Send us a textIf you prefer your podcasts to jump around a bit, this one's for you. We advanced the theory that comedians benefit from being overweight or slightly un-handsome. We got confused about how to pronounce a British singer's name. We called out David's (once) good friend from the humor industry, Andrew Stanley, for being a botoxer. And after hearing about David's latest adventures with his aging dad, we may have agreed to lie about Pappy's birthday is OK. Be careful. This episode may border on being helpful to listeners in tough times.

My guest this week is Andrew Stanley. If his name sounds familiar, it's just might be. His dad is Andy Stanley (you can listen to Andy on the podcast here), and his grandfather is Charles Stanley, both well known pastors. And Andrew's carrying on the torch of on-stage communication in a different way as a stand up comedian.I had a chance to sit down with Andy to hear more about how he got into stand up and nerd out about the ins and outs of being a comedian. Andy also shares his tips for how you can find the funny in your own life.

With the world looking increasingly dark, stand-up comedian Andrew Stanley is risking it all on laughter. What began as 5 minutes at an open mic has blossomed into a career built on an aggressive move: leaving his stable office job behind to tell jokes. He's an inspiring, and hilarious, young man with insights on risk, the power of humor and how you can learn to be funnier.
Why did you look at me with affection? No adjectives. Don't go to dinner with your family. Mission trip sorority girl selfies. Jonathan seeks. A cemetery for elephants. I've never been like, “I should work here.” What's cocaine, mommy? A new chunk on the devil. Miller Lite christening. Maketh or goeth? Tar(r)a and the FBI. King James is sneaky. The best day of Tara's life. Plus, Tara cuts Jonathan off hard when all he was trying to do was say that he had been to Andrew's grandfather's church a few times.
Andrew Stanley (American Version) is a standup comedian who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. I enjoyed hearing his story of how he left the corporate world with a cushy desk job to pursue his passion of making people laugh for money. After meeting Andrew, I can tell you that he was extremely generous and kind towards me. I hope to meet more people like him in my lifetime.

Summary: In today's episodes of The Tragedy Academy, Jay invites the host of the podcast I Am Just Gaying, Hernando Del Castillo. Hernando brings us along to his journey of reflection, awareness, and metamorphosis. We learn of the societal pressure he experienced as a gay Columbian man and the hurdles he jumped through to become his whole authentic self finally.Key Points:
Today, on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our theme week: "Watch Your Mouth". We discussed the power of our words to either encourage or discourage others. The scripture reference was Proverbs 18:20-21. Words can turn a person from a path of death to a path of life. Think of the words spoken into your life. What is your story? Be challenged to speak words of affirmation to someone today. We talked with Jim Scudder Jr., senior pastor of Quentin Road Baptist Church in Lake Zurich and host of InGrace Radio which is heard Sunday evenings at 7pm on Moody Radio Chicago. InGrace is airing a powerful 2-part special about 9-11 on September 5th and 12th. Also, this week, we are giving away tickets to see comedian Andrew Stanley for "A Night of Comedy", Saturday, September 18th in Carol Stream. The event is a fundraiser for Philemon House Ministries. Finally, take a listen to the Karl and Crew Showcast to hear some of the best moments from today. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The night was stormy at FC2.0's operational HQ. You'd think among the Amish, who work religiously to stay off the power grid, an electrical outage would be no big deal. So…because that's what you'd think…it was no big deal. We broadcast from a parking lot where some wayward Amish avoided landline hookups but hosted a nice cell signal. It's a good thing we overcame these annoyances, because two professional comedians - our beloved David and his ultra-talented buddy, Andrew Stanley - swapped insider stories that were hilarious. Unless you're an organ donor. Enjoy!!

OPEC, primarily Saudi Arabia, has found blame for the recent price collapse, with calls from the US Congress for tariffs, import bans and sanctions. To start this week's Capitol Crude, Senator Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, talks about his views on how the Saudis are trying to crater prices and destroy the US shale industry. But how much can OPEC really do to stem the recent oil price collapse? Why was OPEC's role as a swing producer unable to offset the demand impacts of the spread of the coronavirus? Is there anything OPEC can do to stabilize the market? On this week's episode, Andrew Stanley an oil market analyst at The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center or KAPSARC, a global think tank in Riyadh, and Kaushik Deb, the acting Director of the Markets and Industrial Development program also at KAPSARC, discuss OPEC's function in today's world oil market.

Andrew Stanley graduated from college with a finance degree. He always thought he was funny but didn’t know how to explore writing comedy. A mutual friend introduced Andrew to Scott Dunn, who writes for a lot of great comedians (Listen to Scott’s Episode of the podcast here). Scott recommended Andrew write five minutes of jokes, and then go do them at the local comedy club open mic. Andrew hesitated at first because of a fear of speaking in public. His father and grandfather are well known and respected pastors. Yet, he didn’t see himself as someone who would stand in front of strangers and talk for a living. But he mustered up a few jokes and attended an open mic at the Laughing Skull in Atlanta. With 20 comedians doing five minutes each, he remembers leaving there thinking he wasn’t the best, but wasn’t the worst. He decided to keep at it. Lucky for us he did. We cover a lot of ground on the podcast, including: How his father Andy Stanley influenced my podcast How the School of Laughs podcast influenced Andrew's early days How Lace Larabee encouraged him to pursue comedy Inviting friends out to see you perform Transitioning out of work and into Stand-Up Comedy Who was the last one to decide he should go into comedy full time Balancing church and comedy club events Being dark in the light place and light in the dark place Early successes that have led to more work The Catalyst Conference The blessings of family The benefits of clean comedy Confusing family-friendly with clean comedy Venn diagram of what works in comedy environments Building material that works in all places Starting with a punchline and building the joke from there The necessity of stage time Exploring writing processes Learning when and how to say “no” to wrong opportunities AND A WHOLE LOT MORE! Together, we discuss: -Being silly and funny vs. being a comic & why she doesn't want to be seen as silly -Why comedy is tricky and what she wants her jokes to say to the audience -The process of beginning and what her first experience was like -Why comedy is an unconventional ministry for her -How it took booking her first gig to finally write her first bit -The stress of telling jokes to strangers -How to deal with haters and to not be discouraged by people who just don't get it (clarifying her audience) -Why it's harder to tell "clean" jokes -Believing in yourself when you aren't getting external validation -Comedic timing explained -Being a female comic in a "boys club" -Shout out to Andrew Stanley who helped her get her start -What it's like to fight for spots -Navigating this interesting culture -The pushback she's received when people aren't used to "bold women" -Why she gives herself full permission always. -Why worrying about others is crippling -Why you need to know who you are before you do anything scary -The vulnerability and bravery it takes to tell a joke again, even after it bombs -Why she strives to talk about women in a way that challenges thinking but doesn't isolate the men or lose an entire group of people -Why she likes Jim Gaffigan & Angelina Johnson -Why clean comics have to work harder -Her personal responsibility to not trigger people and to free people up to walk away lighter -How she shares freedom with people through comedy and encourages her fellow comics -How she strives to tell the truth without any fear! -Determination to keep going and why you should give yourself permission, always "I have nothing to prove and no one to fear here." ----- Connect with Haylie through Email at haylie.montgomery1@gmail.com or on Instagram! for many U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The U.S. currently gets 45% of its crude oil from Canada, about 1 ½ times more than from all of the OPEC countries combined. Andrew Stanley is an Irish stand up who has appeared at numerous festivals worldwide including The Cat Laughs in Kilkenny, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Sydneys Cracker Comedy Festival with hour long shows. These included a show with Australian comic, Damian Clark, called I Dare Ya, which went on to become a hit TV show on Irish station RTÉ 2. He also took part in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow in 2009 and the New Zealand Comedy Festival in Auckland in 2010. He was invited to the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal where he performed alongside Ardal O'Hanlon, Colm O'Regan and Neil Delamere as part of the O'Comics show. A few years ago I toured The States with Andrew taking in KC, LA, NY, SF, C and B ( you can guess where the last two are and it's not Cincinatti and Buffalo). Where ever we went he developed an immediate rapport with the audience and blew them away with his improvisational crowd work. We chat about his technique and how the scene has changed since our different times starting out in comedy.

Dublin born and bred comedian Andrew Stanley was initially a computer programmer (which explains his hyperactive & hyper-analytical approach towards comedy.) With the ability to perform unscripted stand-up comedy, Andrew creates an entire show out of audience interaction. He always ensures the audience leaves in hysterics, laughing about his perceptions on their lives. We had a chat with Andrew during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival about the life of a comedian.
Lindsay is Joined by formidable Irish Comedian Andrew Stanley. After working at the Perth Fringe, Adelaide Fringe & Melbourne International Comedy Festival #MICF, Lindsay was able to get Andrew to sit still for 65 min and record a fun chat. Lots of topics covered and lots of fun moments as we find out all the things that Andrew has done and where that has taken him. What does his name mean? You will have to crack into the ep to find out. Enjoy and if you do please rate and review on iTunes. Cheers, #WYNWDYD
Andrew Stanley is back opposite Muggins in the Cream seat after being thrown under the preverbial bus by Muggins and Abandosam with his actions last week kissing people willy nilly. The hilarity descends into a high brow book review and climbs back out with some horrendous 2 girls 1 cup chat. And the rest is kisstory.
Muggins plays host to special guest and one half of freestyle hiphop phenomenon Abandoman, Mr Sam "Abandosam" Wilson. The charming blighter gets straight into the spirit of the podcast with sotries, tangents, funnies and all round good vibrations. Oh. They also throw Andrew Stanley (our previous co-pilot) under the bus for his 'anakisstic' actions on Wednesday night.
Geordie Muggins has accidentilly sunburned himself into sunderland colours to the joy of guest Andrew Stanley. Recorded in Adelaide they discuss upsetting Cream from across the globe and accidentally wrecking hippies.
Andrew Stanley plays the resident Cream yet again joining Muggins once more and pouring his irish fuel on the flames of banta. They talk full moons, muggles, Kai's exceptional phisique and respect for elders. Cuddle up to the nearst stranger and take an ear-bud each.
In Perth again with Andrew Stanley as he shares some of Muggins' lapses in concentration after his (potentially fake) gym sessions, he also loves kissing. Muggle corner is directed from accross the shores via twitter from long time listner, first time caller and dear friend Matty The B1g M4n.
The first time Muggins has lead the podcast without Cream (after several failed attempts) he is joined by Andrew Stanley, remember the mug that spazzzed out on shrooms in Amsterdam and was totally Geoff? Yeah, that lad. Direct from down under.
