. For Christ to return and to attempt to impose His government on this earth while all that is still here would be an exercise in futility. In fact, it would be destructive because of the continuing war. It is impossible to overstate the importance of this one event in the plan of God. All the foul spirits must be gathered together and dealt with, and Satan himself must be bound. What do we do until then? We are stuck here, and the spirit world ebbs and flows and backs and fills all around us constantly. The tracks are everywhere to be seen. There is a short passage in the book of James that is helpful: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:6-7). That will take care of one side of the issue, but there is more here. In verse 11, James admonishes us, “Speak not evil of one another, brethren.” Bear in mind that Satan is the accuser of the brethren, and that there is no better way to conjure up the devil than to start accusing one another. When we’re doing that, we can’t have the protection we need from the accuser of the brethren. You’re helping him make his tracks. And this brings us directly to another point. Stay involved with a church. When there is a war on, the last thing you want is to be alone. One person by himself might fall, while two can stand. You need support, you need encouragement from people who care about you. There are many times when you know what to do - you just need someone else to say, “Yes, you’re right - do it!” You need to have a place to go for knowledge so you can be taught, so you can learn, so you can grow. You need to have a place to go so there will be someone to pray for you, someone who knows about you, someone who is aware of you, someone who cares about you. If you are alone, you don’t have that. You need a place to go for correction, where there will be someone to tell you when you’re wrong. You need a preacher every once in a while to admonish you from God’s Word and to warn you against doing stupid things with your life. Above all, you need a place to go for love - where there are people who care. If there is no place at all to go, write a letter. Keep in touch. Use the telephone. Use the cassette recorder. Do what you can to reach out and stay in touch with God’s people. It’s a jungle out there, and the jungle is full of wild animals. You have no business going out in the dark alone. You should reach out to one another. You should support one another and care about one another. But remember, when all is said and done, you don’t need to be afraid of these spirits running around in the jungle. Those who are with us are greater than all the powers of all of them. Man-child Judges and Preserves (9) (audio) Faction Sacrificing God’s Babies Sandy Shaw, 10/1/20 - Don and Merlene transcribed. (David’s notes in red) In a dream I was in an old house that had a sunken living room. It had four steps down. Then I noticed that everything was dark wood, walls, floors and ceiling and no windows. There were bench cushions all the way around the sunken area. And a long, rectangular coffee table and two lamps at each end of the table. I could see another door area that was a very large archway. And the floor had a brick pit that curved around the outside edge in a circular fashion and it held a huge cast iron pot and the fire was very well lit.  There were two persons in long black hooded capes to the floor and one in red satin. The one that had the red cape was the one that had on black gloves. He threw something small into the pot. I couldn’t see what it was but I heard it cry when it hit the pot. I didn’t know whether it was a cat or a human. (The Lord spoke to me that the factious leader is Satan’s high priest sacrificing my babies, my children to save himself from righteous condemnation of his sin while the righteous sacrifice their own lives to save my children. The blood of my children is upon him and them. Their cries of death are heard by me. Then this verse was spoken to me. Luke 18:7-8  And shall not God avenge his elect, that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them?  8  I say unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? The Lord reminded me of one of the factious, who was among us, was wrestling with faction taking his soul who cried out in our midst the moment he spiritually died. It was a horrible loud cry from him.  We knew a terrible thing had happened to him. The sounds he was making was like he was screaming as he was falling into hell. But after he came out of this experience when he spoke it was demons justifying what we just saw and heard as a good thing. Everyone knew this was a lie. The parallel is obvious; the DS Satanists have been sacrificing babies for many years.  These are now being rescued by Trump forces in their underground cities but most are dead and mutilated. Both of these factions are guilty of much blood.)  Sitting in the sunken living room, I saw the top and back of two people’s heads. Their arms were resting on the backs of the cushions. Each had a large black snake around their arms and neck that extended from hand to the other hand. One of the voices said, “I’m so excited, its finally going to happen.” So when she spoke, I realized that it was Xxxx. And the one sitting next to her was her son. And he said, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” She said, “No!… everything is lined up right. And I can’t wait. I can’t wait; all these years and her damned dreams. And all those dreamers. They think they’re like gods, and they’re nobodies. And David is the ring leader.” Her son said, “Do you think that blood covenant was enough?” (The wicked satanist faction are seeking power from satan just like their parallel in the secular realm.) That’s when I spoke up. “I don’t care what kind of blood covenant you made with the devil. He’s a defeated foe! And me and all of UBM are covered with the blood of Jesus. And in your hand the blood is required for the innocent that is crying out to God. And you will be held accountable. No plot or lying scheme will ever win against God and his people. So already you are a defeated foe.” I knew they could not see me, the ones in the other room by the fire pit were looking and bewildered.  Xxxx and her son looked up; they said, “Where is she?” So I knew they could not see me but could hear me. Then I woke up.  I received by faith at random, Eze. 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he turn not from his way; he shall die in his iniquity, but thou hast delivered thy soul. (So we are now warning them) 10 And thou, Son of man, say unto the house of Israel: Thus ye speak, saying, “Our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we pine away in them; how then can we live?”    Attempted Murder by Witchcraft David: This story started around the latter part of July 2020 through the first week in August 2020 when we wrote this up. We had an attempted assassination of Sandy Shaw because her dreams were revealing the factions sins and they who at one time all believed in her dreams now hated them. (We are not sure all of the faction knows about this but many do.) According to our dreams the factious leader had sent a spy to us who was claiming repentance.  We later tested Xxxx and found her confession very shallow.  Years ago, her husband had come here and they were seeking reconciliation.  This didnt last long; She left us in faction then when she was hunting a man and found one in prison. She admitted this was a terrible mistake which she was warned it would be. So now she showed up at the Shaw’s door claiming repentance. We knew she had been among the factious but she told us she didnt have faction and was not among them except for associating with some of them on facebook because she knew we knew this. Everyone was kind to her and gave her a chance but then she started lying and slandering Sandy to her friend behind her back and was caught, we knew she had not repented. She also mumbled things about seeing the dead and other things and we realized she was a witch. David - My e-mail to the Shaws to test this visitor - July 20, 2020    Jeff and SandyThe Lord reminded me of some of Xxxx's sins against us and her part in the faction. He reminded me what he showed us to tell the factious leader that if He doesnt confess his sins that we can prove, He has not repented. (He had also faked repentance to me but never confessed any sin even though we have absolute proof and witnesses.) The same is true for her. Everyone who repents is not afraid to confess their sins.if she does not have grief for her sins you should quickly show her the door.  I think you had a dream of her coming back and you were pushing her out. Please force this issue kindly, now before our meeting tonight. She should not be in your house if she does not do a good job of repenting because she is just a spy for the faction. Lets command those demons out of your house.  They are deadly.  (Very prophetically spoken)  If she does not confess her sins sincerely Dont let her seduce you.Love, David   Die, Just die! Sandy Shaw - - Don and Merlene transcribed. (David’s notes in red) I was asleep in a room at the hospital (having dialysis). And I dreamed that Xxxx was in the room with me. She was yelling at me, “Die! Just die! What are you waiting for!” Then I woke up. (This woman was sent to release a spirit of death in the Shaw house to kill Sandy and almost did but we prayed for her and commanded her healing, binding the witchcraft and she got a miraculous healing.  But this spirit killed Moma Mae.)   Near Death, Saved Through Prayer Sandy Shaw, 8/6/20 - Don and Merlene transcribed. (David’s notes in red) I was waiting and believing for a healing and for the next few days I had trouble breathing. And it wasn’t because of my lungs that I was laboring...they were clear. Jeff said, “Please Sandy, don’t go this way. Let me call 911.” When 911 got there, they couldn’t find a pulse and the oxygen they put on me was not helping. They hurried and put me in an ambulance and put a different mask on that forced air. They were talking among themselves, “There’s no way she’s going to make it.” They’re trying to start an IV on me, my veins were collapsing. They said, “Look, she’s already purple, she’s not going to make it.” Someone grabbed my hand and looked at my finger tips. They said, “She’s not getting any air!” That’s when I said, “Lord, let this be in your hands; let it be your will.” When I got to the ER, there was a team of people working on me. They still had the mask on me that forced air. They couldn’t find my pulse. After several attempts with different nurses, they pulled one from a surgical team and he found the vein. One of the three doctors said, “We need to put her on a ventilator.” I said, “No.” The other doctors said, “If you don’t, you’re going to die!” I said, “So be it. I already gave it to God.” The other said, “How is she talking to us?” The other nurse grabbed my arm and was drawing blood. She tried to get me to lay down. And I said, “No, I’m not laying down. Take it from here.” The doctors left the room and I still had the mask on, and by now it was about one hour since arriving at the hospital. When the nurse came I said, “I’m getting a very bad headache. And I know, it is because of the mask.” She said, “I’ll be right back.” She went to get an order to reduce the amount of air. I asked her, “Is there any way to warm that up?” And she did. Almost thirty minutes later, my head was hurting again. I told the nurse, “I don’t want to wear the mask anymore.” Then she left the room and said that she would be right back, but she didn’t. So I fought the tight band around my head to take the mask off. So then about five minutes afterward, an alarm started beeping. And the nurses came running in. They wanted to put the mask back on me but I said, “No You’re not!” Then a nurse got a nose cannula slightly bigger than the regular one. They put the air on 11. Then a few minutes later, the doctors came back in with my blood results. They said, “Your phosphates are through the roof (11.6), and your potassium was above 10. People are usually dead when they are this high!” They don’t know why I’m still breathing, talking and still alive! They rushed me to be dilated and I ran the four hour treatment. And immediately, they got blood again. I told the nurse, “I’m getting my headache again.” They were adjusting the air going through the nose. They went from 11 to 6. Then about fifteen minutes later, the doctor came in and shared that my phosphates were 8.6, the Potassium was 7. The next morning, they took me to dialysis, then they took my blood again. When I got to my room, I got a headache and my nose was bleeding. Now they dropped the air down to 2. The doctor came in a little while later and said, “My phosphates and potassium had dropped low enough so that I could go home tomorrow, after one more session of dialysis. They couldn’t get me in the morning. So they came a little after 12 noon. And I have to be on dialysis for four hours and I usually go to sleep.  This time I felt my mom hold my right hand and I woke up quickly expecting to see my mother and she wasn’t there. But I could still feel her hand, There was a big clock on the wall and it said 2:30. (Moma’s time of death)  Then all of a sudden I heard my mother’s voice, “Sandra, don't go out this way, Fight! Fight! God does not want you to go out this way. FIGHT!” And then I didn’t feel her hand anymore. And the nurse hurried up and came to the room. She said, “Who’s in here with you?” I said, “Nothing.” The nurse said, “I am more tired than I think because, I’m now hearing things.” When they pushed me to my room, Jeff was there. He looked like he was struggling to say something. I told him, “You don’t have to worry, I already know.” He said, “What?” I said, “Mama died at 2:30.” (I didn’t feel her hand anymore). That Tuesday, I went on my regular appointment to dialysis. And they run a blood panel. Then on Thursday, all the nurses were amazed; my blood ran normal and also my phosphates and my potassium. (She said the nurses and doctor said this had to be God because blood doesn't act this way.) David:  While Sandy and Jeff were gone Sue G. was watching Moma Mae who was in her 90’s and very frail, needed help to do anything.  She had expressed a desire to go home to be with the Lord.  Sue called me that she believed Moma had stopped breathing, Michael and I went there and found it so.  I didn't believe she wanted to come back and asked Jeff by Phone and he and Sandy agreed.  So this sweet old sister went to be with her Jesus. Leon Lunsford:  I received a text from Yyyyy (A sister who factioned out in anger and criticism). She wanted to know who died. She wanted information on the death and also wanted to go to the funeral. I told her to call David because he had the information. She said, “So do you. This is a brainwashing exercise. Help me out Leon, I just want the information” David:  This woman had gone to Walmart to see Tyombe who worked there.  She was screaming and railing at her very loud that we were all going to jail. She was of course innocent of anything. She did this kind of obnoxious thing to her several times. (We knew they thought they had killed Sandy and were trying hard to find out for sure for they planned to blame it on us as the sister above was inferring with her threat. But they were sadly disappointed.)   The Wrong One Died Merlene Laughlin - (David’s notes in red) I had a vision of the Factious leader and Xxxx facing each other. He was very angry and shouted. “The wrong one died!” Isa. 44:9 They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know: that they may be put to shame. 10  Who hath fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing? 11  Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame; and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be put to shame together.   (I asked the Lord, "Why did you let them kill Moma Mae?"  Immediately He said, "Because she was ready, They have killed many and I wanted them to be seen as guilty.”)   Every Knee Will Bow Sandy Shaw, 10/10/22- Don and Merlene transcribed. (David’s notes in red) In the beginning of this dream the faction had just railed on us. We didn’t hear what they said and we were standing on a platform that was just newly built in a building where there was not any seating. Standing on the platform was Eve, Amber, Sue G, Judy, Sandy, Merlene, Deb F. and Vanessa. (Many of these have had good dreams that the faction hates and they hate them, but these sisters are not haters.) We were all holding hands and crying softly. I knew our tears were for the faction and feeling a great sense of urgency for them. (Because we know the judgments written of them are now very near.  Pray for the elect among them saints.) The people that were standing below the platform were about thirty of them. Some I knew and some I did not: (Here she listed the names of core people who left in previous factions who gathered to this faction.  Those who left with factious spirits and roots of bitterness to defile many, including their own families. 1Jn 2:19  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us. Their hidden sins found them out and the sins they then fell into were worse. Their sins were the same sins as their factious counterparts in the political realm on the far left.  Rom 1:18-2:9  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness;  19  because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them.  20  For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:  21  because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.  22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  23  and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.  24  Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:  25  for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.  26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature:  27  and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.  28  And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;  29  being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,  30  backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  31  without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:  32  who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.  2:1  Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things.  2  And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things.  3  And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?  4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?  5  but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;  6  who will render to every man according to his works:  7  to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:  8  but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation,  9  tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;) I cried out, NO, YOU’RE WRONG! You’re all wrong! The word of God says, every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. God does not need you to believe it for it to be so. The real question is, “Will you bend your knee and confess now...freely? Or on the other side when you will bow down. (meaning after death) Then I woke up. I woke up at 5 AM from sleeping all night. And was ready to go drink breakfast. Jeff wasn’t dressed yet. So while I waiting for him I got sleepy and I couldn’t fight it. So I went back to bed within just fifteen minutes from just getting up. I remember putting my head on the pillow and that’s when God gave me this dream. And when I woke up from the dream, I saw Romans 14:11, Phil. 2:9-11 and Isa. 43:23,24.  Rom. 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God.  Phil 2:9 Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name; 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, 11 and that every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Isa. 43:23 Thou hast not brought me of thy sheep for burnt-offerings; neither hast thou honored me with thy sacrifices. (Rather than sacrifice their flesh they stole, fornicated, slandered and spiritually murdered God’s little ones.). I have not burdened thee with offerings, nor wearied thee with frankincense. 24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast now filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices, but thou has burdened me with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. (We are so ready to welcome these lost souls back when they have repented.  Pray for them saints. Paul had a hand in killing saints but God saved him and he became the greatest Apostle and was highly motivated to make up for what he had done.)     Printer-friendly version

Hebrews 12:5-13 (KJV) 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

I'm your host, KaRyn Lay. I'm not much of a morning person. And my ideal morning routine consists of complete silence for the hour it takes me to get ready for work. I don't listen to music. I don't talk. I'm actually kind of grouchy. My husband knows this, and generally leaves me to my solitary morning activities.  But a few days ago, I had this overpowering need to listen to something while I got ready. And as I headed towards Spotify and my "Good Songs" playlist, I noticed the Gospel Library app, which I had recently put in the same folder as Spotify next to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, in an attempt to choose Jesus over Hollywood. And this one time, it worked. I clicked on the scriptures, and I just hit some random button for 3 Nephi which I guess was where I should probably be for "Come, Follow Me." And as the robot scripture lady started to read the words of the Savior, it dawned on me that I had accidentally started listening to 3 Nephi chapter 13, where the Savior repeats the Sermon on the Mount to the Nephites. I was overwhelmed as I realized that this was exactly what I needed that morning to prepare for the theme of this episode.  "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they toil not, neither do they spend. And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field, even so will he clothed you." This little mourning moment was a perfect illustration of today's stories all about the times in our lives when God steps in to take care of our temporal needs. And we thought there could be no better way to introduce a theme like consider the lilies, than to talk to the man who composed the song by the same name that has become a staple in the repertoire of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple square. Our producer, Erica Free, brings us this story from Roger Hoffman.   Erika  2:18   Hi, Roger, nice to meet you sort of in person. I'm Erika.   Roger  2:22   Nice to meet you too. I'm Roger.   Erika  2:24   Thanks for meeting with me today and—   Roger  2:27   Well, I'm excited to do this.   Erika  2:29   So I guess the first question I want to ask you is, how did you get into songwriting? And was it easy for you?   Roger  2:36   I guess it was about 1982. I left my job so that we could do this full time because leaning on the scripture that says, "Seek ye," and I think the JST says, "Seek ye to build up the kingdom of God," you know, first as it were, "and the all these things," meaning the temporal things, "will be added unto you." So we did that. And it was kind of miraculous because when we needed he money, it was there.  I had a friend of mine who I knew at BYU and he came up to me one day after having I hadn't seen him for years and he said, "Could you use a car?" And it was just on the day that ours had died. So we said, "Yes!" Thankfully, and we and we drove it for a couple of years, you know, so it literally was a godsend to us. So a lot of things happened like that.   Erika  3:30   So Roger, is that how you got the idea for the song "Consider the Lilies"? What was it like for you to write that song?   Roger  3:37   Our bishop had let me borrow a key because we couldn't afford a piano. So I went over there and did my working. And one day, I was just sitting at the piano, piano in the chapel, and playing along with little things. And then this melodic device came into my mind, "Dada, dada, dada, dadum, dadum, dadum, and I thought, "Oh my, that's better than what I write." But then words started to flow into my mind. And just about as quickly as I could write it, I probably, I think I wrote it on the back of an envelope, which is where a lot of things are written, "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, how they grow." And I said, "That's, that is the image. That is what we want to tell our friends," because you know what comes after, "He clothes the lilies of the field, He feeds the birds in the sky, and He will feed those who trust Him and guide them with His eye." Oh boy, that was perfect. That's what we wanted to say.  And so more, more words came, "Consider the sheep of His fold, how they follow where He leads, though the past may wind across the mountains," and mountains are symbolic of difficulty for me. "He knows the meadows where they feed," He's not going to leave you hanging on the mountains, you know. And "He clothes the lilies of the field, He feeds the birds in the sky, and He will feed those who trust Him and guide them with His eye," cementing that wonderful image and, really, that was all I had come to say. And so I thought, "Wow, that's great, I'm done." And so I got up. But there was almost a kind of a discernible little tug on me that says, "Sit back down, you're not done." All of this, of course, not happening in words, just impressions in your mind. And so I did. And this, this line came to me, which blew me away. "Consider the sweet, tender children who must suffer on this earth." And I thought, "Lord, you can't expect me to answer that huge problem in the next couple of lines, you know." And I got up again, and, I'm done. We could change the key of the chorus and have a nice song, you know.  But then the thought came to my mind, "You're not writing this anyway." Oh. So I sat down, and I just listened. "Consider the sweet, tender children who must suffer on this earth. The pains of all of them He carried. Since the day of His birth, He clothed the lilies of the field." And here it changed. "He feeds the lambs in His fold, children, and He will heal those who trust Him and make their hearts as gold." Oh, my, when that entire passage of thinking came to me, I was just overwhelmed. It was so beautiful. It was so right. So loving of the Lord. So I was kind of a gone man for the rest of the day.   Erika  6:39   Wow, I've always had a special place in my heart for this song, and hearing about how it was written, makes it that much more special. Thank you for sharing.  So real quick, though, back to that moment when you have the line come in about the children and you said, "I can't do this." And you stood up, what, what did that feel like? What else was going through your mind?   Roger  7:02   One of the things was I am not adequate. Wonder if anybody else in the world has ever thought that, you know? Here is this big, giant thing that you've dropped in my lap and I am not adequate to do this.  Of course, the Lord knew that. He said, "I know, I know, but I am. So hold on, stay there, and I'll give you the rest of it," you know. And so anyway, that's, that was kind of what's going through my mind and in my heart at the time.   Erika  7:35   What did you learn about our Heavenly Father or our Savior throughout this experience of writing this song?    Roger  7:43   A thing that I have learned from the experience of "Consider the Lilies," and really our whole lives, is man's dependence on God and God's fruitful, generous answer to man's need.  Moses said after he'd seen all the planets and the whole great plan of God, "Now I know that man is nothing, which thing I never before had supposed." And I almost think the sooner we realize how little we are, and I don't mean little, I mean, like, as an a child, little tiny, you know, developmental person, then the Lord is so willing to just pour into us what we need to grow, we've seen evidence of that. I guess it's been how long? Thirty-seven years we've been doing this. So that's probably the biggest thing I think I've taken from it.   KaRyn  8:50   That was Roger Hoffman.  I don't know if I'm supposed to call a composer adorable but I adore everything about Roger and the story of how the song came to be, from the borrowed key to the back of the envelope to the sweet pushiness of the Spirit telling him to sit back down on that bench he's not done. All of those things are a testament to the sermon that the words of the song teach every time it's sung, God's got this. And if we show up, He'll take whatever cloth we bring with us and spin it into gold. Our next storyteller is Tammy who learned that God can and will use whatever means necessary, including Google, to show us His power. Here's Tammy.   Tammy  9:34   Well, my oven died—again. My oven has died so many times, and we replaced the main control board so many times. But this last time when the man came to replace it, he said to me that our oven is so old, we can't even order the part anymore. And I just knew what that meant. And I looked at him and he looked at me and he just said, "You're going to need to buy a new oven."  Now, that might seem pretty easy, a new oven. But no, no, it's not going to be that simple because apparently I have to replace the entire wall unit, which means a microwave, a warmer, and an oven.  So I have to replace this wall unit, and I know it's expensive. And I'm trying so hard not to completely lose it and freak out in front of this man who cannot repair my oven. So he left and I began talking to my husband about it, we do not have enough money to replace this. But I like have no other option. Without completely redoing my kitchen, I mean, you can't just take the oven out and replace it (because I tried), I thought that was an option. And it just wasn't because it's a wall unit.  So I figured, you know what, it's summer, we don't even need an oven. We'll just, we'll cook outdoors all summer long. And so I'd say for a good two months, we barbecued everything, including cookies. I tried to make cookies on a barbecue (FYI, doesn't really work). After weeks and weeks of not having an oven, now we're into the months of not having an oven. And I can't even do my normal things, like, I can't do normal dinner time, I can't do normal family meals. So we go ahead and bite the bullet. My husband, Jim, and I we sit down, we work through the budget, we come up with the amount that we can pay for after some scrimping and saving to make this work—without having to sell one of our children. But even with that amount of money, like we know replacing this whole wall unit, it just can't possibly happen with the budget we have.  The most inexpensive wall unit that I could find started around twice my whole budget. And I'm like that is this, no, I can't even, I don't even have a place for that kind of money.  So then I started doing more research. And my mom worked for a man who happened to actually sell ovens and he said, "We'll give her the employee price discount," which I thought was so generous. And I went online to look up their ovens and those ovens, they were around four times the price that we were able to pay for a new oven. And yeah, that's not gonna happen either.  And so I was super frustrated and sad. And I finally decided, you know what, I'm going to, I'm going to pray about this because I don't know any other way to get an oven within my budget. And I knew I could ask Heavenly Father for help. I've just always known that, I've had that experience many times in my life, where I could just go to Him with something. Like, anytime I lose something, I always pray to find it and I do.  And so I thought, "You know what? I didn't really lose anything, but I do need to find something. So maybe Heavenly Father can help me find a decent wall unit that's within my budget." And so I did, I got on my knees that night for my nightly prayers and I just said, "Heavenly Father, hi. Listen, I know there's a lot going on in this world, but help a sister out because I need a new oven." And I'm like, "And here's my budget, like real, real small. And so if you could just help me find a wall unit within my price range, I would really, really, really, really appreciate it. But if not, help me find a way to buy an oven, I don't know what we're going to do. We're kind of at an impasse." And that was the end of my prayer. And I just trusted that Heavenly Father was going to help me out and I just left it at that. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know where I was going to go. I had no idea.  And so I just let it sit with me for a couple of days. And I'll be, three days later, as I had a chance to just sit down and be quiet for a minute, because I had been so busy for three days, the minute I sat down, the thought popped into my head, "Google where to find wall oven units in Utah." That's where I live. So I Googled it and up popped an ad for this store in Utah that is very expensive. Like completely out of my league. I've been in the store maybe two times only to go in and turn around saying, "I can't afford anything in here." So the thought that I would even click on this is absurd, but I did. And, boom, there is the wall oven unit that is the exact same make and model as the one that I need replaced and it's a newer version, so things can be repaired. And when I looked at the price that this company was selling this wall oven unit for, I didn't believe it. So I had to show my husband, and he didn't believe it. I mean, it was just such a funny moment because we kept looking at each other like, "Wait, is this for real? I can't believe it. Did I just find what I needed on my first click? Is God really that good?" I mean, I'm just, my husband's even thinking this cannot be true. We got to make a phone call.  So we called them and we found out it is true. It's still in stock. And my husband said, "We'll be there in 15 minutes." We've never moved quicker. We got in the car, we drove down to that store, we ran inside. And it just happened to be a wall oven unit that they had been using in their showroom, which had never been used. It was just purely for show. And it was not only within my budget, it came in like 300% under my budget, I think. Listen, I'm not good at the public math, but maybe 3,000% under my budget? All I know is that it came so far in under budget I actually had money left over. I mean it was ridiculous how under my budget it came in.  So we bought the oven. After about two or three more weeks, we finally got it in and we celebrated. The first thing we did was we made cookies. We were so excited. And then every day since, we probably use the oven for all sorts of fun things. Having heavenly father helped me find this oven was just once again a testimony to me from Him, that He loves me. And I will remember, I will remember this story The next time I pray about something that doesn't go the way I'd hoped. I have so many stories in my life where God didn't give me what I asked for. In fact, for 18 years I prayed daily that I would get married and have kids. And I didn't get that for 18 years I'm praying for that. But, you know, I think it's the little things that teach me that He is hearing my prayers, that He is working to answer them in the best way possible.  He helped me with something that seems so simple and maybe stupid to people. I, when Intell the story, sometimes I think people might roll their eyes. But I want to tell the whole world this story because it's just a reminder that God cares. He cared about little Tammy Hall who needed a new oven. And it gives me hope and assurance and faith really, that the big prayers I'm praying for that have gone unanswered I'm still waiting for, I know those prayers are being heard.  This story is taught me the Heavenly Father, He really is my father. And I learned to keep Him involved in my life from the biggest prayers to the smallest prayers. That's what this whole life is all about is asking for His help and letting Him be our father.   KaRyn  16:40   That was Tammy Uzelac Hall. You may recognize Tammy's voice from the "Sunday on Monday" study group podcast where she guides a weekly discussion of "Come, Follow Me."  Tammy told me this story in passing one day right after it happened. And besides being horrified and intrigued by those grilled chocolate chip cookies, I was mostly floored by the way she involves the Lord and the practical aspects of her life. I hadn't really thought of it quite this way before but, of course, He cares about the constraints of our budgets. And of course, he knows what search terms to use to find the answers to our prayers.  Tammy's story reminds us all that while we should maintain faith in the miraculous, we might also do well to remember that miracles aren't magic. God's care sometimes comes to us clothed in the robes of the ordinary and the mundane, but it's there nonetheless.  When our next storyteller, Nicole, first learned about tithing as a new convert, she had no idea how soon after her baptism that commitment would be tested. Here's Nicole.   Nicole  17:44   I grew up going to parochial schools, Catholic schools. My mom's family was Protestant, my dad's family was Catholic, and they were divorced and we didn't really go to church regularly on our own.  By the time I went to high school, I went to public school and I met a good, close-knit group of friends and decided my senior year, after having visited a couple times, I really wanted to ask my best friend if I could go to early morning seminary with her.  I think having grown up going to parochial schools and, and having a religious course of some sort, or a study of God, was kind of ingrained in me a little bit. And I just liked it. And I when I asked her if I could go to seminary with her, she kind of gave me a look. Kind of like, "Okay, sure." And it was an Old Testament year so I mean, really, what a bad year to pick. I feel for a non-member to go to seminary, just intense.  We talked about premortal life, and it was like sunshine for me. I had just always believed that my spirit wasn't new here, then here I was reading it in the scriptures that yes, this is right. And so that right there, Abraham, was what told me that the Church was true.  I guess what a funny way to gain a testimony, right? In early morning seminary as a senior in high school. And through the Old Testament, I was baptized in February of my senior year.  The summer after my senior year, I got a job and I knew that I needed to pay my tithing on my first check. While I knew that, I also knew that I needed to save money for college. And my parents really weren't going to tell me, "Go pay your tithing." They were going to tell me, "Save money for college." But I had decided to join the Church and I had decided to keep the commandments that I had committed to keep and that was one of them. And so I fill out my tithing check, and I got into my car and I got about a half mile down the road when I heard some loud noises, some really bad loud noises from my car and had to pull over on the side of the road.  And when I got out, I saw a good portion of the underneath of my car just lying on the ground. I didn't have a cell phone so I spent the next, you know, 10 minutes walking home in these shoes that weren't comfortable, and got home and called my best friend's dad who was still at home. And he drove, checked out my car, and told me that the majority of my exhaust was on the ground. And he knew a guy and knew a good place for me to send my car, but it was Sunday and I didn't know how I was going to get it there. And the bigger issue for me was, at that time, it just felt like, "Whoa." First of all, I'm not making very much money as an 18-year-old, and I had just gotten my first check in a really long time from a job. And I, here I was on my way to church, and I felt like I was going to be giving 10% of that money away. But now I really have an immediate use for that 10%.  And there was a little bit of conflict that was going on in my, in my mind that, "Well, I mean, maybe I could just use this quickly, to tie that exhaust on my car, and, and get me to my job the next day."  But he drove me with him to church and getting to church and feeling the Spirit just really helped me to realize, you know, I got up that morning with the intent to go pay my tithing. And really, is the broken car going to change my mind on how I felt about that element of the gospel? For me, my answer was no. And I paid my tithing, somehow got my car to the shop the next day, I don't even remember how. It got fixed and I went about my business working all summer.  I didn't really think much of it afterwards. As I went through the rest of the summer, and I was getting ready for college and packing up, I was realizing that I would need even more money than I had initially planned on needing and I was not going to have enough money to cover the rest of the things.  And then about a month before school started, or maybe even a couple weeks before school, school started, I got a letter in the mail, saying, "Congratulations, you've been awarded this scholarship." And I re-read the first section several times because I had no idea where this was coming from. The header was the name of a scholarship that I had never heard of. I didn't apply for it. And as I got farther into the letter, it told me how much I would be awarded. And it just floored me. My goodness, my breath was taken away that I, here I was receiving multiples of the money that I would even owe. And in my mind at that very moment, I was taken back to that first tithing check that I paid that not only was this scholarship covering that tithing check, but it was multiplied so many times.  I feel like this story of tithing is really just a simple story, but it's stuck with me throughout my life. For a long time.  I feel like I would have been able to make enough money or I would have been able to still go to school, the bill would have gotten paid somehow. But the lesson I learned was really by putting trust in my testimony and by following through with that commitment that I had made and that that desire to do what was right, I was able to see those blessings more clearly in my life. And know the instant that it happened, the reason that it happened.   KaRyn  24:29   That was Nicole.  I know it doesn't work out this way for everyone, but I love that Nicole's faith in the promises inherent in the law of tithing was strengthened so early on in her newly minted discipleship. For me, that's the real illustration of God's care in this story, even more than that scholarship. Her Heavenly Father offered her such a powerful experience so soon after her baptism to help her cement one more solid block of a lifelong foundation.  Our final story today comes from Mel whose unexpected encounter with a stranger at a garbage can drove home the Lord's promise to take care of us. Here's Mel.   Mel  25:10   So I walked into the vet and I sat down with my cat and there was a bunch of people waiting in the waiting room. And I remember just thinking, "This cat really needs to live." And I'm not even really a cat person, which is funny. But I knew we had to do whatever we could so she so she could live.  I waited for probably an hour and we finally get called back. At this point, she's just like laying there, like she can't really lift her head. She's not doing anything. So they take her temperature, and she still doesn't do anything. And she's just really sick.  And so the vet came in finally and said, "Well, I have some good news and I have some bad news. We may be able to save her but she's going to need this medication, and she's going to need a lot of it. Two to three-months-worth of this medication ,and they're very expensive medications.  My heart really sank, I don't know that he realized it was such bad news for me. This cat wasn't just a cat. The reason this cat was so important was my two-and-a-half year-old was given this cat by her dad for Christmas before he passed away. Even though this happened almost seven years ago, I remember everything about the day my husband passed away. He told me that he wasn't feeling super great, that he felt like he was getting the flu. And it was late in the afternoon and Olivia was two and a half and I needed to run some errands, which was about 30 minutes into town. And so I asked him if she could stay. And he said, that was fine. He put a movie on and that would be fine. So I gave him a kiss on the cheek and I gave Olivia a kiss and I just walked out the front door and I left and went into town.  When I came back in the house, I had been to the pharmacy, and I'd been to pick up dinner and I had a pizza, and I remember just dropping on the floor. Like the second I saw him, I knew he was in trouble.  My daughter was curled up with him watching a movie and the blue screen was on so it had been over for a while. And she thought he was sleeping, I think, but I could tell there was something very wrong. I called 911 and part of me was so panicked on how to help him. And so I have 911 in one ear telling me I need to get CPR started. And I'm trying to figure out logistically, how can I do this? My husband's much bigger than I am. He's in a recliner, and they're telling me I need to get him on the floor and get CPR started. At the same time, I heard my daughter say, "It's okay, Mom. Like he's okay. He's gone." So she knew, I guess, what had happened and was completely calm and peaceful. She wasn't crying. She wasn't upset. She was just rubbing my hands. They came and tried and tried, and I tried and tried and it just, we just couldn't do it.  At first, I was horrified that she had to be there by herself with him. But then I realized she hadn't been afraid. She just laid with him until I got home.  The night he died, I remember laying with her. And she said, because he had really bad neuropathy in his feet and it was really painful for him to walk, and she says, "So mom, now that he's slept with Heavenly Father, can he walk?" I said, "Yeah," and she goes, "But does it hurt?" And I said, "No." And she said, "Can he run?" And I said, "Yeah, he can run." And she says, "Oh, mom, that's awesome." She was like so happy and I thought, "She at two and a half has such a grasp on what's happening tonight." I always knew that Heavenly Father was there intellectually. And I had times where I felt Him close, but never the way that I felt Him that, like at that time. People would ask me how I was holding up and how I was doing it and I knew I wasn't doing it by myself.  We were living in Arizona and I had driven him to Utah with my girls because that's where we decided to bury him. So we've been gone for two weeks. It was his long drive. I was exhausted physically, mentally. I hadn't had any time alone where I had a chance to think. And it's a really odd feeling, but it's scary. All of these emotions just started hitting. And I walked into my house. And I just looked around, and I thought, "Are you kidding me?" There was throw up everywhere, all over the carpet, all over the furniture. And the second I saw my cat, I knew she was really bad. She's been sick for a long time. I just drove home from burying my husband, and I walked into this, like, are you? Are you kidding me?  So I just scooped her up, turned around, and got straight into the car and went to the vet. And the vet tells me that I've got this medication that she has to have. And I wasn't working and had all of these expenses for my husband's funeral. And I had just found out that morning that his life insurance wasn't going to pay, the one that we'd had for 20 years, because he'd missed some signatures the year before and they were going on his previous election for coverage. I didn't have any money at all. I'd been a stay-at-home mom for the last decade. I was going to have a hard time even justifying taking her in for her appointment. And there was absolutely no way that I could pay for her medications. I just was really not seeing any way out of it at all. There was nothing I could do for her at that point.  So the whole way that I'm driving home, I've got this cat who can't lift her head, in the front seat, and I'm just looking at her thinking, "Okay, how am I gonna tell my kids?" Mainly, I was worried about Olivia, that's my youngest, because it was such a big part of her life, this little cat. It would follow her everywhere, which is funny because she would put perfume on it and she would try to get it dressed and she tried to put makeup on it. And she really, this cat had no reason to like her, but he would sleep on her bed. And that was the first thing she did in the morning and the last one she did at night was to have this little cat. So it's really important to her. This is it. I mean, she just lost her dad. And now I've got to go home and figure out how to tell her, her little friend is gonna die too. Um, she needed this little cat. And I needed this cat to live. So I came home to an empty house. And I walked into the kitchen and I grabbed a bowl of water, a bowl of like hot water and everything I could think of to clean this. So I'm sitting on the stairs and I had this bowl of hot soapy water and a garbage bag and a spatula. And I remember just kind of crawling up on my knees on the stairs. And I just was like scooping in it, I know it's gross, and I'm scooping cat vomit into a bowl and just thinking, "How did, like what is going on? How did I even get here? How am I getting myself out of this?" And I just leaned against the wall and just slipped down onto the stairs and I sat there and I started to cry.  Normally your cat is sick and you think, "Ah, man," but I was devastated. And I had no idea what to do. I had made so many decisions the past two weeks. I had read through every possible scenario about what I needed to do, how I needed to help my family, how I could save my house, what I would do for income where, I should bury my husband. I mean, I have made so many decisions, but at that moment, I couldn't tell you if I wanted a glass of water or a glass of milk without crying, like I just couldn't do it. And I just remember thinking, "I know that I can't physically or mentally figure this out on my own. Like I just need help." And I didn't know what I needed.  I'm glad no one was helping because I just never just crying saying, "Heavenly Father, something has to give. Like if you're here and if you love me and you love my family, like I need some help. Like now." So I sat there for a minute and I felt bad for myself. And I just cried. And I had, I just had one of those like ugly cries where you just cry and cry and cry.  So I had this big bag of garbage and I tied a knot in the top and I grabbed my dark sunglasses and it was garbage day and so I had already rolled the two big bins out to the curb. And I thought, "Well, I don't want to keep this in my kitchen." So I walked out.  I've got this long driveway and I walked out to the street. And I went to lift up the bin, the lid, and I heard someone say, "Excuse me, excuse me." And I thought, "Oh, great, someone's going to see me." I've got these crazy streaky eyes. And you can tell that I've been crying. I've got the nasally sound going on. I'm literally standing over the garbage can with a bag of cat vomit. I've just had this massive meltdown. And I thought, "Oh, gosh, please don't let it be someone I know."  So I turn around and there's this man standing there. And he's in his late 70s and he's, was a neighbor that lived across the street and four doors down. I've never had any interaction with him before. He was just this little, white-haired man.  And I don't know if you know, southern Arizona, but it's hot. And in the summer, you just wave at people, they raise their garage door, they close the garage door, and you don't see them again for weeks. So that's that kind of neighbor. I didn't know his name. I didn't know anything about him. And so I was a little shocked to see him there. And he said, "I had an odd question for you." He said, "I ordered some medications for my dogs. And I ordered them from an online pet pharmacy. And when I opened it, I opened the packaging thinking it was a medication for my dogs, and I realized that it was cat medication. So I called the 800 number and told them, let them know about their mistake. And they said, "No worries, we'll send your dog medication, go ahead and throw that away. You've already opened it, it can't be returned because it's a prescription." And he said, "I don't know if you have a cat. I don't know anyone that does. But if you have a cat, and you, you could use this at all, great. If not, just throw it away or give it away."  And I couldn't even process what he was saying. I knew exactly what he was saying, but I couldn't process it. And all I could get out when he said that was, I just said, "I have a cat. Thank you." And I couldn't, I couldn't even talk. So I walked inside and I just remember sitting back on the stairs that I just been cleaning. I knew without opening the bag, exactly what the medication was. I knew it was the exact dosage that she needed. And I knew that it was at least two-months worth of medication. And I opened the bag. And sure enough, it was exactly what I needed to save this little cat that I had just been stewing about and worried about and praying for. And it was a really odd reaction. I just started to laugh. And I was trying to figure out why I was laughing. And then I realized I wasn't going to have to tell my kids, and especially my youngest, that she was going to lose her cat right after she lost her dad. And it was the hugest weight off of my chest. And I could breathe and I could smile. And I just laughed. I said, "Okay, Heavenly Father, you got me, like you're there. I know you're there. Thank you." It's a weird feeling to explain, but I knew we'd be okay, that we'd figure everything else out. So our little cat is named Lucy, and she is now nine years old. And she still sleeps on my daughter's bed at night. And she curls up right upon, against her face. And she just has this crazy bond with my daughter and she's still around and still just as happy. And my daughter knows the story that her dad gave this cat to her.  And I've heard people say, after death, you have this pipeline, where the veil is very thin. And you're given what you need at the time. But I didn't really understand that until I was in that position.  I can't remember what scripture it is that says that, that God is aware of a bird that falls out of the sky. That, to me, was always so far removed from my life. I didn't ever think of that as literal, you know, like, He does know. And you know what? God has so many people and so many other things going on, but the second like I needed Him the very most, it was cat medicine. And He didn't let me down. And maybe that's what I needed to know is that it didn't matter if it's a cat or if it's losing my husband, like it, like it's, he's aware of whatever I'm struggling with. It doesn't matter if it's in my mind something really big or if it's something menial or just every day, it doesn't matter. He's still there and he's still aware. And I need to not worry so much, like I don't need to be in control of everything. I just, there are times in situations that I just need to resign and say, "Okay, like you've got my back and everything will be okay."   KaRyn  40:09   That was Mel.  Listen, whether you're a cat person or not, I am sure you found yourself cheering, like I did, when the medicine in the bag turned out to be exactly what Lucy needed, which was exactly what Mel and Olivia needed too. Remember how I said that miracles aren't magic? Well, I still stand by that. But that doesn't mean that they can't feel magical. I mean, really, isn't it kind of a miracle every time someone takes care of us in a moment of weakness?  You know, the part of Christ's sermon that I felt I'd been lead to that morning when I listened to 3 Nephi was actually the part of the scripture that tends to get kind of chopped off when we're quoting it. After Christ reminds us that God will clothe us better than the lilies of the field, He ends it with, "If ye are not of little faith." He was speaking these words in the Book of Mormon to his newly chosen 12 apostles who are about to embark in a ministry that would not be for the faint of heart. Those words were meant to propel them forward in their work without wasting precious moments, or brainspace, on the things that you and I worry about everyday: food, shelter, clothing, transportation, safety.  And though I know I'm no apostle, that charge to have big faith so I can see the hand of God in my temporal life, hit me like a ton of bricks that morning. And it reminded me of this story.  A few years ago, my little family was going through a health crisis that took every ounce of spiritual, emotional, and financial resource that we had, there just wasn't enough to go around. And I, I found myself working really hard, and still unable to meet my financial obligations. It was exhausting and heartbreaking and confusing.  For a while, I kind of kept it all to myself believing that if I was just scrappy enough, or if I worked harder, that I could juggle my way out of these problems. And to be honest, I was just embarrassed. I really didn't want to admit that I was in over my head. I mean, what would that say about me if I couldn't provide for myself or my family?  But eventually, with some nudging from my parents, I swallowed my pride, or at least I thought I did, and I went to see the bishop. In his office, I told him that it had come down to me deciding between paying my tithing or paying these medical bills that were piling up. And to be honest, I was thinking that he would just be like, "Here you go. You've been a faithful tithing payer for so long and you've never asked for anything, have some cold, hard cash." But that is not the way the Lord works. The bishop was kind, he was gentle. He told me to keep paying my tithing and to honor that covenant, and that they would start with food assistance to cut that bill down and that the Relief Society president would help me make a food order to the Bishop Storehouse. Of course, I nodded my head and I thanked the bishop. I walked out of his office and immediately decided that I was going nowhere near that Bishop Storehouse.  As a kid, we'd needed assistance a few times, and I totally knew what those cans of tomatoes and peaches, and those bags of Jell-O and orange drink meant. So I did some human math. And I decided that what I would be putting into the quote, unquote, system would be more than what I was getting out of it. And that the best way to meet my current needs would be to put a little mini pause on tithing until I got back on my feet. And so that's what I did. I ignored the bishop. And I ignored that little flutter in my gut that said, "Think again." I leaned into my need to take care of myself the way that I knew how to take care of myself.  While all this was happening, I had a work trip that took me to the East coast where I was lucky enough to spend some time with my mom and my dad. And I know that you'll probably find this really hard to believe, but all it takes is one question from my mom for me to spill all my guts. And she did it. She asked the one question. And the one question was, "How are you holding up?" And when she said that, the whole sordid affair spilled out of my mouth, along with all my justifications for not paying my tithing. And I was adamant that the math didn't add up. I was gonna give the Church money and then get storehouse food in return? It didn't seem fair somehow.  My mom didn't say much. I could tell that she wasn't judging me. But I could also tell that the wheels were spinning in her head. And she just kind of listened to me and she cried with me. And I ended up leaving the conversation just feeling loved, which I appreciated.  The next day, when my parents took me to the airport, my mom slipped an envelope into my carry on bag just as I started walking away towards security. She's always thanking me for coming to her house and eating all her food, so I didn't even think twice about it. And then the buisiness of the airport took over. So it wasn't until I was making my connection in Atlanta that I remembered that there was this card in my bag. So I opened it in an alcove near the Diet Coke machine and I'll never forget it—not because of the money that she had tucked into the envelope, which she had done, but because of what the note inside said. She reminded me that she's seen me do hard things before and that she trusts my relationship with my Heavenly Father. And that even though I am a grown adult with a family of my own, she's my mom. And she still felt an obligation to help me think differently about tithing. The rest of the letter was her testimony of the power and the goodness of God and that reminder that everything we have comes from Him and that He can make miracles happen if we let Him. But most importantly, she wanted to remind me that keeping the covenant of my tithing keeps me worthy to participate in the temple. And while my math might add up in my head, it didn't add up in God's accounting. The most important thing that she wanted me to remember was that the peace of the temple would be more important to me in the complex times that my family was facing. Most importantly, she reminded me that I come from a long line of women who have learned to be creative with food in hard times, and that, and that even Bishop Storehouse food could become desirable with a heart turned to God.  Something shifted in me in that moment. And though I didn't know to call it this at the time, I realized that I had been allowing myself to be powered by little faith for the past few months. And in order to have the power of big faith kick in, I was gonna have to let go of the pride and the fear and the heartache. I would have to stop doing math and start seeking the kingdom of God. And I would have to put in a food order at the Bishop Storehouse. And then, that's when the magic happens. That's when I see that the majestic clothes my Father in Heaven would have me arrayed in—that are more glorious than the robes of King Solomon—might look, to the untrained eye, like a simple, white temple dress.  There was no big temporal miracle for the Lays after I recommitted to my tithing. Circumstances improved enough, and I suspect that they'll always improve just enough. But I keep a can of those peaches, which by the way, are delicious, in my pantry to remind me that God has the power to meet our every need. And sometimes, depending on our unique circumstances, that will look different than we think it should. But it will be exactly what we need. That's it for this episode of "This is the Gospel." All of the stories on this podcast are true and accurate, as affirmed by our storytellers.  Are you as happy to have us back as we are to be back? I mean, honestly, I love putting the show together so much, it really makes every single day just a little bit better. And if it's the same for you, tell us all about it. Leaving a review on Apple or Stitcher or wherever you listen helps other people discover this podcast more easily. I read every review, and I sincerely feel all the feels to learn the ways that these stories are blessing your lives. Thank you for listening, and thank you for being a part of it.  And, of course, if you have a story to share about living the gospel of Jesus Christ, please call our pitch line and leave us a pitch. A great pitch will be less than three minutes and it's going to tell us all the basic storyline of your experience and show off your skill as a storyteller. We encourage you to leave the written story at the door and just tell us what happened. We often find many of our stories from the pitch line. That's how we found Nicole's story, and we love to hear how the gospel has blessed your life. Call 515-519-6179 and leave us a message.  This episode was produced by me, KaRyn Lay, with additional story production by Erika Free. We first heard Mel's story on the "Sunday on Monday" study group podcast, which is available on Desert Bookshelf PLUS+. This episode was scored, mixed and mastered by Mix at 6 Studios and our executive producer is Erin Hallstrom.  You can find past episodes of this podcasts, we have 55 of them now, and all the other LDS Living podcasts at ldsliving.com/podcasts. Have a great week.     Show Notes + Transcripts: http://ldsliving.com/thisisthegospel See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jesus' Life & Resurrection ---rahardin.com , Bio, 5 books, Videos, Radio(Pods)****You can also listen to my programs on Itunes.Weekly: M-F, 7-8 AM; Sat - Sun, 6-8AM (CST) Email: gpwf@yahoo.com****Richard Hardin, POBox 45684, OKC, OK 73145.****All errors being taught about Jesus, or any of God's Word, or character are instigated, inspired, encouraged and assisted by the devil. The devil hates Jesus for who He is, and 'What Jesus has done for us in making the forgiveness of our sin so available to everyone, and along with the forgiveness that we also become new creatures as we are engrafted, or born into the family of God as His children. We are born on this Earth as creatures without any of God's Spirit in us, only a physical body and soul (mind and emotions.) When we receive the Spirit of Christ into our hearts, we become a triune being: (1)Physical (body), (2)soul (mind and emotions), and (3)(Spiritual) Spirit of Christ in our hearts. Romans 8:9 states, "...now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His." We become a child of God when we are "Born Again" of the Spirit of Christ as stated in Galatians 4:6-7, "And because ye are sons (of God), God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba (daddy), Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."****There are so many errors being taught about Jesus, but I will share mainly an overview of Jesus' life here on earth which I hope will give you insight to His life and purpose.****I will also show that the concept of calvinism (Reformed Theology), that teaches people are predestined or elected by God prior to their birth to either be born to live and go to heaven or die and go to hell is total error which is a lie of the devil. If everyone was predestined to heaven and hell before our birth, then there would have been no need for Jesus' walk of faith, and dying the terrible suffering death on the cross. Calvinism(Reformed Theology) is from the devil and so stupid. -on @KLRNRadio.com CST Sun #GPWF #Christian or anytime at rahardin.com, Podcasts.
