Thomas and Frank look back on the movies and TV that defined their 2025, from why Superman hit so hard to how Marvel's three-film run landed with Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and Captain America: Brave New World. They also talk about the stuff that disappointed them, why TV felt like it "won" this year, and the shows they could not stop thinking about, including IT: Welcome to Derry, Alien: Earth, and Andor. To close it out, they shift into 2026 mode: what's got them genuinely excited again, which upcoming releases feel like "event" movies, and how they want to evolve Challenge Accepted next year by being more personal and more present on social. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 – Welcome back, what this episode covers (2025 favorites + 2026 hype) 00:33 – Thomas check-in and the newborn update 01:32 – The baby's first Marvel movie (yes, really) 03:31 – Quick run through the 2025 movie list 03:55 – Why Superman was the movie of the year 04:02 – F1 as the surprise hit 07:15 – What worked in Superman (comic-book storytelling and trusting the audience) 10:56 – "I needed that movie this year" 11:03 – Marvel's 2025 slate starts: Brave New World, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts 11:56 – Why Thunderbolts is the one that felt different 18:12 – Sinners and the hunger for original stories 22:25 – Weapons (and the conversation spirals into other watchlist picks) 24:56 – K-Pop Demon Hunters love and why it clicked 28:38 – Disappointments and missed watches, including Star Trek: Section 31 30:24 – "TV shows dominate" and why this year proved it 30:53 – TV highlights sprint: Welcome to Derry, Stranger Things, Daredevil, Alien: Earth, and more 32:04 – Andor praise and why the release format worked 35:01 – Frank's top TV list: Chief of War, Paradise, Player Base 36:03 – Alien: Earth reactions (including the ending debate) 37:08 – Next year's challenge (Fargo Season 4) 39:10 – Revisiting Marvel 2025: what each movie represents and what Marvel should learn 41:33 – The big disappointment: Chair Company (plus Ironheart) 45:03 – Quick plug: Survivor 49 coverage and Survivor 50 excitement 46:11 – 2026 hype begins: Supergirl and the DCU momentum 50:02 – The Odyssey and why it feels like an "event" movie 51:15 – Marvel needs to "earn" the hype again 52:51 – Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and why it could be huge 53:16 – Rapid fire 2026 watchlist: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Project Hail Mary, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple 55:01 – Why seeing Spider-Man filmed "for people" matters 55:55 – The Mandalorian and Grogu as a real theatrical Star Wars moment 57:54 – What they want to improve on Challenge Accepted next year 58:40 – Social media mindset: be natural, be present, stop over-polishing 59:52 – Outro + how to send in your challenge Key Takeaways Superman landed because it played like an actual comic-book story and trusted the audience to keep up. Marvel's 2025 trio felt like three different "versions" of the brand, and Thunderbolts was the one that showed the most heart and restraint. Sinners is a great example of why original stories can still feel like a must-watch cultural moment. 2025 was stacked for TV, and the list of standouts is honestly longer than most years' movie lists. Andor remains the gold standard for prestige franchise storytelling, and the release strategy helped it stick. 2026 looks like it could swing back to a movie-forward year with multiple "event" releases on the calendar. They want the show to feel more personal in 2026, including more natural social posts and more listener involvement. Quotes "Talking about you, some of our favorite movies and shows from 2025 and what we're hyped for in 2026." "Yeah it was I needed that movie this year. Like I needed it." "They gave a director a chance to tell their story." "Right now, welcome to dairy. Holy cow. These last couple episodes have been so damn fire." "It makes me cry that it's the finale." "You don't necessarily need to make a polished post." "It's for people, not just, you know, for box office numbers." Christmas Must Buy Books The Black Spy Podcast 224, Season 23, Episode 0004 This week's Black Spy Podcast sees host Carlton King step away from headlines and hard geopolitics to offer listeners something more seasonal – a carefully curated list of books he believes make powerful, thought-provoking Christmas stocking fillers, each chosen for its ability to inform, challenge and inspire. At the heart of the episode is Carlton's own memoir, Black Ops – The Incredible True Story of a (Black) British Secret Agent, which he frames not as self-promotion, but as an essential corrective to the narrow way British intelligence history is usually told. From there, the discussion broadens into history, politics, race, psychology and power. Titles such as Der Unvergessene Krieg and Winston Churchill's Young Winston are explored as windows into how wars are remembered, mythologised and used to shape national identity. Carlton places particular emphasis on works that reclaim obscured histories, including Great Men of Colour by Joel Rogers, UNESCO's monumental History of Africa, They Came Before the Mayflower by Dr Ivan Van Sertima, and Black Athena by Martin Bernal. Together, these books challenge Eurocentric narratives and ask listeners to rethink who is written into – and out of – world history. The episode also highlights contemporary relevance through Male Menopause – The Hidden Crisis by Dr Rachel Taylor and Carlton King, linking mental health, masculinity and social silence, while Rupert Alison's The Branch offers insight into the often-misunderstood machinery of British intelligence. To close, Carlton turns to dystopian classics – George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World – arguing they are no longer warnings about the future, but commentaries on the present. He rounds off by recommending the enduring moral clarity found in the works of Charles Dickens. It's an episode that treats books not as escapism, but as tools for awakening – perfect gifts for curious minds. So, please get informed and don't miss these discussions by subscribing to the Black Spy Podcast for free, so you never miss another fascinating episode.

Tonight on the GeekNights Book Club, we discuss Jacqueline Harpman's phenomenal I Who Have Never Known Men.I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman is a dystopian sci-fi novel. It was originally written in French and published in 1995. It was not very well known until recently it surged in popularity. This renewed interest in the book is not unfounded. Although it is only thirty years old, I was convinced it was at least twenty years older. It reads much like the foundational dystopian sci-fi novels like 1984, Fahrenheit 451, or Brave New World. It tells the story of a woman who has lived her entire life in a prison. She has no memory of anything else. In the prison cell are only women. The other women do remember life before the prison, but nothing else. They don't know why they are there, and assume they will never be let out. From that point, various events begin to unfold.Related LinksForum ThreadBook Club: I Who Have Never Known MenDiscord ChatBook Club: I Who Have Never Known MenBluesky PostBook Club: I Who Have Never Known Men

We're closing out our 10-part Wellness Series with a conversation that couldn't feel more fitting. Today's guest is my friend Brad Stulberg, who returns to the podcast to talk about his new book, The Way of Excellence: A Guide to True Greatness and Deep Satisfaction in a Chaotic World. I read this book over the past couple of months and finished it on the plane heading to a busy week of interviews at the running event, and I genuinely felt more grounded and prepared because of it. Brad has been on the show many times, and I always leave our conversations with tangible takeaways for how to live and lead better. He's the author of The Practice of Groundedness, Master of Change, Peak Performance, and The Passion Paradox, and he brings such a thoughtful, practical lens to ambition, growth, and fulfillment. In this episode, we talk about caring deeply, the inevitability of failure, and why caring, even when it opens us up to heartbreak, is still worth it. We also touch on goal setting as we head into a new year and how to think about excellence in a way that's sustainable and meaningful. I hope you love this conversation as much as I did and that it leaves you feeling encouraged as we wrap up this series. Check out Brad’s work and pre order his newest book at BradStulberg.com What we talked about: December as a natural season for reflection, and the tension of “ramping down” while launching something big The Way of Excellence and how excellence can be a mindset you practice, not just an outcome you achieve “Brave New World” as a fear-to-curiosity reframe for big moments (races, interviews, parenting, hard lifts) Curiosity vs fear, and why curiosity helps you perform better (and feel better) under pressure Caring deeply as the cost of stepping into the arena, and why “too cool to care” is actually insecurity Excellence as heartfelt (not robotic) and a critique of “pseudo excellence” culture and optimization obsession Cold plunges and “hacks”: what's legit, what's hype, and when hard things are useful vs unnecessary Identity and the “house with rooms” metaphor (runner, parent, creative, partner) so one setback doesn't collapse your whole sense of self Reading vs short-form video for attention, cognition, and emotional health, plus habits that support focus New Year goals: why resolutions fail, and how values-based goal setting helps you climb the right mountain Sponsors: Eternal This entire Wellness Series has been made possible by Eternal, a science-backed preventative health company for people who take their health and training seriously. In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, Stewart Alsop sits down with Javier Villar for a wide-ranging conversation on Argentina, Spain's political drift, fiat money, the psychology of crowds, Dr. Hawkins' levels of consciousness, the role of elites and intelligence agencies, spiritual warfare, and whether modern technology accelerates human freedom or deepens control. Javier speaks candidly about symbolism, the erosion of sovereignty, the pandemic as a global turning point, and how spiritual frameworks help make sense of political theater.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 Stewart and Javier compare Argentina and Spain, touching on cultural similarity, Argentinization, socialism, and the slow collapse of fiat systems.05:00 They explore Brave New World conditioning, narrative control, traditional Catholics, and the psychology of obedience in the pandemic.10:00 Discussion shifts to Milei, political theater, BlackRock, Vanguard, mega-corporations, and the illusion of national sovereignty under a single world system.15:00 Stewart and Javier examine China, communism, spiritual structures, karmic cycles, Kali Yuga, and the idea of governments at war with their own people.20:00 They move into Revelations, Hawkins, calibrations, conspiracy labels, satanic vs luciferic energy, and elites using prophecy as a script.25:00 Conversation deepens into ego vs Satan, entrapment networks, Epstein Island, Crowley, Masonic symbolism, and spiritual corruption.30:00 They question secularism, the state as religion, technology, AI, surveillance, freedom of currency, and the creative potential suppressed by government.35:00 Ending with Bitcoin, stablecoins, network-state ideas, U.S. power, Argentina's contradictions, and whether optimism is still warranted.Key InsightsArgentina and Spain mirror each other's decline. Javier argues that despite surface differences, both countries share cultural instincts that make them vulnerable to the same political traps—particularly the expansion of the welfare state, the erosion of sovereignty, and what he calls the “Argentinization” of Spain. This framing turns the episode into a study of how nations repeat each other's mistakes.Fiat systems create a controlled collapse rather than a dramatic one. Instead of Weimar-style hyperinflation, Javier claims modern monetary structures are engineered to “boil the frog,” preserving the illusion of stability while deepening dependency on the state. This slow-motion decline is portrayed as intentional rather than accidental.Political leaders are actors within a single global architecture of power. Whether discussing Milei, Trump, or European politics, Javier maintains that governments answer to mega-corporations and intelligence networks, not citizens. National politics, in this view, is theater masking a unified global managerial order.Pandemic behavior revealed mass submission to narrative control. Stewart and Javier revisit 2020 as a psychological milestone, arguing that obedience to lockdowns and mandates exposed a widespread inability to question authority. For Javier, this moment clarified who can perceive truth and who collapses under social pressure.Hawkins' map of consciousness shapes their interpretation of good and evil. They use the 200 threshold to distinguish animal from angelic behavior, exploring whether ego itself is the “Satanic” force. Javier suggests Hawkins avoided explicit talk of Satan because most people cannot face metaphysical truth without defensiveness.Elites rely on symbolic power, secrecy, and coercion. References to Epstein Island, Masonic symbolism, and intelligence-agency entrapment support Javier's view that modern control systems operate through sexual blackmail, ritual imagery, and hidden hierarchies rather than democratic mechanisms.Technology's promise is strangled by state power. While Stewart sees potential in AI, crypto, and network-state ideas, Javier insists innovation is meaningless without freedom of currency, association, and exchange. Technology is neutral, he argues, but becomes a tool of surveillance and control when monopolized by governments.

AI is becoming ubiquitous in our lives. It shapes how we work, play, interact, create, and even manage our health—and this is only the beginning. To understand where we are and where we might go, we first need to understand how we got here. By tracing the evolving nature of machine intelligence, we can appreciate how today's AI differs from its past and how it is likely to evolve. With that in mind, we can begin to ask the big questions: When should we trust AI over human judgment? How should we govern its development? How will it change what it means to be human? And what roles will humans play in the future of work?To help us through this journey, I'm delighted to welcome back to TRIUM Connects Professor Vasant Dhar, the Robert A. Miller Professor at NYU's Stern School of Business and Professor of Data Science at NYU. Vasant is one of the world's leading thinkers on the impact of AI on society. He was present at the birth of AI and has been involved in every step of its evolution—both as an entrepreneur and as a scholar. He also hosts the acclaimed podcast Brave New World, which explores how machines are transforming humanity in the post-COVID era.In this episode, we discuss his newest book, Thinking With Machines: The Brave New World of AI. It's a remarkable hybrid: part autobiography, tracing how his professional life has intertwined with the development of AI; part user's guide, offering a lucid framework for deciding when to trust machines over human control; and part deep dive into the philosophical and policy implications of creating an alien intelligence. It was a real pleasure to welcome Vasant back onto the show. I learned a lot during our conversation, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.CitationsDawid A, LeCun Y. Like the Bad Religion song says, "sometimes truth is stranger than fiction." In this episode, Andrew For America talks about a recent Al Jazeera article comparing the dystopian novels "1984" by George Orwell, and "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. The article talks about how these novels discuss "utopia" and "negative utopia," and how our modern technologically advanced world is starting to confirm both of these narratives: these prophetic fiction novels seem to be more factual and accurate than we previously wanted to believe. Andrew also talks about a book released by the Club of Rome entitled, "Mankind at the Turning Point" which lays out how "they invented" the climate crisis idea to be the catalyst idea that would be used to usher in a global control system in the hands of a very few people. Andrew also plays a clip of Klaus Schwab admitting that the World Economic Forum's 'young global leaders' are prepped and utilized to infiltrate governments all over the world. Andrew ends by reading a fantastic piece by Students For Liberty illustrating how the practice of both fascism and socialism is very similar in nature...and how the end result of both theoretical "systems" is always the same. The song selection is the song, "Arthur Ingleman" by the band Hobo Bridge.Visit allegedlyrecords.com and check out all of the amazing punk rock artists!Visit soundcloud.com/andrewforamerica1984 to check out Andrew's music!Like and Follow The Politics & Punk Rock Podcast PLAYLIST on Spotify!!!Check it out here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1Y4rumioeqvHfaUgRnRxsy...politicsandpunkrockpodcast.comFollow Future Is Now Coalition on Instagram @FutureIsOrgwww.futureis.org

Is Designing Babies Unethical—or a Moral Imperative?

Honestly with Bari Weiss

Most parents know what goes into raising children: the time spent changing diapers in inopportune places; the hours of worrying—about what to feed them, how to educate them, how to protect them and keep them healthy; the countless hours devoted to dance classes, summer camps, pediatricians, and piano lessons—all investments meant to give them the best chance in life. Most of us would do anything to help our kids become the most successful and happiest versions of themselves. But what if we could start earlier? At the molecular level. What if we could ensure our babies were healthier, smarter, and stronger, before they even took their first breath? Right now, several biotech companies are doing just that. They offer embryo screening for couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). These companies don't just score embryos for disease risk, which has become standard practice for anyone undergoing IVF—they go further. Nucleus Genomics promises “optimization” of traits like heart health and cancer resistance, as well as intelligence, longevity, body mass index, baldness, eye color, hair color, etc. It even suggests it may predict a predisposition to become an alcoholic. In the future, we may be able to more than just screen and select. We'll be able to make tweaks to our own embryos in order to “optimize” them. This isn't something out of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. It's the very real, and near, future. Some would argue it's already here. It all creates profound and critical questions. So we hosted a debate: Is it ethical to design our unborn children? And are we morally obligated to do so when the risks of abstaining include serious diseases? Or does designing babies cross a line? Is it wrong to play God and manipulate humanity's genetic heritage? Arguing that designing babies is not only an ethical choice, but indeed a moral imperative, are Jamie Metzl and Dr. Allyson Berent. Jamie is a technology and healthcare futurist, who was a member of the World Health Organization Expert Advisory Committee on Human Genome Editing. He's also written several best-selling books on this subject, including Hacking Darwin: Genetic Engineering and the Future of Humanity. Allyson is a veterinarian who has become an incredible force for genetic research since her daughter, Quincy, was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. She serves as chief science officer of the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics and chief development officer at a biotechnology company, where she helps accelerate gene therapy programs for Angelman syndrome. Arguing that designing babies is unethical are O. Carter Snead and Dr. Lydia Dugdale. Carter is a bioethicist and law professor at Notre Dame. He served as general counsel to the President's Council on Bioethics under George W. Bush and as an appointed member of UNESCO's International Bioethics Committee. He is also an appointed member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, which advises the pope on bioethics. Lydia is a physician, medical ethicist, and professor of medicine at Columbia University, where she serves as director of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. She is also Co-Director of Clinical Ethics at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. It's a critical debate you won't want to miss.  The Free Press is honored to have partnered with the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression to present this debate. Modern medicine is veering away from the traditional Hippocratic Oath that required physicians to do no harm and use their knowledge and skills solely for the purpose of healing the patient, says psychiatrist and bioethics expert Dr. Aaron Kheriaty. Now, physicians are euthanizing patients, removing healthy organs in certain transgender-related surgeries, and injecting drugs for late-term abortions even when the mother's life is not threatened.Hippocratic principles are being superseded by utilitarian ethics that prioritize the “greater good” over the well-being and rights of individual patients, Kheriaty says. That's fueling, for instance, the push to expand the dead-donor eligibility criteria for organ donations. It's also manifesting in the push to adopt technological advancements like germ-line gene editing that could be used to create “designer babies” or in vitro gametogenesis (IVG), a process that uses stem cells, such as those derived from skin cells, to create human eggs and sperm in a lab.Earlier this year, an op-ed in the MIT Technology Review argued for the creation of “spare” human bodies called “bodyoids.” These would essentially be human bodies created in laboratories from human stem cells, but without brains or consciousness. Proponents say they would revolutionize medical research and drug testing and create an unlimited supply of organs. It sounds like the stuff of science fiction. What are the true ethical implications? Is this really where we want medicine to go?Kheriaty is the director of the bioethics and American democracy program at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and former director of the medical ethics program at UCI Health. His latest book is titled “Making the Cut: How to Heal Modern Medicine.”“The biggest advance [that] medicine needs to make is to accept the limits of medicine,” he says.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Are we living through an actual decline—or is that just a narrative fueled by polarization and economic anxiety? Tom and Michael clash over definitions, metrics, and the real-world symptoms of unrest, from “soft secession” among states to the creeping rise of populism and political violence. Together, they unpack the hidden costs of inflation, housing bubbles, and deficit spending, with Tom warning about a dangerous fork in the road ahead: revolution, civil war, or the quiet erosion into economic stagnation. Michael pushes back, claiming America is in “ascension” in some critical ways, but he doesn't shy away from calling out the breakdown in civic discourse and the silos fueling division. They dig into historical context, global comparisons, and the role of universities as modern indoctrination hubs. This conversation doesn't stop at politics—it veers into the future of AI, the meaning of tribalism, social credit scores, and how technological upheaval might drive us all into virtual worlds or leave millions behind. Buckle up for a wild ride through uncomfortable truths, dark humor, and some offbeat protein bar analogies—you're about to hear two radically different views not just of where America stands, but what could come next.   00:00 – Intro 00:34 – Michael Malice pushes back on “collapse” rhetoric 01:14 – America vs. the world: Perceptions of American power and value 04:16 – Political siloization and the shrinking space for dialogue 05:56 – Soft secession: State vs. federal power games 08:39 – Paths ahead: Civil War, Argentina, or revolution? 10:46 – Revolution mechanics: Is another 1860s-style war possible? 13:12 – Violence, political unrest, and expanding executive power 16:06 – Economic crushing of young people and the rise of populism 17:58 – Housing, inflation, and the struggle for the American Dream 20:08 – Currency as a store of value: Societal ruin and a lack of political will 23:10 – The Japan counterargument and the threshold for crisis 26:07 – What drives people to “blink” in political standoffs? 28:24 – Party priorities, empty rhetoric, and pivoting for power 32:00 – Economic disenfranchisement, the myth of moderate politics 36:56 – Populism vs. establishment: Energies within parties 39:03 – Political novelty, enthusiasm gaps, and voter turnout 41:38 – Global leftward drift: Authoritarianism in Canada, UK, and beyond 46:13 – “The time for talk is over”—what this actually means 47:27 – Universities as the “villains” and the creation of ruling elites 49:56 – Marxism, egalitarianism, and cultural bifurcation 52:02 – Cultural shifts, earnestness vs. revolution, and memory-holed leftism 54:00 – The dangers of social conformity and shifting the Overton window 56:29 – Can universities be reined in? 1:00:16 – Narrative control, new media chaos, and elite power after the Internet 1:06:49 – The politics of blame: Antisemitism, conspiracies, and populist rage 1:13:13 – Warning signs: Measuring society's health by its scapegoats 1:19:12 – Israel-Palestine, war, and the elusive search for peace 1:21:52 – The next stage: AI, algorithmic reality, and broken discourse 1:24:00 – Goal orientation, skills, and navigating “useful” beliefs 1:25:18 – Tribalism, isolation, and the dangers for moderates 1:26:46 – Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and why conspiracy theories persist 1:32:00 – First principles: How to actually challenge your beliefs 1:33:56 – A personal story: Sleep apnea, anxiety, and reclaiming clarity 1:37:21 – AI, automation, and the fate of surplus labor 1:40:08 – Brave New World, artificial difficulty, and the post-economic Matrix 1:48:56 – Hardwired for scarcity: The psychological cost of abundance 1:51:16 – Trade-offs, Thomas Sowell, and the “protein bar” thought experiment   --------------------------------------------------------------------  Check out our ACU Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/ACUPodcast   HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD!  Please go to Apple Podcasts and give ACU a 5 star rating. Thomas and Ella kick off the book discussion with a little biographical background on Huxley and dispel the myth that he belonged to the Bloomsbury Group. Angelina gives some literary history of the period in which Huxley wrote, as well as some thoughts on satire as a response to an age of overwhelming optimism. She also highlights the literary and cultural influences that Huxley satirizes in this novel, including Wells, Ford, and Freud. A book from the 1960's clearly explained what was happening to dramatically restructure society. We can clearly see those changes today. Through gradualism America has been transformed over the last 70+ years and many don't realize it. Not only is technology working to make man obsolete, but the progressives have been working to fragment our families, so they can profit from our labor, while raising our children to believe in their "Brave New World." In Part 2 of this fiery and revealing conversation, Tom Bilyeu and Michael Malice turn their attention to the deeper forces shaping Western culture—education, elite power, AI, and the challenges of the digital age. Malice blasts the university system as the true “villains of our time,” tracing their role in producing ideologically homogenous elites and fueling social division. The discussion moves seamlessly from indoctrination in higher ed to the implications of Marxism, the shifting Overton window, and how mass cultural narratives are formed and manipulated. This half is packed with debate-worthy takes on antisemitism, populist movements, the dangers of artificial intelligence, and the existential threat posed by mass boredom in a post-economic world. Malice and Bilyeu tackle big questions about identity, tribalism, and the collapse of shared reality, before ending on a wild—and hilarious—tangent about tradeoffs and protein bars. If you want clarity on why our institutions feel broken and what might happen next, Part 2 will leave you thinking (and laughing) long after the episode ends. 00:00 Intro 02:29 Marxism, egalitarianism, and cultural bifurcation 04:35 Cultural shifts, earnestness vs. revolution, and memory-holed leftism 06:33 The dangers of social conformity and shifting the Overton window 09:02 Can universities be reined in?
