Encore: a repeated performance. As we approach the end of 2025, we decided to do an encore of eight episodes from the past six years. With a new intro for each episode recorded by Eric Ludy and Nathan Johnson, we hope these encores will stir your soul toward Jesus and introduce you to previous series that you can explore. Going After More (Leslie Ludy)Originally recorded in 2023 as a part of her series Victorious Living, Leslie explores what it means to remove our “safety cones” of self-protection and self-justification, and pour out everything for the glory of our King. We often hesitate to make ourselves fully available to God, but we must never forget that whatever safety cones He asks us to remove, it is always safe to place our dreams, our futures and our lives entirely in the nail-scarred hands of the One who died to save us.Explore and watch/listen to the series Victorious LivingGet the audiobook version of this series with the notes ------------Exciting SpecialsEric and Leslie's A Trip Down Memory LaneSign up for Ellerslie's Weeklong or Classic 5-Week Training before December 31 to get last year's pricing (pricing increases January 1)Get the Daily Thunder Live Teaching Series (as an audiobook with notes) for a discounted price for a limited time------------» Take these studies deeper and be discipled in person by Eric, Nathan, Leslie, and the team at Ellerslie in one of our upcoming discipleship programs – learn more at: https://ellerslie.com/be-discipled/» Receive our free “Five Keys to Walking Through Difficulty” PDF by going to: https://ellerslie.com/subscribe/» For more information about Daily Thunder and the ministry of Ellerslie Mission Society, please visit: https://ellerslie.com/daily» If you have been blessed by Ellerslie, consider partnering with the ministry by donating at: https://ellerslie.com/donate/

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! In today's episode, Hunter invites us to gather on this 15th day of December for day 349 in our journey through the Bible. Together, we explore the heart of God as revealed in the book of James, discovering how God's light and steadfast love guide us through life's troubles and joys. Hunter encourages us to look deeply into scripture—through the lens of Jesus—reminding us of our identity as God's prized possessions, never forgotten or forsaken. Throughout this episode, we reflect on practical faith, genuine love, and the power of prayer, soaking in wisdom for everyday living. Whether enduring trials or seeking peace, Hunter assures us that God's grace is abundant and His presence is near. After reading and contemplating the Word, we move into a spirit-filled time of prayer, lifting up ourselves, our families, and the world. Gratitude echoes for the community that makes this ministry possible, and listeners are invited to partner in spreading hope and encouragement. As the episode closes, you'll be reminded of one life-changing truth: you are deeply loved. Join us as we listen, pray, and walk forward in God's joy together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Wanderers brought back. This is a story of grace—one that is written over every human life. All of us have wandered, just like sheep, each one straying off on our own path. But the Good Shepherd does not leave us lost; he pursues us. God was not content with the ninety-nine—he sought after the one, every wandering soul. That is the good news: God's actions, his love, reach for the whole world. Behold the Lamb of God, slain for the sins of all—the enormity of this gospel is that it is for everyone, without exception. Sometimes this news seems so good it almost defies belief, and James knows this. He warns us not to forget who we truly are; not to look into the mirror of God's word and then forget our reflection when we turn away. In Christ, God chose to give birth to us, making us his prized possession, his beloved children. But it is easy to forget—especially when the truth seems too good. We fall back into the old lie: that God is distant, disapproving, far off. James wants to remind us how loved, how valued, how seen we are. God offered himself for us, count us among his treasured flock. This love is for all people and it's so immense we might struggle to take it in. Yet this, James says, is the truth: you are the beloved of God. Look deeply, look Christologically, at the word of God—see all scripture through Jesus, for he reveals both the Father's heart and our true identity. Invite the Holy Spirit to help you see it. The reality is better than you've imagined: you are loved, pursued, made new in Christ. My prayer for myself, for my family, and for you is that after seeing who you are in the mirror of God's word, you will not forget, but reflect that love in this world—in your relationships, in your home, everywhere God leads you. May we not be wanderers any longer, but living witnesses to the grace that has found us, restored us, and made us whole. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL  b.

God invites us into this intimacy. He calls for us to be close to Him. This is what differentiates Christianity from any other religion in the world. God is not cold and distant. He welcomes closeness with himself. He calls and invites us to seek Him and pursue Him.Main Points:1. Can you hear His voice? In your loneliness, in your anxiety, in your frustration, and in your desperation, God is calling you to come to Him. I pray that you will respond like David and say, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”2. There are so many today who have lots of Bible knowledge. Maybe they were raised attending church. They know the Word of God and can quote many scriptures, but they are empty spiritually because they have no relationship with God.3. God wants to be known. He makes himself available to us. He rewards our seeking with His presence. Your relationship with God can be rich and full. It can be powerful and inspiring; it just requires us to seek Him.Today's Scripture Verses:Psalm 27:8 - “When you said, ‘Seek My face,' My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”James 4:8 - “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”Psalm 119:37 - “Turn my eyes away from worthless things.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

In this episode of the Westminster Podcast, Brandon McLean Smith speaks with Jordan Bush, executive director of Thank God for Bitcoin and they explore the practical and theological implications of Bitcoin as a tool for missions and ministries in places cut off from traditional banking, how it can protect individuals and organizations from financial censorship, and the dangers posed by central bank digital currencies. Jordan ties monetary questions to a broader Reformed framework—invoking “sowing and reaping,” the kingdom's economics, and the need for Christian economists—while offering concrete steps churches can take (accepting crypto donations, educating congregations, building endowments) to steward resources responsibly in an unstable monetary age. If you enjoyed this conversation and were inspired by it to consider ways to utilize Bitcoin and other Crypto currencies to support the work of the Gospel I am glad to announce that Westminster now accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most major coins and tokens. "Of all the books in the OT, Isaiah is perhaps the richest. Its literary grandeur is unequaled. Its scope is unparalleled. The breadth of its view of God is unmatched. In so many ways it is a book of superlatives. Thus, it is no wonder that Isaiah is the most quoted prophet in the NT, and along with Psalms and Deuteronomy, one of the most frequently cited of all OT books. Study of it is an opportunity for unending inspiration and challenge…it comes to us as a word from God, a revelation of the inevitable conflict between divine glory and human pride, of self-destruction which that pride must bring, and of the grace of God in restoring that destroyed humanity to himself. To read the book with the open eyes of the spirit is to see oneself, at times all too clearly, but also to see God whose holiness is made irresistible by his love." - Dr. John Oswalt from his two-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah. Dr. John Oswalt is our very special guest this week and next on Apologetics Profile. He will be taking us through some of the highlights of this magisterial theological work. His insights will better equip you to give a defense to non-believers who doubt the history and authorship of Isaiah. Dr. John Oswalt Asbury served on the faculty of Asbury Theological seminary from 1970 to 1982 as professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages, and again from 1989 to 1999 as Professor of Old Testament. He rejoined Asbury in 2009 as visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament studies. He has also served as research professor of Old Testament at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Miss., from 1999 to 2009, was president of Asbury College from 1983 to 1986, a member of the faculty of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., from 1986 to 1989, and  Interim President of Wesley Biblical Seminary, Ridgeland, MS from April 2019 through March 2020.He is the author of 16 books, most notable of which is the two-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah in the New International Commentary of the Old Testament. His most recent book is The Holy One of Israel: Studies in the Book of Isaiah, released in 2014. He has also written numerous articles that have appeared in Bible encyclopedias, scholarly journals and popular religious periodicals. Dr. Oswalt is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, with membership in the Kentucky Annual Conference. He has served as a part-time pastor in congregations in New England and Kentucky, and is a frequent speaker in conferences, camps and local churches. Oswalt received a B.A. from Taylor University; a B.D. and Th.M. from Asbury Seminary; and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Brandeis University. The Bible Among the Myths Isaiah CommentaryResources from Watchman Fellowship Watchman Fellowship 4-page Profile on Bart Ehrman by Dr. Rhyne Putman: www.watchman.org/Ehrman FREE: We are also offering a subscription to our 4-page bimonthly Profiles here: www.watchman.org/Free.The complete Profile Notebook (Digital Edition, PDF, over 600-pages): www.watchman.org/DigitalNotebookSUPPORT: Help us create more content like this. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is Judges 17:3-4: "And he restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother. And his mother said, 'I dedicate the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a metal image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.' So when he restored the money to his mother, his mother took 200 pieces of silver and gave it to the silversmith, who made it into a carved image and a metal image. And it was in the house of Micah." — Judges 17:3-4 Micah's mother meant well—but meaning well doesn't make something right. She takes stolen silver, dedicates it "to the Lord," and then uses it to fund an idol. It's one of the strangest contradictions in Scripture: a mom trying to honor God by disobeying Him. But this is where sentimental faith always leads. Yesterday, she blessed what God condemned. Today, she's building what God forbade. When we refuse to confront sin, it doesn't just sit quietly—it grows bold. You can almost hear her logic: "I'm doing this for God. It's my way of worship." But the moment we start serving God our way, we stop serving Him His way. Micah's mother didn't reject the Lord; she redefined Him. She wanted God's presence and blessing without God's authority. And that's the same deception shaping modern faith. We've learned to baptize disobedience in religious language. Parents fund their kids' sinful choices and call it love. Churches adopt the world's ideologies and call it outreach. Politicians quote Bible verses while endorsing laws that mock God's design. It's all the same move—blessing what God condemns and calling it righteousness. But God is not impressed by sincerity when it's married to sin. Good intentions don't turn rebellion into righteousness. When we fund what He forbids, we don't build faith—we build idols. We see it in the culture of "progressive Christianity." We want inclusion without repentance, affirmation without transformation, and spirituality without submission. We think God should evolve with our culture, when in truth, we are the ones called to conform to His holiness. The tragedy of Micah's home is that it looked religious but lived rebellious. It had silver crosses and carved idols, blessings and blasphemy side by side. And that's what happens when love loses its spine—sentimentality becomes sin, and truth is replaced by tolerance. ASK THIS: Where are you tempted to justify sin with "good intentions"? How does your home reflect what you really believe about God's boundaries? Have you ever supported something "for love's sake" that you knew dishonored God? What would it look like to love your family with conviction instead of compromise? DO THIS: Ask God to reveal one area where you've been "blessing" what He condemns. Repent by naming it for what it is—not "progress," not "love," but sin. Have one honest conversation this week with someone who needs truth spoken in love. PRAY THIS: Lord, forgive me for blessing what You've already called sin. Give me courage to love with conviction, to call truth what You call truth, and to stop confusing kindness with compromise. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Holy (Song of the Ages)."

New Hope Daily SOAP - Daily Devotional Bible Reading

Daily Dose of Hope December 15, 2025   Scripture - Acts 17   Prayer:  Holy God, Almighty Father, the Great I AM, throughout all time, you are good.  Your ways are perfect.  Teach us your ways, Lord.  Help us to know you better, to know you more.  Lord, on our own, we are powerless.  We are desperate for your wisdom, love, and mercy.  More of you and less of me, Jesus.  Amen.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church Bible reading plan.  We have now walked through the Gospels and we are in the second half of the book of Acts.  Today, we will discuss Acts 17.   In this chapter, Paul preaches in Thessalonica, Berea, and Athens.  At each place, he tailors his message to his audience but it's still clearly the Gospel.  The reception he receives at each location is different too.  In Thessalonica and Berea, he starts at the synagogue, which has been his pattern.  He preaches the Gospel to the Jews first.  Some Jews believe in Jesus, as did a number of prominent Greek men and women.  But things turn south pretty quickly.  A number of Jews in Thessalonica are jealous at Paul's success and they raise up a mob to stop him.  They actually go to home in which they are staying and drag out Jason and other believers, arresting them and forcing them to post bond.  Paul and Silas were being helped by other believers, who were aiding their travel to Berea.   In Berea, they were accepted warming at first.  People believe.  But the troublemakers from Thessalonica find out that Paul and Silas are there and they try to get hold of them there.  But Paul and Silas are helped once again by believers who help them get to the coast.   In Athens, things are different still.  The philosophers are interested in what Paul has to say and he shares the Gospel and there are varied reactions – belief, sneering, and wanting more information.  But they aren't beaten up or thrown in jail, so that is quite a relief.   In each city, as different as they are, there are some people who take to the Gospel message right away and others who have more questions.  I think this is such a great model for us.  We share as God leads us and we tailor the message to those who are listening.  If we are telling the Jesus story to Jews, then we will focus on the Old Testament and the various prophecies about Jesus.  If we are telling the Jesus story to Gentiles, then the story will be spoken in a way that makes sense to them.  Paul appealed to what they knew – think about his use of the altar to an unknown God in Athens.    In our world, I present the Gospel to someone who grew up in the church differently than I do to someone who has never heard of Jesus.  I guess the theme here is know your audience and listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.   Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Text: John 1:1–181 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. 9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.'”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known. INTRODUCTION: A "JESUS" Series Knowing Christ CHRIST BEFORE CHRISTMAS (vv. 1-3)             John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”           Jesus is the CREATOR           Colossians 1:15-17 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. CHRIST WITH US (vv.14-17)                 John 1:14  14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.  CHRIST REVEALS GOD (v. 18)              John 1:18“No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, He has made Him known.”Application: What does it mean to me?           Christ is the Creator — Worship Him            Christ is the Savior — Receive Him             Christ is God — Trust HimConclusion

Mark 4:35–41; Mark 5:1–2035 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don't you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” 5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God's name don't torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” 9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. 14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. 18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed. INTRODUCTION: A "JESUS" Series JESUS HAS POWER OVER NATURE (Mark 4:35–41)JESUS HAS POWER OVER DARKNESS (Mark 5:1–20) JESUS HAS THE POWER TO REDEEM AND SEND (Mark 5:18–20) Conclusion

In our 3rd week of Advent this year, Luke Parker poses a profound question: why do we settle for two-dimensional lives when we were created for so much more? Using the powerful image of a deflated basketball—still recognizable but unable to fulfill its purpose—we're invited to examine our own lives. The basketball was made to bounce, to play the game, yet something has gone terribly wrong. Similarly, we bear the image of God, yet we find ourselves unable to live the full, vibrant lives we were designed for. The passage from John 1:10-13 reveals a startling scandal: the Light of the world came into the darkness, yet people preferred to keep their eyes shut. Both the religious and the irreligious rejected Jesus—the religious because His effortless goodness exposed their rule-keeping as hollow, and the irreligious because He insisted there actually is a purpose and goal to life. The heart of the gospel emerges beautifully here: we cannot fix ourselves. We cannot climb a ladder back to Eden through our own efforts, whether through religion, philosophy, success, or pleasure. Instead, God does something unprecedented—He comes down to us. The invitation isn't to try harder but to receive the gift of new life, to be born again as children of God. This isn't about our descent, our desire, or our dominance—it's about God's grace. When we receive Christ, we're given the authority to become something we could never achieve on our own: sons and daughters of the living God, transformed so completely that we become unrecognizable, fully alive in ways that only Jesus makes possible.

"One day David asked, “Is anyone in Saul's family still alive—anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?” 2 He summoned a man named Ziba, who had been one of Saul's servants. “Are you Ziba?” the king asked. “Yes sir, I am,” Ziba replied. The king then asked him, “Is anyone still alive from Saul's family? If so, I want to show God's kindness to them.” Ziba replied, “Yes, one of Jonathan's sons is still alive. He is crippled in both feet.” “Where is he?” the king asked. “In Lo-debar,” Ziba told him, “at the home of Makir son of Ammiel.” So David sent for him and brought him from Makir's home. His name was Mephibosheth; he was Jonathan's son and Saul's grandson. When he came to David, he bowed low to the ground in deep respect. David said, “Greetings, Mephibosheth.” Mephibosheth replied, “I am your servant.” “Don't be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king's table!” Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, “Who is your servant, that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me?” Then the king summoned Saul's servant Ziba and said, “I have given your master's grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. You and your sons and servants are to farm the land for him to produce food for your master's household. But Mephibosheth, your master's grandson, will eat here at my table.” (Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.) Ziba replied, “Yes, my lord the king; I am your servant, and I will do all that you have commanded.” And from that time on, Mephibosheth ate regularly at David's table, like one of the king's own sons." - 2 Samuel 9:1-11 NLTRestore Church | Yorkville, ILSunday Mornings | 10 AMJordan & Melissa Gash, Pastorshttps://www.restorechurchyorkville.com

The sermon delivers a sobering warning about the dangers of both no faith and little faith, illustrating how spiritual blindness and neglect of God's revealed truth lead to severe consequences. Drawing from Matthew 16:1–12, it contrasts the Pharisees and Sadducees—religious leaders with no faith who reject Christ despite overwhelming signs—with the disciples, who, despite being believers, exhibit little faith by misinterpreting Jesus' warning about 'leaven' as a concern about bread rather than the corrupting influence of religious hypocrisy. The central message is that faith is not optional but essential for discernment, and a lack of faith—whether in unbelief or spiritual complacency—results in blindness to God's work, hardened hearts, and vulnerability to deception. The remedy is intentional, daily engagement with Scripture, meditation on Christ's redemptive work, and communal discipleship, which cultivate a faith strong enough to resist the leaven of worldly and religious compromise and to stand firm in the face of opposition.

What if it's a bridge? Continuing our series "Connected," this message from Luke 1 takes a look at the story of Zechariah—a faithful man who still wrestled with uncertainty—and we discover how God meets us not after our doubts are resolved, but right in the middle of them. This teaching explores why certainty is elusive for all of us, how faith actually grows through seasons of silence, and what it looks like to bring honest questions to God without fear or shame. Whether you're confident in your faith, quietly questioning, or somewhere in between, this message offers a hopeful and grounded invitation: your doubts don't disqualify you—they may be the very place God wants to meet you.

This sermon explores the deep longing for God's presence and the obstacles that obscure it. While we often associate God's presence with emotional experiences—tears or goosebumps—He is a constant reality. "Emmanuel" (God with us) is not merely a seasonal Christmas theme; it is the entire storyline of the Bible, from the Garden of Eden to the New Creation. God's relentless pursuit is defined by the promise: "I will be your God, you will be my people, and I will dwell in your midst." However, significant barriers often keep us from experiencing the face of God.Scripture ReferencesGenesis 3:1-13: The Fall, introducing disobedience and hiding.Psalm 51: David's plea not to be cast from God's presence.Isaiah 6:1-5: The confrontation between human sin and God's holiness.Luke 2:41-52: Jesus' parents losing Him by assuming He was in the crowd.Key PointsThe Narrative of Presence The Bible is bookended by God dwelling with man. It begins in Eden, moves through the Tabernacle and Temple, finds its fulfillment in Jesus, continues in the Church through the Holy Spirit, and culminates in the New Creation where no temple is needed.Seven Barriers to IntimacyDisobedience: Sin naturally creates distance.Hiding & Shame: Guilt says "I did something bad"; shame says "I am bad," causing us to hide from God.Lies: The enemy deceives us about God's character and the severity of sin.Holiness: God's unapproachable light exposes our darkness (Isaiah 6).Unforgiveness: Jesus teaches that holding grudges hinders our prayers.Busyness: Prosperity often leads us to forget the God who blessed us.Presumption: Like Mary and Joseph, we can travel days assuming Jesus is with us in the "religious crowd" without actually consulting Him.ConclusionDuring the holidays, we celebrate God being with us, but the pressing question is: Are we with Him? It is dangerous to assume His presence while living distracted, disobedient, or unforgiving lives. Jesus came to remove every barrier—sin, shame, and separation—so that we could once again walk face-to-face with God.Calls to ActionStop Hiding: Come out of isolation. Confess your sin and let God cover your shame.Check Your Assumptions: Don't assume God is with you just because you are at church. Actively seek His face daily.Release Unforgiveness: Let go of grudges that block your experience of God's nearness. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. Yesterday we stepped into one of the most unlikely Christmas passages—2 Corinthians 6. At first glance, beatings, sleepless nights, and hunger don't feel like they belong anywhere near Christmas. But when we look at Jesus' actual birth story—born out of wedlock, far from home, in a borrowed stable, fleeing as a refugee—we realize this is the world he willingly entered. And it's the world we still live in. Christmas isn't the promise of a perfect life; it's the announcement that God stepped into a broken one. Paul describes the tension of following Jesus as “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing.” That's Christmas. Real life, real pain, real joy, real hope. Jesus doesn't wait for your life to look ideal. He comes into the life you really have. And he gives you a joy that circumstances can't create or take away. This week, fix your eyes on what is unseen—on him.

Ephesians  1:3-6 How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. 7-10 Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we're a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.11-12 It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.13-14 It's in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This down payment from God is the first installment on what's coming, a reminder that we'll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.Ephesians 2:1-6 message  It wasn't so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn't know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It's a wonder God didn't lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us.(adopted us) He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.Psalm 106:1 Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.Galatians 3:26-29New Life Version26 You are now children of God because you have put your trust in Christ Jesus. 27 All of you who have been baptized to show you belong to Christ have become like Christ. 28 God does not see you as a Jew or as a Greek. He does not see you as a servant or as a person free to work. He does not see you as a man or as a woman. You are all one in Christ. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you have become the true children of Abraham. What God promised to him is now yours.

In this Christmas message, Rev. Nicole Unice invites us into a deeper reflection on what it truly means to honor God's Son when life feels heavy, expectations go unmet, or the season doesn't match the sparkle around us. Drawing from Matthew 2 and the story of the wise men and King Herod, she explores how the arrival of Jesus reveals two very different responses to power: one rooted in control, fear, and self-protection, and the other marked by humility, curiosity, and worship. Through story, Scripture, and gentle humor, we're invited to notice the “little Herod” in all of us—the part that grasps for security, approval, or control—and to consider how Jesus comes as the quiet, vulnerable alternative to worldly power. Nicole helps us see how God uses creation to awaken longing, Scripture to bring clarity, and Christ to invite adoration, not coercion. This message invites us to reflect on where we seek safety and meaning, and to discover how honoring Jesus is less about striving and more about receiving—choosing love over power, adoration over possession, and trust over control. In the midst of grief, uncertainty, or unanswered questions, we're reminded that the simple act of worship reshapes our hearts and aligns us with the mind of Christ. May we be a people who carry the torch forward with courage, humility, and generational faithfulness.

Pastor Trop preaches that every person will eventually face hard, life-stopping news that shakes their faith. He explains that the Christmas story doesn't begin with comfort, but with Joseph receiving heartbreaking news that Mary is pregnant—and the child is not his. Matthew 1:18-25 shows how this moment fulfils God's plan, revealing that the child conceived in Mary is from the Holy Spirit and is the promised Immanuel, “God with us.” Joseph's response reveals a righteous heart as he chooses mercy over shame, even while hurting. God speaks to him in a dream, confirming the miraculous conception and commanding him to name the child Jesus, who will save His people from their sins. Joseph immediately obeys, embracing the cultural cost, protecting Mary's purity, and taking Jesus as his legal son. Pastor Trop emphasizes that adversity exposes what's in our hearts, but it is never an excuse for disobedience. Ultimately, Joseph's quiet obedience becomes a model of godly character, reminding us that Christ's birth turns even our hardest news into hope.

When we think of Christmas, we often think of a moment in history—Jesus born in a manger. But Christmas is more than an event; it is a reality meant to be lived every day. God's greatest gift to the world is not just that Christ came to us, but that He now lives in us. You don't have to be perfect, powerful, or impressive. You only have to be available. God shines through surrendered lives.

This sermon presents a 12-day devotional reflection centered on the incarnation of Jesus Christ, inviting believers to meditate daily on the profound significance of His coming. At its heart, the message emphasizes that Christ's incarnation was not merely a historical event but a divine act of love, revealing God's depth of commitment to humanity through His perfect union of divine and human natures. The preacher highlights key theological truths—Christ's fulfillment of prophecy, His sinless obedience, His embodiment of divine love, His conquest of sin and death, and the establishment of a new covenant—each underscoring how His life, death, and resurrection made salvation possible. Through these reflections, the sermon calls the church to a posture of continual gratitude, not only during the Christmas season but every day, recognizing Jesus as the ultimate gift who bridges the gap between God and humanity, dwells within believers through the Holy Spirit, and secures eternal life. The tone is deeply pastoral and reverent, inviting personal reflection and worship in response to God's inexpressible grace.
